SYNET7LP 7" 16:9 800x480, 1GHz, 256 RAM, 2GB IS / 32GB ES, 1920x1080p HDMI, 802.11b,g, 2x USB, Android OS 2.1
Full on going review.. (note I just got this late last night)
Sears/K-Mart Lowered Price .... Veterans Day Special?
Just picked this up in-store for $149.95 plus tax. So far it has booted extremely fast. Trying to confirm the Android OS version. Website says 512MB of memory (which I took as ram) but the box says 256MB. Was told by telephone support that it had a camera but that is not the case (picture on some sites looks like it has a camera but this model my local Sears had does not have a camera).
Too bad about the camera. It may be going back although I like the HDMI output....
No G-sensor! (at least on mine). Have to pick the orientation by upper menu selection (although had to change the setting from automatic to reveal that feature).
Battery life??? Seriously?
I picked up one of these yesterday and was very impressed at first...
As soon as I remove it from the charger (fully charged) the battery drops to 85%. At first I gave it the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to a bug...
After less than two hours of heavy web browsing and full screen brightness the battery was dead... I chalked it up to my usage, plugged it into the charger and went to bed.
This morning at work I turned it on and set up my email. I turned the screen brightness down to low, the display time out to a minute, and disabled wifi. I let the screen time out to, what I assumed, was standby mode and went about my work. I came back a hour and a half later and the battery was at 14%!! I clicked on battery usage and something called 'Cell Standby' was taking up 80%... Now its dead with no way to charge it until I get home (won't charge from usb).
I'll search for a why to possibly disable whatever 'Cell Standby' is but this thing is probably going back to sears TONIGHT!
i was thinking of grabbing one of these, so i emailed them and asked if 2.2 was ever gonna be on option for these tablets. Got this response:

Hello my name is Josh, and I work for Digital Gadgets Customer Service.
I received your email about the Sylvania 7-inch tablet.
From what I understand you want to know when will the 2.2 update will be available.
At the moment I do not have an ETA on it, but there be a software update for 2.2 sometime this month.
You should received an email letting you know when it is available.
If you have any further questions please email me at [email protected].

Mine is sitting waiting for UPS to pick it up. with the possibility of 2.2 that gets me hoping more that this one pans out and isn't a defective POS like the Maylong.

Not too much happening on the Sylvania thread. I got mine today. I will be returning it since I ordered an Archos 70 today, but I will play with it for a few days anyway and comment on my experiences with it here.

