[Q] Cyanogen vs TNT Lite - G Tablet General

Cyanogen vs TNT Lite, which one is faster and better.
If the response is Cyanogen what is is the simplest way to install it.
I'm OK with TNT Lite installation, but can't figure out how to install it.
Thanks

Maybe you could learn to read and follow the great instructions provided. Then maybe you could install each one and find out.. Asking someone what is better is like asking which car is better, which beer is better? They all are the best according to some...
Seriously though. They all have there good and bad. I personally like TnTLite best because most everything works properly.

[ROM] [MT3G Fender, LE,1.2] ported_KiNgxKxlick-AOSP21-v19

Using dsixda's rom kitchen and with some trial and error with a few other roms I ran into some luck with KiNgxKxlicK AOSP 2.1.
What doesn't work:
So far, nothing.
Anything else that we might discover
What this does have:
Multitouch
Live Wallpapers
Launcher 2
Working Youtube
Wi-Fi/Bluetooth
Requirements
A rooted MyTouch 1.2 device (duh!)
SDCARD with fat/swap/ext3 partition (not sure if 2 or 4 works... haven't tested. Let me know)
A complete wipe (dalvik-cache, data, ext partiton)
I'm not much of a developer but I think that this is running pretty smooth. But I'll let you be the judge. And if you can improve upon it... even better!
Click the disclaimer below to download.
Enjoy!

If it's for FENDER or MYTOUCH LE we don't really have much choice in SPL or radio. So adding that information would be a bit redundant at this point.
So it runs great, super fast. I am on ext. 4, fyi.
Protected apps, awesome.
Very speedy

I would stay it is stable.
Im running live wallpaper, and it is still running fast.
I think I might actually stick with this one for a while

Sorry.
Wow, pushing out a lot of ROMs lately, good job. Downloading now...
I'm starting to lose track of the relative merits of these different roms as they become available.
What are the main benefits of this one? I'm running the SuperD port.

I haven't had any stability problems with SuperD. Does AOSP21 mean it's considered a 2.1 rom and not a 1.6 rom with 2.1 portions?
Is it better that the stokes port? That was nice but all and all rather slow. I haven't messed around with ext before -- you can format for that via Ras Recovery, right?

I think so actually. I haven't had it sitting on my phone for long. Right now I'm testing an eris port which seems to be just as smooth plus it has SenseUI.
Stay tuned!
running super D, downloading this now.
anyone have swype working on this?
I'm thinking about flashing this one - does one actually need to have their SD card partitioned? I'd rather not go the route of partitioning my SD card if I don't have to, I really think that this device has plenty of memory and doesn't need the card partitioning stuff.
Would you say this is better than the CM port that was on here a few days ago? I've been running that for like 3 days now and haven't had any issues.
2.1 is fairly tempting though....

[opinions] Best kernel

Lets make a group list of Captivate Kernels and list which are the best with the Pro's and Cons.
I tried Cognition 2.2b and had problems with the music player which always showed an annoying notification and the call logs that also showed annoying notifs, another problem was wifi connectivity, but its safe to assume that these cells arent the best for wifi. And at Launcher Pro it didnt show my settings options when i pressed and hold the home key.

It's all good bro, we were all new at one time. I like running the i9000 re-oriented kernel by xcaliburinhand. This way you are able to run a i9000 ROM. The reason I like this kernel is because I have no need for any of the OC/UV kernels. The captivate is already fast as hell (especially with voodoo). DesignGears probably has the best kernel for froyo, but I haven't experimented with too many different ones. haha I am also new to flashing.
Remember: read, read, and keep reading. then post.
Mine:
ROM: Cognition 2.3b3
Kernel: Cog's kernel that comes with the ROM
I had no difficulty upgrading from Cog 9.1.1. Just make sure all your stuff is up-to-date, and make sure to follow directions... it's all pretty "cut and paste" past that.
Best kernel goes to the setiron imo, that universal lagfix is just unreal, coupled with the overclock/340mb of memory and the speedmod nothing comes close to it in terms of speed.
Best rom is debatable, when i decided to switch to froyo i compared all of the current froyo roms and decided on killer23d's rom. If you want the two combined get MikeyMike01's rom.
Setiron's compilation just has everything you could want. Im runing it with DRS 3.0 and its awsome.
The one I am using....no issues
however I have not tried any others. I may give Cyanogen a try if they build one but I like Cognition now.
Thread would be more valuable if a person 'voting' for a specific rom would list pros and cons:
Pros
ONe
Two
Three
Cons
ONe
Two
or pros only.
Otherwise, lets just go browse the dev forum and do the usual reading.
I haven't done any specific kernal only updates, so unfortunately I don't have anything I can share of value.
Setiron
It does everything anyone needs

Bluetooth/hsupa work fine with setiron.
Good to hear. I may have to give it a try.
I think someone was asking DesignGears if he may add that kernal to his next ROM. Didn't see an answer.

How about making this a sticky?
Hmmm...not really enough votes to make me want to switch over from TNT Lite to Vegan but I am interested in seeing which one is most popular. If Vegan voted is better than the rest I may make the switch.
I know I'm a little odd here but I prefer stock TNT. I have used TNTlite and also Vegan and love the speed of those ROMs but for some reason I keep going back to stock. Although, right now I am running that 3d home screen on top of stock... I change alot
is there a comparison thread. to see maybe what each one offers. my g-pad came in today and I'm not sure of which to go with.

I stuck with TNT Lite for sometime as well (due to Vegan declaring themselves to be early BETA). However, after making the switch, I can't ever see myself going back to TNT Lite.
I have had vegan and tent lite. I like tnt lite the best but miss the mouse support of vegan.

