control android phone remotely? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

So I use Logmein Ignition in order to remote access my computer from my phone, but I was wondering if there was a way to remote control my android phone from my computer. I know Logmein Rescue provides that service but im not going to pay 1000+ for that.

If you're rooted, there's a VNC server app for android

You can use the VNC server for remote control via a pc or another android phone.

I will give this a shot again - tried a while back but ahd no luck.

App to remote into desktop PC if IP isn't static? Stream music, vids, etc?

So, I am going to set up a desktop at home to use as a media server of sorts. Basically, I just want to be able to stream music and movies and whatnot to my TF from the PC at home while I'm at work. What is a good app to do this sharing? There user to be one that indexed the files on the PC, then it had an app for Android and iPhone that allower you to stream that content remotely. Something like that (can't remember the name) is what I'm looking for. Speceifically, a free solution to do this...
Now for the second part of the question. I'll need to be able to remote into this PC from work as well. I'd like to avoid using dydns or anything like that, and avoid port forwarding on the router since it's a PITA, however I will not have a static IP on this PC, so the IP WILL change. What I'm looking for is something like LogMeIn.com that has a little app that runs on the PC and allows connection to itself even when the IP changes. However, as above, I need a free solution. The LogMeIn app is just too expensive.
Any ideas?
And... Thanks
Not sure about the streaming, (in fact I think it fails), but PocketCloud is great to remotely control your Mac or PC from your tablet (I love it); and it's free.
DynDNS or a service (not free) like LogMeIn are your only options for a rotating IP.

Pocketcloud Pro has a way of finding dynamic IP addresses using your gmail account. It's not a free app, but it was on sale pretty recently, might still be.

Remote control: Android VNC server

Android Market Link: http:/ / goo.gl/fiOeA
Note: Your device need to be rooted before using this app.
This is a vnc server app created by me running on an Android device.
You can make a connection to the vnc server via PC/NB over WiFi network or USB cable connection. Also with the capability to let you remotely control your android device within your vnc client running on your PC/NB. Besides, you could turn off the feature of remote control to just demo something.

Remote Desktop or Control between 2 Android devices?

I simply want to control my T-800 tablet from my 6P phone. Mostly I just want to control songs and volume. I can’t find anything that works.
There is a TeamViewer Host that runs on the Tablet but none of their own TeamViewer clients can not connect and I have not been able to get them to help me.
There also seems to be a VNC Host for Android but it needs a rooted device just to try it out.
Such a simple thing on the desktop, is there nothing that just works for Android devices?
Bump.

Controlling T-Mobile TVision HUB v2 from Linux laptop

I just purchased the above device planning to use it to replace my Raspberry Pi Zero W in my media system. I have been controlling the pi via SSH from my laptop and have an sftp share to it for file transfers from my laptop. I mostly made use of vlc on the pi this way, which worked quite well.
Obviously I will usually be using the remote with the device when I want to select and view video content. But when I am working with music and internet radio it is more convenient to do so from my laptop where I have an actual keyboard.
Obviously the TVision environment differs from the Raspbian running on the pi, so I doubt that I can take the same approach with it. I am working now to take advantage of the fact that it is a Chromecast device, which allows me to manage internet radio from my laptop via stream2chromecast. What I still need is a way to load media onto the device from my laptop, preferably via a share of some sort, and to be able to initiate or change playback there from the laptop.
I have installed vlc on the device, but from what I can tell there is no support in this version for using one of its remote control interfaces included. Of course this is the android version of vlc, so even if I can install and use an SSH connection to the device I don't know how to interact with it from the terminal window.
Has anyone worked with this device and found a way to do what I want to with it? Has anyone taken a similar approach with another Google TV device that should work here?
Dave
