Galaxy Tab APKs on the G Tablet [UPDT 12/7](APKs POSTED) - G Tablet General

Does anyone know if we can use the Galaxy Tab APKs on the g Tablet?
I tried the email, contacts and calendar ones but I get the "could not be installed" error.
I can post the APKs from a T-Mobile Tab andthe build.prop file also if anybody thinks it can be done...

If you can post 'em online somewhere, I'll give it a shot. I have had some success in getting alternate apk's running/working in the past, so I'll try with the Galaxy Tab apk's.

The tab has a lot of proprietary frameworks so it may be difficult.

I just downloaded the e-mail APK from the following link and it worked great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810454
UPDATE: Scratch that...it opens but doesn't download e-mail. And it's FC'ing. I spoke too soon! But, it has a great interface...I wonder if there are other e-mail apps out there that look this slick.
Regards,
Sonny

There's another thread asking about e-mail apps, but I can't find it. BUT, given that I can't get the Galaxy e-mail APK to load and run, what e-mail client do you all suggest? I tried Seven Mail, but it doesn't work on tablets with no 3G.
Any great e-mail clients?

I use K-9 Mail with no problems over wifi.

APK from a Galaxy Tab
Here are the APKs from a Galaxy Tab(T-Mobile). I also included the build.prop, don't know if it's useful...
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9696880/Email.apk
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9696880/Contacts.apk
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9696880/Swype.apk
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9696880/build.prop
BTW, what is the .odex files I see with the same names as the APKs?
Here is the whole system/app folder: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9696880/app.zip

The Galaxy Tab e-mail client is pretty sweet looking. I wish there were something similar for the G-Tab. Does anyone know if there is? K-9 gets lots of great reviews, but to be honest, I'm not a fan. I really like the layout of the Galaxy e-mail.

Need help..... Anybody is running Galaxy Tab e-mail client on g-tab? I just can not make it work. using tnt 2.2.

I don't think it will work. I've tried a couple times, and can't get it working without constant FC'ing. If you figure it out, let me know.

My bad, pm me your email address and I will send it to you or I will repost it in a couple hours
Updated, sorry peeps
It just doesn't work on Gingerbread apparently..
Also, samsung's taken it off of "Samsung Apps"..
Such an amazing app, its so less known!
Can't any developer help here? Please!
"apk" and the "desktop-application" file are both still available on the net,
and i strongly believe its just a minor bug(with the new camera) that's the problem, as the app runs fine(connects with desktop client and all) till the camera tries to load up

Zinio & PressDisplay for Android from Galaxy Tab

Zinio, PressDisplay, and Readershub extracted from most recent version of Galaxy Tab ROM (JMA). (Actually the readershub was extracted from JK5). Zinio is not beta anymore.
works fine in Nexus One. Now the zinio preview shows the entire page, and allows work in landscape (but crashes often in landscape, works perfectly in portait).
Zinio Does not seem to work on Droid X, any suggestions?
It installs "succesfully" but doesnt add to app drawer, go to app manager and click launch, it returns error message "Activity not found - com.zinio.samsung.android"
EDIT: Figured it out, have to install readers hub, and luanch it, then click magazines to launch zinio!
-Thanks!
-M
Works great, just finished a magazine with no issues
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
What about the ebook reader included in the readershub can`t u rip it as well?
Works great on Desire Cyanogen mod 6.1.0 so far.
Thanks for posting - can you get magazines full screen on your device? I can not on my Tab (as others have posted elsewhere) I have to zoom in slightly to get the image. Not really usable this way, as you then need to zoom out to change pages.
What do this apps do?
Only annoying thing is that Zinio doesn't multitask. If u leave the app and try to return to it, you gotta reload the magazine you were reading.

thanks for posting the apks here. worked flawlessly on HTC DZ
Hi, i have a big question: will this work on one of those crappy chinese tablets for like 100/200 bucks? I really want this app to read my skateboarding and surf subscriptions. but i dont need an expensive tablet..
soooo.... would this work on a 10 inch tablet that has 2.2?
Please say yes!
Works on Dell Streak.
PressDisplay doesnt work too well in portrait mode as the page overlapping each other. but in landscape it work fine... anyway to solve this issue?
Thanks for posting this. I have been using Zinio on my Viewsonic G Tablet for a few weeks now and am loving it. It works fine in landscape or portrait mode for me. It shows all of my subscriptions except for one which is an "interactive" magazine.
I have sent Zinio support an email about it as all of their FAQs are telling me to uninstall and install the latest version of the reader. Hopefully they will turn me on to a newer apk.
Zinio/The Reader's Hub was one of the primary reasons that I bought my Galaxy Tab, and finally it's here and working as expected.
The press reader portion of the apps don't work. I can't create an account and the online store simply returns a "Can not connect to server"
Thank you lots!!!!
Finally I can read my zinio magazines in my SGS... not perfect but it works... remember to install the three files. Access to Zinio is through Reader's Hub under magazine...
Enjoy
Samsung Galaxy S
Works great on the Adam
This is exactly what I have been looking for. I have installed it on the Notion Ink Adam and it works without any issues.
Any idea if we can change the Zinio download folder (to say a SD card or a USB drive)?
Thanks,
Richard
Opened today and was greeted by a pop up saying this version is no longer supported! Anyone get a newer version? There is no updater that I could find! Anyone able to rip the update from galaxy?

