So, I got my wife an upgrade phone (Sprint, LG Optimus S). Before it even arrives she says, "what? It doesn't have a flash for the camera? I don't want it, I want a flash for my camera!" So, I searched around and found that I can get a new Samsung Instinct HD for less than new LG Optimus S sells for on eBay. So, can I sell the LG to someone, and them be able to activate it successfully? I asked about the Instinct HD already - as long as the ESN is clean it will be no problem. I just didn't want to ask about the new upgrade phone I just got because it seems a little shady.

Hi Everyone
I am giving up my $190 iphone bill (2 lines of service) for a cricket android phone.
need an android phone.
My choices are of course:
Sanyo Zio
Hauwai Ascend
LG Optimus C
Can the optimus be rooted? I mean, its a new phone but take on OLD model...
I just want a nice screen and decent speed for the phone.
Rooting the phone is fine, I can do that.
The best screen appears to be the Zio, but the best HARDWARE is the LG.
Which one will be the best after the 2.2-1 android update? The zio and Optimus alreadyu have that update, and you can root the Ascend to get it if you want.
Can you root the optimus be rooted?
I am sure the zio can.
DOH!
I just saw that the zio has no multitouch interface.
i have a samsung fascinate on cricket. you can also get a droid x or any other verizon or sprint android to work on cricket. and they all are better than the cricket choices. look on craigslist, or get a bad ESN one from Ebay, then flash it to cricket, the process is not that hard. and its on this forum
i have an epic on cricket... in the past i heard thehy shut down data for a week for flashed phones.. and anyway now my epic won't get incoming calls (routed to voicemail) and it says restricted on other peoples incoming screens when i call... seems like a roaming issue.. i'm about to probably just go buy an optimus c
I love my Incredible on Cricket Everything works 2 including MMS. UR best bet is 2 get a phone that isn't Cricket & make it Cricket. Lets face it... Cricket's phones suck
So, I recently acquired a Motorola Droid 2 Global... I rooted it, installed a nice version of ICS on it, and the phone is quite decent for what it is... instead of selling/trading it, I am looking to possibly use it for my OOPS phone... I do a lot of kayaking, some whitewater, and need a phone on the boat but need one which I care not if it dumps in the river... Problem is... I have a rooted beauty of a Samsung Galaxy that is my every day phone thru T-Mobile (and LOVE IT!)... This Moto is thru Verizon... can I make it compatible w/ T-Mobile so I can sim card swap and call it a day??
I'm really fed up with the sprint G4 being basically useless. It had so much potential to be an amazing phone for developers but then LG decided on the bonehead move of only allowing bootloader unlock on the 815 model, which is very much NOT the sprint variant.
So now I've got a LS991 LG G4 that, as a phone, I love... But as an android device, the pinnacle of customization and freedom... I'm disappointed.
I'm thinking about knocking it down to stock and accepting the MM ota and then trading it off for something I can run custom ROMs on. Any sprint users with a current flagship got any recommendations? I'm probably going to post it on a Facebook group or Craigslist local to me and put up this LG G4, and a brand new in box 2014 Moto X, unopened, in trade for one phone... But I just have to know which one I should be looking for? Note 5? S6 Edge Plus? I'm stuck with sprint for a while and I just can't deal with the lack of control I have with this phone. Can't flash a new ROM or kernel to fix battery life, instead I have to buy a huge bulky battery, etc. So I need something I can be a flashaholic with.
So I had & loved my G3.. should have went right to the G4 but I decided to give the Note 5 a try..
I'm curious about the status of current root methods for the G4..
Note 5 for AT&T doesn't seem like it's going to get rooted
So I'm concerned as seems to be the trend if I didn't have the device & root on one single old firmware a method worked on 6 months ago I won't be getting it for the G4 either.
Is that the case or are there still currently functional root methods for this device on most firmware versions ?
/salute
Still rootable as long as it's pre-Marshmellow. As of now Marshmellow is only rootable with an unlocked bootloader which is only possible with the international and T-Mobile versions.
knowing att, they probably wont update the device to marshmellow till about a month before the g5 releases. also, don't purchase one thru att if possible, you can pick up international gsm varients of the g4 for like 400-450 on amazon and ebay which should have unlocked bootloaders. you could probably also sell your note 5 on ebay for like 500-550 and purchase the international version which i imagine is rootable for around the same price as you sell the original for if you wanted to stay with sammy.
also to answer the orignial question, rooting the att g4 is pretty easy, there is no one touch tool that i know of, but as long as you can download some files and copy and paste some lines of code its pretty easy. also there is now an easy to revert back to stock att which there wasn't for a while if you need to make an rma or need to take an official ota after marshmellow or whatever the next update will be.
on a side note, if you do buy the att lg g4, make sure you take the latest update (o i believe), the phone is basically **** without it. mine was super laggy, overheating, and unresponsive to touch before it.
righteous.. well decision made
thanks yuh folks

Hello all,
Picked up a backup phone for cheap. LG Xpression Plus (same as phoenix plus, harmony 2, K30) 5.3" screen etc..
It is a at&t phone but in order to get the newest security/firmware updates you need a at&t active sim (which I dont use)
I have looked everywhere online and att forums, lg web site but nothing to be found.
If any ideas, please post... THX, C :fingers-crossed:
