[Q] Battery travel case - Nexus One Accessories

A friend has a blackberry, and he carries a few (i know) backup batteries. Getting past that absurdity...he has these small cases that the batteries drop into. They have a plastic door like lid, and have a micro usb port on them to charge the battery without it being in the device. Does anyone know if this exists for nexus one batteries? I've searched google images for a few minutes to try and find and example, but with no success. (I'll keep looking, and will post if I find one.)
I have my doubts, but this would be awesome to have.
Thanks All.

Id love to know and have also seen the blackberry ones, are the batteries the same size i wonder? I also saw a really cool flip on the go charger by dexo or something dca152 but i dont know if the nexus would fit?

I just took a look on their site. They do iPhone and blackberry. Seems the blackberry one charges though contacts on the back of the device. These would have been cool, but no such luck.

not exactly what you're asking about but...
the last two chargers i bought off ebay charge a 2400Mah nexus battery in 3-4 hours from 1% (dead) to fully charged, and have a usb port on the bottom also. So, if you carry a micro usb cable, you can charge two batteries at once (one in phone, one in charger) and then a third on another charger. at least you'll have three 2400 mah batteries charged in a few hours, and it's very difficult to burn through that much juice in a day.
even shooting HD video, you'll be swapping micro sd cards before batteries if you get a 2400 or larger battery.
the replacement batteries of stock size charge on my ebay chargers in about 45 minutes or less. just a reference.

Do you have a link to show which charger on eBay?

I've been thinking about something like this, so I can charge on the go without having to power off and replace the battery. The best I could come up with was v3 of the minty boost -> http://www.ladyada.net/make/mintyboost/

Car 12v-usb and cable bought on ebay wont charge.

Hello, ive bought these on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-CAR-CHARGER.../180497049900?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories
http://cgi.ebay.com/Micro-USB-Data-...ARE-BB-Storm-/170525850383?pt=PDA_Accessories
Trying to use them to charge my phone in my car, but no go. When i connect the cable it asks me if i want to connect to kies, mass storage etc. I just press the back button, and phones tells me its charging, when in fact, its not, battery is actualy draining, and it gives me some weird msg about sd card. (In norwegian)
Any way to resolve this, or do i have to buy an original samsung charger?
did you try the USB cable on your computer?
does it charge when you plug it into the computer using the USB cable you got off ebay?
possibly the car charger is bad, if the USB cable works on your computer
I havent yet, i will do so and report back
The cable does not charge in the pc, and i can not mount my sd card on my pc with the cable, so, i guess its the cable then
Maybe this will do the trick: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Sync-Charge...895319?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20b30c83d7
They say its for samsung i9000
Also! have you made sure the charger supplys the right amps, if you get one even with the right voltage if not the right amps you will still get battery drain! I had this issue when the gf's blackberry charger got swapped with my hero charger by accident, took me ages to realise why the battery was still draining when using co pilot on long car journeys!!
get this one instead
2000 mAh (2A) charger

Get the HTC C200 charger.
I paid a lot for this phone so paying 15 euros dollars for a car charger makes sense
paying more for something that comes from the same manufacturing center (China) will not make it any better.
Thanks for all the good tips. Ill check those out

I've used cheap ass car chargers and all they do is get hot and aren't very efficient. Have a HTC mini usb charger and it stays cool while charging, which means it isn't wasting any power...so to me...its worth paying extra

I purchased this product mainly because I was sick and tired of running down one battery and then having to switch without a way to charge the first one. So at the end of the day I would have two dead batteries. This can charge the battery in your phone as well as a spare. You can charge any size battery in the spare battery tray, which is really cool.
You can see from the image how it works. Because of the stupid design of the Epic4g charging port, it requires a cable to be plugged into the top of the phone. There are two led's, one red for the spare battery in the back and one blue for the phone. There are two ways to charge the phone, USB and a wall plug. The spare battery requires that the wall plug be used to charge. The phone will charge with either the wall plug or the USB cable.
The dock does not fit any extended case. The Epic naturally leans back in the slot, but it can be wiggled forward a good inch.
From the 10 minutes I have had and used this thing, I would absolutely recommend it. Please ask any questions you have.
does it come with the spare battery??
No. It comes with the dock and a wall charger.
I think you may have sold me on one. I have seen these before with an OEM battery but since I have Yoobao and my OEM battery already I don't need another. The price is right. thats for sure,
Yea, I figured it would be great for my needs. I dont need audio out or anything like that. Just needed something to charge the batteries while im not using them. Works flawlessly for that.
The blue charging LED on this thing is seriously the strongest LED I have seen. Huge blue circle on my ceiling.

