I was planning on purchasing this Speck universal holster for my G2. I already have the OEM gel skin and this seems to fit it perfectly. Good alternative to otterbox or seidco cases that are mysteriously absent for our beloved phone model. I was wondering if anyone had one or used one in the past and also to inform others about what might make an excellent combo for the popular OEM texturized gel skin. linkage... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6824578&sk
Okay, it just came it and it's very nice. The build is nice quality and solid for a plastic holster. The cool thing is how it works. It has a spring (No... not like the one in our Z-hinge) that auto-fits any sized smartphone with or without gel or hard case! And when you use it without a case... its not loose or jiggley at all. Very solid each corner has rubberized grip on the inside so that it holds any size phone. I knew it was a bit pricey ($25-29.99 depends on where you get it) but it's worth it to me. And I can use it with any smartphone... so if I felt like going TP2 today... just pop in my sim and the same clip. And any future phone too. Here are some pics...

I bit the bullet and ordered one. I'll give a full review with pictures when it arrives. It's nice that Tiger Direct ships UPS though. I really hate the post office... yuk!
The cool thing about this holster is that you can use it one ANY phone so I switch up with one of my many current or future phones. Will be a nice combo with the T-Mobile Gel Skin, I think.

Yeah I just saw that in another thread. it looks nice! I'm gonna stick with this one since I can put in the holster while the gel skin is still on. I dont think the regular seidio holsters will do that. I know they have some that hold the phone with a case on but not the current ones. they have to go naked to fit. I'll post some pics later this week when it arrives. it should be here wednesday or thursday... but thanks for the heads up!

Yes. it swivels in both vertical and horizontal positions....
I just ordered one of these myself to go with another item folks on here found, seems like a near perfect replacement to Seidio if both items are used together.
This is the hard shell for the phone itself:

How do you get your phone in and out of the holster one handed like the box says? getting it on isn't so bad, I keep ripping it off my belt when trying to do anything with it.

If you are using a wider belt like I am, it is kinda difficult at first. I fixed it by pushing upwards on the clip so that it closes all the way. Do that firmly once, and it should fit nicely. If you belt is wider than the clip... well that's the issue. Just examine the clip while its on the belt. If it isn't closed tightly... push the clip upward into the belt and it will loosen and fit properly.

I pulled out the clip spring and detached the clip so I could remove the screw on the pivot. This let me flip the clip over so that I pushed down rather than pulled up to remove the phone and the problem was solved. as the clip is now forced against my belt.
As a warning though, I had to snip off the two retainer bumps from the case to get it to pivot correctly again. As a side effect, it can now pivot in 360 degrees (it doesn't spin freely)
In the end, this will do, but I'm really hoping that Seidio pulls through as this system is not the quality I would like for my needs. I prefer the snug fit and felt padding in the seidio as it keeps the screen clean and protected rather than the spring powered gap and distance away from the holster the screen is now.

yeah, I got mine working with just a little force by pushing upwards on the clip without modding (which is nice). It's a nice clip but I guess your belt was a bit wider than mine. But so far this seems like the best thats available. it would be nice if otterbox or seido made a clip that fit on their protective cases but it seems like it won't happpen... oh well, we got stuck with the rather lame otterbox commuter series. Welll, I am happy with this setup though. no complains here since I didn't have to snip off the retainer clips.

I'll have my Nexus tomorrow. Just wondering, is the teflon coating on this thing pretty solid, or is it a good idea to get a protective case for it? I'm VERY careful with my phones. I never used a case with my MyTouch3G or my G1, and they stayed in great shape with only a few very minor scratches here and there. But if anything happened to my Nexus, I'm sure I'd be pretty pissed at myself. So... input? Thanks?

