I believed that many users have known about the hidden 3D gallery.
I have deleted Mediascape, so I was testing how the pictures and videos are open.
I found that video is not accessible without Mediascape.
Using Astro File Manager, I tried to open the pictures with the "Gallery" as the default viewer.
Here are what I discovered.
1. Using Titanium Backup, uninstall the system "gallery" (version 1.1.30682)
2. If uninstalling failed, search for "com.cooliris.media.apk", it is the installer for the "gallery"; uninstall it.
3. Finally, install "galleryfixedcamera.apk" get from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829571 (thanks the developer)
Now, video can be played and default image viewer and be changed to "Gallery".

Same thing for me just reinstalled the the other gallery app in the other thread and all was well.
Where you gettig the other apk sorry?
If you're stuck with no gallery, use Root Explorer or ADB to copy the GalleryFixedCamera.apk at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829571 into \system\app\Gallery3D.apk
Change permissions (User: Read, Write; Group: Read; Others: Read) and reboot
You'll see "Gallery" in the app drawer

I'm using darch's Froyo to test it out, and I like it so far. However, I don't like Gallery - takes forever to load photos.
I'm assuming that since the HTC album app is stock based on Sense, that it won't work with Froyo.
What do you guys use or recommend as a photo viewer on Froyo?
My personal favorite (other then HTC) is the Gallery 2d, yet, it is very elusive. So if you can find that, give it a shot!

Tee Jay
I spent a good amount of time searching for the 2D gallery because the 3D gallery is garbage on our phone.
I'm attaching it here in the hopes that it helps others.
I used the following to get it installed:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/Gallery.apk
adb push Gallery.apk /system/app/
adb reboot
There might be other efficient ways to get it installed, but this is what I used. Hope it helps someone!
Awesome, thanks a lot for following up on my post. I'm not going to use this right this minute because I'm on SenseUI, but when I go back to Froyo , I will certainly use it.
Thanks,
Tee Jay

This gallery doesn't work for me. Is it only for froyo? I'm running a sense-based 2.1 ROM =/

Yes, the topic was for Froyo. This gallery is designed for 2.2+ (Froyo).

THANK YOU!! I have been searching for this. Installed using ES file explorer with no problems. Any idea how to get it to connect to camera so when you press the captured image it will open this gallery? Thanks again!

Id also like to know how to get that button to work with this gallery!
Are there any good photo albums that have the same functionality as the HTC photo album (i.e being able to view photos on flickr and facebook accounts)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! The 3D version (although it looked great), was just way too slow for loading more than 10 pictures.
If I push this gallery through adb using these commands, will this remove the current gallery, and where on my sd card do I need to place this to push through adb?
Thanks.

yes it will remove 3D gallery with that command.. and you dont put the apk on your sd card to push.. put it in your androidsdk tools folder on your computer and then push...
or you could avoid all of that and just download the apk to your phone and use astro, linda file manager, or whateva you normally use to install from there..

Was searching for just this after Gallery3D kept crashing on me.
This is the 2.2 Froyo release of the 3D Gallery with the new "peak" feature, allowing you to peak into a folder/collection of images without opening it.
Process for installing:
1. Using Root Explorer or ES File Explorer (or your preferred app), move the Gallery3D.apk (or Gallery3Dm.apk) from the /system/app folder to a backup folder.
2. Delete (if you didn't move and instead copied) the old Gallery3d.apk from the /system/app folder
3. Copy and paste this new Gallery3D to the /system/app folder and rename it to Gallery3d.apk
4. You should be able to open it up from your Launcher - otherwise you'll need to tap on the Gallery3d.apk that you copied into the /system/app folder and choose to install.
Attached are 2 pics of the new Gallery, and here is a video displaying how it works

I disagree - I just checked the stock Gallery on two Evo's (non-modded or rooted) and it does not have it.
Thanks jerdog. I've been running 2 d because I just dont like 3d but this has good showoff potential.
This looks cool but what's up with the permissions? Why does it need access to my accounts
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Requirements: Any file manager like ES File Explorer or Root explorer
1. Go to /sdcard/Android/data
2. Open com.android.providers.media package
3. Open albumthumbs
4. Delete the thumbnails.
5. Start the media player (Now Thumbnail cache will be re-created from scratch).
Remember the above is applicable to Stock Android Media Player HTC and can work on other phones too.

Hello everyone ,
A few seconds ago i flashed my Lg g2 d802 with OptimusG3 V1.3.2 rom following the steps described on the post regarding this rom replacement . But now the gallery from my phone is not working any more . I get the error : Unfortunately the gallery has stopped . And when i try to open a photo directly from camera the error message is : Cannot read this type of file .
Does anyone know what is the problem of this error ?
Thanks .
Install a manual gallery app from play store. Gor example, Photos which is included with Google +. If you want stock gallery, extract the firmware file which gallery was working well. Go to system/app/ of the extracted folder and from there locate your stock gallery apk. With es file explorer, delete your gallery apk from your / system/app/ . Copy the apk you located earlier to where you deleted the gallery. Change permissions to rw-r-r. Reboot enjoy.. (you need root). Before deleting gallery make backup. Hit thanks if it worked.

Hey Guys !!
Apple music app for android has been released this week and i've installed this to try.
i really like this app but the only think i find really annoying is the song downloaded to listen offline can't be downloaded on the SDcard.
So there's how to change it.
First you need to be rooted.
you need ES files explorer and Terminal emulator app
with ES explorer go to /data/data/com.apple.android.music
Cut the folder named "no_backup"
and past it anywhere on you'r SDcard. I've choose "/storage/extSdCard/Android/"
Now open Terminal emulator.
Type "Su" to get Root acces.
And type this command "ln -sf /storage/extSdCard/Android/no_backup /data/data/com.apple.android.music/no_backup"
Now you can open apple music app and start downloading your song.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english!
Hello,
I've tried this with my HTC Desire 510 on Android 4.4.3 using ES Task Explorer to transfer over the files and then use a Terminal Emulator to create the symbolic link as to the instructions, but unfortunantely this did not work. The Apple Music app crashes everytime I open the app, and then once I've rebooted my phone the app disappeared from my Applications. If I deleted the link and transfer the files back to the original location and reboot, everything goes back to normal.
The external sd card is running FAT32 file system. I'm assuming that this might be the cause. What filesystem are you using @Strategikqc for your card?

Ho im sorry to ear thats not work for everyone. My SdCard is running exfat.
Have you tried to only transfert the folder contain the song ? Try to put the folder called no_backup on you SD card then create the symlink for that folder. You can verify if the symlink path is fine witch ES explorer.
Let me know if that work!

Good day! I tried to create a symlink like you adviced but something failed and everything went wrong. Apple Music crushed right after the startup and it's icon disappeared after the reboot. And now I can't even install Apple Music at all. Please, help. How can I delete this symlink?

You can delete symlink with es explorer and replace back your folder to get your apple music work again or you can just delete apple music from setting > appication and reinstall back.
You can try to create a symlink for the folder contain the song (no_backup)

Apple music to SD card problems
Hi and thank you for your help so far. However, I have followed your commands through terminal emulator and it keeps saying "not found"...
Also now since i have cut and pasted the no_backup folder from internal to external memory, none of my downloaded songs will play in offline mode. (Possibly not recognising file locations?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you,