EDIT: Oh I see you where you got that from. That is good news.
Fred, did you hear that they may upgrade it to 2.2?
Sylvania
First impressions are that the menu button on the back sucks. There should be one on the front of the device. I did install the Aldiko app the market place without any problem. I just find it annoying that to pull up a table of contents I have to push this small button on the back of the device instead of one on the front.
Should be delivered by the time I get home today.
Yea, I saw that they plan on doing 2.2 (probably get it before I get the official one for my Captivate).
I saw the video about potential upgrade issues. So I' figure I'll load everything up before I do the upgrade.
That Archos 70 looks decent, have to let us know how that one is too.
If I take the Sylvania back I still have a couple under $200 units I might try, If not I guess I move up into the near $300 range.
Sylvania
I spent a few more hours with this thing today. There does seem to be a battery issue with the device. I charged it up for 8 hours last night and within 5 minutes of turning it on I had downloaded the battery booster app, checked the status of the battery, and it showed a remaining charge of 75%. I would say from that point on I got around 2.5 hours of use browsing the internet, reading, and downloading a couple other apps. The lack of a g-sensor/accelerometer was not a big deal for me since I could change the screen orientation using the button provided. Maybe this is more of an issue with some games--I don't know.
Otherwise, I like the weight and balance of the tablet. The screen size is ideal for me to read on and I hold it fairly easily with one hand. The resistive screen works fine with a stylus or a fingernail. It does not work well with the ball of the fingertip, however.
I don't think there is a significant overheating issue. It does get obviously warmer during charging but I am usually holding the edges of the device so it wasn't a big deal.
Assuming an upgrade is forthcoming to 2.2, and assuming it improves the battery life closer to 4 hours, I would say this is a decent tablet. However, assuming the Coby Kyros comes available soon for about the same price, I would check it out first since it has a menu button on the front and because an accelerometer is included.
P.S.
I have stayed away from doing any software updates that may exist to this point. It sounds like they may cause more problems than they resolve.
Got mine last night, yea I have the weird battery meter issue too.
Loaded up a ton of stuff that I had on my Captivate, so far so good.
Did the upgrade and didn't have any issues, was still able to install apps unlike that video that is out indicated.
Also got it rooted with no problem using Z4Root, rooted in about 2 minutes, so I got Titanium Backup on it and CPU Tuner going on it.
So far I'm really liking this and if they keep their promise with the fixes and upgrade this is a sweet little device.
Between rooting it and doing the upgrade the battery issue seems to have resolved itself.
The only thing I have found is certain apps will change the screen orientation for a reason not related to the app and I get the force close warning now and then, but if I click WAIT instead it comes right back.
Funny the only web site that I seem to have a problem loading is XDA, and the XDA app seems to crash every time after I log in.
Other than that, I'm satisfied with this for what I wanted it to be. But I can see myself getting a decent tablet to replace my one netbook once it is out with gingerbread or honeycomb.
Battery
I had charged it 8 hours and it wouldn't turn on. I plugged it in the charger and it wouldn't boot up past the Sylvania logo. I performed a reset and was able to boot-up. I then immediately performed the update mentioned in the Sylvania booklet. It is now charging.
I am beginning to to think that the battery booster app that I downloaded doesn't work properly with this device since the readings are always seem dubious. Anyone have a battery app that they think works for their Sylvania?
P.S.
The booklet specifically says to take out the SD card when doing the update or they will be deleted.
Installing apps
After completing the update, everything seemed to be working fine but I just tried to download and install a new app and I am receiving the error message that the SD card can't be found. I have removed and reinserted the SD card a couple of times to verify it is seated properly and the OS is recognizing it since I can use file manager to explore the contents on the card.
At this point it doesn't really matter since I am planning to take it back anyway, but it does seem that the update causes problems.
I got that error immediately after the update, took the SD card out put it back in and it's been fine.
I'm using a 8Gig Kingston card, wonder if the card has anything to do with it?
There are2 usb ports the one is host only.
The other one is non-functioning until they release the net firmware update which they told me is in beta and should be out shorly.
How to reset?
Elmonica - or anyone else who has performed the reset -
How is this done? I see the reset button on the back, but if I press it while the unit is on, the screen goes blank (looks like powering off) and nothing happens.
The documentation online stinks and the manual leaves a lot to be desired. Any feedback is appreciated!
I also stood in line at Toys R Us and picked one of these up for $139.
And I also noticed the battery being chewed up very quickly on what seems like a full charge. For example, used it for 2 hours yesterday and set it down with 61% battery remaining, after about 6 hours of stand by - dead.
Looking at the running processes it appears the dev's didn't disable the cell phone portion of the OS.
aLogCat also reporting loads of fails on the radio buffer:
E/RIL (1957): opening data channel device - /dev/ttyUSB0. retrying...
Also, if you check your running processes and battery usage statistics you'll see the "Dialer" and "Cell" processes running. Not sure why.
I've tried killing these via term but they start back up again.
Maybe killing the WiFi before I set it down will save some juice.
After rooting it I got some battery improvement. But certain apps still time out on occasion and I'll get a run away key stroke while typing that is really annoying.

Have you had a chance to load a different launcher? I loaded ADW and got away from that goofy launcher. One press of the home screen gets you all the apps you have installed and press it again for a screen with widgets. Whats the point of having widgets if they are not on the screen full time?
Now I have to figure out how to disable the cell/radio process for good and also kill that silly yahoo api weather widget.
Next step is to solve how get adb working....

