[Q] Help Please! Need to remap power button (dropped phone) - General Questions and Answers

Arg! I dropped my xv6800 in the car (no I was not texting). It hit some hard plastic on the floor, and now when it goes to sleep, nothing I do will wake it back up...
What program in the windows folder do I need to map to to replace my power button? Is there another way to change it (other than advanced configuration manager?)? Arg!

Backlight & Stand by mode

I have an Att Fuze and my question is: Is there a way to "wakeup" the phone from stand-by (completely balck screen), by just pushing any button on the phone? Right now I have to push the top power button to wake it up.
Are there any setting to adjust it? I have an MDA and on the power setting there is the option to select it but I cannot find it on the Fuze
maybe you are looking for something like this?

I wouldn't suggest to do that - the power button at the top is strategically placed to act also like a keylock for other buttons that are more "naked" while phone is in pocket or something
You can also pull out the stylus to wake it up.
Thnx for the link....

Stuck Power Button

I have an HTC FUZE and I dropped it in a puddle of water and now the power button is constantly activated even though I am not touching the button. The button still clicks fine but again, the power button is always active. I cannot manually put my phone to sleep, nor can I turn it off using the power button.
My question is, could I remap the power button (long and short) to another button say the PPT button?
thanks
help anyone?
I had a similar problem with my first Fuze and had to get a refurbished replacement from AT&T. In my case the sticking power button caused constant rebooting of the phone. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I was unable to do anything to unstick the button.
if the power button is just nt working, you can still put your phone to sleep with third paty softwares like psShutXp. But I don't think it is possible to remap it to a different hardware key afaik.

[Q] turning on the display on Inspire 4g

One of the down sides of having such a large screen is the amount of travel your finger has to do to get to the power switch to turn the display on.
is there a hack or an app that can allow me to customize the capacitative buttons (home, menu, back, search) to turn on the phone? (not from a power off state, but from a suspend state)?
Other potential solutions could be remapping either of the volume keys, or maybe using the accelerometer to determine the orientation of the phone and then wake up the screen.
Yes, I am looking for the same thing. The power button on Inspire is not that well designed. I can't really tell if i am pressing it or now. I am afraid the button will broke since it doesn't have the press down feeling. I think everyone has the same problem on this button.
I think only midgets and girls have this problem. Are you a midget or a girl?
lol jk
try widgetlocker
you can wake up phone with volumes button !

[Q] Power button dead after dropping in the pooper

Like the title says, i somehow managed to drop my phone in the toilet but i pull it out immediately and unlocked the screen and with relief, IT TURNED ON. But later as i took out the battery to dry off my phone and such, i put the battery in the phone and it automatically turns on and the power button wont put the screen to sleep/lock it :|| Any suggestions or ways to fix it? IM currently leaving my phone and battery in a bowl of rice for safety measures haha.
remap camera button, go system/usr/keylayout/generic.kl then look for camera button (key 212 if i remember ok) then change it to POWER folow the avobe scheme and put WAKE see if that works
edit :it is key 212 and the format you need to folow is :
key 212 POWER WAKE
sent from the gray stuff inside my skull
so my power button is totally gone? haha darn not even a year yet, so close.
I went in to my system folder and couldnt find the 212, and i found a app that locks the screen and turns it off but now i cant turn back ont he screen! haha

Click to collapse

How to turn on phone without powerbutton?

The only way I can turn on my Nexus 5 now is using adb and a computer. Is there a way to possibly turn on my phone on the road? Without the use of a computer?
You can remap with the Volume button.
Just double tap screen to wake
I didn't think the N5 had double-tap. My N6 needs an app, and be rooted, to do it.
Turning on the phone from sleep may be possible (double tap, magnetic screen case, remap button) but if it's been completely switched off...? How do you switch it on without a power button? The power button remap sounds feasible (how do you do that, by the way?) but then how do you change the volume?
