What a beautiful phone !!
Best phone of all time ?
Well not if you want a small phone or a keyboard, but it you want a bigger screen smartphone this has to be yes!
The main thing, or the sum of the parts, about this phone, is that HTC have put all their previous experience into the form factor and it shows.
For such a large screen device it feels small and light in the hand. It also looks smaller then it it.
The alu/plastic back is the perfect shape for holding and setting down. The front glass is lovely and the way you take the back off is the best way - no slide off shell that almost breaks everytime you do it, rather a release button and a smooth slide off. Even the slide-off is confidence building - the back encircles the main phone can curves round at the top. This ensures no rattling and also sealing the internals nicely.
The build quality is light and day difference from the Samsung Galaxy SII, for example. The Samsung is light and feels cheap. Worse, the last one I looked at in an O2 shop had a piece of velcro on the back slicking it to a small stand. Repeated removal meant that the thin plastic back was warped, one corner stuck off exposing some electronics and the middle had a nasty fold down it meaning it was hardly attached.
HTC Sense is the next jewel in HTC's crown. Sense 3D is no big upgrade but after some configuration it appears as jewel like as the body (I have a B&W picture background from the HTC collection) with dual clocks on the home screen, and a swiss watch skeleton clock on the lock screen).
Operation is fast and smooth. There are occasional jerks but I am sure this will be dealt with with a firmware upgrade (after all, multi-core CPUs are just introduced to Android).
The screen is a joy. Not so bright or contrasty as a AMOLED, but fantastic in its own right. The one criticism, if a bit picky, is that the contrast drops off sharply as you look at an angle. The extra 100 pixels either way over the normal high-spec android is really really useful for surfing and email (540x960).
Main gripes:
1. Not many apps using multi-core cpu
2. Not many apps using full screen resolution
3. Volume on ear piece could be a bit higher
All-in-all a great software effort for HTC's first dual core release but hardwarewise a mature and well thought out build with real ownership pleasure.
I think you could make the Moto Cliq sound amazing. You just made me so excited to have this phone.

Sony xperia play -come on - no review says that ....
I would definitely own the Sensation over the iPhone 4, any day of the week. It's not even close. To me, that's a significant statement to make given how the iPhone has pretty much dominated.

I've just come from having an iPhone 4(had it a year, and got bored), and this is my first Android phone. I must say i am happy with the phone, but the best phone ever? Not yet.
The iPhone has a great Retina screen and its build quality is great. But you have to jailbreak it to get some basic features, like bluetooth, customising themes, tethering etc.
The Sensation is great out of the box, not a snappy as i anticipated i think due to sense. But i has everything i need as stock.
Sound is a bit low, and crackly sometimes. But i am impressed.
Cant wait to root it and unlock the real speed of the phone

Sensation is beautiful but the best graphics?
3Gs the best phone ever? Really?
Nexus One, the best android phone ever? Maybe only to the dev community.
Fastest - Should read fastest data speeds, then yes I would agree with that one. In terms of overall responsiveness, then no.
Gaming phone - could be any Galaxy S1 (Power VRSGX540 is still a beast), GS2, or any tegra2 device out there. The Xperia play has an Adreno 205 GPU which makes it decent at best, physical controls and all. But it lines up with the rest of Sony's product lines - They make a lot of good stuff, just never the best.

I feel the same way but..... give iPhone 4.3" screen and T-mo bands and we'll talk again. I don't like apple, SJ or their nazi ways but there's something fascinating about having a device that just. works. out. of. the. box. Mind you, this is coming from Android follower since day 1 (Got G1 on the day of the release). I'm sick of rooting phones just to make them work and I thought that Sensation will be the phone I can live with. I mean it does sound great on paper but in real life - software on it is big heaping pile of ****. I truly believe that HTC is getting too comfy being one the biggest names in Android game and they are cutting corners left and right. Guess what - it shows.
Can't wait for S-off and CM.