I got a captivate back in september and recently I hard bricked it. So Iwent to the store and they gave me a new one for free under warrenty (they couldn't even turn it on and apparently the power back on was a known issue for the model I had, even for now rooted users). Well long story short, even before I did the kies mini update to froyo I noticed the GPS was spot on, really fast before and after update. I think the older ones suffer from a hardware issue more than a software issue.
off topic: can't believe they actually gave you a new one when you *bricked* it, cause I thought when you root your phone, your warranty is void.
^^^I'm guessing he didn't tell them what actually caused the problem.
What's the manufacture date on the new unit?
I got mine less than a couple of weeks ago and I think mine is 12/10
for what its worth my first captivate purchased on launch day didn't seem to have hardware issue (seemed to be software problem). With the first captivate i had strong consistent stationary lock times and strength. Would usually lock in under 20-30 seconds max and see 8-9 sats with locks on 7-8. The problem was the device could not track when moving with JF6 or JH7. Turn by turn nav was unusable to a ridiculous degree. That being said with a handful of roms my tracking became spot on and lock times/strength even increased.
Just using 1 rom as example (Supernova) locks times were usually 10-12 seconds almost always under 15 seconds seeing 10-12 sats with locks on all or all but 1. Better yet as previously mentioned i could finally use the gps for turn by turn navigation.
--------------------------------------------
Received replacement refurb captivate (shutdown issue) last week and while i was peeved that its imei and manufacture date are still within range of affected devices i was pleasantly surprised by something else (a fully functional GPS on stock).
The device arrived with JH7 installed....i wasn't surprised by fast, accurate, stable locks because my first captivate accomplished the same (although these were faster and more in line with the improved performance i had achieved with custom roms).
When i took the unit out for a drive and some navigation i expected epic fail on stock...so i was extremely surprised when it tracked me turn by turn without any issues. I am on a custom for obvious reasons but my stock GPS on this new device that was manufactured in July was spot on.

I don't think ATT gives a brand new in Box replacement, they give a refurbished phone.

How long have you had the new phone? Is this the same "great" results we got upon doing a hard reset only to find out a few days later it still sucked?
Does anyone actually know if any of the refurbished phones have have any work beyond clearing and reloading?
just asking....
I purchased 2 last October and 1 at xmas time and all 3 had bad gps. Installing a custom ROM was the only thing that has made my gps tolerable.

Where did you find the date? I got a new one last week that came with 2.2. I guessed it was new? Was not impressed with the gps. Comparing it to a htc desire. Now that I have installed serendipity the gps works a lot better.

I am more inclined to think it is more software related. Otherwise I would still expect to have a bad gps. It now will even show me at my exact address in google maps.
I had to return one of my Captivates under warranty (touch input broke), and the refurb has had amazing GPS...even on stock. The replacement is a 1007.
I agree with the people that think it is a software issue. I got my first Captivate in the middle of August. I only had it for a week before all sound quit and I got a different unit. The replacement they gave me was also a new unit, not a refurb. The original unit had a flawless GPS. I even remember thinking how quickly it got a lock and it was always spot on. My current unit has a GPS that could be out-navigated by a blind man with Captain Jack Sparrows compass! I live in Louisville KY and when I drive down River Road, which follows the Ohio river, it usually shows me driving in the grass on Indiana's side of the river, while telling me it is 16 meter, or better, accuracy!! The river is about 200 - 300 yards wide at that point. Sounds a lot more like 100 meters to me! You know you have a screwed up GPS when it can't even figure out what state you are in. I will give it credit for repeatability though, it ALWAYS shows me in the wrong place.

