[Q] Xoom record video in MP4 not 3GP?

I hate to post a nooby question but I have searched and searched and cannot understand, or find an answer to my question.
I have a Xoom and several months ago it recorded video in MP4 file formats and stored the files under the "video" file folder in the gallery. Sometime ago it stopped doing this and is now recording video in 3GP and storing the video in the camera folder.
I know that the 3GP is a variant of MP4 but my networked media players do not support the file extension and I do not want to have to edit the files manually.
Why/how did this change and how do I revert to recording video in the MP4 format?
Thanks.
Anyone with some experience can recommend an app?

somewhere in the developer forum there is a modified XML that changes the video recording of the camera to mp4 and boosts its quality. If I recall, though, the variable frame rate that the Xoom records with screws up playback (for me at least) on an Xbox.
Thanks Jeff. I will search it out.

Editing CM7 M4V videos with Avidemux

Hi,
Not sure if this is the best place for this question, but just on the chance that anyone knows a solution
Basically I have CM7 on my HTC desire and as far as I can see, it records in M4V which is h264 or something?
Anyway, I recently downloaded Avidemux video editor and opened a file I recorded off the desire to do minor editing (removing audio from a few seconds of the video, still haven't figure out how to do that either )
anyway, on inserting the video file, I get a warning saying "H.264 Detected: If the file is using B-Frames as a refrence it can lead to a crash or stuttering. Avidemux can use another mode which is safe but YOU WILL LOSE FRAME ACCURACY. Do you want to use that mode?"
then when I playback the video, there's a big delay on the audio sync. It plays fine in media player classic.
Any help or feedback appreciated
That's a generic problem with Avidmux and H.264 that I've run into numerous times and not related to CM7. I get the same problem using my Hauppauge HD PVR recording HD from component video to my Linux system. I'm had some success using Handbreak to convert formats but still looking for a decent non-linear video editor that will handle this stuff. I've about given up on Avidmux. Sorry for not being much help. :-/
Thanks for the reply. That's a pity, is there any format that would work easily with Avidemux, that CM7 can record in also, or is CM7 only for wm4? As far as I remmeber, leodroid recorded in 3GP?

[Q] Phone Crashed while Recording a Video

my phone crashed while i was recording a video. i still have the 900 meg .tmp file saved on my phone, is there a way i can recover it? or more acurately, convert it so i can salvage the video i was able to record before the phone crashed? any help would be greatly appreciated. i tried saving the file on my computer and just changing the .tmp to .mp4, but that obviously didnt work. and no video player i have (wmc and wmp) are able to play it.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 MKV files

Hi all,
I am using MX player to watch videos and it seems to lag with some MKV files. There is no lag on avi/mp4 files, and sometimes even some mkv's work. Recently though I am unable to play any MKVs without lag. I'm unsure if this is how the system works, but I am unable to use the HW/HW+ decoder on any MKV files.
Today I flashed a custom rom onto my galaxy tab 2 and tried overclocking, but I haven't noticed any difference. ( I may be doing something wrong). It seems that I have the same issue with other players too.
If someone could help me out, that would be great. I'm not sure if I need a settings change, new player, different overclock values, etc. Hopefully it's possible to watch my MKV files
Also if someone could also suggest if there is a certain rom that helps too I'd appreciate it.

[Q] ftp video streaming probmem

Hello,
Recently I bought HTC one s for my wife and we encountered the following problem:
I have NAS (network attached storage) and there I store all of my home made videos. If I download a video from the NAS to the
local storage of the phone it can be played fluently without any issues (1080p .mov format) with mx player. The problem is
if I want to stream the video using es file explorer and mx playerv it cannot be played fluently, actually it stutters like hell and the audio is tottaly
unsynchronised and also stuttering. I tried maybe all video players on the market but to no avail-all of them were stuttering. I also tried software and hardware decoding-the difference is very small and the playback is still unacceptable.
Please give me some advise how to fix this issue
