Best torrent app? - Android Apps and Games

Does anyone have any experience with different torrent apps available? Currently using AndTor, cost $2.99. Pretty happy with it, cept it can only DL 1 torrent at a time.
Not looking for a torrent manager, but a full featured client.

Red Torrent/Red Torrent Lite is the only other one I know of.
I haven't actually had a reason to use it yet, so I don't know how well it works, but it includes an option to download only on WiFi, and to automatically restart when WiFi reconnects. (These settings are in the free Lite version, not just the Full)

Swarm is the best one I've used yet.
There were many steps and columns. It was most tranquil.

Just dl'ed the lite ver and giving it a shot. Thanks for the recommendation.

Seems red torrent takes forever to queue a torrent, sticking w/ AndTor for now....

Not sure why but redtorrent crashes my android 2.1 phone (Xperia x10) whenever I try to add a torrent.
I don't even know why people would charge for a client, all PC/windows/linux clients are free. I'm using tTorrent lite (free) but it's limitation is 100KBps download speed.

andTorrent (Cant post links yet. Google it)

Swarm ftw.
Sent from my Galaxy S.

andtorrent is pretty ok

Having all sorts of issues wth andtor, but am sticking it out snce I already paid for it.
Dtor beta I tested for a bit but I kept getting fc's...and I said f-it.
I contacted the andtor dev and he's got some fixes/new-stuff on the way, so I'd keep an eye out there
Epic is as Epic does

how safe is it to torrent from a G2?..
like is t-mobile gona go all MPAA on my ass?

tTorrent is the best one I've used so far.

+1 for tTorrent.
Sent from my EVO 4G.

+1 for ttorrent, unless you don't want to download the whole torrent (it won't let you select individual files) then I use Swarm
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk

I really like swarm. The only problem I have with Swarm is that I couldn't find an option to stop downloading when I switch from WiFi to 3G network (though thanks to tasker I can automate it). In fact, I find that the program could use a lot more options.

the utorrent remote app is best

The one I am using at the moment is Swarm. Can really recommend it. Fast, stable and easy to handle.

Ya personally I love uTorrent. Great app and great program on a PC/Mac/Linux.

Logmein Ignition

can somebody please provide a mirror link?
Beta is up, but only for some markets (US/CA/UK...).
Maybe someone could share the .akp? (No idea if just the download or the functionality is blocked outside the geographic beta area)
Bax
PS: http://pages.logmein-inc.com/page.a...6e3a82c9e49b7b0581bca83d7254dea19a42bca84e44b
apk is private. I can't copy it. Anyone?
One way you can get it is to change your market location with Market Enabler:
http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/
Sprint in USA is 310120
Verizon in USA is 310012
Run Market Enabler, set your "location" with a custom entry (Either Sprint or Verizon) and then open Market. You should see logmein in search.
If someone can help me with copying the private apk, I'm happy to post it.

The LogMeIn Ignition Android Beta is now closed.
Not able to download from MarketPlace any longer. The only place I can find the LMI apk is at the above mediafire link. PS- Works great on a Verizon Incredible. Works like crap on G1. Need multi touch for it to shine.

Works perfectly fine on my G1 w/ Cyan 4.2.14.1.
I just got an email after registering. You basically get 120 hours of use or 30 days trial. Whichever one comes first. This is a REALLY cool app but I can't see myself using it enough to pay for.
Apparently a new version of this app has rolled out today. Anyone able to grab it and repost? Even with ME running and the right values, it won't show up in market for me. I think it's to do with what version of Android I'm running (2.1 AOSP build)
i installed succesfully the .apk posted before but it say trial expired.
is there a get-around? tnx

Yeah, you need the new one that was released on 6/1 - but no one's posted it yet

Doesnt Ignition require that you are a ignition-subscriber to work?

I paid £29 for this on the iPhone, was amazed it appeared to be "free" on Android. Bear in mind that with this app and LMI free services you can remote control loads of PCs/Macs etc via phone or web browser. I've got it set up with all the relatives computers for remote support, as well as my home server.
Seems kind of reasonable to pay for the convenience of the app: I'll buy this when it comes out, it's that good.

Yeah I have 9 computers in my LMI botnet myself :-D
But Ignition for pc is subscription based at 30-50usd a month I believe.
I cant justify paying that each month, if I did support through LMI for a living I would definitely consider it
But even if I wanted to pay I wouldnt be able to because google are being lazy bums in my country :'(

I'm usign their free service. Gives you ability to use a web browser on any PC anywhere to control all your machines, as well as use the Android app. You only pay for features like remote file sharing/printing etc.
My HTC desire can download this app but cannot install it. The app the site before could be installed but trial has expired.
It installed, but when I try to open, it says "trial period expired" and closes..
Edit: Never mind.. didn't look at the dates on the posts.

watch espn?

Does anyone have the app running? Can someone dl it and see if it will let you register? Mine is having problems.
i had the trial running for a day or 2. then it asked me to activate it. since im a comcast user, it wouldnt let me. i think if youre using verizon fios, or regular internet, you can activate it. i think i will borrow my buddy's log-in info for his fios to activate my watch-espn.
just a side note, there are way better sites for watching sports, now that we have flash player on the Tbolt.
Everything works fine for me, I have Verizon FiOS. Streams live, good sound, good quality.

atdhe.fm - my favorite. lots of everything
stopstream.tv - this one plays more of the popular games
espn3.com - the espn official online site. works good, but not a great selection.
rojadirecta.es - this one is kinda tricky, cant scroll on the phone, but can tether and then watch it on the laptop.
there is a few more. i just cant remember right now. got to dig through my bookmarks
veetle.com is another one. they have a mobile version of the site as well.

