You can get a 1800mAh battery for HTC TouchPro2/Evo (that is the same battery) for less... and not from Mugen. But you have to take the RED ones.
I've got one of them and my battery life is really impressive.

Same here, plus you can get two of them for around 30 bucks. Between underclocking down to 245 when the screen is off and the battery, I get a ridiculous amount of battery life.
Damn 44.95 is indeed too much $$$. I would pay that kind of money for minimum a 2200mah one

Single and kit links above - all you need is a nail clipper to clip off some of the black plastic so the battery sits flush in the phone. I also removed the red label on one side (it just peals off). Some have said that it fits without any mods though. Im still in the testing phase of my read chictech. Before power cycling it the battery life was terrible, now that Ive cycled it Im seeing better battery life then stock OEM. I unplugged @ 7AM and I have 65% battery life left on Virtuous 0.70 with moderate to heavy usage throughout the day. HSPA+ on full time, WIFI on full time....see for yourself, I think the singles are only 15$, thats what I got.

Ha! Thanks for the idea! I just pulled my TP2 battery and clipped off the tab and now have an extra 200 mAh for free. Might give me an extra hour or two of battery life. I don't know about those 1800mAh batteries though.... if the 1500mAh has a tough time fitting (closing the battery door), how bad will the 1800mAh be? Might require an extended battery door...

Hello everyone!
I've spent the past week doing as much research as possible into what type of battery to buy for my G2 and i've come across alot of information to say the least. Alot of opinions, alot of useless data, and some useful data. I just wanted to summarize this info for everyone. And add any new information that people post in the thread below, including battery life data.
Popular Batteries:
- The Mugen 1800mAh - $45 (1400mAh in testing)
- The Senido 1750mAh - $50 (1400mAh in testing)
- The HTC 1500mAh 35H00123-11M (-00M).. Also known as the TP2/EVO battery - $7 (1500mAh in testing)
- The CHICHITEC 1800mAh - $20/each or $40 for 2 + Charger (untested)
Research:
- Mugen and Seido seem to have EXTREMELY inconsistent mAh ratings, HTC seems to be the most consistent.
- On the other hand, trying to compare these battery assuming constant maximum power draw is a little unfair.
The one thing that seems constant is that HTC's battery's perform as expected in every environment and over time, whereas the third partys seem to be able to pull values closer (somewhat) to what they advertise under certain conditions. Not to mention that we have no knowledge regarding the long-term affects of the 'tuning' that these third party companies have done.
We gotta realize that most battery's are using the same cell or the same knock-off cell, and we can't really expect to much of an increase in mAh in this battery form-factor.
Installation Issues:
A lot of these battery's will need to be modified to fit our phones in one way or another as they're meant for the EVO 4G/Incredible/TP2/MyTouch3gSlide/CDMAHero.. Even the ones that are labeled as "G2 Compatible" might not be as a lot of the 'higher capacity' cells have identical dimensions.
Removing the Wrapper around the battery might assist with door bulge
If you feel like you have to aggressively 'wedge' the battery in then you might want to remove/modify the little nub's at the bottom of the battery near the contacts using nail clippers/dremel/knife. Otherwise you run the risk of damaging the cell-side charging contacts.
Some of the hardcore guys in here have sanded down the battery to have a good fit
The 'fit' differs from phone to phone depending both on the dimensions of each specific battery (not the actual brand or company, but each individual battery seems to be a little bit different) and the G2 Door.
If you leave the door bulging indefinitely it might damage the door in some way, it's recommended that you remove the door and just use a case if it's a major problem for you.
Tips:
- After installing the new battery, remember to reset the battery calibration through your recovery. This affects how many times you feel the need to "cycle it through" before achieving optimal battery life.
- Don't believe the temperature sensor on 3rd Party batteries
- Individual "Before and After" stories are cool, but not that useful considering all the variables involved with the hardware, the radio & signal, the software, and the human being (placebo affect). Aggregating all the data together does give us some picture of whats going on.
- The best tell for battery quality is the weight of the battery compared to your stock one, although this is not a guaranteed method.
Conclusion
After reading through as many threads as I could find regarding this topic, It seems that the CHICHITEC batteries have come to be the most popular across all these HTC phones. While the 1500mAh HTC EVO battery seems like the best deal with the most consistent power output.
The average perceived benefit using these batteries seems to be between 30-20%.

