[Q] App / Widget that draws "dividers" or "lines" on the homescreen
Hey XDA
Does anyone know of a widget that could draw simple lines on the homescreen
to "divide" the screen into multiple "zones".
After using the Simi Clock widget (appbrain-> bit.ly/aCqElU ) together with
launcherPro that enables you to resize the widget and drag the "divider" from simi clock to split another zone on the homescreen, i was curious
if there was some widget / app that could do that.
Like this: ( to new so can't paste links ) - b.imagehost.org/view/0170/HTC_Desire_HD_1 -
this is not my image, taken from the launcherPro Forum
I have searched for a simple widget like that but ended up with nothing, so im turning to the al mighty XDA to maybe catch a break
thank you
/BL
Don't know about a widget or app, but you can always draw the lines on the wallpaper!
Check out mClock, the XML template feature can do this.

OK, where to start. I've been searching forums and the internet in general trying to find a way to mix and match Fancy widget & Beautiful Widgets to get the desired effect I'm looking for.
I've been trying endlessly to find a way to get Fancy widget to open up Beautiful Widgets Forecast when I touch the weather icon and there seems to be no easy way to do this (if it can be done at all).
Now, I must say I have tried Fancy Widget, Beautiful Widgets and Weather & Toggle Widget and so far I love the look of Fancy Widget, love the look of Beautiful Widgets Forecast and didn't like Weather & Toggle Widget at all.
I have noticed that the Forecast app/add-on does appear in my Recent apps when I long press Home; so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me figure out a way to get Fancy Widget to see it as an app when choosing an app to open when touching the weather icon.
Also, Beautiful Widgets by default brings up the Alarms section of the Clock app but I can only get Fancy Widget to bring up the Clock app instead of directly bringing up the Alarms section. If anyone knows a way to achieve this also, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I am not sure if this is possible with a lockscreen widget or another addon.. but is this possible with the android and if so, does it exist? Its for an iphone...
TIA
You can mimic/enhance that look with widget locker.

You can get WidgetLocker and put whatever widgets you want on your lockscreen. There is an app called executive assistant that puts all of this info on your lockscreen as well.
I use widget locker, its a great app. I will have to look for the other widgets to get all these features.
thanks
haha, looking for the right widgets is becoming numb..
cant find a weather widget or an agenda one... any advice?
For agenda widget I found:
Android Agenda Widget
http://www.appbrain.com/app/android-agenda-widget/com.roflharrison.agenda
Just needed to update the settings to change the look of it..

Using Launch-X Pro to add extra icons I use.. Still looking for weather and clock.
For Clock, I just found Digital Clock Widget
http://www.appbrain.com/app/digital-clock-widget/com.maize.digitalClock
I am totally stuck on the weather widget. I cant find a 4x1 widget to show a simple weather like the OP... any help here please?
Found it.. for weather, I am using weather forecast widget
http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.koxx.forecast_weather.v2
its not the ideal solution but it will work.. I will upload my finished screen tonight
thanks
Sorry for the delay in putting the picture up..
Here is my lockscreen after all the above
Very nice. I prefer the 2x2 weather and agenda widgets so I can see more agenda items.. Personal preference, just sharing.
Also - have you had any issues with accidentally opening the shortcuts? I've been using a slider to enable/disable interactions to prevent that

nope, I do carry my phone in my pocket too. I know there is an app called "Call sure" I think... not 100% on the name but basically gives you another prompt to make sure you want to dial someone and should stop pocket dialing
Are you using multi icon widget for the apps? And what does the lock icon do?

For those icons on the bottom, I use Launch-X Pro
the lock button just locks the phone instead of hitting the power button.
In this thread, let's all show each other our homescreens, so we can all have a more pimpin' phone
Include a bit of information if you have a non-standard set-up, so as to minimize the amount of replys saying "WHAT IS THAT THEME YOU'RE RUNNING" etc. Thanks

Kinda boring, I might switch to adw and have to get some of these fancy custom lock screens...
Edit: now with awesome puzzle lock, thanks to the tater!
I guess that method's resolution isn't as good with some of the apps. Anyone know how to adjust it? or is it just because I uploaded those images on a mobile device?

ok here goes. All infor about what I'm running can be found in sig.
I'm somewhat of a minimalist, so my homescreen(center screen) is blank except for time and battery.
running launcher pro so most my icons are on the docs.

Beautiful widgets and launcher pro. I'm always changing the wallpaper and clock. Those microsoft-like tiles are pretty cool, how did you do that blue2107?

From what I've gotten to work perfectly you hold down the "Back" soft key, then push the power button. Holding the back button shouldn't actually go back, at least until you release pressure.
Hi,
I'm running CM7 and I've got widgetlocker as my lockscreen, and I'd like to add the torch widget to the lockscreen. It doesn't really fit in though so I'd like to make it invisible; i.e you can't see the widget but if you press in the right place (where it is) it will still function as normal.
Can this be done?
Thanks

Invisible Widget

I recently discovered how to make an invisible widget that has been incredibly useful in customizing my screens. For instance, my weather app is Snowstorm because I like how the widget looks. But, I like Weatherbug for functionality, weather radar, etc. So, I've got the snowstorm widget on my screen with an invisible widget overlayed and set to front so when i click on it, it sends me to Weatherbug.
This is done my creating an icon using Simple Text. The text in the icon is just a couple of spacebar taps. It saves to your gallery. Then I used Desktop VisualizeR to create a widget that is assigned to the Weatherbug app. Assign the invisible icon you created to the widget and you are ready to go. Very useful to have a visual of one app and the functionality of another. You can even create it so you just tap on a blank portion of your screen to activate whatever app or function you want. It's fun!
Good luck. :good:
Maybe use gimp and just make it transparent

Previously I've used the ADW launcher but have found every phone I've had become unmanageably slow over time. I've never been able to identify the problem but this time I'm trying to leave as many things stock as I can bear, starting with the launcher.
The default launches seems palatable enough but I can't workout how to resize widgets to fill the width of the screen.
Two of my favorite widgets to have on the home screen are "Fancy Widgets" (a clock/weather widget) and "Agenda Widget" (a calendar widget). Both these programs have several different sized widgets available but neither have widgets that are 5 cells wide. Is there a way to stretch the widget in the default launcher like one can in ADW?
Attached is an example of what my home screen currently looks like.
Thanks,
Slarti.
P.S.
I hope I'm asking this in the correct place.
(I wasn't able to find a Q&A section for G3 themes)
Uh, I've found that after releasing the agenda widget when dragging resize grippers become available on the corners.
This works perfectly to resize Agenda Widget to a 5x2 box.
Unfortunatly this doesn't work for Fancy Widgets.
It should be added as default feature

I think it only works for default apps in the phone.
Hmmmm
