[Q] Modify default SMS/MMS App? - Droid X Themes and Apps

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to change the color of the conversation bubbles in the X's default sms app as well as making the background black instead of white. Any help on if this has already been done would be greatly appreciated. I really wanna avoid Handcent or Chomp etc if possible. Thanks in advance everyone!!!

Black Out for Fission already contains a copy of a blacked out Mms app that you could probably take from the update.zip and push to your /system/app folder. It depends on what ROM you're running, etc.

I am currently running Rubix Blurry.... I am assuming I will need to be on a blurless ROM for this to work? Possible screenshot of MMS app in all its black glory?

If you simply take the Mms.apk from my update.zip installer for the theme, and don't install the theme itself, you should probably be fine regardless of Blurry or non-blurry. However, I'm not sure if in Blurry it uses the DX Mms apk or the Android one. So, after installing, it might not work but I think it probably would. I'd definitely do a backup before I try. I've actually themed Google Talk, Gmail, and Google Voice to be black as well with more to come. I'll give you a screenshot of what Mms looks like:

The theme itself is only meant for Fission. But, if all you do is take that one apk and push it to /system/apps.. i imagine you'd be fine. Like i said before, I'd definitely do a backup before I try.

I've done this many times, and can confirm it does work.

Awesome! Thank you! I def will be giving this a shot. I may just go ahead and install Fission then just apply the whole Blackout theme. I've read lots of good things. Question, Why is it so important to Do an SBF before applying Fission? Other Blurless ROMs really never mentioned SBF before applying?

You don't have to SBF.. but it's recommended. It's always recommended, no matter what ROM. Just to make sure you get the cleanest install possible.

[APP/THEME] NexDialerONE

This is a app that is in the market called DialerOne which m_kaswell had asked if I could make match my NexTHEME,you can find the theme in the theme section. I will keep the app updated and also may tweak things as needed. Enjoy!!!

Love it, have been missing this kind of dialer from my BB.
This looks fantastic!
I have two (seemingly) simple requests:
1) Could you make it so that the buttons are green (the green that matches NexTheme) instead of blue?
and
2) Is it possible to have you theme the app icon to match the dial icon in your screenshots (the default phone icon in NexTheme)?
Thanks!!
Edit: if you could make this into a Morph for me that would be even better. That way, I could just apply it over the app if you were to update it later on
I am going to have a few versions of this dialer soon.
!!
Nice homie....very nice, great job man!

Yeah, you can't because it will mess up the signing.
i was actually using the DialerOne before and it is amazing;
now, i uninstalled that one, and installed this version on Cyan's 5.0.5.3 with NexTheme; i am having an issue with it; so when i installed it and open it, i get the What's New page, which shows the changelog; then i fix the settings the way i like it; now, if i were to put the phone to sleep and come back to the app, i get the What's New page again and the settings are reset to default
it's getting annoying that whenever i want to use the phone, i have to see the What's New page and configure the settings
aNYONE else having this issue?
EDIT: figured it out; seems like that if i use Advanced Task Killer or any other app killer, i have to set the dialer one to the exclude list; otherwise, it resets to default; never had this issue on the other Dialer One app; is there a fix for this?
Edit 2: I got it fixed, installed and reboot, then reinstalled

I thought they made the Morphs specifically so you don't have to re-sign anything... just replace the images?
deleted post.
Very Nice. There's an update in the market. Should we wait until you update, or can we update and reapply the theme?

[THEME]BlueMod for CM 5.0.6 - N1 and Droid

Like the stock normal look and feel of Android, but don't much care for orange? Well, here's a blue alternative. Check out the screenshots below.
It's a metamorph, so apply accordingly. I expect you to know how to use Metamorph. Search around on XDA or Google if you need to learn it.
This is a flash-over theme. It will only work and look right if you apply it over the stock Cyanogenmod rom as only the images/files that need to be changed from orange to blue are modified. If you have a theme already, flash your current Cyanogenmod rom from recovery first before applying this metamorph.
This has been tested on both the Droid and the Nexus One each with Cyanogen's latest roms (5.0.6.2). It should work for future versions as well.
Apps not yet themed (will still have some orange bits):
Market
Youtube
Gmail
Facebook
any other market app...
I haven't decided if I want to include these in the theme since I'd have to modify and re-sign the full APKs. Also, if I did that there wouldn't be any updates. Market and Youtube shouldn't be a prolem, and I plan on including those.
I also want to say thank you to the following people:
@Stericson for his awesome work on metamorph and making it all possible.
@Cyanogen for the awesome work on the ROMs.
@PhaseBurn and @iShawnW for helping test things with this theme.
* Everyone who's posted on XDA with bits of knowledge especially the Ultimate Android Theming Guide (Jairomeo, Manup456, ArmyRanger251, Stericson, Brandenk, SirMez, Beagz, david1171_) and many others.
Please provide feedback and post any issues it might have here.
Edit: a version for CM 5.0.7-test(x) for Dream/Magic is coming soon too as soon as I build the morph.

Awesome dude. thanks. looks awesome.
Except... that it doesn't work. applied fine, but didn't do anything.
Really? Can anyone else confirm? It was working fine for me and 2 others.
If anyone else has a problem with it not applying I'll look into it and see if maybe the zip I uploaded is bad...