Everybody got Froyo update for free. They are probably updating replacement phones to Froyo simply to prevent any issues with users updating via Kies.
NO WAY IN HELL was I going to tell them it was rooted if they couldn't even turn it on either to check. The tech at the warranty place said that not being able to power back on was a known issue for the model I had. I had to update myself to 2.2. But I'm so happy with the GPS now, I get my exact location in under 10 seconds most of the time.
Captivate SGH-i897
Batch no: 1008
Manufacture date: August 28, 2010
Not rooted. Stock, stock, stock.
Updated to Froyo on March 1
Here's an abbreviated version of a long story:
In order to solve another problem (could not send MMS messages), I did a master clear and reset. Before that traumatic event I was very, very, very--this is a family-oriented forum so I will just say--disappointed in the GPS which usually gave me somebody's position at about the same time I arrived at my destination.
After the reset Chartcross's GPSTest showed the GPS locks on four birds usually within a minute. Amazed, I drove about 150 miles (freeway and side roads) yesterday and the little blue triangle in Google Maps was right on top of me the entire way. Turning off the phone, driving ten miles and restarting the GPS got a lock in less than a minute (which test I've repeated several times over the last week). FWIW, I use a Garmin GPS for geocaching so I have some familiarity with GPS's.
Watching the bars in GPSTest, I have learned to keep my hands away from the upper two-thirds of the phone's body because that improves reception. In a car, reception is improved with the sunroof shade open or the phone on the dashboard (in a "sandbag" phone mount).
If you are unhappy with your phone's GPS performance and it has a similar background to this phone, you might try a master clear and reset. Either you will be very happy with the results or just as unhappy as you were before but, in any case, you will have an opportunity to spend several hours with your phone in a symbiotic relationship rebuilding it with settings and apps.
YMMV. Yada-yada-yada...