Couldn't agree more! This phone has made, by far, the best first impression (and continued) of any new device I've purchased in years.
I'm not sure why the 3GS was brought up here - I went from the 3G to the 3GS and really didn't feel it was worth it (it was a free upgrade through work, so what the heck). The original iPhone can get a mention, but I wouldn't give any of the subsequent models anything special.
I was a htc fan for a long period of time. Now i'm cured..
OP: go to youtube and watch some comparison videos between sensation and galaxy s2.
How can you claim that? Damn, some people just cannot accept the reality.
How much free usable ram do you got? Can you play full hd videos with flash?

the galaxy s 2 is faster but perhaps new htc software will make it up
however the margin is not worth it compared to the terrible build or Fischer price os

That's a d*ck move you pulled there. Go back under the bridge from which you came. The OP didn't once claim that this phone was better than the GS2. He was merely stating that he's in love with his phone. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone already knows that the GS2 is superior performance wise. Now go back to your Samsung forums and leave us be.

I'm posting here just because I don't like when the true is distorted. I could easily chose the sensation but for me the sgs2 wins (raw performance, ram, storage, etc).

Before you come out here looking like a complete *ahem* ...wait, too late... I was ABOUT to say that you should probably take into consideration that at this point in time this IS the best phone ever available in the United States. For any of us living here, it's a no brainer. As far as the rest of the world - can't people be allowed to enjoy anything anymore?

I agree about how nice it is that the iPhone works out of the box but I have to say I was able to get up and running in no time on my new Sensation just by entering my gmail account info...boom everything was there.
As for Sense I never liked/used Sense before but IF I got stuck with it on the Sensation I wouldn't be ready to kill myself. Frankly I think CM ROMs are waaaay overrated...so they are faster, great, but half the time stuff like GPS don't work. That said I will root this baby the second I get the chance.

GS2 is definitely more powerful at the moment. But after software update, hopefully the Sensation will show big improvement. I mean Sense 3.0 runs very smoothly on EVO 3d, so there's no reason why Sensation couldn't.
Sound and camera quality on HTC, however, need to be a lot better. Samsung have this, as well as sheer power and speed covered. But of course, HTC have an upper hand in the aesthetics of the phone, both hardware and software.
While I long for GS2's unstoppable power, I really cannot stand its big, non-matchingly-colorful, unpolished interface (I don't mind the plastic build). Same with the Sensation - unbelievably beautiful look of the device and UI, but things like dust under screen, dim screen (compared to EVO 3d), whispering speaker volume and average camera quality turn me off quite a bit.
So, I'm gonna stick to my good, old blackberry and wait until HTC or Samsung
address their weakness.
I it might be jumping the gun a bit, but my contract runs out in Jan 2012 ( Early upgrade avail Dec 2011 ) just over 4 months away.
I went from a Touch pro to a Touch pro 2, to a dell streak 5, I haven't used Windows phone 7 or Blackberry, but I'm thinking of sticking with Android after the Streak experience compared to WinMo6.5.
Really want a phone that's not too small, easy to type on and has a decent camera, 4.3"+ I think could work.

Whoa! thats a long ways away! I wonder what types of new technology they will have then? It is cool to think about though. Out of the phones they have out now I would go with either the photon or the evo 3d. If you like 3d then the evo, if not then the photon, I really like the idea of having the nvidia dual core.
I too have an upgrade in January, I'm just going to have to wait until the end of the year to see what the playground looks like.

I looked at the LG one, apparently the 3D viewing angles are really narrow, could be annoying unless the rest of the phone is a lot better than the evo 3D, but then I haven't read any reviews that mention the viewing angle of the evo yet.
I really liked the Touch pro from HTC it was a robust trust worthy phone and the slide out keyboard was a massive bonus, but the Touch pro 2 screen cracked after a week ( Touch pro lasted well over a year ) and the buttons on the bottom went soft after a few months, to the point they were difficult to use, and the keyboard was temperamental, maybe there non-keyboard phones are more robust, the HD has good enough reviews...
Samsung S2 is supposedly the best phone all round, maybe if they release a 3D version that could be a contender.

