New Froyo leak for Vibrant T959UVJK6 - Captivate General

For all those interested in cooking new roms. Looks like their is a new Vibrant leak. http://www.samfirmware.com/apps/blog/show/5483734-froyo-for-t959-vibrant-

Wish a new Captivate leak would come. Its been a while since JI4...

ok so I got this rom dodexed it. zip aligned it. have 1.4.2 1280 kernel rolling on it. it boots up fast and so far what I have tested works except I don't get signal from ATT.
Any of you other Devs know or point me in the right direction as to what I have to do to get that working?

Phone.apk
Phone_Util.apk
apns_conf.xml

Thank you.. I had it all but that XML

yeah i wish we had a new leak

forget a leak

Forget a leak, I wish we have offical Froyo from AT&T, plus some source!

Official froyo source would certainly make life easier on the chefs...

Trying to get this going on the cappy but updating the phone.apk and utils.apk along with updating the apn info I am still not able to get a signal from AT&T. Not sure why its not working.
Wifi calling works however and this does seem to be pretty responsive other than no Service. Been busy with work but plan on working on this tonight.

Anyone anticipating new roms like COG or AXURA being built based on this?

Can't wait for the source to drop.
The source is the most important thing
Maybe some good roms will come out though.

if samsung follows course with what they did for the epic we should see the source drop today or tomorrow hopefully. (source for the epic was release 2-3 days before the official push started)
I shall remain skeptical until tomorrow comes and I have froyo, we've seen this song and dance before.
This didn't just come from Samsung's Galaxy S support feed. This was posted on AT&T's Facebook page. Other sites are starting to report on it. Rumor has that it might be the leaked KB1 update that came out earlier today.

P.S. - I guess I should look forward to reloading my apps and re-rooting my phone.
FINALLY. We should start a pool now and try and pick the time when they announce it was pulled because it is bricking phones.

It's going to be KB1, since the fingerprint is already registered in the market. It's not going to brick any phones by itself without help from Kies Mini.

Good? We already have GREAT roms out thanks to our chefs. That being said I do look forward to what they can do with source.
Woohoo! Better keep my battery full charged and ready for the fun tomorrow. I guess this will be an OTA update?

Well we still need the kernel source to post on the samsung site. Hopefully that will post sometime tomorrow but we can't make any native roms until that happens.
Figures, the day I finally decide to root, AT&T decides to release FROYO the next day. lol with that said, if I do root today, will I have to re-root tomorrow when I upgrade?
I thought I'd get it early by flashing cognition 4, as I've used cognition 3.04 and firefly and have been impressed by the wonderful features.
If you're wondering-- Don't bother doing this yourself. I've flashed cog4, and have found it lacking almost all the features that made cog3.04 cool, like having choices for unlock screens, tethering and wap come with warnings that these are pay services for AT&T, and touchwiz is the default launcher.
I'm going back to cog3.04, a far superior rom, later this afternoon.
Nice, 7 months late...
As for Cog 4 or KB1 roms, I'm going to wait until they are on par with current roms in terms of features.
Same thing I plan to do. I'm gonna put this stock Froyo on tomorrow, and once the devs have time to play with the official source and get things good and stable with some tweaks that I find useful, I will flash a custom ROM later on.
I can't imagine this could be better than what I've been experiencing since flashing Andromeda 1.2. Thanks, but no thanks.

+1 Same boat.
I saw this on my facebook and was like, "Squee!" But I'm already using 2.2.1 on the andromeda final rom, and it's so awesome. Somehow I doubt anything AT&T is willing to dish out is going to make a better rom than that. :X
Yeah, I really wish Att &/or Sammy gave us 2.2.1, I almost think its a downgrade from what we already have. Phx 4.5 is great source can really make us have a ton of awesome!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
With the 2.2 source for the cap and 2.2.1 source for the i9000, can devs merge them and make a Cap 2.2.1 rom from KB1? I dont understand it all well enough to even guess how far fetched that is.
to upgrade or wait for awhile
if we upgrade we will still be able to run roms like ff and phoenix?

Help picking a ROM

I just left my Captivate and in the Infuse and now I am trying to figure out what ROM I would like to try out. After a week of having this phone just not liking being back to stock.
On my Captivate I only ran two roms. I ran DG and CyanogenMod 7. I am not seeing offical roms by these two for the Infuse. I am only seeing unoffical CM7 Roms. I am not sure about using a unofficial one.
I am looking a good rom that has the support like CM7 has. That is also easy to install and easy to update.
Thanks for any help on this
The CM7 port for the Infuse is a good one. Bluetooth is only half working but still - it runs really well. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.

Yeah but it isn't easy to install in its current state.
The OP can probably use Hellraiser to bring over his favorite Cappy ROM, if he's willing to live with the known issues with Hellraiser.

Leaked GB Rom

Ive read different places that the official, or close to official GB rom has been leaked. I searched and didnt find it on here.
Is there actually a leaked version? And I am talking about a USA version that has hdmi support and is stable?
If there is and I am just missing it on here, could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
is this is true ... WOOooOOT

this is a leak, that can have HDMI working if you flash back the to the leaked Kernel with SGS kernel flasher or odin it back on there.
i have never used this, but i read about and just decided it was not worth it.....but i THINK this is close to what your looking for.

Thanks for the quick response...Im with you, id rather just wait.
I am running the froyo infused rom right now with the gingerbread launcher. I love it.
Overall, what benefits will GB bring over Froyo? I mean froyo has copy / paste, and brought us flash support, and I am running the GB launcher, so what will be the benefits?
Its a little snappier, you can use video chat on Skype, gchat. Sound latency is supposed to be improved, though I haven't noticed. Not sure what. Infused on froyo is great. I was really happy on it.
I've been running the newest gingerbread leak for a week and everything is great, including battery. I still have to delete some at&t bloatware though.

