[Q] Controling music player in sleep? - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Apologies if this has been answered before but I am looking to have the controls of my music player accessible when the phone is in sleep. I had that option when I was using the unrooted version (Android 2.1) and Sense. Now I have C6 and the controls are not accessible when the phone is asleep. I have to hit menu, slide to wake it and then click on pause, previous and next (in the music player controls). Its handy to have these controls just show up when I hit menu, and then I can pause or go back. I can enable the function to skip using the trackball but I want the other functions accessible as well.

my cm6 has an option in the settings that allows lock screen music player controls.
settings->cyanogenmod settings->input settings->lockscreen music controls

Great..that's exactly what I needed.
Thanks

freakin sweet. I helped someone. I love it when I'm a noob but my limited knowledge becomes useful.

[Q] Multitasking - MP3 playback and navigation

Hello,
I am new to the Android world and attempted something yesterday I thought should work. I was using Google Music to playback MP3s and tried running Google Navigation. Whenever, I started Navigation, MP3 playback stopped. If I started Navigation, and then hit the home button to start MP3 playback, Navigation stopped.
Is this not possible? Should I being different apps for Navigation/MP3 playback which would allow this? Are there settings I am missing?
Thanks.
Well, here it works flawless... tried with 2.3.4 version and the new one 3.0...
But, it's kinda weird controlling volume, inside navigation, I can only set navigation volume. If I want to set music volume I need to switch to music app or launcher...

Thanks for the response - I tried it again and I figured out what I was doing incorrectly. I was using "Car Mode" and if you hit the Navigation button after Navigation is already running, it restarts the Navigation. You have to do a fancy swipe from the top bar to get to an app that is already running.
This leads me to my next question, in "Car Mode" is there a way to get to an app that is already running without a swipe from the top bar? I thought the whole point of "Car Mode" was that the buttons were big and you didnt need to be very accurate?
Thanks.

Go locker and music controls ?

Has anyone been able to get music controls on the go locker screen? I think go locker probably does not support it. Was wondering if there was any workaround or anyone has a suggestion for better lock screen that supports music controls ?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
have you figured one out? I have googled the crap out of it and came up with nothing. I like go Locker but I also like my music.
Unfortunately no. Go locker does not seem to have that support. There are other screen locker that support this.

Tactile Player
If you still want to stick with golocker and still want some music player controls, why not try Tactile Player from the play store (can't link until 10 posts). It uses your volume keys as previous/next and double/triple pressing the power key acts as pause/play.
the new go locker update now includes music control......
works pretty good too
true
New version has music control that u can enable from go locker settings.
its gives kind music toggle on lock screen which brings the music controls still its basic with just play/pause , next and back buttons . no info about song or anything.

HELP

Newer is not always better What happened to the seperate Navigation volume control

There is a feature or option that I truly miss from an earlier version of android. The ability to have a separate volume for "Navigation" and "Media/Music" Is there anything out there that would allow that function back? I use Google Maps/Navigation and mostly Player Pro or Pandora for music and MX player for videos. My HTC Thunderbolt is running a BAMF rom with Android version 2.3.4
I would be open to a different rom as long as it does not drop below the 2.3.4 mark.
Does anyone know of anything that would bring back the separate Navigation Volume?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
There will be a greater chance of getting an answer, if the title reflected your question...
There's an app called "Volume Control +" by Team Coffeebreak soft. Check that one out...
I currently have that installed but unfortunately it does not have the separate volume controls.
What about trying to use an app like tasker or Llama to create an event that every time any specific app launches the volume sets to a specific level.
Eg.
As I start the car and my phone connects to BT audio, the volume sets to max and Google play music app launches and when I get it out the car the volume returns to normal and the music app gets killed, all events are done instantly after BT connects/disconnects.
Good idea but my ultimate goal is something a little different. While driving I enjoy listening to my music at a relatively low volume. When the music is at a volume that is enjoyable I would like to have the navigation voice louder. It might help wake me up a bit so I don't miss a turn.
a very valid reason. they should implement individual app volume controls. Unfortunately, that would fall on the hands of the developer.