Someone on here linked me to the apk and I noticed it says I have the prime time subscription. Maybe that's why its not working?
could be your problem that could be your problem primetime version is the paid version 4.99 per year or 6 months something like that
Also hit the menu key to get into your preferences and preferences set it on allow access to the internet anytime
you may also have to set preference for battery saver I set mine to download only when charging

I just dished out the 9 bucks for the paid version in the market...best 9 bucks ever spent. It's such an amazing app and I have no regrets. Plus primetime gives you those shows that you really want...The selection is amazing

I contacted the developer. He said the older version (~1.XX) won't work on newer devices basically. The newest version works however, (~3.29)
The .apk floating around the internet is severely outdated. The only version you can get nowadays is the paid version on the market.

What's the premium selection like? How up to date are the episodes?
I've only had it for a couple of hours, I'd say the selection is good, but new shows don't sprout too often according to some reviews. I am pleased with the app though. I never found the "lite" version the developer was talking about.

I don't own an Aria (yet.... getting a refurb one soon just to add to the collection and play with using tools like this one), but from what I read about the items added to this rom, it's exactly what the title of the post says. It's a server.
Imagine taking the time to setup a separate box running Ubuntu or Red Hat or something to use as your own private linux server. Now skip all that and just install this rom. Bam, your phone that may have been sitting around collecting dust can now provide the same thing (albeit probably much slower).
A fully functioning apache web server, perfect for poking around with and learning the ins and outs of linux servers. Point your router to it, open port 80 and there you go. Serviing out web pages from your own little corner of the internet.
Hopefully I get time, I'd like to try this out. Any comments from anyone who's used this? I have an old HTC G2 (desire z) sitting around. I cleaned it up, rooted, and installed cyanogenmod on it. I've been playing around with an IP cam app and a couple FTS server apps.
One of my main concerns was powering the device. It gets super warm after prolonged usage, and I don't know how long the battery would handle 24/7 charging, or if it should even be a concern at all. To bad the phone wont power on while plugged in with the battery removed, like laptops.
I have an old Aria that I use as an MP3 player. Would this work for that? (using Google Play Music)
As all you guys might see, this one is quite old. Also, the download link is dead for a long time now, I think the best would be to get this thread closed.

rooting a friends phone:
Try Open Garden or WiFi Tethering (root) apps from market.
You've conflated a couple questions here.
"Which ROMs have a built-in feature for WiFi tethering?"
Most, if not all, do.
"Given that T-Mobile generally prohibits tethering, is there a way that I can tether in a way that I am not blocked by T-Mobile?"
Yes, there are several ways that you can make the traffic appear as though it originated on your phone. Most, if not all, of these are applications, use of things like VPN or ssh tunneling, or configuration of your tethered clients. There are several approaches. Search is your friend on finding one that works for you and that you are comfortable with.

Yes that works or just go to settings>wireless and networks>tethering. No need for an app if its built in but if you want one there's plenty to choose from
Wifi tethering used to work no problem on my phone but T-Mobile very recently seems to have changed something where they can detect it - on ICS ROM's - and block it in the browser on your computer. It takes a few link clicks to get the blocked page.
For this - I have to switch to a google related user agent to not have wifi tethering blocked.

that's funny, i'm using aokp (latest team acid build), and i was just using wifi tethering with no problems at all. not to mention that i'm not even supposed to have it since i have the new plan "truly unlimited 4g." the problem i do have though is usb tethering. i gave my team members a log to see if its fixable the other day, but haven't heard anything yet. its no big deal to me unless i wanna use it to tether my pc when our dsl daily cap is reached (which is everyday, but "i" don't use the pc everyday). basically just gave em the log to try and help those who do want/need it.

It was new for me. And only through the browser. Still connects no problem but after several clicks it will pop up a T-Mobile page saying I don't have the tethering package. I am on Raver's ICS Audiophile.
I was tethering just fine on vacation last week, until I got a text message from T-mobile saying they were blocking it, and sure enough it quit working.
I gotta look into the user agent spoofing I guess... at least before my next trip.
(All three of the hotels I was in were changing $5-10 for internet!)
T-Mobile is on a roll!
Didn't actually think they were gonna give something for nothing did ya.
They know that with strategic planning...(lower the plan price and give you more data)....if they give a little....you'll want more,so now they can ask for more, and sleep soundly when they go to bed at night.
So mine got blocked too, took me a couple of hours last night but found a way around it using Bluetooth Open Garden and VPN combination. Back to free tethering....victory over TMobile!....for now at least.

So using just the VPN client still blocked you??
Yeah, but it's possible that was just because I was trying multiple solutions. I'll look at it again tonight and see if I can substitute the Bluetooth with WiFi and keep it working. I think it might be in my proxy settings....it was late and I was happy to just get access.

Or you can change the user agent for your browser and just use wifi tethering as you normally would. It is a pretty simple fix.

I thought with Google Chrome you have to have the Developers Tools open for that to persist. Is there a simple way to make it stick without having to have the developer tools window open? Thanks.
Edit: Ok, so tried the APN switch on Google chrome last night and it did work, while the developers tools window is open. Only issue was that some of the sites that my wife uses that have display issues on mobile web now have the same issue on the PC...I'm not talking about page layout, but specific links and options not displaying....the reason she still needs to use the PC in the first place. I can definitely recommend the APN fix to people being blocked by Tmobile as a quick simple fix as previously stated in this thread. It took a little longer to set up, but I'm sticking with the VPN for full functionality.
Regarding the wifi use with VPN; I haven't been able to get it to work yet, so sticking with the Bluetooth for now.