For the others that are anxiously waiting, just try to keep busy with the phone and let time pass. Checking everyday is not going to help. lol. Im sure once its out, sooner or later, were going to hear more flash addicts about when new/updated roms coming out. smh

The 15fps is easily fixed, but the hdmi requires a new kernel not to mention the adapter that didn't come with the phone.

needs a new ROM too, hdmi needs support in the launcher and probably the framework as well. The video app is also special so it can output hi Res video and turn pdf the phone screen no simply mirror a low Res output to the TV.

#1 This isn't based off the SkyRocket ICS leak, it's AOSP. He used some .ril & .lib from the leak to get it running. Huge difference.
#2 Most things are not working, this isn't even a proper release yet, it's an RC.
Data, Audio, Rotation, and many other still need to be worked out.
#3 While it's not customary to shoot the messenger, spreading false info will only lead to flames and more. Just an FYI.
#4 Thanks for the news reporter attempt

I would imagine since it says they're using the Skyrocket ICS kernel, rotation would work for us? Isn't that the deal with AT&T/T-Mo sharing ROMs?

I didn't mean it was ROM BASED
1. I meant the stuff he got is from the SR leak, because the title can be misleading thinking its a t-mobile released. but thanks for making it clearer.
2. RAVER said the data/voice worked fine when he used his parent's ATT sim or something like that.
3. my edit2 suggest that a couple things broke when he fixed other things such as the audio problem. it worked before.
This isn't really false info except that the LEAK BASE might be misleading, but it was easier to say that than AOSP ICS BASED OFF SR LEAK LIB and RIL FILES LOL
BTW shouldn't the ROTATION be fine for ROGERS and ATT and i'm assuming data should work for rogers too.
4. thanks man, just trying to help the source since it was their release that helped us.

I'm on AOKP ICS but I'm considering going back to a GB ROM because of the better battery, a reliable HD camera, no sleep of death, etc. Anyone else on the same boat? I can't make a decision! :\

I went back and haven't looked back! ICS was too much of a hassle with all those problems you listed. If you haven't seen it yet, LG released a GB 2.3.4 update as of a few days ago I believe. I just updated to that today and it has been nothing but fast and reliable so far (knock on wood haha).

If you do decide to upgrade as of now (from reading the dev thread about this new update) it looks like if you flash a custom rom after installing the new march baseband you won't be able to make phone calls. Only works with the stock LG 2.3.4. Just a warning if you were thinking of flashing a rom with the new baseband. I'm sure they will come up with a solution soon though, they always do!
I've upgraded once to ICS, and I went back immediately. Although there were times when I flashed different ICS roms from different devs, but they all seem to have the same issues, so I just stayed on GB, I'm happy with Hellfire Phoenix, really stable with Faux CM kernel at stock voltage.
I did as well, the UI wasn't worth all the technical difficulties. Went from HFS to HFP.

Can't the baseband be restored to an older one withe the GetRIL app on the Play Store?
Btw, does the release of 2.3.4 signify that we won't be getting ICS officially? I might as well abandon ICS now if we're never going to get updated drivers from Nvidia...
Sent from my AOKP G2x
no and no to put it simple.
The GetRIL app does just that get's RIL's no a baseband.
We never knew or will we know cause LG can't make up their mind it seems. Some forums have public LG moderators/employees that state that they haven't heard a thing about LG giving the G2X ICS love. On the other hand I have read places and posted here that LG's Facebook stated that they will update our phone and the European version to ICS sometime in the 2nd quarter. So it's pretty much don't hold your breath and be patient.
The fact that LG hasn't given up on updating the G2x means a lot...even though it's been EOLed, though. But, speculation is speculation.
i went back to GB, due to the camera issue. the ISC roms are great but unless LG\Nvidia releases their drivers these roms will never be perfect. another reason i went back to GB is because i like MIUI (the whole interface and the ability to record calls). cant wait for MIUI v4.

GB till we get drivers. I'm satisfied with it for now.

Coming off of about a month using ics roms, its nice to get back to gb because EVERYTHING WORKS! Also, pretty sure the o2x will get ics towards the middle of this year. We just have to wait for the drivers to be ported. Until then, some of us can make due without hwa, but its hard to stay away from gb for too long.
Back on MIUI for now. I themed it to look like ICS so I'm satisfied for now. Much better battery life too! But I miss the ICS multitasking still.
I really like the UI on ICS and it works well enough for me that I've just stayed on it. Went to GB for a day and decided against it. The known issues with ICS have not really been an issue for me at all.
I used and was very happy running CM7, even installed it on my girl's phone which will likely stay that way.
A few weeks ago I went to Eagleblood's most recent AOSP build and don't see myself going back to any form of GB. Yes the ICS ROMs do have their issues but so far nothing game breaking for me.
pretty new here and I never even tried an ICS ROM yet. But even as an Android semi-noob it makes sense that an ICS ROM will not be as polished as a well done GB ROM. Hoping to try one soon but the general sentiment of this thread makes me think it will be a while before I do.

They're very usable and stable enough for daily use. If the known issues don't bother you, then you'll enjoy ICS. The first ROM I flashed to my phone was an ICS ROM and I've remained on ICS since. I tried going back to GB, but ended up flashing ICS again the next day. Give it a try. If you don't like it, you can always re flash a GB ROM.