I didn't use a case for about a month, only used the sleeve. Dropped it on my mat on my rug for my computer chair several times. No marks at all. I bought a Ghost Armor body kit just in-case.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpGAW6L5x8U
the coating seems pretty tough to me,
personally i use the sleeve it came with during pocket transportation
and from what i heard the screen can be easily scratched by aluminum, so i would avoid any situation that would cause that to rub your screen
I use the crystal gel case, its very thin an unobtrusive. I'd say go with a case and even a screen shield; better safe than sorry. Besides, when Windows Phone 7 or something else from Google comes out, you want to keep that resale value up!
Trust me... you'll be just fine with the included neoprene sleeve. What's the point of having such a svelte phone if you encumber it with a case?

If you drop it on concrete then it will scratch the case. You don't have to have a gigantic case. Just something to cover the actual phone.
I have a BSE and it's amazing.
It is made of a silicone type material that gives it a little rubbery feel [not a lot at all, just a little bit].
It makes it less vulnerable to scratches and damage to the actual phone.
It gives the phone a small bit of grip so it's not so easily dropped.
It gives it a glossy look.
It covers every inch of the phone including the screen.
It's crystal clear and doesn't get as many smudges as the normal screen.
Here's a great review on it
The only problems I had was at first it looks a little hazy but the skin just has to sit for a little while then it will look great.
And applying the skin is very tedious and takes about 30 minutes to do it right. If you do it wrong it will have bubbles and wont sit right.
Here's some pics of mine

I say get a skin as I find the phone to be too slippery without one. I have gotten used to it but I don't trust other people to use it without a skin.
@dumbestcrayon
nice skin, makes the phone look oh so sexxyy..
p.s. Glassjaw is AMAZINGG
I dropped my n1 on concrete and the scratch was enough to make me consider selling it! [I know, issues...] So now I use the stock case but get sick of taking it out all the time, its fine in the pocket without protection

Oh yeah I love it. One of the only physical flaws, IMO, was that the body isn't glossy. Now its better.
Glassjaw is pretty good. Haven't heard them in a long while. They came up on last.fm.
I would say no, but that is a pretty tasteful case posted in the forum. If you are on the fence, I say go for it. the phone is very durable, but it was a bit slick in the hands at first.
I'm all for the bse. Wish I put one on my g1
I use the Seidio belt clip case mostly for transport protection. But it's easy to remove the Nexus for use anytime as is!

I have a belt clip also. I just like the BSE because it has no flaws. It makes the phone glossy, a little grip, protects it from any scratches because it covers 99.9% of the phone [where the .1% is the tiny lines between where the pieces of the skin comes together XD]
And, it was $8. So it's 100% win for me.

Yeah, I had it for my MyTouch. When I ordered my N1 I expected to have to throw it out. It's a good quality clip that I got from some website. I forgot where. My cousin got his N1 before me so I tried his and it fit perfect. I was pretty happy about it. IT was a little bit tight at first but it stretched out a bit. It has an open spot right where the headphone jack is too. But as of today I got my Rockfish BT headset so I wont need that anymore
This headset is amazing...A2DP is great.
dumbestcrayon, have you had any experience with the Invisible Shield?
I currently have the Invisible Shield on my phone without any complaints, just wondering if you had a comparison.
Price-wise, mine was more expensive at what, 25 bucks i think, but albeit with free lifetime replacement. Dunno about performance though...

I can't make out however, if the full body skin also covers the edge (open slit) of the screen to prevent any dust/lint from getting inside it and further into the screen.
Can you confirm please?
Before this I had an all black TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) case. It was ok, but the back looked very plain and boring. So I was looking for something little better, but didn’t want to get one with some wired pattern. Then I came across this.
I didn’t much like the metallic bezel of the SGS, and this case covers it pretty nicely. The best thing about it is the semi transparent back. As you can see from the photos below, I inserted a small piece of paper which I printed off a normal color printer having the Google logo and Android robot; IMO it gives a nice touch. Basically you can put just about anything you like. Overall I think it’s a pretty good case, it doesn’t add much bulk and it is very discreet.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, the buttons are harder to press though.. Thats the only gripe I have against it.
Finally here are some of my photos, Enjoy :