Thanks, this really is usefull and spares us who are still trying to figure out wich battery they want, alot of time!
For CHICHITEC 1800mAh battery, is it safe to shave off the piece allowing the battery to be a perfect fit? Such as trying to use a nail clipper and clip it off.
Very good work on compiling all this information.
All I wanted to do was add my experience. I went out on a limb and bought the 2000mAh batteries from Galilio.
I took the wrapper off and trimmed the tabs and have been using them for about 3 months now.
My battery door does have a slight bulge to it but I can live with it.
The other day I decided to go back to my factory battery because I now have a charger by my bed, one in my truck and one at work. I have to say, I am spoiled now. My G2 is loaded up and running like crazy and my factory battery lasted like 2 hours where my Galilio battery goes for about 9 to 10 hours.
I text ALOT and facebook runs all day, I use the navigation on a daily basis and play tons of games.
Hope my 2 cents helped.

Add the DX batteries.
This is an age old topic I know, but was browsing the HTC sensation and sgs 2 forums.
When reading I can across an extended battery making called anker, reviews have been very positive for both phones.
Anyway to cut the story short I emailed anker and they do an extended battery for the HTC desire they provided me with link on amazon.
The title says for inspire and desire hd.
Here's the link

So I'm thinking of getting a new battery for it, maybe this is something?

I agree! Unfortunately it just looks too.... wrong! Granted it might be great for people who can't charge often but I find my phone lasts at a minimum one day with normal usage and possibly 2 if I forget to charge it and don't use it much other than texting and say 30 mins of calls.
You would also need a modified case for it as well and I definitely need one of those as I seem to have a problem with dropping expensive things and my desire has been saved a few times from chips / bumps! by using a rubber case holder!
Is there any external battery for Desire which seemlesly blends with the phone like some iPhone external battery, which looks like a normal silicon cover?

I doubt it very much but in the end it would probably just be easier to get a second battery and pop the cover and swap it out its not that hard but I guess you have to carry it around with you
I would like to warn you for some of these (cheap) batteries. I got one from ebay for one of my previous phones (nokia) and the battery just melted when charging. My phone was ok, but I don't think it was a very safe/healthy situation

2450mAh HIGH Capacity Gold BUSINESS Replacement Battery for HTC DESIRE

Do you have experiences with the gold 2450mAh battery?
Does it really lasts longer then stock battery?
You can save your money, I bought this 1600mAh battery but even after 5 cycles and batt stats wipe it's just ****.
It just performs @75% of the stock battery.
Good for spare, but reusing the stock battery now..

Yes I get a lot longer out of the extended gold battery, but I'm running the Runnymede 3.0.4 AIO rom and that suffers from heavy battery drain but this battery lasts all day now, I just need a wall charger and a second battery and I'm all good
I only believe in original batteries

I have one of those. Some apps or the OS see it as 780mAh, I didn't do much testing to find the real truth, but the actual battery is smaller in size than the stock one (maybe 1350-1500 max), has a cheaper and stupider controller (no voltage, no temperature) and it will decay faster than an original SANYO battery (it will be worse than your current battery is now in about a year with similar usage).
Ask yourself, what would you want to have in your pocket when your main battery discharges completely:
- 5 euro banknote
- 5 euro replacement battery with at least half charge
You get what you pay for.
Cameron Sino 2400mAh..with a bit of kernel tweaks, it lasts 1.5 days...good enough for my needs.
I guess you all need to check this review. It's a hands-on review with a lot of data on how much time Mugen 3200mAh battery adds etc.
In my opinion only original or Mugen batteries
i think the original battery is the best battery i had an battery from ebay from Polarcell the battery was terrible its not good has anyone a good alternative battery found

did somebody trie it ?
I got a new battery, extended battery to be precise, from Amazon. I felt it was a good deal $12.99 + Free Shipping and ordered it. I got it in 3 days after placing order.
First battery observations:
Anker 2800mAh Extended Battery and Back Door for Samsung Infuse 4G, I997 - White [With a Free Card Reader]
I was kinda skeptical on how it would fare.
I popped the battery in my phone, put it on charge to 100%. And took it off.
After about 24 hours off the charger, here are the stats:
1. Standby: ~24 hours
2. Display: ~2 hours
3. Calls: ~2 hours
4. GPS: ~15 minutes
5. Brightness: 50% of time on auto, rest of the time at ~12%
Current battery level: ~52%
I will update this post with new observations when the battery comes down to 5%.
Note: This is still the first cycle since I got the battery. I think battery life will increase slightly after a couple of cycles.
============================================================
Second battery observations:
GTMax High Capacity Extended Replacement Battery (3500mAh) observations
Observations at ~50%
Observations at ~50%
Observations at ~2%
Observations at ~2%
Standby: 1 day 23 hours 8 mins 8 secs
Voice calls: 2 hours 32 mins 18 secs
Display on: 6 hours 8 mins 4 secs
Display was at 12% for ~1 hour of display, and rest of the time in auto.
Note: There are some minor "ups" in the graph. Looks like battery is setting itself now. See the charging component below, its not on charge the whole of the time. Maybe once the battery calibrates itself, it will all flatten out. Also note that this this the first discharge cycle of this battery.
I got the 2 pack of 1800mah batteries and they get an average if 17-19 hours of usage, they're great in my opinion. I wish they had this option when I was looking for batteries. Is it a Sim battery or does it need a new back plate?

