Ok so I decided that I wanted to see what all the Froyo fuss was about, so I started getting my phone ready following instructions on the site. I own a Samsung i-9000m (in canada from bell - actually sasktel but we get phones from bell). anyways, I figured i'd do a rom manager backup. I did one, had some trouble with my phone and now I need to do a restore. Reading on the web they all point to an update.zip file. All I have is the following on my internal SD
ClockworkMod\2010-11-24-14.32.54\ and the following files in that folder:
cache.img
datadata.img
system.img
data.img
nandroid.md5
I tried restoring from rom manager but it doesn't find any files, I've booted into recovery but doesn't recognize the img files......any help would be amazing. Am I missing a step, google is no help
loooks like i needed the recovery update.zip file i'm assuming.....for some reason I didn't have it in the clockworkmod folder....

As it seems to be a fairly common question, here is a guide on how to extract your clockworkmod recovery images.
This can come handy if you only want to extract certain apps, or files.
Put your Clockworkmod images in a folder on your computer.
Download this and put it in there, too.
Extract it in there.
Open a cmd-prompt in this folder.
Use this command to extract your data:
Code:
unyaffs.exe img_name_to_extract.img
Wait. the tool will display "end of image" when it is done.
Done. The data should be in the same directory as the tool is.
If you want to restore your contacts:
Extract the data.img
Your contacts will be in:
Code:
\data\com.android.providers.contacts\databases
I have not written the program used in this guide, just found it on my harddrive.
thanks much. so helpful
helped me to pull out contacts
I first had to download and install cgwin1.dll from here http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?cygwin1 and place it in the windows directory to get this to work. But after proceeding I get a "broken image file" when trying this on recovery.img and same thing with boot.img.
I am simply trying to recover some data from this nandroid backup specifically pictures in the sdcard/DCIM directory but I have no idea where it is. Is it located somewhere in the data.ext4.rar or system.ext4.rar files? If so I have looked through those and could not find a DCIM directory of any kind. Would anyone be kind enough to direct me?
Thanks

Hello all,
Firs I like to apologies if I've posted in the wrong section of the forum.
As the title says, I have a Iglo A101 with GingerBread 2.3.4 phone and I accidently deleted the system/bin/sh file.
I was searching for a2sd and I downloaded it, but when running it, instead of pressing 1 - "install a2sd" I pressed 2 "uninstall a2sd", by mistake, and by the time I realized the sh file was deleted. Now the phone is no longer rooted and can't be rooted and also my Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore.
I've search the net for answer but I can't find a solution to this type of phone.
Could someone help me fix this or at least get the Wi-Fi working again?
Thanks in advanced...
OK, I've manage to contact the retailer and he gave me what appears to be the all system files, as now I have a rar containg system.img userdata.img recovery.img etc etc. How do I install this files, because he doesn't appear to know either. I tried from the recovery mode using install update.zip from sdcard but it give's me invalid OTA package and I can't find an answer on how to flash a img file from recovery mode...

Does the device have fastboot? If so the files need to flashed using fastboot. The command is fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot flash system system.img.
If your device does not have fastboot then you will need to extract the system.img and make a flashable .zip so you can flash through CWM or whatever your recovery is. If you are using stock recovery then I eexpect you will either need to find a solution or send it off for repair. I will have a look into helping you get your device back up and running but I cant promise to succeed. Give me a few days and I will report back with any solutions or info to get you on your way to fixing your device.

hi
i had similar problem on this device a101 i did not delete any folder but by rooting the device my wifi and Bluetooth stoped working.i solved the problem by the factory menu.....have you tried it?
i did factory reset, but since there a system file missing it doesn't solve it..Can't there be a way to create an update.zip package with the sh file and then apply like an update from recovery? I've been trying to understand what does invalid OTA package mean, I think if that would be solved then I could easily put the file back...
i think you need spb launcher
i have to admit i used it only ones before for china 5388 there i needed com + usb cable here you need just a normal cable us the boot on this phone is different i have all you need give me email i will send to you. i have scater for a101 file too.i never used it but i have.Us i said my phone work ok after reset from factory mode

