Oovoo Video Chat - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Oovoo has released a mobile application for the Evo and the Epic. It supports text based IM, voice calls, and most importantly High quality Video conferencing. This allows users to communicate with PC's and Mac's along with other mobile phones running Oovoo (only Evo and Epic for now).
The program is flawed however, I am unable to see the other user's video and they are unable to see mine. I am running CM6.1 with the latest Oovoo version available and no luck. I also tried on an Evo running Fresh (newest version) and I had the same problem. Any ideas?

oovoo Video
I keep trying to download the file from they website with no luck, some how i'm not able to get
the file.
Would you be able to drop the file to see how it works for me, thanks in advance.

Thanks, I was trying to get it from the market yesterday but it was getting error "file not found".
Did u got it to work?

Any of you that are curious about how oovoo works, I just tried it out and it worked great.
Video FROM evo on PC was a little slow but was all very clear
[edit] I didn't test sound because I'm work.. I was testing the app with a friend

I was successful from pc to mac with video calls, but I could not get my video to show up on the mac or my evo on phone to cpu calls (cpu to evo). I saw the video on my evo and on my mac, but only saw a contact icon for the person I was calling. Any ideas? I am thrilled I will finally be able to make video calls to my wife and kids!

guys, make sure that the person on the PC (not MAC yet) has the ooVoo version made to work with mobile clients, go to the ooVoo website and go to the download page and download ooVoo Version 3.0.1.29, thats the one that should work with mobile phones, i hope that helps

I'm assuming private chat, not recorded and posted on my qik page. I can't seem to find much about it, does anyone know where I can find more about it?
yes, new app? w/ Qik...
yes, the official launch they said that "an upgrade" (i believe through Qik, an app maybe?) will enable the phone to utilize phone to phone OR phone to pc video calls..."CALLS"...so it must be the case. i guess they foresaw having to compete w/ skype and verizon in this manner...w/ verizon's upcoming vphone (saygus) offering video conferencing software via android, more options may open up than just offered up front at sprint.
Also remember that the 4th gen iPhone will also have a front facing camera, as well as code in the os that point to iChat intergration.
I can't wait till we have an Android app that works with iChat!
This is an upgrade to the qik app or qik account. I wonder if it will cost. That would sure ruin it.
I'm praying for skype to skype video on the Evo.

same, stupid verizon, buying up skype.....
I know I'm half awake, so maybe I missed something, but from what I can see, Qik doesn't have a full desktop/PC app. They seem to be very phone centric.
They do have an app called "Qik-in-Touch" that runs on the desktop and will tell you when your friends are broadcasting publicly (or maybe privately to all friends?) but last time I played with it (when it first went beta), it didn't support webcam on the PC. So it was receive-only on the desktop.
It's something, but not a direct one to one video calling/chat. But maybe they've updated it since the last time I played with it, or maybe I just missed some things.
-gryffyn
That's what I was concerned about, I haven't seen anything about being able to video chat to a PC

actually google bought Global IP Systems, they allow skype, qik and so on to have video calling and chat XD so we will see.
Wonder if Google Talk will be getting video chat on the PC and Android phones.
I my opinion that would be great. If you have a Android phone you have a gmail account so it only make sense that it should be coming.

Your prayers have been answered. Fring now supports video chatting with Skype.

Qik does it, but its an extra $5/month, like the post above fring will make skype video calls, or atleast recieve them for now, i havent seen it making a video call yet.

you can do pc to phone and viceversa it receives and makes calls i have already tested it
dont forget skype is releasing video chat on all android devices this year too
Fring is supposed to do skype with the front camera
Tested it today. Two evos both using fring, worked well on our subpar 3G service around here. I did Skype on PC to Fring (logged into a skype account) on an evo. Worked great all the same. I played with fring on an old windows mobile device, and had problems. Today on my evo, the experience was flawless.

Grab & install Fring from the Market. I've been using it for the past 2 days to video chat EVO > PC. PC users on Skype.
NYC is still 3G only, so its pretty bad, but switch to Wifi And I found the quality rather acceptable.