I tried a new Gingerbread Modem on a Custom Froyo ROM to see if it would work. Though I couldn't use because I couldn't get any Network Service I did test Wifi Speed and GPS tests. It was super with Wifi and GPS locked in like 10 seconds and within 5 meters. I had never had that kind of GPS service.
I had a similar experience. I returned my 1007 phone (purchased in august) last week for the random shutdown issue and bad gps. They gave me a 1009 phone that shut down 5 times a day. I returned that phone 2 days later and got a new 1007 phone, new simcard, and new battery (the shotgun approach to repair).
This phone has not shut down once, and will lock 7 satellites in a room where normal gps units have issues.
I am very happy now.
@Picsman, I find I get a similar result from "delete GPS data" via Lbstestmode........for a while anyway.
If I want my GPS to perform at it's best (however you want to describe that) I seem to need to do this first....
Disclaimer: This thread is just meant to help note 3 future buyers. All things listed are just minor inconveniences. The note3 is the best electronic device I've ever used to date. I think it's the best phone to date. The below pertain to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 model of the Note3; users of the Exynos model may have different results:
The good things about the phone are many. This part is not meant to list them, because you probably already know them.
Having said that, here are the things I've noticed so far (My phone is Qualcomm Snapdragon model with 32gb):
The phone gets somewhat warm at the back (above the samsung logo and below camera) during some usage. [Update: Temperature has been improved in my second day with the phone. It still gets a 5-7 degrees warmer while using the camera or intensive browsing, but nothing to worry about imo]
The home button is not firm in its place. It moves in its socket (much prone than it was on the note2)
The volume rocker on the left of the phone is placed higher than on the note2 (whether this is good or bad is up to you).
***UPDATE***
There is a noticeable and ugly pop sound followed by a static noise whenever the audio stops while using the AUX port in my car. When the audio starts again, the sound disappears completely. When audio stops or gets paused, it's fine for 3 seconds and then the pop sound hits again followed by the static noise. [I'll have to test this using another aux cable before confirming on this one though so don't quote me. The aux cable I'm using is one year old, $12 from radio shack]
There is an ever so slight gap between the frame and the glass on the top and bottom (the gap is a bit bigger at the bottom than on the top) which accumulates dust particles. The sides don't have any noticable gaps, at least in my phone. To be honest though, the issue is much less noticeable than it was on my note 2 (my note 2 had gaps on both sides as well as top and bottom), and you can't see it unless you deliberately look for it.
Charger is now much harder to both plug in and plug out of the phone (thanks riz157). This is actually an advantage for me since Note2's usb wire that came with the note2 would get detached very easily from the slightest of movement. However, one disadvantage of the new wire comes in the form that it is now more difficult to plug-in in the dark; the hole is a much tighter fit now.
The S-pen is not flush with the back cover like it was with the note2. It is now protruding by like 1millimeter. This is just a silly point, but I decided to throw it in. It is also somewhat harder to get out (thanks ipkryss for pointing this out), but it is easier to put back in (you can now put it back in in two different ways, as opposed to note2 which accepted only one way). The pen itself is thinner, looks more premium, and feels better in the hands than before.
***UPDATE***
Unfortunately, updating the Youtube app to the new version seems to break the functionality of the Scrapbooker feature that enables you to save Youtube videos in your Scrapbook.
You'll have to go to Youtube's application info and click "Uninstall updates" to revert back to the Youtube's old version if you want it to work.
It's one of the most interesting features for me when it comes to Scrapbook, so I hope they make it compatible with the new Youtube soon.
*** There seems to be a glitch where my phone would start only utilizing CPU1,CPU2 and CPU3&4 would remain "offline" no matter what you throw on the phone. This has happened a total of three times on my phone and was fixed with a simple reboot on all three occassions (Had the phone since 5 days now).
To put things into perspective, my Quadrant score on this phone is around ~22,000. When the glitch was triggered, Quadrant score was ~13,400 (which is still higher than the second highest score that belong to HTC One)
I can't replicate the issue because I haven't the faintest clue what triggers it. Not to alarm people, this might only exclusive to the ROM in my phone, as I haven't seen anyone else report it yet, and it seems to be a rare occurrence. If more users of the S800 model can chime in and track this on their phones (for a period of at least 2-3 days) I'd appreciate it. If it does turn out to be an issue with all S800 models and not just specific to my ROM, notifying Samsung should get it easily fixed with an update.
USB 3.0 Vs. USB 2.0:
Using a stopwatch, I set out to calculate the transfer duration of a 5.64GB from my PC to the internal memory of the phone:
First test: using USB 2.0 cable (Media device MTP connection), USB 2.0 port on my PC, File size 5.64GB.

TRANSFER DURATION: 00:03:15 (195 seconds)
Second test: using USB 3.0 cable that came with the phone (Media Device USB 3.0 connection), USB 3.0 port on my PC, File Size 5.64GB (exact same file to the exact same location on phone) [Warning: using USB 3.0 might interfere with data connection&calls]
TRANSFER DURATION: 00:01:37 (97 seconds)
BATTERY STATS:
So I bought phone yesterday evening. Charged it overnight. It was 100% when I woke up at 6:25am to get ready for work.
Enabled data (3g HSPA though, not 4g). Data was enabled for the whole day. The phone was on wifi for only 5-10minutes in the morning--ignore the bar in the second screenshot which shows that WIFI was on for the whole time. That may be a software bug.
The brightness was on Auto and on the middle of the Automatic brightness adjustment bar for the whole duration.
Phone Usage Included:
Chatting on whatsapp
Using XDA forum app
Reading some tech news using Appy Geek app
Installing around 20 apps from the Google Play Store
Listening to music to and from work through AUX port in car
Fiddling around with the phone from time to time --testing Air command, browser .. stuff like that
By around 10pm, the battery was around 33%. I began running YouTube videos on HQ, with max volume, and on 3g for a total of around two hours.
Finally, the battery dropped down to 7%.
* Disclaimer: The usage did not include extremely battery-hungry tasks, such as playing games or running benchmarks. GPS and Bluetooth were off. Air gestures and such 'gimmicky' features were off, as I don't really use them. Note that your Note3 battery life might/will differ depending on usage and whether you're on WIFI or 4g.
*** Charging Speed (using AC adapter): Around 47 - 48% / hour. I plugged my phone when it was 5% at 12:36 am, by 1:36 am it was up to 53%. ***
And below are the results:
Verdict: the battery life is fantastic. Enough said. If my usage didn't include running Youtube videos, then the screen-on time would have probably been more than 7 hours. Note that this is on the first charge cycle of the battery. To make it short, it will easily last you a full day if you're a heavy user, and more than a day if you're a light user. Keep in mind that screenshots were taken when battery was 7%, so it still had some "juice" in it left
OFF-TOPIC: I know I said I wouldn't mention the good parts of the phone, but I have to say that the display on this phone is lovely and to me a worthy upgrade to the Note2's. The blacks are BLACK. So much so, that if you open a completely black screen on the phone, and go in a pitch dark room, the phone will be completely invisible because it blends perfectly with the dark. As a point of comparison, my Note2 looked greyesh in a completely dark room.
The whites are improved as well over the Note2, they now look more "milky" if that makes sense.