thanks for review and photo tip nice idea... and looks very good
could You tell something about 'the grip' ? is phone still slippy ?
doublepost_sorry
does the case absorbes any impact at all?
seems very fragile compared to the mesh type case
Been using this case since I got my phone. The semi-transparent back is hard plastic while the sides are soft. The grip is definitely better than without a case, but I wouldn't say it's great since the back is somewhat smooth. Not sure about drops though.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the sides buttons are kinda hard to press, but I'm guessing thats the same with all SGS cases.

The grip is ok but not as good as with a silicon or a full TPU case (I had before) because back is made out of a hard plastic like material with a grainy textured feel to it.

Bezel (the dark black area) still has a flexible rubbery feel to it (much like TPU/Silicon based cases), so I think it can absorb some shock, maybe not as much as other 100% silicon based cases. Transparent back is harder than the black frame, but still flexible (for example when the phone is inserted and taken out you have to bend it , and it doesn't seem to me that it would break easily, you can think of the material as somewhat similar to what regular microwave safe plastic containers are made out of, hard but flexible as well). I guess if the phone falls flat on it's back maybe a full silicon based case might do a slightly better job, but then again none of the cases out there can't guarantee to protect your phone from a fall. I think they are better at keeping the phone scratch free more than protecting from drops.

Yes, buttons are hard to press. But I had the same problem with the case I had before, and I even tried out a softer casing before that , same issue.
Nice review, good looking case, but I prefere flip cases. And got a good one of thoes
---
OT To me cases are basicly just for the looks.
Since I dont intend to be throwing or dropping my phone.
It´s an expensive thing so ofc one uses care when handling it
i prefer my case, ill post a pic later
To add to the OP review, this is one nice case.
I just receive this case from my ebay purchase, installed on my SGS and really liked the case.
Seems like it protects the phone really well.
I also picked up some gel case from ebay. The gel case doesn't cover the bezel very well. This Momax case covers the entire bezel really well, and doesn't add bulk to the phone at all.
really nice case. i like my case mate tough case but it's made the phone a bit too bulky for my liking. this might be a nice compromise between tough case and no case at all.
may try this one out.
Can anyone compare this to a Case-mate barely there case?
They would seem to be on the same "class" of case.
From what I am seeing, the Barely there case would be thinner, but cover less, and also cost more.
From what I see on the casmate website its only for T-Mobile Vibrant..
hi all,
my case came today and i really like it. i have a casemate tough case and while it certainly is tough, it made the phone bulkier than i was happy with.
the momax seems to be just enough coverage to make you feel pretty comfortable with drops but slim enough not to add too much bulk. of course, some bulk is to be expected and i still find the phone more comfortable to hold with the momax case than without any case. without a case i kept thinking i was going to drop the darn thing.
very happy with this case, i will be selling my tough case.
cheers
FYI, it is a really good case and i really liked it. But not really recommend this case if you always need to take your case off.
I got a white one few months ago. Recently i found the hard part scratch the silver front edge...and i have no any method to remove those mark now. So i don't use this case anymore now until i find the best case.
Moreover, the white color seems turning pearl yellow. I think it is because the sweat of my hands.
Anybody have same experience?
Bought this Case - my take
I got this case for 12 dollars off ebay and am glad i paid the premium over the cheap gel cases!
I do not like the gel cases as they are very hard to get into and out of your pockets (especially jeans) so when i saw this case with the hard back i thought id give it a try.
The case does slide out of your pocket easier then a full gell case and seems to protect the phone well. it also hides the silver bezel which is nice since it provides some protection from a fall on a flat surface(providing theres no pebels)
its still not as easy to slide out as the phone without a case but acceptable and the protection is nice!
I have managed to put a few small scratches in the back but its prob from my keys that tend to be in the same pocket of my phone on occasion.
only downside is dust collects along the edges but a quick wipe with a cloth gets rid of it.
I think this is way better than the silicon cases. They tend to stretch and slip off when you take the phone out of the pocket
Here's another option,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Tec-PGSGSFCL-Glacier-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0043GW8JI
Got one in my local Vodafone shop for €12, fits great way better than those regular silicon cases, doesn't come off the phone, not discolouring either, gives a millimetre or two of clearance for the camera lens when you put it down flat.
If this is the CaseMate Barely There mentioned earlier http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Tec-PGSGSFCL-Glacier-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0043GW8JI then it does fit the GT I9000. They had one in my local O2 shop that was for a Vibrant, (even though you can't get Vibrant's here), so I figured I'd try it. It fits beautifully, and doesn't bulk up the phone like all the other cases. I'm seriously considering one to replace the Pro-Tec, but it's €20, and wont have the clearance for the camera. Looks great on the phone though