(request) EVO to desktop video chat

Is there any app out there that will let me Video chat with a Desktop. Preferably using Skype or Google Video chat.
With Fring not supporting Skype anymore, it feels like a big chunk of functionality has been taken from my big bad phone.
I know that both fring and qik support phone to phone video chat but I'm the only one I know with a EVO so both are now useless to me now.
fring pleasesearch10chars
skype mobile is on the way.. i guess we just have to sit tight until then.
Fring supports SIP. So it's not completely taken away. It's just that no one uses Ekiga.
There's also SipDroid.
i usually use fring
Agreed, without skype fring is useless for me, even with skype fring was pretty useless due to the horrible quality of the program.
YES, there is. it's called "ooVoo Video Chat (Beta)". and yeah, there is an oovoo desktop client that has been out before the mobile version as you may/probably know. get the app from the market place.
holy dead thread revival!
Yahoo messenger also lets you video chat to desktop

yes, i was wondering. negative market comments of no support for galaxy tab (e.g. also not for front facing camera) and no mention of skype connectivity in market description... i wonder whether the OP every actually tried the app
It's a start
Tried this thinking it was an answer. It is half an answer.
1. It allows and easy switch between front and back camera.
2. It sees the incoming video.
3. It DOES NOT transmit video.
The ClearSeas app WORKS VERY WELL so it can be done - just need to figure out how to make it work.
Also, Yahoo messenger works very well INBOUND on the Galaxy but NOT on outgoing.
We are almost there. Come on Skype

[Q] Do we have any apps that Video Call Work @ TF101

I have had no problems w/ Tango, as well.

Anyone have a working apk for Qik video chat? The wife has the Sensation and I've been looking for a video chat compilable with it. Google Talk won't work since the Sensation runs 2.3.3, not 2.3.4.
Qik is now Skype. Does not support video chat on Tf as of now

Google Chat has the best video and audio clarity out of everything I tested.
I had tango working on my tf, but it sounds like crap and the video is fuzzy.
Pretty crazy that you are using the same hardware and you get a different output depending on the program you are using. I guess tango does some type of compression or something.
Brandon
Okay, sorry if this is very obvious but how do you get google talk/chat on the TF. I can't find it in the market and if i go to through the browser it says that it needs to install the plug in?
Hmm, everyone keeps saying use google talk. However I must be missing something.
I have "allow video and voice chats" checked in, but I can not initiate video chat with any of my contacts.
I don't have even an option to activate video chat...

It will only work with other users who have a client that supports video chart (those logged in through Gmail / Google Talk on their tablet / Google Talk on their phone).

For those users not on 2.3.4/Android, they can download and install Vtok
What we need here is FaceTime for Android - I've been using it to talk with my father and it's worked flawlessly. Smooth video, easy connection.
I've had lots of problems with video chat apps for android with video's being upside down or problems connecting - even google talk was hard to get working from PC to Tablet

I am able to vidchat wih no issue via GChat over 4G and wifi. Tango works too..,I have LG Gslate

HOw do you get Tango to work!? It keep asking me for a phone number!
On a side note, Google Talk works GREAT!!! I wish they add support for Google+ Hangout feature so you can chat with a bunch of people... that'd be awesome!

Skype video call on ChaCha?

Hello from germany -
is there any hack what implements the skype video call option to HTC ChaCha?
Thanks for your help...
Alex
hey there, I don't think there is a hack. You can try downloading Skype and see if the video call functionality is already working out of the box...
or you can also wait for the Skype to implement the functionality on our phone, if you check the Skype android app page, you can see which phones are already available for video calls.
Try this:

Try the link above you.
it s working normally without set up anything else
I cannot get it to work
Hi. I have a ChaCha running 2.3.5 with S-ON.
I checked the link posted previously, downloaded the app, but still no video settings in Skype settings. I'm sure the phone hardware is ok for video calling, because I can use Tango for video calls, but I will really like to use skype as well. Any help please?
Thanks.
Skype is not working on chacha because it require ARMv7 CPU.
Anyone tried this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.oovoo
Its cross platform and more importantly free.
Give it a try.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using xda premium
It's not compatible with the chacha..
Neither Skype nor Google Talk work with Video chat on the Chacha yet (although there is a "Video for Google Talk" app, but this does not work well.
I was able to install Yahoo Messenger with Video but I did not test it, since none of my friends used Yahoo Messenger and also this as always autostarting - so i deleted it. But I think Yahoo video talk should work.
I really don't understand why Google does not improve Google Talk. I like it more than Skype, but it's not clear why it doesn't even support voice talk on some phones.
I usually use Yahoo!
