Guys,
Today got a chance to test the Headphones supplied with the DHD.
I have a weird problem...
The Forward button the remote rewinds the song and vice versa.
was a bit confused that i might be wrong....after repeated testing founf that the forward button rewinds and rewind button forwards the song.
Not a real problem though, can live with it...but want to know, if any one else is facing the same issue

Just tried mine for the first time. No such problems. Are you reading the buttons correctly?
YEs...am pretty sure...when the Head phones are in my ear...
the button which shows upwards is suppose to forward the song...and the button facing downwards is supposed to rewind the song. - this is the Normal Behaviour.
Mine is just doing the reverse...May be wrong wiring

theres no problem
thts the way it is..
the one upwards is supposed to rewind
the one going downwards is supposed to forward
when u hold it horizontally then u can make out properly...
@Mohit - it doesn't make any sense to me...when kept horizontal the button which points right needs to Forward and not rewind.
am pretty sure there is aLogical mistake here....

keep them the other way horizontal
wen they r horizontal u will see the phone icon b4 the play/pause icon (middle button)
u r holding it the wrong way
then if u look at it the proper way, then upwards is supposed to rewind and downwards is forwards...
trust me, theres no problem...ur just looking from a different viewpoint...
Thanks Mohit, appreciate it man...
Got used to it now...So No problems...

I have been using dutty's roms for a while and love them.. I have not tried any other roms.
Is there a program or a way to easily adjust the volume.. perhaps
using the OK button on the side to bring up the volume and then the scroll wheel up or down...
Maybe this exist's? or maybe its just a reg tweak of remaping the OK button to bring up the volume slider.
If this is possible your input would be appreciated without grilling me... for asking a silly question.
i usually hit the speaker icon with my stylus... and then use the scroll wheel.. on my HTC wizard it worked like that. I dont use the ok button. so this would be great..
I would like also like to know this.

Ditto. I'm left-handed and hardly ever use the jog wheel for selecting because it is uncomfortable. I would be satisfied with reassigning it completely to volume control.
glad i am not the only one..
I was wondering if i was the only one who wanted this feature.. but i guess I am not... It seems there must be a way to remap the ok button to the volume slider.
One the volume slider pops up, the scroll wheel works already. Its hard when your driving top get out the stylus or even use your thumb to hit the little speaker icon which is tiny..
I dont use the ok button or the scroll wheel very much so this would be great.

I Dutty's ROM's if you disable the large start menu then the jog wheel will once again control your volume.....as far as remapping it to a different button I do not know the answer.
I checked v1.1 info on this rom:

# Unable to change incall volume (with scroll wheel) due to HTC Large Title Bar, which can be uninstalled now
So maybe it's because of HTC Large Title bar?
We want to be able to press a button to make the volume/phone box pop up, just as if you had pressed the speaker icon in the title bar. Just wanted to clarify that. The jog wheel works for volume you control when you select an app FIRST that has volume options to it, but the point is you have to select that first (i.e. volume sliders on title bar).
Right now if you are on your today screen and use the jog wheel, your scroll through today options (whatever plugisn you have enabled), not volume control
what is being asked here is if you can map one of the buttons to display the volume/phone pop up box. THen we'd be able to control via jog wheel.

Ohhh very nice, good find. Thanks
Ahh to bad, breaks on kaiser.
you can see the volume controls pop up briefly and incomplete but then they pop right down.

dang.. I just tried it and it works on my trinity. Apparently it was extracted from wisbar advanced, so perhaps you can find a working version of that and extract the appropriate file.
It is sort of working actually. Just sometimes it doesnt. better then nothing though
Still hoping for solution!
thanks for the input. I hope this thread does not die. It is one of my major gripes. The Wizard did it perfectly but the Kaiser does not.
Hopefully someone can change this. even if the ok button does not work, than maybe we can get the scroll wheel button to do it. I did not realize that the scroll wheel was a button also..
cool i am going to try as well

I copied the exe to my phone, but how do i map it to the ok button..
It runs if i use file manager to locate the file. If you could tell me what you did would be great.
If you create a short cut for the .exe file and place it in the "\windows\start menu\programs" folder you will see it then when you go to map a button.