How is the audio jack signal?
Is it clean or do you hear a crackling or "noise" when you pause an audio track?
Also what headphones are using, what track, what type of recording, what volume level?
Are you using a headphone amp to power the headphones etc..

I've tried the ear phones that come with the device (which are improved from the ones that come with the note2 btw -- they have the noodle-like cable now) and to be honest I didn't hear any crackling sound or noise when playing or pausing the audio.

Can you turn the volume all they way up and hit pause, if you don't hear any "noise" then at least the headphone jack has a clean signal..
Thanks!!

Ok.. I went into a completely silent area and turned volume to max with audio paused. There might be something there, but if there is then my ear is too weak to pick it up, because I can't decide if there is really some faint sound or my mind is imagining things.
To be verified by some other user... I might not be the best test subject when it comes to audio

It's all good man, thank you for testing it out. I have pretty good monitors and I will test them as well. But if you didn't hear something noticeable chances are its there is none..

I know you did.
I meant it for other note 3 owners who will share their critics in this thread
MohJee said:
Disclaimer: This thread is just meant to help note 3 future buyers. All things listed are just minor inconveniences. The note3 is the best electronic device I've ever used to date. I think it's the best phone to date.
The good things about the phone are many. This thread is not meant to list them, because you probably already know them.
Having said that, here are the things I've noticed so far (phone is qualcomm model with 32gb if anyone is interested btw):
- The phone gets somewhat warm at the back (above the samsung logo and below camera) during some usage [this could very well be the result of the constant updating in the background since it's still a new phone]
- The home button is not firm in its place. It moves in its socket (much prone than it was on the note2)
- The volume rocker on the left of the phone is placed higher than on the note2 (whether this is good or bad is up to you).
Will update this thread if I find anything else. Doubt there will be many, if any ,more though. For anyone else who has the phone, feel free to contribute.

The home button on my is fine but the s4 I had used to have with a wobbly home button so suspect it's a generic issue with build quality.
Audio is massively better than the s4 in terms of volume and quality

What about bluetooth connectivity? Any WiFi interference issues? I've seen reports of the Note II suffering from this with certain headsets.
With my nail-bitten fingers its impossible for me to get my pen out! i need to use my teeth or ask somebody else.. damn. I hope it'll loosen up a little bit, or this might be a great opportunity to stop biting my nails!
Anyone else have this issue?