I agree... stock with enhancement (gApps) was good enough to be functional and positioned for a Viewsonic update (if one comes out).
I've stuck with TnT lite through 4.1.0 and love it. I've followed some of the differences with other ROM's, but will stay with TnT until a Dev comes out with Gingerbread or Honeycomb updates. Look forward to the aforementioned list of features for each ROM.
I went from Stock > TnT Lite > VEGAn > Cyanogen > VEGAn
I think i'm going to stick with VEGAn until I see something with Gingerbread then Honeycomb.

"This is a quote from their website:
Just a quick update for everyone so you know where we stand at this point. Because of all the issues I have had trying to reverse engineer fixes into VEGAn, we have decided to move away from the actual VEGA system image. We have decided to move the project to a MODIFIED CyanogenMod 7 (aka Gingerbread) ROM with “inspiration from VEGA”. This will allow us to not only fix issues more easily but our work would also directly benefit the CM7 camp as well. This would give also give everyone the choice of a completely stock gingerbread like ROM as well.
THERE IS NO ETA AS OF YET FOR A RELEASE. When there is one…. you all will be the first to know! Exciting Times Ahead.

[Q] Are these legit Gingerbread instructions on Motorola Bravo

Hey Guys. Ive been googling my heart out for anything related to 2.3 for the bravo, and found a set of instructions. Cant post links, but if you google Motorola bravo 2.3, its the first result. The main url is android50. Does anyone know if those instructions actually work? They look pretty sketchy, but also pretty specific when it comes to that sort of thing. Anyways. I cant post in the Development section yet, so if some nice mod or someone wants to move this over there, be my guest.
Here's the link. http://www.android50.com/Topic/view/id-9421
I don't like it. The wording just sets me off. O yea, and there's the post about updating to 3.0.... http://www.android50.com/Topic/view/id-9420
Definitely not buying it. Also a reference to some random zip?
ew, I didnt notice the 3.0 page. The zip on that one is the same one on the 2.3 page (hc_NS_test-8.1.zip). Mannnn thats a bummer. Oh well, someone will figure it out eventually.
edit: Found hc_NS_test-8.1.zip. Its a real android build, but it seems to be 3.0 according to the build.prop. Weeeiiirrrrdddd.
Would be nice to have but I wonder what type of performance losses / gains you'd achieve by running 3.0 . Would be fun to try but not worth bricking a phone over

It wouldnt work, period. 3.0 needs a dual core processor, I think.
Yeah I am sure the post regarding the instructions is fake.

[Q] Infused or MIUI

i am currently running the infused rom on my infuse 4g and i am noticing a lot of people talking about the MIUI rom. can someone tell me the big differences in the roms that makes them stand out from eachother. which one is more user friendly and such. i have uploaded a screenshot of my homescreen using go launcher ex.
really no replies yet? c-mon people help me out. i have been looking around and found a new rom that looks amazing. i am not a total noob at this stuff i know what i am doing. the new rom that i am looking at is called sensation rom and it looks amazing kudos to the guy that designed it. if you are running it please feel free to fill me in about it too. i am looking to flash a new rom soon and want to know what is the best that i can get for my infuse. here is the link for the sensation rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325177
again all the help i can get from here would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS
you can wait longer than an hour lol
to get an idea of how the roms are different, you can watch some videos on youtube.
miui is a big change from most roms, it's probably best to just flash and see if you like it. it's not like flashing is permanent

the sense Rom is good, i will leave it at that.
i dont like to hype Roms, cuz they are different for everyone....you may not like the features on one while someone else absolutly loves them. Miui is the MOST customizable rom that is out there. Cm7 is a great Rom as well. i can find good things to say about most roms i have tried on the infuse. and i have Tried them ALL...lol
i say flash away, if your not a Noob - i know your not scared of a brick right.
take the time and see if you like it, if not Flash another and another and for ****s and giggles flash another.
trial and error is the only way to really see if a rom works for you.
It's al about personal opinion man, in my opinion, you should backup your current rom and then flash miui and give it a try. the worst that can happen is that you won't like it and all you have to do is restore from your backup.
Its just two ROMs..!! And you are on Infused. Try out MIUI for a couple days and keep what you liked more.

I've just flashed to MIUI. This is purely my opinion alone.
- It's has a very clean interface with no "crapware" at all. I've to install everything from scratch. That's a plus point anyway.
- And there's multitude of customization that can be done. From themes, to settings, etc.
- But the thing that I don't really like is all my installed app sitting pretty on the home screen.
- I do notice that it's faster than the original infuse interface. Faster browsing too.
- I think it has problems handling more than 4 gmail accounts and Google voice seem to be working erratically.
Apart from that, everything works fine and I'm still figuring it out further.
Think of MIUI as a REALLY REALLY GOOD knock off of iOS.
its CM7 with a skin. lol. basically.

youtube would be a great idea if i werent at work where it is blocked. haha. but thanks for all your help everybody. i may flash MIUI just to try it out. thanks!
Personal preference tbh.
so just to cover my ass a little, if i make a backup of my current rom using rom manager and i dont like MIUI i can always restore from the backup that i made? and when i do decide to get MIUI what and where should i get it from?
MIUI is in the developers section of the infuse forums. It is usually on the first page due to so many people posting on it, it isn't hard to find.
well i did it. i flashed to MIUI and i am going to see if i like it. so far i am not happy. i had my phone to backup all my contacts to google and it didnt and i even moved them to my sim card. so i lost all my contacts. but all in all its going to take some getting used to. will either upload pics at some point or maybe make a video to help people like me who are a lil iffy on rom flashing.
thanks guys for all your help!
I've been running MIUI for 3 weeks now and I LOVE it.....sleek, customizable, fast, faster browsing than stock....but I would recommend trying both to find the one that works for you
