Hi-
I'm looking for an app that will give specific control with respect to which apps can use data or wifi, without rooting the phone. I understand DroidWall provides this feature, but I'd prefer not to root my phone.
Thanks for the help!

I just got my first android phone recently, and I've gotten pretty hooked on Grooveshark.
Unfortunately I have a very limited data plan, and as such I need to be sure it doesn't keep streaming if I accidentally lose my Wifi connection.
Does anyone know of any program that could maintain a blacklist/whitelist of apps that are allowed internet acces, that's also dependent on the nature of the current data connection?
After further searching I found DroidWall
I don't know of an application that meets your specific criteria, but perhaps you could achieve your goal with 'Tasker' . It's not an free app, so I suggest you ask around on its forum first.
Droidwall does it

I use Droidwall, and if I forget and install a new app I go through a "Why doesnt this work" then remember droidwall, open up that app, and it does. There's a widget that lets you toggle the wall on/off. also useful for something that doesnt really need to access the internet, like a game. Lookout might also work, but I havent really dug in to everything it does.
i need an app to supervise other apps
i need it to
tell me what apps is using the internet and to stop the ones i choose
the process running in the back without the system processes
also to save a log for the apps and what they are doing.
plz if someone knows an app that can do this or different apps
help me.
I use Onavo for the monitoring, you can restrict apps to wifi easily & it'll tell you which apps are potential data hogs. I find it easier to navigate than the ICS built in data monitor
You can also tell it your data limit & it'll give you usage info & awarning when you're near your limit

Droidwall can block specific apps from using wifi or 3g.

I use onavo, it alerts you to the apps that consume more data. and if you want to control the use of the apps battery, Badass battery.
Avast Mobile Security
Which Doubles As A Capable Antivirus Too
Now Thank You In Advance For You Thanking Me
LBE Privacy Guard. So many possibilites to control your apps premissions, that you will be able to supervise any event that apps are trying to run it in backround. Sending sms by apps, reading contact list, using gps localisation... many many more. You can also set profiles for apps (disable 3g but let enable wifi for your app for example, or reject/accept both. It's short discripition what can this app do. Check more at dev page. Must have for rooted. And Free.

I used to use Full Control with great success for my Xperia Z ultra, but since it updated to Lollipop it no longer works. I've looked in to some other apps for children and teens but they either have a horrible graphic overlay on the phone or simply don't do what I want. Basically I want the phone to look and act as normal, but I want the choice to exclude certain apps from accessing the Internet, like Google play or chrome. These could be accessible but only with a password. Or is there a way to inherently restrict access to chrome and play in lollipop? I don't want to have to create another user account.
Help would be appreciated!
WEll you need root for this

well i didn't see any xperia ROM on any sony device that has a custom firewall by default for this purpose. And i am still sure that it is highly unlikely that sony still included something in their roms. What you need is to root your phone. Then you can install a firewall by searching on xda. That will allow you to add a layer of security against internet access for you. It stand between your allowed apps and non allowed apps fo internet as gate keeper. But beware rooting will ruin your warranty status. You no longer can enjoy warranty from sony after rooting.
Hi all,
I am looking for a way to fully restrict access to settings (without using a password app) & certain apps on my companies Android devices. This is so no customer/clients/employees can mess around with the settings.
I have successfully done this in the past using Tom Tom devices (cloning and reimaging thousands of devices using SD) but the new tablets we have are unnamed Chinese phone tablets.
I have explored the option of creating a restricted user but this sadly only allows me to restrict certain apps (not even the settings app). To get this option, I had to root the device and add a few lines to the properties file as this wasn't supported/ hidden on the device.
I would like to restrict access to everything except wifi, mobile data, camera & app updates/installs & our custom apk. Any ideas?
- I'm open to creating a custom ROM but since this is the companies device, I'm scared to brick
Firmware Version: 4.4.2
(Edit: Highest software available for the device is 4.4.2 according to update utility)
Device Model: SOTEN82_WE_KK
(According to Kingo Root screen before root)
Do I need to add more info?
Anyone?
Bump
Perhaps you have to root the device, and need some management app for your purpose.

Can you recommend a management app? This has to be easily reversible/cloned

Sorry for that I have not a management app now. But on my mobile phone, there is a stock feature, Student Mode.
The screenshot as below. FYI.
Where do you find student mode?
There are some apps I want to have access to wifi only. This used to be an easy task, but after recent updates I see I can only restrict background data now. I am willing to use ADB if that is required to restrict data usage for specific apps.
If your device is rooted, then you could use a firewall like afwall+ to restrict to only being allowed to use wifi.

Not rooted. I wonder why Google removed this capability?
There are non-root firewalls. They act like VPNs which lets them control networking for Individual apps.

Regarding non-root firewalls I can recommend the open source firewall NetGuard by M66B which provides exactly what you @MrTooPhone are looking for.
I prefer a setting vice vice a third party app. This used to be an easy setting under Data. Still don't understand why Google removed it.

Stock Android has never had the option for disabling data for individual apps. Background data for individual apps- yes. CyanogenMod/LineageOS has always had the ability to completely disable data access on a per-app basis, however.

Not an Android feature and never was. Third a party VPN like AdGuard which includes other benefits
