So, I installed Perception. And Perception has a link to "Swype-Cap" on its Add-Ons section. I also found Swype's website has a link to download Swype.
What is the difference between the two? And, how do I install Swype-Cap?
If it's the swype zip from the op install through clockwork.

I've been trying to locate this theme for a few days. Everytime I find a zip and install it I get stuck in a bootloop.
Does anyone know where I can get this theme for the latest stable CM 6.1 release?
Thanks!
Then it isn't made for that ROM, send me the link to your ROM you are running, along with the theme you want on it and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for the assist! Here is the link to the zip of cyanogen that I have installed.

Your problem is quite simple. The theme you are trying to install is for a Motorola Droid. Not good. I suggest not doing that and making sure you flash what is for the phone. You need to remember that Cyanogen makes ROMs for many phones besides the INC. there is a theme porter you can try using. google. android theme porter.
I didn't try to flash that rom, I only attached it because it was an example of what I was trying to install. I found a watermarkd theme that was supposed to be for the dinc and cyanogen 6.1.

Well I can't really download something when it's the wrong link that's all, I need both files to make them compatible. and when I clicked on it, it came up Moto Droid, so I was only to assume you tried to flash that theme.
::facepalm
Hi,
I just installed Vortex's Custom Rom but there are a couple of other apps that were on the stock version that I'd like to have, including swype. I got a copy of all the stock apps for .602 and swype is in there along with some other apps like DLNA, it has both and APK and the ODYK files. I've tried to install swype through the phone but it constantly crashes.
Can someone tell me how to install these apps back onto the custom rom?
Thanks.
You can get swype using the swype beta install... Google it

How about the stock music app? Not really diggin the google one..
Thanks!
I'm just asking because since rooting and trying out CM7 and EB 2.3.7 last fall I have been using the Swype beta as mentioned.
Now that I've learned a bit more about how these devices and their ROMS work, I was just curious if anyone knows if the preinstalled Swype will work on a CM7-based ROM.
The reason I ask is that I'm getting sick of the bar for word suggestions in the Swype beta always staying there even after you've selected a word. I have all word-suggestion related settings disabled but it doesn't go away and the original version didn't leave it up.
Guess worst-case I could just use Titanium backup to backup and delete the beta, then pull the original version off my first backup of the OTA 2.3.3 update ROM and install it on EB 2.3.7 right?
not sure if the original will work but ive been using swype from here.. V5 beta not for galaxy nexus... some pretty cool ones and ive had no problems with it.

Theres a swipe restore apk out there that will install the original Swipe as long as you have your original backup on your phone

Yes, you just need the original .apk and the libSwypeCore.so file

Thank you!!
*edit found it*
libSwypeCore.2.29.71.20750.so found under sysem.ext3.tar under \system\lib
just in case anyone was wondering - this works just fine in ICS - yay no more bloody suggestion bar!
Before I go downloading all the Gapps for each ROM I'm looking to try, is the Gapps different for every ROM or can I just use one from any of the downloads and just run that install whenever I change to a different ROM?It seems to be specific to the ROM, but if I can use one zip I'd prefer to do that. I'd ask the question where I'm getting ROMs, but I need 10 post to post in those threads. :\
I believe it's all the same gapps package but only exceptions would be if the rom provides their own gapps package because it is themed or modded/customized. I could be wrong but I personally have mixed and matched gapps pkgs and everything was fine. Assuming the dates match from the rom and gapps. I use JusTunBean Inverted gapps with ROMs I flash. Hopefully this answered your question. If I'm wrong then hopefully someone can educate me.
For inverted apps these
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797292 or these
http://rootzwiki.com/index.php?/topic/29460-[Inverted]-Inverted-G-Apps-(update-11-18-Play-Store,-Google-+,-Youtube,-Google-Voice,-Google-Music)
and you can use with any Aosp rom. If you want regular apps (non inverted) just grab Goo manager app and select download gapps and you will have latest from Google.

Thanks for the replies guys! This forum is pretty great!
Installed some gapps from goo and it borked my phone and I had to restore back from November to September. I t was the first time I had backed up. I had never tried inverted gapps.
Hi,
I just installed the 4.2.1 rom from aokp but I can not find out how to download any apps. There is no marketplace or google play app. Do I have to find the .apk and download it manually? If so do I need a special version for 4.2.1?
Thanks
Download and flash Google Apps. Goggle "gapps" and download the version for your ROM.
As previously mentioned you need to download the latest version of Google apps for ROMs based on Android 4.2.1 (Such as the latest version of AOKP) and flash the zip package in recovery. Google apps compatible with Android 4.2.1 can be found here http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip.

Thanks a bunch. I must have downloaded the wrong one before. Thanks for the links, that did the trick.
Wow, you all are really quick with the answers. Kudos.
Course, now bluetooth seems broken. It seems to be a a2dp issue. I'll post again with a different title but basically when I tried to listen to music/podcasts it is fine for like 3 seconds then turns really staticy and garbled. I heard the latest nightly from 13-01-28 addressed this so I flashed that which is definitely better but the voices seem off like they are speaking at 80% speed. Weird.
Thanks again you all rock!
A suggestion for you is to get Goo manager. Some of the devs have the gapps right there when you select the rom version for download, Lets you download them together. It'll help you get the right gapps for the rom your looking to use.
