Looking for the missed call/new message widget.
Cheers.
"Last Call Widget." Free in the market.
Is the new message notification for voice mails or text messages or both?

To be honest I really don't know.
And the "Last Call" widget isn't really what I'm after.
well....if you look under the picture there is a link

Try "SMS Unread Count" from the market. It gives you widgets for missed Calls, SMS an GMail.

Wow. I feel like a proper idiot.
Thanks all the same. Also, I did wind up just going with SMS Unread Count the other day, but thanks to you as well for the suggestion.
Wound up looking pretty nice, I think. Would post a picture, but no outside links yet.

Download the latest version of google voice. They've finally included an unread count widget in their app.
I thought about attempting this, but I only really need the Google Voice Unread count notifications. I do just fine with the Gmail notifications that I get now. I'll be watching this and hopefully a better solution for JUST getting the GV notifications.

EDIT: Actually, I thought I understood your post, but now I'm not so sure. I'm pretty sure it would meet your needs. If you didn't want to mix text notifications and gvoice notifications to the widget then just don't set up the filter to forward your text notifications to your Gvoice dedicated inbox.
A real GV unread widget just launched
search for "google voice unread count" or "feokala" in the market.
The widget does everything described but in just 1 widget. It works great

Actually, the new google voice app has it's own unread widget. No need to pay for a market asp. Thanks for digging this dead thread up though?
I guess i am missing this, unless you are talking about the GINORMOUS inbox widget, that gives me way more info than I want. Am i missing something? I would just like a widget that shows unread message count, nothing else, well maybe also the google voice logo....

Are you talking about the "g2" version? The one with the HUGE WHITE inbox that is ugly as all get out? I would not classify that as an unread widget, that is much more, and much bigger, and did I mention, much uglier?

Exactly, the widget is way to busy. I purchased the Google Voice Unread Count app and it works great. You can use the google voice icon with a simple unread count on the edge of the icon and have the option of including sms and/or voicemail.

How do you apply this?
I'm using the GV Unread Count purchased widget, and not overly happy with it. It has delays before updating.
I'll quote the post above...how do you apply this?
any way to incorporate minimalistic text with sms unread or to make the app missed it to open applications
I like missed it a lot however i don't like how it's not able to be clicked. like i have minimalistic text set up on my homescreen to read messages and when i click on it, it goes to messages obviously
but anyway to add it so unread bubble is over minimalistic text or a way to make missed it clickable. i see they have a setting for applications but don't know how to use that
i've created photoshop icons that say messages, however for the unread count widget, it's the one size and that's too small for me so looking for any way to do this if at all possible
Not to my knowledge. Ofcourse I've only been playing with them for about a week each. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help ya. Took me forever to get the Minimalistic widget set up, lol.
yeah there's so much that app can do, and missed it app is very similar just wish it could open an application like minimalistic can do
and sms unread does open the app, just doesn't look nearly as good as the other two apps
hmm, there's got to be a way but yeah, i'm hooked to minimalistic text

I know this is already and old-ish thread, but if you're still looking to do this: I think LauncherPro allows you to stack widgets.. So you might be able to put an empty MinimalisticText widget (no background and link to the application) over the MissedIt! widget.
I haven't really tried LauncherPro though, only read about it.. So I may be wrong, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it can stack widgets. I can't find the exact link now, but I think it was something posted in the Post your Screenshots thread.
Edit: Uh.. I just bought Missed It! from the Market, and there's an option in the settings to launch the application associated with any notification being shown (version 1.5.3), so it looks like you don't need to use MinimalisticText to create links. But anyway, guess that option is still there anyway.
You can get SMS unread (and about a million other things) in MTW using Tasker

Tasker looks cool, but in my local currency it costs R47.49 (ZAR) compared to MissedIt at R7.03. Pretty big price difference for simply displaying an unread notification count on your launcher home screen...
My Gmail is`nt working with Missed It, I have the account added or what not but when e-mails come in, it does`nt show on Missed It, any ideas?

Are you talking about the home screen or the lock screen?
For home screen status bar, Paranoid Android is the ONLY rom that offers this feature. They call it "Do not disturb" feature. It blocks any ticker in the status bar.
I requested for this specific feature to be included in a variety of roms but no dev responded so far.

If you're talking about message pop-up, go to mms app then disable quick-reply pop-up.

Can you kindly post a screen shot? Where does this box appear?
And what rom are you using?

Hi,
That is called the notification area. Which is the same area as the clock, date, etc.
And what u want used to be available on older SMS apps.
It may be available on Handcent SMS app or GO SMS app as well, but I'm not sure since I haven't seen that since HTC sense ROM.
It was a privacy setting on the SMS app.
I'll do a search and get back to u.
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2

Is anyone else annoyed/confused by the notifications presented by Hangouts?
Notification icons shown in the status bar from a text message or an actual Hangout message look the same, and you can only tell its a text message by sliding the down the status bar. Maybe a silly a reason to complain, but it would have been a lot more convenient if a different icon was implemented for a text message vs. a hangouts message.
Any known workaround to this? Or will we have to wait until Google decides to look into it.

I hear you - you can set diff notification sounds for each though. Or use Lightflow to distinguish colors between a hangouts chat and SMS/MMS

This is exactly what i do.
The idea was that you use the same app to message people. You just open hangouts and message, and the phone will send the message whatever way works best (Hangouts if it can, sms otherwise.)
I'm a fan of it personally but I could see why a lot of people wouldn't like it.

You can try looking into alternatives for an SMS app. I use Textra and it is so much better than using the hangouts for SMS. I like to keep my hangouts separate from my texting and the Textra UI is very nice and clean.

Although I like that Hangouts is a unified messaging app (I still think there can be tweaks to make it much better) - I might have to try Textra out of sheer curiosity. I have seen numerous people cite this app and say nothing but good things about it so naturally i'm curious.

Yeah that's basically what I've been doing so far, but like I said its more of "convenient" feature that would make hangouts noticeably better, at least in my opinion it would

I understand your POV on it but on the flip side, I think creating another icon might just undo the direction they are moving towards with hangouts. Maybe a variation of the hangouts notification with an envelope in the middle to distinguish between the two. Only issue is, when you get a chat AND sms then you run into the issue of having 2 different icons pop up for the same app technically. Unless there's a way it can switch between the two and look like a loop movement if you know what I mean

I never really thought of it as issue to have two notifications for the app, but like you said it might not go along with what they're trying to do (unifying everything). But if they were actually able to loop it like that, it would plain awesome. Maybe a unlikely feature for now (especially if it were to come from Google), but maybe some future devs are willing to work on it... would be amazing if they did :good:

my THOUGHTS EXACTLY...I just wanted to get someone's wheels churning, since I don't know how to do this myself :fingers-crossedDevs, read this - I command you) lol
Dear members,
How to display/preview more than 6 messages from a (whatsapp) conversation in the notification panel? Ideally, i would like to see ALL my unread messages.
Indeed, by default there are only the last 6 messages received (by the same contact) that are displayed.
Thank you for your help