[APP] SleepTimer - Simple, Beautiful, Powerful

I should have posted my app in here a long time ago. But I guess it is never too late to post it and hope for some good feedback on how to improve the app even further.
What does SleepTimer do:
It simply gives you a way of stopping your music after x minutes. Set it, and listen to music (or a video) in the evening without having to worry about the music running at 3am and waking you up from your sleep. SleepTimer lets you even do more like turning off wifi and/or mobile data after it turned off the music so you do not get interrupted by those annoying WhatsApp messages .
Scenarios
1. Turning off music after falling asleep
2. Turning off remote music like iTunes Remote, YouTube over ChromeCast, ... (needs some configuration)
3. Like fall asleep while talking with your love but hate high phone bills? Let SleepTimer stop the phone call (needs some configuration)
For most use cases SleepTimer just works. Open it up, set time, start. Done. And it even looks nice (at least I think so).
Only like 6% of the apps need some additional configuration to make them work.
More details (only for those who want to know/read more)
The app uses many different techniques to turn off the music. Audio controls, audio foreground, and even notifications since the newest version. Sadly there are some really bad music players out there that do not support any way of stopping their music except for opening the app and using the stop button in there. In such cases there is only the way of lowering the volume (which I hate ). I hope those developers get to work and implement a proper Music Player. Luckily most apps work though.
About notifications (new since October 2014)
This I am actually pretty proud about and took me a while to implement. And it gives us two new features.
1. Stop music using the notification
So if they have a pause/stop/close control in the notifcation, one can add a custom action in settings, select the app and click on the button in the notification that stops the music. SleepTimer will then use that button in the notification to stop the music. That allows more ways to stop an app and allows to stop apps like iTunes Remote, YouTube with ChromeCast, ...
2. Wait until the end of a track
If enabled, SleepTimer will not turn off the music immediately but wait until the track ends. This is done using the text content of the notification. As soon as the text in a notification changes SleepTimer knows that the track is changing and it will send a stop request immediately. (As well it ignores numbers like 3:12 which is obviously not track information but time information)
Shake extend
If enabled, you can extend the timer by shaking your phone. So you can set some quiet chime to run one minute before the timer runs out. If you can still hear it then just shake to phone to extend the timer.
Root
One can enable root in advanced settings to have even more options when the timer ends. For example turning off the phone or turning on airplane mode.
I hope you do like the app. If not, let me know why. If you have any recommendations or questions, please just ask. As well any ideas how to improve the app further are welcome.
Cheers,
Patrick

Does it support all music & video players? Or only stock players?

It supports a lot of music and video players. Basically all of them that support the events of Android that good Audio Player apps should support according to Google Many players I tested (Stock, Google Play Music, TuneIn, Spotify, YouTube, ...) worked. And even if they don't work by default, try out adding a custom action in settings in on sleep actions.

Yes it is. But only if you have a rooted phone. If you do, then enable root in the advanced settings and then go into the On Sleep Actions settings where you will find the turn off phone option .
I think it would be great idea to add some notification with countdown(few seconds), before phone shutting down.
This is a really neat app! All the other sleep timers I tried didn't feature root options like airplane mode etc. Thanks a lot!
Just a little request: Could you add a screen off option as well? I mean sure, the device will turn off the display afterwards by itself, but I thought it might be useful.
Continuous sleep mode
Hi
I would like to know if the app can be configured so that if I fall asleep with earphones on and wake up and press the play/stop button on the earphones, theaudio I was listening to continues, but is automatically in sleep countdown mode without having to start Sleep Timer again.
This is the way the sleep mode in Smart Audiobooks works and it is very nice.
Thanks.

[Feature Request] Additional controls for headphone in-line button

MX Player is the best app ever! I really mean that. I believe it can still be better. Can you add this function to the next version?:
"Rewind the music using the headphone". In apple phones if you press the pause button two times that is going to rewind music. Samsung phones do not have that. What if you add something like that to MX Android? That is going to obviate the need for lousy apps like Headset Button Controller and Headset Droid.
Thank you.
This is a good idea; added it to the feature requests list.
As an adjustment, 2 presses would be NEXT, and 3 presses would be REWIND & PREVIOUS (rewind to 0:00 first, then again to jump to previous file if within first 10s of the current file).
That would be awesome my friend! I think, though, that it would be best if we could choose what to do with each command. For instance, if two presses would be NEXT "by default" I ought to be able to change that to toggle rewind if I use it more freuently.