Tis true, phones are getting very similar, it's getting to be more like choosing a laptop, pre-installed platform and hardware spec are the primary choice, and that's why I wouldn't touch an Iphone with a barge pole.
HTC evo has the edge over LG's optimus spec wise, but apparently it'll cost £200 more, so the HTC has it so far, unless someone else releases a 3D phone or a better spec phone without 3D.
Shame the streak has died on its proverbial, it's a decent phone once ya' get used to the 5" brick in ya' pocket.
Be nice to have a one handed phone again, but I doubt 4.3" would realistically allow for that much better than the 5" does.
just wait for the Nexus Prime. i think that device will call a new generation of phones..
The HTC holiday will be very interesting, Samsung attain also looks nice

As you can see from my siggy i have used phones from lg samsung nokia htc and sony im gonna tell you my xp with them
old lg phone - was nice had fm radio and sudoku game that wud entertain me for along time from 2001 -2006
lg cookie 501 - was very customizable skins , java games and 3 mp cam was good 2006 - 2008
nokia c6-01 - early ages of symbian^3 , had cool games and such but was so laggy!! the camera was awsome 8mp! with dual led 2008 - 2009
htc wildfire!! - first android , after my nokia got drowned , i bought the wildfire cause it was cheap and had good reviews , i liked htc sense 2.1
but was unsatisfied cause it was stuck on froyo.. sense made it more laggier! but the 5mp cam was ok but worse then the c6-01. 2009 - 2010
galaxy mini - was an awsome phone that had alot of custom roms!! released on gingerbread , 600mhz was ok 3mp cam was a really big
downgrade!!! the fact i like this phone is the custom roms it felt new when i got rid of touchwhiz 2.. 2010 - 2011 sept
and finally
xperia ray - current phone 1ghz 512mb ram , gb > ics > soon jellybean , exmor r sensor 8mp! 9mm , this was amazing the support that sony has is amazing and so durable. it made stay for the nxt sony phone 2011 sept - PACMAN ROM!!

I had a Nokia 2720 from 2009 to mid 2010. Way too simple of a phone.
Then I got a Motorola EM330. Just as simple as the Nokia, but had microSD expansion so I could store my music.
In November of 2011, I decided to get my first taste of Android. I got a Motorola Cliq. Many ROMs but was a lag beast. 5mp shooter. Terrible and no flash.
December 2011. Bought a used LG Ally off eBay. It was a step up in speed, step down in camera (3.2mp but with LED flash), big jump in pixel density and screen resolution, but only had a small handful of ROMs.
January 2012, I got a Motorola Droid due to high development and a recent ICS port. Nice large screen and high DPI, good 5mp camera with dual LED flash, but definitely had great development. First of my phones with Adobe Flash. Such a cool factor.
March 2012, I received a temporary Droid 2. With a 1GHz processor, I had high expectations... but was disappointed by the lag when loading pages with lots of pictures such as phonearena or phonedog. I definitely noticed a speed increase in gaming compared to my other phones, however. Updated to unrootable firmware and to this day the only phone I have owned that is still on stock ROM. Same cam as Droid 1.
Late June, 2012. I bought a Motorola Flipside to replace my Motorola Cliq which was still my phone for calling/texting. Awful development and awful memory, but speedy processor and good enough RAM. CM7 and link2sd saved me, thankfully. 3.1mp no autofocus the worst smartphone camera I've used.

My first phone was a Nokia 8210 then 8310, 7210, 3650, 9210, 9500, E61i the best phone I have ever used, E71 was fast but lacked the E61i grip, a few 1100 and that sort of phones, currently i got the X1, dual Sim and both works at the same time which is great for a $35 phone that has a slot for micro SD up to 16 GB.
Blackberry 7270 First blackberry with bluetooth, BBM v1 was hit back in the day, 9500, 9000, 8910, 8250, 9700, 9800, 9900
Sony Ericsson W900i, T68 great phones, If i can remember correctly T68 was the first phone to have colors
Android HTC Dream (T-mobile G1) great phone i still remember people used to switch the trackball of this phone to a Blackberry, Alcatel One Touch 991 current phone, just unlocked it and I'd be using more and more of it, fast for it's value €100, battery life isn't that great, barely hold a day, but with that price I didn't expect more.
iPhone 3G, 3Gs, 4, 4s, they only lasted a week after iPhone 4, but I wasn't a big fan of no flash where others manufactures had a greater specs.
iMate JASJAM oh man, GPRS, Windows Live Messenger and all of that reminds me of the good old days, pre-iphone generation kids now adays wouldn't know how it felt.a
Palm can't recall the model or when I had it, i know it was there somewhere.
Java has it's touch too with games and apps

Experience with my phones
I do not remember some of them. But i got excellent experience with my cell phones. I do remember I git Nokia N10 initiall. It was nice phone though not much features.
Then i moved towards NOkia Cell phones. It was a great Experience. I used Nokia 1112 with FM, and some other features also nice keypad. I also used Nokia 1110 and Nokia 103. All are cool sets. Very reliable and worth full indeed
My first was a Nokia 8310, then a 9500. Then I went on a Motorola spree with some silver flip-phone pieces of ****, followed by a RAZR. Tried a Blackberry Pearl 8310 for a while. Now I am on a Samsung Infuse 4G.
What motivates me to try a new phone? Price. I am a cheap SOB, and am willing to use slightly outdated tech to save a buck. The total out-of-pocket cost for all of the above phones is a whopping $0.01 U.S. which I paid for my latest Infuse.

