And, bubby323, noobnl and I both - by the look of it - used the TAR. My copy came from ACS's source, noobnl got it... wherever he got it.
I'm still using the di18 modem do I need to flask the dk28 in recovery?

Just flash that's what I did... if you want to be safe you can wipe the cache but not data.

deano/ptfdmedic/pzengota, I'm all out of thanks at the moment, but I'll be giving thanks as soon as I have them.
I've been on the ec05 modem since the bonsai team released the odin tar file, but soon after started seeing some bug or issue with data. 3G would just drop out and go to 1x randomly and both would be terribly slow, like 1kbps slow, yeah very annoying. I had this issue on bonsai 4.0, midnight5 and srf 1.1.0.
Flashing this zip over the ec05 modem seemed to fix my radio issues, again thanks much!!

I don't have any bugs that I know of, and I'm still running Bonsai4All 3.0.1 (waiting for 4.0.1 and any issues to be ironed out of 4.0.0) so I'm not sure what the actual benefits are to go from EB13 to EC05.
My radio goes in and out, I'm on ec05 from dc18, never rooted stock epic.
How can I perform this update and do I need to be rooted to do this???

Thought some of you might want to see some custom boot animations(like on TRIGGER)!!!
This is the KB5 kernel that Krylon360 modded to allow bootanimation.zip... I just made it cwm flashable. should work flashed over any rom.
Instructions:
Delete the bootsamsung.qmg & bootsamsungloop.qmg files from /system/media
Push a custom bootanimation.zip to /system/media
Delete the PowerOn.wav file from /system/etc
Quickboot to recovery
Flash KB5CUSTOMKERNEL.ZIP
Reboot!

Ya, at this stage, if you flash a new kernel....it overwrites the one your using now. @robbbbit will have to implement these changes to each kernel individually. The only way I know of to overwrite a kernel is if its essentially the same kernel with minor changes. It's impossible (from what I know) to take parts of one and add to another...without building it from source.

I know that we now have two custom roms now, but i think it would be good to have the options just like the modems. I cant believe were finally getting there! im so excited!!

Would have to do it from source I believe. Decompile to make changes, or compile from scratch. I don't know of any other way to make kernel changes.