me too! thanks for the review
Well i've had the case for 2 weeks now so I feel I can give you guys an honest review of the case.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSCkAmij7P0
Construction.
The case is two parts, as i'm sure you've already read, however I want to draw your attention to both parts with regards to manufacturing, and design.
The internal hard case is a two part snap fit,
it features a lens protector which is substantial, and seems fit for purpose, there isn't any distortion i can see, and the plastic seems solid. The screen protector built into this case seems of high quality, but does cause colour refraction of the screen (the effects of a oily screen) this isn't terrible and I suffered the same using a Invisishield screen protector, but it's worth noting. I don't like the fact that the buttons on the front of the phone are cut out, the amount of lint and hair i get through the holes is unbearable to myself, and this leads to the next problem.
There are 6 snap fit clips around the body which on first fit are ridiciously tight. this is good and bad. If you never take the case off then it is sure to survive any impact, however if your like me and the dirt annoys you under the screen protector you'll be taking it off all the time. Now once you break that virgin seal the clips never hold as tight, this isn't to say it no longer grips, just it's not tight so now the two part plastic creaks and squeeks if squeezed together, the movement isn't huge but again I like things to be solid, and this case isn't.
Now the Silicon case goes on the outside, unlike the Case Mate - Tough.
I see this as a better idea than the hardcase on the outside, however Otterbox have slipped up a little in my opinion. There is a raised lip on the outside edge which the silicon case slips over to secure it. they've made one on the top, two long ones each side, and to hooks on the bottom. But not on the corners, this is where it's needed most because of the lack of lip you'll find that when you catch the rubber on your clothes hand, an object it will pull away from the plastic part. I'm constantly having to push the rubber back into the lip and massage the corners so they meet the body better.
Impact protection.
Purely by chance the other week my desire went down an iron staircase on a building site. Not good but a perfect test for the case.
Well tbh my phone picked up a bit of speed and dented a plasterboard wall on stopping. I was pretty sure I was in for a new phone, but to my honest surprise the case did it's job. The phone is in perfect nick, the case itself is ok too.
Conclusion.
Well the case is big and bulky, it makes the phone slightly larger than a iPhone 3GS with case attached, which by todays standards is a brick, it's not asthetically pleasing to those with an eye for detail because of the squeeks, the loose outer rubber cover, and the screen proctector creating colour reflex, and obvious holes (the mk2 doesn't have the holes i'm told) it's not really a looker. But thats not what this case is about, if you need a case to protect your phone on busy building sites, or even if you a cluts dropping it all the time then this is the case of choice. I think if Otterbox revisit this case, perhaps add the lip all the way round to hook the rubber over, use a clearer screen protector, perhaps using a snap fit lip upposed to 6 clips then this would appeal to the people looking for a stylish protection solution. I believe this case is the best solution for protection, but looses alot of ground based on looks.