My first cell phone N343i, and I think that was somewhere around 2005. At the time I had actually no use for a cell phone, but I just had to have a cell phone for "all the other" kids had one. So after lots of looking around I found that one, and got it prepaid. I think I haven't sent more than a twenty messages with it, and nothing else. The screen got cracked over the years, but I still have it somewhere.
I think I carried it about a year and a half, and then I decided not to have any cell phone at all until there seemed the need for it again, and that was somewhere early in 2009. I got myself a nice Samsung C3050. The only requirements I had at the time were that it had the possibility to have MP3 ringtones. In the end that was a silly thing to go for, since I always had my phone on vibrate, so I really never heard the MP3 ringtone. I carried that one until a month ago, since it sometimes would power off for no reason, and sometimes it didn't even turn on. Then I moved to my dad's old N97 mini. The screen is good, but the software underneath it was so-so. Symbian didn't work as I wanted it to, and I longed for an Android phone.
I noticed the Xperia Miro, and that's the one I have now. The screen is a downgrade from the N97 mini resolution-wise, but I just didn't want to spend a lot of money on a cell phone. I don't think I need the high specs, since there is nothing spectacular that I will be doing on it. And, I don't think I should spend that much money on a single thing considering I work just a couple days at minimum wage. There are more important things than a fast cell phone! (Believe it or not. I'm quite a fan of books, and those need to be bought too.)
My next device will most likely be something top of the range, but that is just because I expect to have a better job by then.

I'm using sgs2 for a year now and thanks to developers that I don't have to buy a new phone due to fast android development. I'm testing JB on my device and my company yet to release JB updates. Hats off to developers.
First phone was some Motorola which had black white screen. It also had that sexy antenna on the top. It was a good phone, don't remember much.
The next one was I guess the first Ericsson phone(later Sony Ericsson). It didn't have any games or changeable ringtones, you could only text and call with it.
The next one was Nokia 3310. Yes, THE Nokia. I liked it, every one was jealous at me, cause it was so cool! It had the original Snake game
After that I had a couple of Nokia Symbian phones. They all sucked! I hate Symbian! It was slow and buggy, it made me mad
Sony Ericsson K550i. The best phone till the date. It had good camera, led flash light, java games(I literally had two thousand games on it!) and WalkMan music player! Awesome phone,I remember we threw that phone outside on rocks and asphalt(drunk...) and there was no scratches or cracks anywhere! I sold the phone later with a decent price.
Sony Ericsson W890. Again, awesome phone. I was a big fan out SE those days. It was a flip phone, and when the flip was closed, the button lights on top of the phone turned on and you could play music using those capacitive buttons! There was also a 1" screen above the buttons. You can only imagine how jelly everybody was...
That phone however, did break. It just didn't turn on
ZTE Blade, it was great at start. My first real smart phone(Android, baby!). It had fairly big development scene, not in XDA though. It also had official Cyanogenmod support. This phone was extremely slow, and upgraded it after a rough year.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. Great camera, looked good, but it was slow too. Upgraded it after two months. I just wasn't satisfied.
Samsung Galaxy S2. This phone's a beast. Dual core, decent camera, AMOLED screen, huge development scene etc. I love this big boy Bought it like three months ago.

