Xperia mini Pro contacts list transfer issues - General Questions and Answers

I transferred my backups (including contacts list) from my phone to my PC via PC COMPANION software.
Since i flashed my phone I have been trying to reinstall my contacts list from my PC to my SDCARD on my phone, but i could only retreive 5 of my contacts.
I retreive all my mail messages with numbers but no names.
Can anyone please help as my contacts list is so important to me
and i only have it installed on my pc

it's an android phone, it uses google, why don't just use your google account for your contacts and then you will never have this problem again.
Of course, you could do the unthinkable and actually input all of you contacts from your PC into your phone using your fingers.

ok ur right i managed to retreive it through my google account.
For the life of me I don't know how it got there as i cant remember choosing to save my contacts in my google account. I Just used the backup and restore to backup and hoped i could just as easily restore.
Anyway now I am using a pice of software called MY PHONE EXPLORER which easily enables me to save all my contacts etc to and from my PC

NAW, sometimes it will auto save to your google account also. My current phone always ask me each time but some phones and ROMS have just saved to google also without asking. Glad you got it worked out

Hey this is my post no going off the subject please

Ok have any of you smart Arses managed to partition your Xperia x10 Mini Pro (u20i) successfully.
If so can you tell me exactly how in exact detail.

New contac save into?!

Hi,
Im using a Samsung I9000 and when Im saving a new contact the phone always asks where it have to be saved:
Phone
Sim Card
gmail account
youtube account
Im few new to android and I tough every contact on my phone is also on my gamil account is this right?
When Im selecting phone will this contac be synced with gmail or not?
Actually, you can choose to save your contact in one of several different "places". For instance, if you use Gmail for contact management, you would save your contacts to Google contact type.
However, there are many other information management applications and sites. Many people use Outlook or another computer based PIM application, and use that to sync contacts to the phone. These would be put in the Phone contact type.
Since you are using a GSM based phone, you can also save new contacts as a SIM contact type. Note that SIM contact types have some limitations compared to the others as far as how many phone numbers, email addresses, etc. can be saved per contact.
You say you are new to Android, but is this your first smart phone? In other words, how did you get your contacts on the phone in the first place, or are you just adding them now?
If this is your first smart phone and you are just adding the contacts, as long as you are ok with Google having all that information, then save them as a Google contact type. The point of that is so if you loose your phone, or it is damaged or otherwise, you still have the data backed up and can get it to another phone. In fact, if you are using Gmail to manage your contacts, just log into Gmail on a computer and enter all the contacts that way. It will be easier and faster and they will sync to your phone automatically.
Hi,
thank you very very much you helped me a lot!!!
This isnt my fist smart phon, before I had many many WM Phones and synced with outlook which I would prefer but as I bought my i9000 they told me it wont work and I ve to transfer my contacts to google to get them synced...
I think Ill switch back from that because I dont like to hafe google my contacs and if it works with outlook its much easier for me!
Thanks a lot

How to completely backup data and apps on your sensation?

Can someone point me in the direction of a guide, or list a way to completely backup my sensation.
Say I wiped my phone and I need it back as it was, the apps I have on the phone are, app2sd, app backup & restore, Titanium backup Pro, ext4 backup.
also, how do I backup my contacts online?
Hi
Concerning your contacts, when you do the quick-configuration process at the phone start, your contacts are restored on your phone, check that your contacts are "Google" contacts not phone contacts, because they're linked with your google account.
With titanium (root required) you can restore all your apps with data (settings and savegames for example).

Google has integrated contacts with android very well. I suggest not to use any other applications to backup your contacts just leave it on android.
It is little difficult in starting but then it will make your life lot easy
Just open Gmail in your pc browser then all your contacts you can import to gmail by your pc. edit first name and numbers as you like...... here we go your all contacts are saved to google accout for lifetime whenever you flash new rom or get new android phone first time when you login in to your google accout in phone all contact will be syn. within 30 seconds.

That's right! You can merge your contacts, they doesnt have to be "gmail" contacts or anything, you can simply change the "contact type" when you edit a contact then make it "Google" on your android phone

Alot of contacts equals alot of editing, eh?
Lucky me, I only have "regular" contacts and export the lot to the sd-card.
Stupid or paranoid, you decide, but I want to be in total control of
who/what that can have access all my data, don't want to Googlefy to simplify.
But good to know the above tips'n'tricks if my mental state changes
I have uploaded all my contacts onto googlemail.
But I have a few duplicates, is there a way to only show the googlemail contacts and not the duplicates on the phone, or sim?