[Q] Chinese "Portable Power Bank" 12000/20000 mAh. Is it any good?

Hi there
Have you seen this bad boy before?

I think it has been around for some time (eBay and such), but it was added to the Dealextreme product line this April (link: http://dx.com/p/portable-dual-usb-12000mah-external-battery-power-bank-w-8-charging-adapters-black-184376?utm_source=dx&utm_medium=edm&utm_campaign=20130320new-arrivals-2)
There's a good chance it's not exactly 12000/20000 mAh, but even it's not exactly that, it sure sounds like a pretty good deal anyways.
Do any of you know if this really works intended? Or have you tried it?
Thanks in advance, appreciate it.
I got a 30000mah version of the same box from ebay. Came two days ago, plugged it in to charge, it was alost full when it came. Next day, I opened the box to see what's inside. There were 8 18650 cells and a small usb pcb. So far so good. I hooked up the cells (in packs of 4) to my external battery charger in discharge mode and I got 2500mAh from each 4 pack. That is 5000mAh from both. Not even close to the 30000mAh advertised. It is possible that I got a dud, but my guess is they are recycled laptop cells that just don't hold any charge anymore. I did a full charge/discharge cycle with my external charger and still go the same capacity when going from 3V-4.2V.
Then I tested the range of the USB circuit, and it supplies about 1.6A on the 2.1A port and 1.4A on the 1.0 port. The board shuts off when the battery voltage gets to 3.2V.
In summary - if you get a good set of batteries, expect about 50% of the capacity. If you get bad set, like I did, expect more like 15% of the capacity.
There is a reason a the best panasonic 3400mAh cell costs $14. If these battery banks were really close to 30000mAh in 8 cells, would have cost > $100 just for the cells.
I'm guessing the 12000 has 4 cells and the 20000 has 6 cells with the same USB circuit in them.

This is the first time I've heard about this and it pretty much looks like a cheap chinese product.. Might even damage the Nexus 5.
In my experience...

I wouldn't buy it. If you need more battery, check out Anker portable chargers. I haven't had a problem with mine after a year.

This one is very slim you can have it plugged in pocket with the phone.
Note that when using a battery to charge a battery you get two lots of 20% loss from the electronics in the external and internal so 5000mah becomes in reality about 3000mah, so you're going to get max time if you connect the external battery during times of peak power use of the phone, such as when sat using the phone so you get only one lot of 20% loss so 5000mah becomes more like 4000mah not 3000mah so if you plugged it when using your phone at times of when plugging a battery is not an issue then you're nearly tripling your overall times.
Also note that not external batteries are the same, a key one is if they are 1A or 1.5A or 2A input, the 1A input take a long time, usually overnight, to charge. The above one is 2A.
If I'm travelling I pair with a dual socket 2x2A brick like this one. So from any time I'm sat next to a power socket I'm making best use of the time charging 2A to the slim battery and 2A to the phone. That means you are not increasing your charging time at same time as tripling your battery time.

Choetech quick charger 3.0

I've got my hands on a choetech quick charge 3.0 wall charger. I've been using it on my HTC A9 for a bit now and it works great. I don't pay much attention to q.c 2.0 and 3.0 but it does make a difference when you look for it

The unit itself is very slim and easy on the pocket by having a straight design. The one thing I hate on wall units is when the power pins are facing to the side of the wall charger as it makes it hard to carry in the pocket.
Here are some pictures of it:

The info of this charger are the following:
CHOE Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Wall Charger Designed with Lasted Technology
Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0: The latest, fastest and most efficient USB charging technology in the world. Up to 4X faster than standard chargers, able to charge compatible devices to 80% in just 35 minutes.
I'm very happy with this charger and so far I enjoy it. The products by choetech are my recent favorite. I've found their products to be at anker or even better than. The USB cables in their products last me while ankers tend to stop working a lot. Here is a picture of the included USB cable.
I did find an issue that causes an annoying humming when the unit is plugged into a power source.
I also might add that I'll be getting the updated version soon so I'll update this post if I notice any difference.
If you've got any questions regarding the product please do ask below!
What's different in the updated version of this charger?