My first phone was the SE W710i. I really liked the thing although it was really thick. unfortunately it got stolen after 5 weeks.
my second phone was the SE S500i. again a SE phone this one looked nicer than the W710i but the keys on the keypad started breaking in half. I sent it back for repair, after repaired I used it for another 1,5 years.
Third phone was the Nokia 3110c, b/c my S500i was broken for good someone gave me this phone. I didn't like it, it was very slow, the screen sucked (very low resolution and ****ty colors).
4th phone was the ZTE Blade (still got it). this was my thirst android phone. It had a very active community, so within 2 days I tested more than 5 different roms. The real downsides of this phone are the old (slow) armv6 cpu, the ****ty camera and the low headset volume.
Now I have the SGS+ i9001 I really like it, but I would like the official cm support which I was used to have on my blade.
My first phone was a Motorola Adventure V750 that I used from April 2009-April 2011. Good lord the thing was frustrating to use! It constantly froze and rebooted itself; it was a pain to text; couldn't do anything on it (tried to get games on it, but no dice!).. Bleh. It was good for being almost indestructible though!
Second phone was a Nokia E71 from April 2011-April 2012. I love it. The keyboard is great, it's durable, has a nice design... almost perfect. Though it did tend to get laggy for almost no reason, and the version of Symbian its running is pretty outdated looking. Regularly use it when I don't want to take my newest phone out...
Currently I use a Samsung Galaxy Note i717 that I got in April this year. It is a terrific phone; the screen is nice and large and crisp, it's very smooth and responsive and Android has a ton of great apps/features. I love this phone.
I've owned 4 different Sony Ericsson, love all of them! Right now using Xperia Pro, first time using custom kernel and ROM, pretty buggy..... still trying to figure them out.
My favorite is the HTC HD2, before Samsung Omnia i900, HTC Trinity (very nice phone), many of nokia models. At this time I think about Samsung G S3 but I still love my HD2.
I've owned a number of whatever blah cell phones that I've gotten for free with service contracts and all that, but the greatest phone of all was the LG enV. Loved that little keyboard, never texted faster in my life. Plus I got a pretty sick Nip/Tuck game that would gross out my friends. HTC Incredible comes second, with my current Inc2 right behind it. Droid 3 sux the worst.
For me the worst was motorola e365, I had too many problems with that phone and 2 days after finish guarante the phone was dead. From that time I never bought nothing made by motorola.
I think my telephone is the better!!! It is the lg optimus one..i have it for 2 years and i can say that you can do everything with this amazing phone!!!

My favourite android phone is xFone C2- one 3G Ice Cream Sandwich SmartPhone. 6 inch Capatitive Multi-Touch Screen is perfect for me.i have kept it for 1 year now.
Nokia 6100 - first phone back in the day was still young didnt know a lot about phones was happy with it; second I can recall was Nokia 6020 this one came with a camera didnt really feel an upgrade, ive gone with this one for a while till i got a present a nokia 7070 used it until I accidentally left it in a pocket of a vest which went in to the washing machine... Rip was quite a good one, then I got a blackberry 8320 somehow lost it one day, it was my first blackberry and was just in love with the keyboard, was writing everything that came to my mind lol... then I got a nokia n73 from a friend which I use until today, along with a xperia x10, but will go out hunting for something bigger and better in a few weeks.
I had few nokia, Those thing always work! I was young, i dropped them, throw them, etc!
SHC-U740. Dual flip. I was sure i would destroy that phone! It held on good! Viva el QWERTY phone.
Now I have a Vision. No problem so far but I just can't wait to have new QWERTY phone. The Vision Spec are quite low for ICS&JB.
HTC Rezound: Amazing Camera and audio! It was kind of slow... The screen was extremely sharp but had poor colors and outside visibility. Took forever to get ICS... Htc sense is a beast but overall, this phone was good.
Galaxy s3 (U.S. Version): Incredibly snappy, s4 processor is a beast and easily matches/outperforms quad cores. The gpu is also great but not as good as the Exynos ones... The screen is absolutely amazing, it has the best white-balance and contrast of any amoled screen. I also installed the bravia engine and pentile is unnoticeable. I have android 4.1.1 (still beta) and most things are buttery smooth... Camera is amazing too.