Hey guys I assigned this app to the ptt button on my Tilt and it works perfectly!
One push and I can use the jog wheel to adjust volume, another push and it's gone.
Great find thanks!!!
Ok I just upgraded my radio from 1.27.12.11 to the recommended radio for my rom, 1.58.26.20 and am now seeing the problem being discussed here.
The balloon will pop up, but only momentarily, then closes. If you hit it enough times though it'll actually stay open.
Maybe this is an issue with radio compatibility? It seemed to work perfectly with the 1.27.12.11 radio.
[edit] Soft reset and it seems to be working again.

I got the program working but could not assign it to the OK button under the jog wheel. I was able to assign it to OK on the front panel.. I use the PTT button for Voice Commander... It still would be nice to assign it to the ok button seeing that, that button is useless otherwise.

Hi all...
does anyone know how well the dpad (or the wheel thing) works..
so for example will be able to play games on it... like... a driving game in hori mode??
thx for any help
i will be upgrading from a tytn, so i wanna make sure that it would be better than upgrading to tytn2
It is a technically much more competent device than the tytn 2, but I would have to say that playing games on it would be harder, at least until the tilt sensor is incorporated in to game controls !
thx buddie
but is the touch round (bottom, centre) still able to work as a dpad?

The button in the centre is just that -- a button (i.e. not a DPAD).
The directional controls (DPAD) are around the button just on the perimeter of the round light that surrounds the centre button.
I would have to say that playing games with the DPAD on the TP would be horrendous since there is a tendency to press the Home, OK, Phone and End Call buttons accidentally when pressing a direction. This is fine in daily application use because you can "train" yourself to learn the DPAD but in a game setting it would get frustrating to say that least.
I hope this helps.
I was using the diamond in a store the other day and couldn't get the hang of the dpad. I was surfing the web and couldn't jump in the right direction with the links and I kept accidentally launching links that I was trying to jump from. Th dpad seemed like a horrible design. Is it something that a user can get the hang of to the point that it will seem as easy to use as any dpad?

I hardly use it, and from what I can tell the Touch HD (HTC Blackstone) does not even have one (but I might be wrong on that) when web browsing I zoom in on a link I want, tap on it and then read the result zoomed out !
Up / Down buttons are still usable, but left / right are horrible. It's very easy to press home or green button while using them.
Seems HTC is trying to make us stop using it, so they can drop it from their phones
Why is it so hard to push the left and right keys? they should have made it just like the up and down keys.
I want to play frogger and you just cant do it lol
Is there anyway around this?
I agree. It is SOO HARD
is there any way to "hard mod" it by like dremaling holes in the faceplate and just attaching little button nubs to the sensor? anyone tried this? i would rather it worked than looked pretty....seriously htc, what the heck.
just find the point between the home icon and phone icon an press it over and over on each side it really is a "sweet spot" as described in another thread. Once you get it it will come naturally, at least for me it did

I've had my Fuze since launch and it is still hit and miss. The bad thing is gaming, when you really rely on the buttons... you don't have time to look down and get the thumb placement 100% right. This is the problem.
What I would LOVE to see happen is to completely get rid of the Today and Back buttons, since I never use them anyway. The Red End key works as a Today button and I'm accustomed to using the X close button to minimize/close my apps.
With the Today and Back buttons disabled it would be much easier to use Left/Right because then you wouldn't have to worry about ending up at the today screen.
OR an even better solution would be to simply re-assign the Today and Back keys as softkeys (which could then be reassigned in the game's button mapping) or remap the hard keys to Left/Right for easy use. Either way it would work pretty well.
For the time being... I wonder if you could place a small circular sticker on the "correct" placement... thus fooling the sensor that every time it is pressed it "see's" the sticker thinking it is your thumb and triggers left/right actions.
OR if that doesn't work... what about finding the correct placement location and installing some kind of "dimple". Like a small half-bubble-like sticker that will enable you to "feel" where the correct spot is. This way when your playing, you could at least find the dimple, and press... all without looking.
Just a few ideas. I haven't tried any of them, so if anything works let me know.
I might honestly have to abandon this phone for just this reason. I am always exiting out of programs cause that damn right press button is so unreliable. And i've read where you should be pressing, but it doesn't help. it is so sporadic as to what actually happens. I need reliability, and this d-pad is so not. Coming from the hermes which had lots of hard buttons i could have lived with a dpad like this (cause it's easier to get back to where u were), but since this hasn't got any buttons i need the dpad that much more to be on point.
Out of 10 presses of the D- "right" button, how many times are you all hitting it correctly?
once i figured out that the you have to press pretty far compared to the up & down, i havn't misclicked at all.
But you are right, its a pretty stupid design and I find myself using the touch screen much more because of it.