Looks epic, anyway I can get one thats not a metamorph so I can just apply it over my current theme? That would make it awesome
I might be persuaded to do an update.zip method.

Looks good, running with no problems. Love the blue!
Looks good, ran in to 1 problem so far. After it was applied and restarted, I was able to use the camera app, but then when I try to use it again it just goes to a black screen.
Odd.
Did you reboot again after having the issue?
Try killing the camera process with a task manager and opening it again.
Try wiping the dalvik-cache and restarting.
If the issue is persistant Pm me with a logcat while opening camera and I'll see what I can determine.

[Stock Theme]Stock Rosie Theme for Fresh 2.3.3

This is a stock Rosie them for fresh 2.3.3, it includes menu+menu unlock feature. I will post a menu+menu unlock remover zip later if you want to remove this.
This has been png optimized just like the rosie/framework/resources/lockscreen found in stock fresh 2.3.3
Enjoy!
http://www.4shared.com/file/PUDOl9co/FreshRosieOpt.html
Remember folks, this will remove any themeing you have applied to your rom, as it replaces Rosie.apk, framework-res.apk, com.htc.resources.apk, htclockscreen.apk!!
EDIT: Please nandroid first, on my 7th Disaronno
Thank you!!!
I must have somehow done this correctly despite intoxication, I see there are 12 downloads and no negative posts!
dude this worked great!
what is the stock rosie theme? sorry i've never known this so i might as well ask
The stock theme is the one that comes in the RUU's from sprint/HTC.
The launcher at the bottom looks like this.(well similar, this looks like an android 1.5 screenshot, but you get the idea)

Flipz uses the espresso launcher, similar but a little different, looks like this
What I don't like about espresso is it has no page indicator. Other than that, I actually like it better.
I can't stand espresso! I tried fixing it myself but I couldn't -- so I'm really glad you've cooked this up.
Thanks man.
cool thanks for the clarification
Im sure this is a longshot but would anyone be willing to change the green in the stock rosie to blue? Ive been trying to do it myself by porting in another themes files but so far Ive only got the battery and market changed properly.
Id be willing to make a small donation for this to the person who gets it done.
Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo much for making this. I love Freshhhhh's roms but the rosie has always bugged the hell out of me. not saying the one that it comes with is bad. I like the page marker on stock + just like the look of it too. Thanks Again for building this flash.

me too, and I would throw my hero off a cliff if it wasn't for menu+menu unlock =P Something about the touchscreen unlock sets off some kind of necrotic OCD thing in me, I can't handle it
Is there a step by step guide on how to create themes for certain roms and Android in general. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
you got that "menu+menu unlock remover zip" sitting around anywhere ?

Black Gtalk and GVoice - now available in JARubix 10/28

Ok, this took a lot of work ( at least GTalk did )
I was only able to make this work by reviewing and wonderful work already done by "thebowers" for the "Black N Bold" theme.
This will be released with the new JAR custom update which is being worked on now and offically being ported to Rubix, as Fussion will no longer be supported on the DX.

Excellent! I am a rubiX fan. So - looking forward to it.
Will these work on OTA?
You will need to have root to install GTalk, cause its a system app, but yea they should both work on OTA or any 2.2 build..
Looks awesome, can't wait to see it finalized so I can toss it into my customized TranQ 3.0 build I'm working on.
Sweet. A fine addition to my blacked out DX.
Will the GVoice widget be themed aswell?

No, it is not. I did not want to completely theme Gvoice just release a black version
BTW this is out now. You can find it as part of the JARubix custom update over in the developer section.

where is the update.zip of the files? Cant seem to find
An issue with black Gtalk - not a big one - no mobile indicators shown. The reason looks to be droid_watermark.png - it doesn't show up on black background at all. I'll try to do something with it.
[edit] Ok, did something about it. The files are:
droid_watermark.png
im_contact_icon_android_light.png
im_contact_icon_mobile_light.png
Changed the base color from black to white, left transparency (alpha) the same.
Works wonders.
APK attached.
Please update, for those that miss the feature that was gone:
adb push TalkMod_Mod.apk /system/app/Talk.apk

[ROM] DI14 Blues ROM

With a little work and permission from jabbawalkee I have ported parts of the MattedBlues theme into this ROM. The original MattedBlues can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768848
I would also like to add a thanks and credit to nitsuj17 for some of the images and the dialer. At the time of my original post, I was unaware that some of the pieces I was using were his.
This is in beta as I have not yet gotten everything in it that I want, but it's a good start and usable. As usual take a nandroid backup before you flash anything. I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone while flashing any of this content. That being said, I have had no problems with any of it. It uses all of the dependencies so all of the stock apps should work and anything that has been removed can be added from the Pick-n-Pack ROM.
Here are a few screen shots. They are low res, so the dock icons look especially fuzzy.

I probably should have explained a little more. I only decided to deem it a ROM because I left the apk's in tact. Since it installs apk's and not just the drawables and xml's I couldn't call it a theme. I will probably start a pull on all of that stuff so I can put it out as a theme also, but I have several others I'm working on right now so this was the easier for me. Kinda lazy I know, but if the permissions come in I want to be able to get them put out for the variety for now.
--EDIT
OK, I took the time, not as long as I thought btw, to go ahead and rip out the files that need to be taken out of the ROM to make a theme only version. I will post it in the themes and apps section as soon as it finishes uploading.
