[Q] SD card media scanning issues

I've had this Samsung Captivate since December and just noticed this issue with my SD card. It's a 16gb card that's been in it since I purchased the phone. Recently I looked at my gallery and found that one folder that used to have ~400 pic now has over 4000 pics. Most of these are duplicates. When I connect to the PC and view the folders there are the original 400 or so. No duplicates.
Today I unmounted the card, removed it and remounted it again. Now, in the notification screen it shows "Media scanning... 0 %" for an exceptionally long time trying to scan the media on it. For about 20 minutes. This happened earlier today but eventually came up after I shut the phone off. This time I powered it down and it did the same thing. Just sat there scanning. Then it came up with a red SD card icon stating that the card was full. I am now in the process of transferring everything I can onto my laptop. I guess it wouldn't hurt to reformat the card after that and see if it continues to happen.
After reformatting it, it still did the same thing. Luckily I had an extra 16gb card available. I installed it and transferred all the needed files. It works fine, for now. Don't know why this happened, except possibly that the SD card wore out (?).
Anyone else have a similar situation with either the captivate or SD cards in general?

[Q] save everything to sd card by default

Hi! I apologize, I cant seem to get the search function to work on my phone.
Anyway, I just bought the samsung infuse 4g the other day. One of the first things I did was change the default storage location for everything to the sd card. It worked fine but today I did a factory reset (just to see how it worked). Now I cant remember how to set it again. Just to clarify, it was an option to send EVERYTHING to sd card ( internal sd im guessing, the one with 13 gigs of space). Everything meaning contacts, apps, media, photos and such. I know how to do those thing individually, but there was an option for everything. Anybody know? Thanks.in advance..
If you have an external sd card, setting the camera save option to sdcard saves them to external sd card.
Do you know that? Dont know why, but it does. Everything else goes to internal sd card as far as ive seen, even game data. I never set it to do that, it just does.

MIUI reads only the EXT3 partition of my SD Card (NOT Fat32)

I'm using MIUI-1.12.9 with APPS2SD after preparing a 512MB partition for the apps on my 8GB Class2 MicroSD Card. The remaining section I used to store files for flashing, music, data, etc.
Now all of a sudden, my phone gives me 'You may remove the SD Card' error. It shows the MicroSD Card as unavailable and even when I connect vias USB, the computer cannot detect it. I tried connecting the card separately to the computer using an adapter, but no luck. However, it still reads the EXT3 partition where all the apps are stored as all the apps are still available to me.
Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to resolve this? I want to backup all my apps first but I can't do that with out Android recognizing the card
I don't have a solution for you, but just out of curiosity why in the hell do you use APPS2SD on Defy? After you install the ROM there is around 1GB of free space on the internal memory. This is more than enough to install over 100 apps. Moreover you can move some of the to SD-card from the interface (Manage Applications).
I figured, the more space I free up the more breathing space right? Anywhich way it was working great. No noticeable lag even though I use a Class 2 SD Card. When all of a sudden after over a week, it suddenly gives me a notification "You can safely remove your SD Card now." Huh? Even after reboot, it gives me the same message. I took out the card and plugged it directly in and it doesn't read, but the EXT3 partition still works fine!
I could just get a new card and start from scratch. But I'm intrigued by this error! Gotta get to the bottom of this. Didn't get any response on the General forum, so I figured I'd try my luck here at the risk of annoying a few people. Can anyone help with any suggestions?

Samsung Galaxy note II "inefficient space" error

Today my 32gb sd card stopped working on me and now when i try download and install apps all i get is not enough space yet i have 6gb internal memory.
I tried downloading apps of google chrome on the phone and installing that way but says the same thing,
The phone kept unmounting and mounting my sd card untill it didnt work..
I really dont know what to do, ive searched on the internet and everything and nothing seems to help.
I think you the sd card is either corrupted or removed unexpectedly (without unmounting)
Is your card readable when connected to PC or laptop? If yes this could be a minor problem. Switch off your phone, remove your sd card and re insert it.
Hope it may fix the problem.
Regarding space, the core apps and system UI will consume some hidden space even though you have space left over. Clear all cache, history and offline data, It will buy you space.

Internal Storage showing more than 100% full.

I'm having a problem with my Z3, where it seems to be counting data and/or apps stored to the external SD card as part of the internal storage, which is leading the phone to show as being full when it isn't.
As you can see in the screenshots below (no you can't because all my xda posts are somehow gone and I'm back to being a noob who can't post links) , my 16gb phone believes that it contains more than 22gb of data, the main problem being more than 16gb of apps, which are in reality stored on the SD card.
When I eject the SD card, the apps disappear, and the internal storage drops to what looks like the correct level (with apps showing at 5.88gb).
Some of the apps, notably Amazon underground and Vainglory, seem to be much larger than they should be, e.g Vainglory at over 4gb, when it should be 1.25gb, and Amazon being more than 2gb when it should be around 124mb (as they are on my Nexus 9). So it looks to me that somehow the phone is counting the apps and data stored on the SD card more than once. I've tried tried uninstalling both of those apps, incase it is an Amazon underground issue (vainglory is installed from Amazon). That helps free up some space (apps still show over 10gb though), but the next biggest app is Google Play Music, which is also showing data that is stored on the SD card as being part of the internal storage. When I reinstall Vainglory from the Playstore (still storing the data on the SD card), it shows as being 3.47gb, smaller but still way too big. So the problem is clearly not related to Amazon.
I'm running a stock Sony rom, Android 6.0.1 build 23.5.A.1.291 on a D6603.
Can anyone help me with this before I go nuclear and factory reset it again?