You can try using Gscroll. works great as alternative to a d-pad
Correct
I get the same prob.. I haven't got the thickest of thumbs but somehow I keep missing the precise point needed to get this button to function. Just add this to the growing list of flaws.
The area just outside the outer ring immediately beyond the < > keys should allow you to scroll. You don't need to try and scroll using the inner ring circle.
Are you saying its not working this way?
It works this way for me, but it's not reliable enough to hit it 100% of the time. I think HTC dropped the ball on usability here. If you're on the edge of the scroller and press that should be a right, left, up down etc... when there is no clear button it's hard to press...
I'd gladly give up the nice look of the smooth face for some real buttons like my TyTn had.
Someone needs to design a new Dpad for this device!
Rplace the whole bottom panel with something better. Ie- a real Dpad and real buttons.
The Palm Treos have really nice Dpads. And for further inspiration, you can just look at any Nintendo device or controller.
How hard would it be ?

I know exactly what you mean. I keep hitting the home button.
So now I just don't use the D-pad at all
Greetings all.
Does anyone know of a good way of locking the screen while making a phone call? I've tried proximity sensor, which does not work on my phone. I currently have my time out setting at 15 seconds, but that does not work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm sick of face dialing/hanging up.
Proximity sensor does not work at all for me, either. I have been begging and begging people on the forum to help come up with a way to remove or disable the huge "End call" button, as I am constantly hanging up on people with my face.
It is the number one suckiest thing about my Hero right now.
oh, i am looking for this kind of software but found nothing
Probably one of the best "answer/hang up" functions I saw was with SIPdroid. Slide up to answer, slide down to hang up. Of course, the data service is not good enough to always use that though.....
I put the notification bar down down, but it seems almost buggy, sometimes the notification bar stays down and sometimes it just moves up by itself again.
Hit the home button to get out of the dialer window...

And, then, enjoy the vibrations as you move your homescreen icons around with your face.
Why is there so much resistance to figuring out how to either lock the screen during a call or just disable or remove the stupid soft "End call" button?
Is it significantly more difficult than changing the button color or creating a ROM?

Home button is cool if you happen to only touch the end call button and never anything else. I personally called a friend and sent 4 blank texts to someone, don't ask me how....
Home button will cause as many problems. Notification bar coming down is the best way I've found....
an even better way. hold the menu button down.

Well, google is my friend, i don't know why I doubted ye...
Screen Suite does it for me. The app is $1.99, but it has a setting where it automatically locks the screen on calls.
A bluetooth headset negates that problem completely......

How do you like it? I found it and it seemed kind of bloated with a lot of features I don't need. Does it eat up memory/power?

I don't get why you guys are having so many issues with this, my phone screen locks at the default of 30s when in calls, it has done this as long as I have had the phone.

Mine usually does. Unless it thinks I'm pressing things with my face, which keeps it awake.
That is... if my face doesn't end the call by the time the 30 seconds is up. My guess? It's probably the shape of our faces?
I just try to hold the bottom part of the screen away from my face. Once the screen turns off I've never hung up on someone.

Hmm another good one! Any keyboard presses do anything nasty? I'm on swype but I wonder if hitting the mic button on the hacked keyboard would do anything annoying.
Thanks for the tip!
My main problem is when my wife calls, and wants to talk to my son. His face is a lot smaller, and well, everything get screwed up when he uses the phone. As for the program, it does have a lot of features, but all I did was have it set to auto-lock on phone calls. I still have my default vanilla lock screen.
Lack of a both a proximity sensor and dedicated screen-off button is this phone's single unforgivable flaw.
I will never again buy a touchscreen device without at least one of these.
