Okay, I have a Droid X, I rooted with z4, got kouch's bootstrapper and running 928s theme. I am lost on this entire process of switching programs. Im suppose to be deoxed by the 928 theme, but dunno if I am. I guess I need help picking a new theme and figuring out how to do it from where I am now.
If you successfully loaded a new theme then you are definitely deodexed now.

Or just use root explorer, got to system, then apps and see if there are any deoex files. If not, you are fine.

Well you would probably want to flash back over your original rom and then the new theme. Its not necessary but some themes theme more stuff then other and you might get some mixing. Wiping dalvik helps also but is also not necessary.
For instance some times theming goes into other app like facebook but your new theme my not if you then flashed the new theme the face book them would still be there. Sometimes this can produce nice results and sometime not so much.
Thanks for the help I appreciate it didn't wanta do it with out at least checking the forums first

I updated to the 2.3.15 deodexed froyo from black hat yesterday. I've been running the DX serenity theme since before that, but i just read that you cannot run themes without being deodexed. My confusion comes from the fact that i just checked my system/framework folder and there are a bunch of .odex files in there. Do i need to deodex still? If so, what is the best/easiest way to go about this? I love my droid x, but it seems that everything was much simpler on my original moto droid *sigh*.... any enlightenment anyone could offer me would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

928droid just released an install that will deodex your device automatically

Blackdroid right? Guess i'll give that a shot tonight. I can always put my serenity back on after. If anyone else has any more info or suggestions please feel free toss them my way.

that happened to me too when using the blackhat app, try the file located here and try formatting the system like they say

I am really ready for a different boot animation and sound (or silence). I searched and found a few resources in other forums like THIS but don't know if any Android animation or maybe any Samsung Android animation will work on the Charge.
I am running ep4d rooted, deodexed, stock kernel.......any advice?
Thanks in advance
I have used rom toolbox from the market that has a ton of boot animations. I also found this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103166&highlight=stop+boot+sound
It was easy on stock rom , use root explorer like it said go into etc and edit sound but on what Im running now it isnt there oh well.

Could you use root explorer to add an .oog audio file in the sub folder and name it something?Or go into system/bin. Open the boot animation file with the correct program and ad a line to lead to the audio file? I know really in depth but an idea. Might also have to link to framework which is to much trouble for me atleast as I dont have that kind of brains.
I just tried rom toolbox and it hasn't changed anything. I can change font but bootanimations haven't changed

I know it worked for funny charged ans and humble 4 but not five it might have something to do with the firmware meaning 2.3.5 or. 6 might be uncompatwble just my thought

Try here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/5561-boot-animation-huge-collection-of-boot-animations-updated-11-04-11/
Download the cwm files and extract the bootanimation.zip file from it and enjoy.

Sorry for asking, but i am unsure of superoneclick, since i have never used it. I'm just wondering if it will permantly affect the bootloader or anything (im going to search after this post)

Lol ....
Sorry again folks. I meant by reflashing my stock rom (from here in canada), it goes back into a unrooted "firmware" phase without superuser. Therefore, i cannot use titanium backup since there is no superuser. I could still use nvflash to flash another rom, but couldnt get nova out of the rom!
I got it by flashing the file for 2.3.3 from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214
(took a leap of faith on 2.2.2). Anyways got it working.
Thanks for trying to decode my original post though
I've read it about 3 times, with no luck to figuring this out. You are rooted and running cyanogen but want to know how to root and get 2.2 stock applications?

Just a quick question, that flazhable package doesn't affect the bootloader like superoneclick correct?
I'm brand new to the SIII, switched from a Rezound yesterday. I'm rooted, unlocked and running CleanRom. I know others have gotten Google Now to work but I'm at a loss for device specific install instruction! This is what I did and had no luck, kept getting force closes and black screens: downloaded the m7_velvet.apk to extsd....rename as 'GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk.....replace in /system/ app....change the permissions to read,write,execute/read,execute/read,execute....rebooted. Any help would be awesome!!

Download the flashable zip of your choice for the ARMv7. I recommend the online only version. Then flash it in cwm.

Dont know what post I was reading that was telling me to just install the apk, but what I was trying to install earlier was now obviously just the update apk. Works fine now, thanks!!
I just installed it today. I think it's a little silly that the back button doesn't work to exit the app. Others having issues with that?

Very true, not going to complain too much and all I had to do was drop a few files. I renamed all the other folders/files it was supposed to overwrite so all is good, didn't need to take a nandroid or anything. Pretty nifty feature to have and takes stock rooted one step closer to JB.
