I have a Freecom Network Drive XS connected to my home network. It streams video fine to my laptop via smb and I can also stream to Xbox360 with the built in media server.
On my android phone (samsung galaxy s) I can connect via FTP using AndFTP and ES File Explorer. I however want to stream video and maybe music on my home network via wifi from the network hard drive to my android phone.
In ES File Explorer when I select LAN and do a scan it does not find my network drive. When I use Allshare it shows my network drive however and my laptop. When I select my network drive from the list in Allshare nothing happens though.
Any ideas how I can get streaming video on my home network (when my laptop is turned off) on my android 2.2?
I'm interested in doing the same. I think the biggest issue is finding a player that can stream the video.

Hello to all,
Does anyone know of an application or service that allows you to take videos from your home computer and allow you to stream those videos on an android device without having to be connected to the same wifi network?
I've searched around, and the only options that I've been able to find are those such as Skifta, TVserity, etc where you NEED to be connected to the same wifi network as the pc with the files. Those options work wonderfully.
However I'm looking for something more similar to Google Music where you upload your music, and are then able to access your music anywhere, through the carrier network or through another network
Basically, I'd like to be able to watch (stream) the videos I have on my computer anywhere that I go, without having to fill up the memory on my phone
Any ideas?

Get familiar with using VPN services like Logmein or Jump Desktop. That's about it.
Hej.
I'm confused, I must have tried all streaming apps there is for streaming to WiFi TV and all of them shuts down my 4g connection when hooking up to TV on WiFi. I can not see the point of streaming when loosing my internet connection, I have tried them all, chromecast, bubblepnp, localcast etc and all of them connects to my TV and I can play some music stored on SD but I am not able finding out how to get chrome browser sharing to TV etc or tubio app to play on TV as the mobile data connection is shut down. I'm convinced it is a software problem as what I'm looking for is practically a extended WiFi hotspot. I'm using a huawei g740 android version 4.1.2 phone, Sony bravia TV and a Chinese TV stick name something, it all connects on WiFi so Im stating all hardware works. Please help.
I would like to setup a local area network between my Nexus 7 wifi only tablet and another android tv box which I installed in my car as a media center.I can setup the network with wifi easily to make communication for the same purpose. But wifi and bluetooth radiation is bit concern for me.
I have tried an app called Easy Tether lite for usb cable connection. But it is only allowing to browse some internet sites.I cannot access files or upnp devices like kodi or bubbleupnp server.
Anybody Please Provide me the solution for usb local area network with or without internet.
Thanks in advance
Is it possible to directly stream media files from one android device to another over hotspot connection just like xender and shareit..but for streaming. Dlna requires both android devices to connect to same wifi network and setup through dlna which gets fuzzy sometimes. I want to stream content to my android tv box. Screen casting overheats phone and keeps phone busy while casting. Dlna is perfect but I want to directly stream to my tv box as file shareing is possble between 2 devices.