Your welcome mate
Thanks for the review, after viewing it i think maybe i just gonna buy the commuter..not defender, i love the "sexy" looks on my desire..
Great review mate..
thanks man,
new review up
nice reviews man you happen to be able to make a comparison between the otterbox commuter and the case-mate tough case?
I would but unfortunately I don't own that case, if I fall out with my tough case, i may buy one and review it thoug
i owned a commuter case till yesterday. returned it today and bought a case-mate tough case based on your review
hope you like it
Nice review! Thanks man!
Thanks for the review, detailed feedback is v. helpful.
I have had the defender since day one when released. I removed the protective screen it came with and use a zagg protective screen instead. Like the original poster stated the rubber does come off all the time on the edges and I find myself consistently pushing it back into place. Not a big deal. Also I have noticed my rubber piece for. The earphone Jack is starting to rip off. Good case overall in my opinion.
I like it very much.
Thanks for this great review!!!!!!!!
other problem
not sure if its just my otterbox, and not sure if it was already mentioned in the review.
in the upper left corner of the case is a hole that shows a very small portion of the screen. this is for the sensor inside that knows when the phone is up to your face when on a call. when you put the phone down, the screen comes back on. however, like mentioned in the review, with all the holes in this case, dirt and dust collect very easily, and block that sensor from seeing your face, therefore, when you take the phone away from your face, the phone's screen remains locked out. button pressing wont bring it back on. you actually have to wait for some hole to shine through to that sensor, or take the otter box apart so the screen will come back on. very, very annoying.
Hey guys,
I don't usually post much as I mostly read the great things people post in this great community, but i had to make a review for this case for everyone. I have bought a case from this ebay user (dcmugen) since i got my mytouch. Then my Nexus, and now my G2. This case is awesome to me. Heres my review:
Feeling: These cases are made from some type of flexible material called Thermoplastic polyurethanes, or TPU. This plastic gives it a flexible feeling but solid. Hard to explain other than saying its a stiffer silicone case. Though it feels rubbery to the touch and the grip you get on it is great, It will slide in and out of your pocket without getting caught on fabric.
Fit: When I first looked at the case I made sure all the openings were there for the speaker, flash, light sensor, etc. Everything has a smooth opening and there is nothing that is left out. Took me less than 2 minutes to put the case together. Since the case is TPU, it doesn't seem to run any risk of scratching your phone once put on. Both sides of the case fit snug and once on, The phone is able to completely close without any space left open between keyboard/screen. When open, it leaved a little void but it is not noticeable.
Typing on it, takes a few times to get used to as the feel of the phone is a little different. The top row of keys are still accessible with no problems, but again take getting used to because of the touch of the new case.
The screen area is raised. This allows your phone to be dropped on the screen and not get hurt! The case also comes with a screen protector, though not like a Zagg screen, works quite well and I recommend it. The trackpad is easily accessable and is not hindered in any way.
The hardware buttons are covered and have a fully solid TPU button over them and are enclosed in the case. They still work perfectly and have had no issues with them.
Protection: Since I've had these cases before, I can vouch and say they protect quite well. I've dropped my phones on concrete, dirt, chairs, tables, etc, and they will not get scratched.
All in all, for the $5 I paid, I'm alot happier with this one, than the cheap hard plastic one i bought from Amazon that broke after a week of use. Highly recommend this.
Here is the link to the Ebay store

I will post pictures of mine either later tonight or tomorrow morning.
Side note: the item is shipped from Hong Kong and takes a bit to get to you. Usually my cases get to where I am (New Orleans) within a full week. So be patient.
Pictures! Finally!

A link would help too!
It wouldn't let me post pictures because of a 8 forum post limitation. This is my 8th post. Don't like spam but i dont want to randomly post in stuff i don't have interest in! Pictures are coming up in a few minutes.
Dude that's an awesome case. I've been waiting for something like that. I have an otterbox but i like to mix it up a bit. Is it tight fitting?
sent from my V I S I O N.
How hard is the case to take on an off? Some of the oem ones felt like i was gonna break my phone taking them off I just want one to keep on it at work.
Patrick: it is a very snug case and does not slide around while on the phone. I can type and have no problems with it.
ionic7: the case takes less than 5 seconds to take off. Does not feel like it will scratch your phone either. Thats one of the main things that bother me with hard plastic shell cases.