Me, three. Just got it working on Nook Color and then i get the update message.
Me Four - Resolved
Hi
I had it partially working on my Archos 101 - worked fully in portrait but only text mode in landscape.
A couple of days ago I got the same non supported pop up with no way to upgrade.
Contacted support and a few hours later it was working again.

[Q] Clickable address links in Calendar?

Does anyone know what controls the ability to click on the address links in the "where" section of the calendar? Cognition is the only rom that does this. I've tried pulling the touchwizcalendar.apk and tochwizcalendarprovider.apk from cognition and putting it on other roms but still no address links. Although, I am able to click on phone #'s that are put in the description area, still nothing for addresses.
Just to clarify, I'm trying to find out how to add the ability to the calendar that when an address is put in the "where" field it automatically becomes a link that will launch maps and do a search for that address. -Thanks in advance
+1 This is one of the very very few features I miss from the Blackberry world. Any ideas?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Yea, I know it's possible because it's working on the cognition rom. The question is how do we transfer the ability to other roms.

Thanks but that's not quite what I'm looking for. There seems to be a way to get this functionality into the touchwiz calendar.
Gemini Calendar or Touch Calendar
Gemini Calendar or Touch Calendar. They both work.
I have the same issues with Galaxy ROMs.
Biggest complain - cannot dial conference bridge codes easily. I'm making manual change in the calendar to have "800CALLME;CODE" and then Copy-Paste to dialer.
Any progress?
Have you had any luck finding a way to add this functionality to the samsung calendar? I am having the same issue with the galaxy s2 and keen to try to work out how to fix it. am assuming the touchwiz calendar is similar on the two devices.
I think that is a feature only on the ATT stock systems which the Cognition ROM closely resembles. I wish I could have this feature but I have never seen it working on any 2.2.1 I9000 ROMS or the newer 2.3.3 I9000 ROMS.
If anyone finds a solution, that would be awesome!
Just to check, are you saying it was an AT&T app separate from the Samsung touchwiz ones on most of their phones?
not really sure. I know that its still a samsung touchwiz app, but it for some reason it only worked when i was on Cog. Im no Dev or anything like that, just an observation I made while flashing

(App) Samsung ChatON service

Free messenger service from Samsung. Works on Android phones, Samsung Bada devices, and feature phones. Also devices on other mobile platforms as well like iOS and BlackBerry. Also web client to work from PC.

Official Samsung blog: http://translate.google.com/transla...amsung.com/index.jsp&sl=ko&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8
Rumored to be launched in IFA Berlin.
It's kind of like WhatsApp, but what I really like about ChatON is the fact that you can access it from the web.
I'll sure take a look, when it comes out!
Hopefully this is good sounds fantastic. We need more competitors rolling out messaging services to rival and or make a better product close as BBM.
sounds great.
When will this be available for download??
Wanna give this a try, hope it's good and catches on.

Market or Samsung Apps! Search 'ChatON' in Samsung Apps, or search for 'Samsung ChatON' in the Market, be sure to +1 it!
I was really looking forward to use this app but it seems its not compatible with landscape oriented phones. I have the Samsung Galaxy pro and it appears that its not compatible. I don't know how they didn't make it compatible with my phone being that it has a hardware keyboard and its mainly use for messaging. I hope they solve this because its not going to be my phone only but the two new galaxy pros.
Edit: I installed with the apk and apparently it works in landscape also. All that is left is that the verification code arrives in my phone.

APK in Zip file
Please note, the Zip is NOT flashable.
Market link is here too https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sec.chaton
Bizarre. I downloaded the ZIP and installed on my device, but the market link says it is not compatible with my device model. Um, it's installed and running. Now, I still have not gotten the verification code via sms, but it is installed and running. Way to go Samsung.
Edit: It actually says it cannot be installed in my country (I'm in Canada), yet when I opened it, it knew I was in Canada and set the country code properly.)

I installed it first time using samsung Apps (where the APK is from) and got the verification code instantly.
I've removed it and installed from the market (so I can get proper updates) and yeah.... no verification code
I say give it time, probably too many requests
Yeah, that's what I figured. It most likely is not available in my country right now as well because they are trying to "roll" it out over a few countries so there isn't so many requests for codes. Us "geeks" jumping the gun

i can't get the verification code but the app seems to be working on my nexus s without force closing. the market says my phone is incompatible

Chrome to Mobile - Team EOS 2.0

Hi,
I can't post in the main thread so hopefully someone sees this. i'm trying to use the Chrome-to-mobile extension on my desktop to send links to my xoom, but it's not doing anything. i have all the settings correct i think. is this just something that doesn't work on roms? i never got to try it on stock before flashing.
i tried googling and searching but looking for the words "chrome" and "mobile" doesn't exactly provide great results!
thanks!!!
i dont know if this would help but if you install chrome beta on your xoom, and your signed into google on your pc, if you open chrome on xoom, then at bottom it shows you other devices that are signed in to your account and any open tabs that are open on your comp, maybe not what your looking for but thought it might help
Did you try checking your settings in Chrome Mobile? I believe there is an option for Chrome to Mobile, and it just may be disabled.
Hope that helps
Thanks! I will check on the notification. I have everything checked tho. Unfortunately the issue now is I deleted my Xoom as a printer from my docs site and now it won't recognize a new device!