I've had this one for quite some time. Real good battery. Downsides are the lack of case. Since I rooted and loaded the Zeus rom, battery life has improved dramatically. So the extended battery is less of a need for me. I get over 12 hours on a single charge easily. Someday I'll have to pop this puppy back in and get some numbers to post.

don't let the battery charging over night . about a 3 hr and 30 mins to 4 hr will do.
i have a 1500 mA battery . it last me about a 1 with heavy use .( temple run , music , pandora , gps , text , photos , and reading )
Never try to let you batteries run completely dead. This will shorten the life of Li-Ion batteries. And feel free to let your batteries charge over night. When the battery gets charged fully the charging will stop or slow as needed. They will not overcharge. The charging systems of phones have their own regulation. Not sure where previous poster got his info. Guess his phone still uses NiCads.
Yet to see an extended battery for The Inspire with the custom cover. There is a battery pack that attaches to the back of the phone but I can't remember the make. There was big talk when they were released but I hear little about them now.

that i read , is not good to let the battery over charge , that has happened to me, i have let it over charge overnight , after that the battery life gets reduce, i have an app call current monitor , after the battery reach 4.209 V . if i let sit there charging, the voltage starts to go down . ( maybe is the app)
with a 3 hour charge , i get about a day use out of the cell phone . letting the battery died the first three time you put it in the phone , i was told by th rep of the company that sold me the item , like i said before i get pretty good battery life , even with heavy use , now that temple run is in android . even more fun ..
Not that its a huge improvement over 1850 but the best I've seen for the inspire are 2000mAh, I just kept searching on ebay in 100 mAh increments until I got no results.

Sadly there are no "real" extended batteries for the inspire, they all have exaggerated
ratings, and the Powerskin is an external battery/case and I like my otterbox to much
to use it.

Has anyone tried the monoprice usb battery packs? Thinking of picking one up but need to think of some other stuff to get with it first to justify the shipping.

cool i'll have to pick one up
Be extra careful were you buy your extended life batteries from.. i ordered two and got what i paid for... they were 1850mAh which did last about 4 hours longer then the original but which one my camera didnt work... Said something to the tune of "Cannot use flash in cold weather conditions"... When i saw this for the first time i was like WTF its 80 degrees outside... then i changed batteries again and it worked... obviously something wrong in the battery.
It i probably worth spending a little more money on the battery to get better quality product.
saw this on ebay...2450mah
highest capacity ever for the HTC DESIRE HD or INSPIRE 4G
you can search on ebay for HTC DESIRE HD 2450mah...
not sure about it's performance, since it's made in china.
you are awesome

Probably not.
According to the DHD community the Mugen is the only trustworthy one, and that's at around 1650mah. The ones you see online are rarely what they claim to be.
1800 Andida good
Basically Mugen and Anker are the only good extended batteries it seems, and even then they don't seem to help much. D: I still wanna pick up an extra battery just in case for long trips, etc.
Thanks to the abysmal battery life on the MyTouch 4G Slide, I've taken to ordering extended batteries for my phone. Right now I've got these coming my way:
Hyperion Samsung i8190 Galaxy S III Mini 2 x Battery + Charger (1600mAh each)
3600mAh Extended Battery + Back Cover for Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 Black
Anyone else have extended batteries?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you've got the money, Mugen released a 3400mAh extended battery (link goes to original thread).
the 3500 battery (not good the cover)
I test for now a (2100 mah) battery
It still amazes me that battery technology is still lagging majorly behind all other tech...
That 3500 battery looks huge!
yes battery 3500, dimension (+- ) x 2.
delivery battery + new cover
3600mAh battery might be good for special occations, but not for everyday use. To big!
I got the Hyperion batteries in. So far they're lasting about 10 hours off the charger. I'm still waiting on the 3600mAh battery.
Got the 3600mAh battery in today. If you're going to order it, I suggest getting a plastic pry tool because this battery cover will be very hard to remove from the phone.

Can you upload a pic of it? Would be good to see how much bigger it makes the phone!

I'll post comparison pictures sometime before 2300 EST tonight.
By the way, Mugen doesn't have an extended battery for either our phone or the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (which uses the same battery).
Using a SD card as a basis of comparison...
Sorry about the poor lighting, but that's why I put the phone next to the card.
Certainly makes it chunky! Let us know how long you get with it.

Exactly, except I stick with the trains here in the US and each and every single one of them has an outlet to charge up electronic devices with. This battery is perfect for when I'm at work and can't always get to an outlet.
By the way, 36 hours off the charger, eased up on the use, four reboots, 24% power left.
42 hours, light usage, 20% remaining.
