Hi all.
As a hardware designer, I've usually found that firmware updates eg update from Droid 2.1 to 2.2 would be cpu specific. EG different firmwares for different CPU.
Does this apply to tablets with cpu differences such as Telechip 8902, ZT-180, Rockchip 2808 ??
If so, can anyone advise
How to display the tablets device cpu type?
How do we know which firmware suits which cpu?

I've an ARM processor which is capable of going upto 600Mhz. But the recent 1.6 to 2.1 update from the manufacturer changed the got the frequency down-scaled at 480Mhz.
I've rooted my Android phone, and now even if I try to set the maximum frequency anything beyond 480MHz using SetCPU using the slider, the "current max frequency" shown in green-color, refuses to go beyond 480MHz.
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that the current kernel which came with the update doesn't allow frequency to go beyond 480Mhz.
So, can anyone help me, with how to change the frequency back to 600Mhz?

Atleast can anyone help me identifying the current ROM for my phone?
And since this is an uncommon phone, I would like to know, how to determine which ROMs I can I try on this device?
Perhaps you should provide some useful information. You haven't even identified the phone in question and you expect people to tell you what ROMs/kernels you can run.

i want to change it to some other more powerful processor like snapdragon 1 mhz or somthing like that.

While it is technically feasible, if the following is true:
The new processor is from the same chipset family, and
The new processor pinout is identical. and
The support chipsets can handle the higher speeds & currents, and
You can purchase the processor (or, get a manufacturer sample), and
You have access to and the talent for using a surface mount desoldering / soldering station.
... In reality, the answer is "No". You would be much better off (and probably a ton cheaper) to go buy the fastest and most powerful Android tablet that is available on the planet in about 3 months.
That's why you aren't seeing many (any?) posts on CPU "upgrades" for smartphones.

what's the difference between armv6 and armv7?
Is it possible to modify the armv6 based phone to be able to use that?

You can not change the processor, it would be like making your P4 a core i5, I think the difference is in the architecture and the instructions.
However you can check if your phone supports it or not, devices with qualcomm snapdragon should support flash, you can find a comprehensive list of device specs here - pdadb.net

i see, so just the phone with qualcomm snapdragon that will support flash right?
is there any chance the other phone with different processor could do the same?
Because if not, it will affect the price of all entry level android phone in the future and it means we have to buy an expensive android phone to just be able to use flash
The samsungs with the ~1 Ghz CPU will probably support it, as well as tegra and tiomap, just check the particular device you want

I am a bit new around here but I stay pretty busy on some other forums and I run a site called rockchipfirmare.com. I don't consider myself a developer in the true sense of the word but rather I mix-n-mash roms primarily without getting into too much actual coding.
So I have a question that is slightly out of my league and I am hoping someone with a bit more knowledge can lend a hand.
I have two chipsets in front of me.
One is the Samsung Exynost 4412 (Quad-Core A9 with Mali-400 MP4 gpu)
The other is a Rockchip RK3188 (Quad-Core A9 with Mali-400 MP4 gpu)
Basically, I have noticed that Exynos pretty much runs EVERYTHING just a little bit smoother than the RK3188 does, even though the RK3188 actually does better in most synthetic benchmarks.
I think it -might- be a driver optimization issue as I am sure Samsung does a heck of a lot more with their drivers than Rockhip. I also suspect that the Mali-400 GPU in the RK3188 is running at a lower clock than Rockchip claims. Thus far I haven't found a way to figure out what the GPU specifically is clocked at.
Anyhow, here is my question....
Would it be possible to get the Samsung Mali drivers from the Siyah kernel and import them into the RK3188 kernal for a specific device?
I think I have most of the tools to do so already as I can unpack and repack boot images for the RK3188. Although I never have gotten into the extracted kernel image.
I guess I am asking if I should spend time on the above or whether it is a fools errand and if I do spend time on it what exactly am I looking to get from the SIyah kernel once I get into it?
Any thoughts our help someone would like to throw my way are most welcome.

Well, that is what I am try to learn, how to combine different modules drivers.
If the module is compile with the same kernel version (Linux 3.0.36), then maybe it could work.
How is going so far? I really would like to learn about that to be able to recollect all the modules for different RK3188 tablets and the be able to recompile new version of the kernel.
I am going to start playing with a PIPO M6 but any help will be much appreciated.
Note: If the GPU driver are integrated in the kernel I don't know you are going to be able to use them, as you cannot build a complete kernel for your RK8188 tablet.

To me it looks like you don't have an MTCD device. This forums are for MTCD devices only.
You might want to check out the Android Head Units forum or the Android Auto General forum.
I am not sure what exactly you got there but it does not look like PX3/PX5 based nor is it MTCB/C/D/E.
It seems to have some ARMv7 (v7l) CPU which is a 32-bit architecture. A very similar request was asked here, however unanswered yet. The number 8227 might refer to the MSM8227 chipset used with Qualcom Snapdragon S4 ARM CPU which in fact is an ARM v7 architecture (32-bit, "Krait" cores) used often in mobile phones back in 2011/2012.
However this does not help really to identify your unit and I don't know if there is any support, updates or custom ROMs available for this unit. I just know it's not MTCD unit and therefore none of the custom ROMs, enhancements or modifications discussed in this forum applies to your unit. Sorry about that.