SAMSUNG GALAXY POCKET - i accidentally brick my phone but its already unbricked now
A few devices ago I was lured by the large screen of a Desire HD, this came on the back of owning the first Hero and the original Desire, both devices that I enjoyed based on the build quality and usability; I even had a great fondness for the Sense UI - then the Desire HD acted like a fraudulent thief, it was made like a chocolate teapot, the screen was the most washed out piece of s**t I have ever seen, and the real deceit was the whole solid build look, a pack of lies - the whole thing was misaligned, the covers were poorer fitting than the wrapping on many toys .. what sent it packing back to where I bought it was a software glitch (the details forgotten) and I swore off HTC as a past power, one that had promised, delivered, then hit me over the head and stole my £400, ran off burning its bridges as it guffawed!
So, I was just a little nervous when I loomed over the B-I-N button for the One-S, after my recent Galaxy Nexus was carried off by a real Muggle and sold into slavery in Bulgaria..
..my faith is restored, the screen is bright (enough), the camera is excellent, Sense4 is pretty cool .. and the icing - what a nice sexy body, well put together, solid and sleek.

Just wondering why everyone chose the S4 over the main competition, the HTC One, and the phablet Note II and Optimus G Pro.
Myself, i was happy with my GS3, and my folks wanted new phones (still rockin iPhone 3Gs) and made us a deal for our GS3's and we got GS4's (they are on our plan).
My reasons are perhaps a bit different than most... I work in TV/film, and have very good eyesight; i could easily see the PenTile fuzz effect on the GS3 screen, and it was VERY obvious on the Atrix 4G. I always opted for the highest PPI monitors for equipment, and while the GS3 was GOOD, it wasn't great.
1080P - Full HD, even if its on a tiny screen, is great as i can zoom in to show client/etc detail on 2k/4k i've shot.
Color Modes - i use 'Movie' exclusively as it is basically sRGB
sRGB - standard Rec.709 gamut/colorspace - again for showing clients what their/my content looks like very close as on a proper monitor
IR Blaster - I have remotes everywhere; for HDSLR's, reciever/amp/DAC's, Windows Media PC's, stereo's, TV's, etc; i LOVE the IR blaster.
Sensors - Hygrometer/Thermometer/Magnetometer/Barometer, i actually use these a lot for dumb things, but they work and its a plus
Battery - removable/replaceable
NFC - I use NFC tags a lot (car mode, play a playlist while im cooking/cleaning WITHOUT mucking up phone screen
Wireless charging - Had it in the S3 with NFC working, looking forwards to it with the GS4. Even wired one in the misc tray in my car and GF's SUV
Color - Waited for white to come out as almost everything i own is white. Im a mobile nudist
SD expansion - I usually have 2 or 3 64GB MicroSD cards in my wallet with other stuff on them; pics/demo reel, movies, music, etc. I like having my content stored LOCALLY.
Devs - Also figured it would have strongest support of all 4 i had considered
Reasons i didn't go with the HTC One
Sealed unit, no Ext SD, and i think its really ugly aesthetically.
Reasons i didn't go with the LG Optimus Pro
too big (i can JUST reach across the S4 screen one-handed)
Reasons i didn't go with the Note II
Low PPI screen (lower than GS3 and actually lower than the 960x540 QHD, 4" Atrix 4G)
No IR blaster

What are your reasons? I do miss the Atrix 4G fingerprint sensor. A LOT. That thing was *****in, and accurate; no need to look or fumble, just press power and swipe. One thing i wish the GS4 had.
For me, it came down to the HTC One and the S4. I know all about HTC nice build materials, and shoddy quality and that played into my decision. More importantly, the screen size sealed my decision. The screen and bezels are perfectly done on the S4 while the screen looks a lot smaller than it is on the HTC.
Also, the home button on top annoys me.
It's an impressive device, though and may eventually get one.
Edit: after the purchase, I'm really liking the removable battery too

My girlfriend has the HTC One, and I had it too but returned it for a 32GB S4.
Resons for the S4:
Colors: you can adjust the colors to whatever you want, and soon perseus will be out of 'beta' for the i9500 and we can have 100% color gamut replication, literally changing all the colors around if you want. I personally always like Standard, I don't know why maybe because it just pops out. But today im going to try movie and see if I stay with that as my monitor is calibrated at adobeRGB spec. We'll see.
Bezel: It's like... not there. I have a nice slim case that doesnt protrude at all but im too worried about it at this point to use it haha.
Buttons: Coming from an iPhone 5... home button is the best.
Development: It'll be popular for years. I mean look at the S2 forum.
Reasons I liked the HTC one:
Speakers: self explanatory.
Screen: No color bleeding and such but the blacks weren't as nice.
Build: Aluminium is piece of mind, albeit a thick phone IMO.
Optimus G Pro: Used it in store, amazing screen; LG sucks with updates so I was like hell no... Also camera is mediocre at best.
I'm getting the s4 tomorrow for the following reasons: external sd storage, removable battery, and the screen size. I'm not really into phablets because it would feel too big in my pocket. My nexus 7 is fine if i need a bigger screen. Coming from the HTC One xl and i literally have no space left with the 16gb. Have to keep my titanium back up and movies on a usb. Getting the 32gb version as well as putting in a 32 gb mirco sd in it. Sense vs touchwiz? I would choose touchwiz over sense coming from a poor experience i had with sense on the htc one xl. Definitely AOSP over those two though