If you have the system.img image, you can try to flash it in the phone with SP Flash Tool,
Here is the tutorial:

arcristi..all I can say is : THANK YOU!
I finally managed to get the system files back, I'm gonna hang on to this program just in case....Thanks again
A101 Android
Please, can you here to give all system files, which were sent to you from retailer? I have the same model. Thanks!
I have softbricked my phone and can only enter fastboot bootloader and recovery mode (htc) I have found the stock rom that I wan't to back up to and have downloaded it, but since I fastboot flashed my twrp recovery onto the phone,
I can't find any twrp root folder to put my downloaded backup into, therefore I am trying to make the folders for TWRP to recognise,
SO if anyone could spare a second to show me their twrp recovery starting from sd card location down to the numbers (apparently their are numbers in the back up folder or something) all the way down till you get to the actuall zip file. It will be greatly appreciated, please take CAPS into consideration.
i.e: TWRP>BACKUPS>90182312932>HTDF>the file goes here
Also, if I am being a huge noob and there is a straightforward way to put a backup file into TWRP on my phone, please tell me.
So I've made a user backup from the stock recovery mode on Android, everytime I restore the backup my phone starts to main screen and then reboots thus creating a bootloop. So, I guess there are some files that corrupts the boot process in a way but I had a lot of information that I won't like to have lost. It is possible to extract information from this file just to get the important bits?
P.S.: the backup file extension is .backup. So far I've seen some tools who are able to open just .img backups and at this point I just got confused on this backup thing. My phone is a Motorola XT914 on stock Android 4.1.2
shameless bump
Hello! I need some genius to find solution for my problem , my phone (Intex Aqua i-5) doesn't recognize any SIM Card and my IMEI is empty. The problem occurred when I flashed wrong recovery, somehow I got it working again by removing battery for 15 minutes, and holding power key for a minute before that, then flashed proper CWM recovery again via MobileUncle Tool., but now phone doesn't charge when its turned off, and doesn't recognize SIM. Everything else works fine.
This is IMPORTANT: Cant recover IMEI via PC (my usb port is broken (charging part is working but cant connect to PC, pins for data transfer are damaged). So IT'S NOT AN OPTION. But can transfer files from PC to Phone - Wifi transfer.
Need to recover IMEI trough phone! (there is numerous methods I've tried, gonna list them below)
- Engineer mode, - CDS info, Radio info, AT COMMAND - AT+EGMR=1,7,"1234567890XXX15" (tried variations with empty space before AT or before + , not working, gives me an error "AT command failed at sent ".
- Tried to generate original IMEI on the computer, write it to MP0B_001 file, transfer to phone, set permissions for it, transfer it to data/nvram/md/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI and replace file at destination with custom one (tried variations: all this but at the and making IMEI backup with MobileUncle Tools and restoring it, also tried different MP0B_001 generators, different permissions, tried deleting original file in NVD_IMEI folder first, then copying new one, etc). --- NO SUCCESS.
- Tried MTK65xx apk software for changing IMEI , NO SUCCESS. - got error msg: "pttycmd1 device NOT found!"
- Installing terminal emulator , writing for SIM 1 line of code: echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,7, “IMEI_NUMBER” ‘ >/dev/pttycmd1 and for SIM 2 this line: echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,10, “IMEI_NUMBER” ‘ >/dev/pttycmd1 - nothing happens , even after reboot..
I'm not allowed to post links for methods above, cause this is my first thread .
My phone is rooted, there is custom ROM on it. (MIUI V5 FOR INTEX AQUA I-5 ). And CWM recovery for this ROM.
Have backup of my STOCK ROM, but couldn't restore it via CWM, It is corrupted or something, but have original folders in it , NVRAM folder for example. (tried coping and flashing MP0B_001 from that folder to phone, but nothing).
Any other ideas guys?
Unless you find what file you need to overwrite. There is not much help any one can offer as editing the IMEI is illegal in many places so that the only approved way is restoring a backup with is hard to do in your case without a pc connection as those files will need to be flashed.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'm just looking the way to restore or flash my origina IMEI , which is written under my battery, or from my probably damaged backup. Pretty sure restoring original IMEI is not illegal and I'm aware that those files need to be flashed, but maybe someone knows how to flash it without usb connection, with CWM, MobileUncle etc..

It depends on the country and the laws. If you already know it needs to be flashed then all you have to do is get the files from the backup (hope it's not coruppted) and then make a zip to flash in recovery. There is not alot of development done with that chip set here so I am out of ideas.
Figured out why my nandorid backup cant be restored, and gives an error "error while flashing boot image". When I made a backup there was no boot.img file in it. (as you cant see below in log file) So I added a file from only stock rom found on the net (that stock Is not made for cwm and cant be flashed via cwm, just via SP Flash Too so I cannot use it). but my logic was that I can borrow missing boot.img and put it in my backup folder). So obviously its not solution.

But after this there is no boot.img at all in backed up files as you can see.

Why I dont have file boot.img in my backup and how can i fix it? :/
Someone said that I make another backup via cwm and keep just boot.img in it, then copy my old files in that new created folder , but i doubt it will work cause Im on custom ROM now (MIUI) and i want to restore stock (Andorid 4.2.1).
I started another thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/stock-rom-intex-aqua-5-t3007603 in hope someone will upload stock ROM for my phone that is flashable with cwm.
