I use my SGS as MP3 player many hours a day, but when I get home I like to play some games, etc. so I unplug the headphones and plug them again the following morning.
Do you think it is better to leave them plugged to avoid wearing off the plug connector? Is it replaceable?
Thanks for your suggestions.
Never heard of someone wearing out headphone connectors before...

This is exactly what happened to many Samsung Jet users... But other than that I have never heard of such problems...

since my work was kind enough to block XM, i now have to stream on my phone... now all last week i used the adapter that came with the phone, plugged my headphones in, plugged the charger in, and listened to XM all day (while keeping a frozen lunch on it to keep it cool enough to actually charge...). This morning i plugged in the adapter, plugged in my headphones and the audio comes out of the speaker, if i unplug the charger from the adapter... the audio comes from the headphones. I havent changed any settings over the weekend so i have no clue how this happened, any ideas how to fix it ? im running one of the newer energy roms if that helps ?
this sucks !
I bought this dock a while ago, and every time I try to plug it in, and my speakers are plugged into the dock, it just makes a constant static noise as if the wires were loose. I went to Samsung for help first but their reply was to get some app that simulates being plugged into a dock (that costs $5.) So anyone have a better idea before I try taking it apart and probably breaking it?
eh, if it is a Samsung app or something just steal it. blah blah blah piracy whatever, they don't deserve more of your money to fix their crappy hardware.

I couldn't actually find the app, but I'm assuming it just made the phone think it was plugged into the dock because that's what all the other ones with that sort of name do. I just asked them if I could return it or something, so I'm waiting on their reply from that.
Sounds sad, but try just moving the phone away from the speakers, I have noticed this with most of the cell phones I have owned, is they sit too close to the speakers, docked or not, the speakers throw static.
Just tried that, but it didn't work. I moved it around a little bit and that helped/made it worse. So I'm pretty sure the connection just sucks.
un plug the power cable. when i hook my fone up to power and then to speakers i get the same buzzing but when i unplug then it goes away
That's not it. I'm talking about the dock, not just plugging it into the power. Plus its not a buzzing, its a static noise. And I've also unplugged the cord many times and it didn't solve the problem at all.
So I plugged my brand new s3 into my garage speakers and I could no longer get past the lock screen.
I can adjust my volume but it wont let me do anything else.
I've tried Pandora and Spotify and they both do the same thing.
unplugging and replugging let my move around a little but then it froze up again.
anyone else experienced this?
I am using a lepai amp through the mini jack plug.
I thought this was odd.
it worked fine when I used the phone in the car but it wont work right in my garage.
any suggestions?
Assuming in your car your using a 1/8" cable, and if it works there, I think you already have solved your problem, and it's with your garage setup. Depending on what your using, some powered speakers have "hot" connectors that pre-amplify the signal before hitting the built in amp. Give some more info on what your using.

Lepai LP-2020A - to Dayton BR-652 speakers - With 1/8 mini plug to the rca inputs.
I don't believe the amp is sending out a hot signal, I don't know why it would.
I never had an issue with my captivate.
I understand that this is a isolated problem but what is the reason behind this? I should be able to plug this phone into anywhere that accepts the 1/8 plug.
My wifi signal seems to be weaker on my s3 then it was on my captivate in the same location. (sound is cutting out while streaming).
What is rca terminal are you hooked up to on the amp? Aux, video, phono, etc?

This is a stereo amp it only has a right and a left channel. it has a 1/8 jack and right/left rca inputs.
Im going to see if the mini plug input will work. but I just don't get why this would cause a problem when there was none before.
I can still return my phone I have a few more days. maybe I got a hold of a bad one or something?
Today, I hooked my new S4 into my car's audio for the first time. I noticed that if I have both the audio out and the USB charger plugged in at the same time, I get this buzz in my speakers while no sound is coming from the device.
Now, if the device is playing music or something, the buzz goes away. Pause or something, though, and the buzz comes back. If I unplug the charger, the buzz also goes away.
Anyone else experience this?
Anyone know how to fix it?
Sounds like a ground loop. There are thingies on Amazon you can buy that will reduce it.

i did notice the buzz when i had plugged in my aux cable and my charger. But i think i got rid of it once i tried to plug the aux cable in some more, i had a neo hybrid case on and the aux cable wasnt fitting well unless i pushed it in hard and once i did that i think i got rid of the buzz, havent really paid attention to it after that since the buzz doesnt really bother me cos i usually have music playing through my car speakers if my phone is connected.

Yes. Currently there is no fix that I'm aware of. And yes, it really does suck.
I got this yesterday, worked perfectly!

I have no case, currently, so I can't get the cable in any farther (further?) than it is.
Maybe this ground loop thingie is my answer.
I'm also considering bluetooth for my audio so that I don't even need to worry about a cable.

See my previous post. I just got this ground loop isolator for the exact same problem and it works perfectly.

Doh! Sorry, didn't even notice that those two posts were by the same person.
Would something like this do the trick, you think?

I bought that exact same ground isolator for my car. It reduces the buzz greatly (to acceptable levels) but is still there a little when the volume on the head unit is up pretty high and there is no audio coming from the phone. I never had this issue from my old nexus s. I was a little disapointed, but like I said this dongle makes it acceptable.
Hey! I have an audio problem with my device. When i just play some music with google play using my headphones (that came with galaxy 3 that i have) it sounds like i am hearing in low quality and i can't hear some parts that are playing. For example, sometimes i can't hear the singer singing or the guitar plays. Kinda like my device is playing stereo and my headphones gets only one side.
It's worth mentioning that i tried other headphones, which didn't help much. I have tried other audio apps also and got the same results.
I have searched for an answer to the situation for quite some time now and didn't find any.
Thank you
I
Either there's a problem with the headphones (but you imply it is the same across different ones), or they are not plugging in properly. Is the jack in fully? Is there something lurking in the socket that might stop the jack from connecting?

the problem is that this issue happens with other headphones too.
maybe you should try to loose the headphone jack a little bit, hope this works
Well i tried playing a little with the jack but no luck...
what do you mean by "loose the headphone jack a little bit" ?
I don't want to cause any physical damage ...
Either the jack was incorrectly installed or the jack is defective. I would RMA the unit if I were you.

Today I had an issue where my volume was all the way up and the phone plugged into the receiver wouldn't work. The s3 I have here would play just fine though.