You will love movie mode. It takes a couple days to get used to come from other modes, but now even the standard mode looks like crap compared to movie. P.s. Movie mode has been highly rated by a couple of professional display reviewers.

I am a simple man. I chose the S4 because I had the S2, and because it had a removable battery and sd card slot.
I went with the s4 after seeing that commercial where the lady's phone is ringing and she turned it over to ignore the call. I was like wow, I want that.
Reasons why I chose the S4 over the HTC One? Simple, it's more practical and more ideal for productivity and long road trips.
- I like the 1080p AMOLED screen to the SLCD 3 on the HTC One. Richer colors or more realistic ones on the former [choices]
- Better battery life
- Removable battery for further life
- SD Card, more potential capacity [you can root and mesh your internal and external storage for applications/games]
- More pleasant aesthetics
- Preferred UI
- More software offerings [some gimmicks, some useful, but at least they're offered to the consumer]
- Bigger display on the same sized body as the HTC One
- Faster RAM [LDDR3 vs LDDR2]
- Capacitive touch screen works with gloves [great for the winter]
- Won't damage as badly as the metal chassie on the One over time from wear and tear
I used a HTC One for a week, I end up exchanging it for a Galaxy S4 because the 4MP Camera couldn't get enough details for my needs & the battery life wasn't as good as GS4..
As small as it may seem I needed a physical button. Lol.

Two words...that screen. I came from owning nothing but Nexus devices the last two years. I had the chance to fall in love with the Super AMOLED screens on the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and the incredible PLS display on those Nexus 10. What do they all have in common? Samsung. The screen on the Nexus 4 is nice, but once you're used to Samsung's screens, nothing else quite compares.
After being on nothing but stock Android for two years, I have to say that Touchwiz has really impressed me as well. I feel like, I'm cheating on a girlfriend or something when I say that, but it's true. Touchwiz has a fair number of things that I wish Google would implement into the stock UI and UX.
Overall, I'm very happy with this phone. I just hope that AT&T actually allows Samsung to keep this phone up to date. AT&T and T-Mobile are both the worst when it comes to updates. With Verizon and Sprint, the updates may take time to go through approvals and testing, but they will eventually be released. AT&T and T-Mobile on the other hand are known to actually tell manufacturers that they're going to pass on an update made available to them. Cases in point:
1. T-Mobile passed on the Windows Phone 7.8 update for the Lumia 710 even though Nokia made it available.
2. T-Mobile passed on the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the LG G2X even though LG made it available.
3. AT&T still has not allowed Samsung to release Jelly Bean for the original Galaxy S2 I777 model, even though they allowed it for the Skyrocket.
4. AT&T still has not allowed Samsung to release the Galaxy S3 update that includes the premium suite of GS4 features. Now that Verizon approved the update this week, AT&T is the only major carrier left who hasn't allowed the update to happen.
5. AT&T's Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is the only variant left worldwide (I believe) that has not received an update to Jelly Bean.
Don't even get me started on what AT&T did to block and hold off the Android 2.2 update for the Dell Streak 5. Anyway, you see my point. If Samsung keeps up their amazing sales momentum, you figure they will soon have enough clout to strongarm carriers into handling updates themselves like Apple does.
Pending update issues aside, this phone is simply amazing. For leaving stock Android for a skin, I couldn't be happier.
I had an HTC One, while I really enjoyed sense and everything the phone offered I could not help but feed my curiosity. I gave my wife the One and used her upgrade to get the 4. I would be lying if I said I got the 4 for anything other than running stock Android when the Galaxy S4 nexus edition comes out. So far I like the screen size and phone size more than the One, I cannot wait to see how this beast phone runs stock Android!!