Yes, with Sense 3.6 by touching the "Phonebook" on the top of your contacts lists.
Maybe with the menu button in previous versions i don't remember..

I prefer to use 4ext recovery backup. You will have a nandroid backup of your whole phone. incl. your installed apps, contacts, etc. In case of a wipe you can easily restore the backup and your phone will be in the same state as it was. It is a good idea to do a nandroid backup before any change on the phone

And my way is the senior-citizen way, but IMO the BEST way
I use mybackup pro to backup apk+data at the same time.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
go to your gmail account, go to your contacts, delete the duplicate contacts, I had the same issue a while back, this fixed it. ENJOY!

Just download Titanium Backup, go to applist, Press "Menu" Then Batch and choose backup of everything.

I have the same problem and have solved it by backing up my contacts on both my phone and my google account and then restoring them after booting the new ROM. I also use the backup with the contact program and I use GO launcher as my "menu manager". I use the GO Backup tool as a third level of backup. Any other method from anyone else would be useful as it is bit of a messy solution. BUT it does stop me losing contacts. I have also used the Microsoft Outlook tool as yet another backup when I sync. Can't have too many backups when the gremlins are out get your contact list.
Anyone?

[Q] Complete Contact Backup

I've been looking around for this, and have used the search tool. Unfortunately i havent found an adequate answer, so many someone can help me. To begin this post, i am using a phone i purchased off a friend. He has contacts in the phone that i also use, and are not backed up anywhere. I have many contacts, and instead of only selecting a few that i use, i'd rather have them all backed up. The problem is, under my Phonebook (Using an HTC Droid DNA) i have contacts from many locations. Twitter, SIM, Outlook, Hotmail, Google, Phone, Facebook, and another Hotmail. 2600 exactly. I'd like to have them all saved under one location. If i cannot migrate them, thats fine. WIth using a new ROM, all the contacts fail to reload.
So what i am looking for is a few things, and possibly a way to migrate them all. When using multiple apps, only about 700 backup. I do not know which contacts are backed up, and that is my problem. When using a new ROM, i seem to lose the Phone contacts, because with all the other accounts, i can log back in and have them restore.
Is there an app that lets me choose individual contacts to back up as well as selecting them all?
Phone - HTC Droid DNA - Stock ROM
If you guys need other information, i am glad to give it. Thanks.
The problem is that those contacts from other services are not technically saved onto your phone, which is why they are showing up from different locations. You can always use a Cellebrite machine to backup all the contacts on your phone. This is the same device used by cell phone stores to transfer contacts to new devices. Another alternative is that you can try syncing your contacts with Google, which should store all of your phone's contacts onto your google account, eliminating the need to backup your contacts.

Data transfer issue on LG V50 Verizon

Dear all,
I'm being a very long user of LG V series from V10, recently I have changed 4th my LG V50 due to breakage of those phones and etc. Usually data transfer were accomplished very simple way thru either LG app or recently just thru the google itself past 2 LG v50 phones had no problem, all the data were transfered such as sms/contacts/apps/dial history and etc. Until now, I have did all the same, but instead of over 4k contacts it did transferred only 2.5k including missing sms from those contacts and etc. Problem is I have realized it a bit late, and due to nature of my business / my phone is my life. So I have new sms and contacts. Question what options do I have ??
1) I'm thinking simple one is obviously to try re do the entire transfer
2) I need some app or whatever I can do to combine old contacts and sms with new ones ???
3) What would be a best application to manage contacts??
PS Forgot to mention that I have 4 different email accounts that those contacts are spread between them - I wanna unite them into one email account. And I'll answer NO I always log in all my emails prior to data transfer and etc.

For contacts, the Gmail account. But be sure you sync them manually and verify on desktop mode that all contacts are stored in that Gmail account.
For sms try a dedicated app or maybe main lg software.

Thank you for response, what do you mean by manually sync them ?? Press sync button on the older phone ?? If so than I did it, and what it means to verify on the desktop mode?? I'd love to manually sort them out one by one since I have bunch of them in double or triple or missing some details like emails or phones and etc.
I have tried LG software but apparently I'm doing something wrong its not recognizing the LG V50......please help me. Thank you
PS on my PC (win10) LG suite asking to install LG air drive on cellphone but there is no such app, instead I have updated or installed LG data SENDER app. but still nothing......
Manually sync them when uploading to Google account, verify that all of them are copied via desktop login, after that login into new phone and let them sync.
Or use built in app when restoring