TY for the reply I had already ordered one with the mirror screen protector before you posted
Dude, please resize the pics.
Where do you buy this case? Thanks!
I would also like a direct link to the case you have, please! I want one.
sent from my V I S I O N.
I highly recommend their screen protectors too.
Their clear one is top notch.
Matte and other variations are expected to have a decrease in screen quality (as with any brand)
well i ordered one..and it came with a screen protector eventhough ive already got a couple. haha. right now im sitting with an otterbox back, with a front piece from a rubberized tmobile case. its nice.
Resized pictures. Sorry didn't notice they were huge as a brower extension i have automatically resized them to fit.
I know its late, but this is the one i ordered:

I just wish they would make a red one. I'd be all over it!
Looks like a great case, I have the otterbox and I like it but looking for something a little bit thinner. It adds a bit a bulk to the phone. Anyone used both and can give a comparison?

There are some other G2 TPU cases with an argyle pattern on the back. These come in a few more color options, including red. Just do a search for "G2 red tpu case" on ebay. I have a clear one myself. These cases are great!

I am with you that I wish the otterbox had more grip to it. Looking forward to seeing your comparison.
Hello,
I am looking for a vertical leather case w/ belt clip for my sensation. Anyone has experience with any? I have seen the PDair one on ebay but it doesn't have a closing cover.
THis one:

is pretty once but it's a bit big for the sensation.

I have the black with red stitching. It fits the phone length wise and without a case, it does have some space in the case, but it is protected. If you put on any other case like a body glove case or barely there case or the pictured Mobi case, it fits really well...

I now know why Darth Vader has that breathing problem... all the smoking!
I'm on the hunt for a vertical flip holster that is slim and holds the naked Sensation snugly. So far my efforts have not been fruitful. Most are too generic and made for any thick device. I'll post whenever I find one.
-Edit-
Keep in mind the location of the power button on top. I'm currently using an old thin Blackberry holster that likes to hold down the power button and keep the screen on. It goes off though unless screen timeout is off.

if you are looking for a tight one then buy the pdair.

PDair cases always fit tight. I bought a horizontal leather case from them once and I have to stretch it since I like my phone fitting loosely inside the case

I see a few variants of that case online. I'm going to pull the trigger on one. At first I didn't like the idea of no "flip" part. Years of Blackberry/Android holsters have gotten me used to "flipping" up that flap. I tried with my current beat up holster and tucked the flap back and into my pants so the top is open. Yes it looks silly but I found I like it open on top. As long as I don't walk on my hands I should be ok.
I'm using the vertical leather sleeve with belt clip for the Samsung Galaxy 4G. Got it at the Tmo store with my Sensation and I think it's really nice. The actual clip is the most secure I've ever used.

anyways, does anyone think a vertical case for such a big phone would look weird? Honestly I've only seen people with a blackberry vertical leather case, which are definitely way smaller
I'm using this one from Tumi but it has no belt clip.

I've always had vertical case for my devices, but this phone is too big when I tried it!
I prefer the vertical look better and for me it's more functional than sideways. I always liked having my Blackberries vertical. I ended up getting a case like c19932 recommended and I love it. This is the specific one I got.
Vertical Holster I Bought
There is a video there. The build quality is great and the clip is strong enough I could probably hang from it. It's not overly thick and bulky like most holsters I've seen. The phone fits nice and snugly. I could walk on my hands all day and it wouldn't fall out. It's easy to take the phone in/out. Far easier than having a flip top. I would say it will decrease the chance of an accidental drop. I would definitely recommend any case like this one!