I'm accustomed to this, as my Epic 4G Touch accumulates heat in the same area It's likely where the processor is located.
I'll add what I can next week when mine arrives... hopefully I won't have much to add
I went to a store here in Sweden to try one. Sweden's getting the S800 variant. I got to use the first note 3 they had in stock, before it was even tethered to the bench with the rest of the phones. Booted it, skipped all the setup screens etc. Just messed around with features for 10 minutes.
I was looking for "lag" or stuttering in the the UI as the S4 has. It was rare, but it happened when scrolling the widget filled homescreen once or twice (out of 20-30 times). Didn't slow down the animation, the animation just seemed to drop a couple frames.
Still want it though, unless a deal breaker shows up in this thread.
Just bloody expensive in Sweden. Unlocked and off contract is 1000-1100 dollars depending on the store.
What is the call quality like? Also what is reception like? This will be my home and personal phone so I need that part of it to work well.
Hi all,
So I got a Samsung galaxy s7 from o2 yesterday. It's less than 24 hours old, and it seems to run quite hot!
Sometimes it'll be next to me, I'll pick it up, send a few texts and browse the internet and I can feel warmth/heat coming from just near to the camera.
It's also frozen on three occasions where I've been on chrome. The screen and all buttons become completely unresponsive, and even holding the power button down doesn't do anything, for a while at least.
I've read on Google factory resetting can help, but surely that shouldn't apply considering this was fresh as of yesterday? I'm pretty sure my phone shouldn't be crashing and being unresponsive so quickly into its life.
Question is, is this a fault? Or software?
It can sometimes, I would recommend resetting it, giving it some time and if needed taking it back for replacement

Hi. I went through the same issue a few weeks back. Mine was a unlocked uk model brand new.
I did everything from factory resetting, to installing firmware from scratch and nothing helped.
Ultimately for me I believe it was a hardware issue and ended up returning for a full refund.
Also for me I was getting a lot of random reboots.
My model was manufactured in march.
Used the phone info app on Google play to check.
Could you check to see when yours was made.

Hi mate thanks for replying.
Mine was made in April according to that app.
I think I fixed the issue, and it was to do with 'Mediaserver' being the number one thing using my battery up. So I reset the phone, cleared the cache etc and it seems to work fine now with no crashes. It's a shame because the average user would just buy the phone and not even think about doing what I did.
My phone still gets warm though. Did you find that? And if applicable does your new s7 gets warm too?

Mine gets warm too, so I downloaded GSam to monitor the temperature. After monitoring the temperature for a while I realized that my nexus 5 runs hotter but I don't notice it cause it's made out of plastic instead of metal/glass.

Yes, it is or was. I was having the problems before rooting and after rooting.
Made no difference at all.

I went into o2 store earlier today explained the problem, and because i was in my 14 day period i got it replaced no questions asked. So far even though this phone was manufactured a month prior to the one i returned (March), it seems fine and was only warm downloading the latest updates. Hopefully im on to a winner here!
Hey,
I have the same problem!
I have tried many things but not rooted my phone or did any modificiation.
I found out that I got these problems because of my Spotify App and I am sure the actual version of Spotify causes a big problem deep in the system of the S7.
Have you an idea how I could prove that?
I removed my Spotify App for 2 weeks and had not even one problem. Since I reinstalled Spotify, I get all those issues again

No case either for now.
How stable is your Moto X Pure Edition? What's the greatest length of time that you've kept your device going without restarting or running the battery to shutdown?

I just reached mine last night (see attached picture). That equals out to just over 35 days. The reason for the eventual reboot was because I triggered some kind of weird glitch that made everything on the screen go all washed-out. No matter what I did, nothing short of rebooting the device would make it go away, so I had to give up my streak.
This would be a good thread. Mine usually runs fine till 6-7 days then I could notice stuttering or frame drops which gets solved with a reboot.

You definitely rarely reboot.
I have never tried to see how long I could let it go. I reboot once a week just to avoid issues.
Any other records? Why do people reboot their MXPE?
It looks like that 75 day figure is the record so far.

Interesting. What kind of issues do you try to avoid? I'd also be curious to know the main reasons why people reboot. Whether it's the screen glitch, a catastrophic software malfunction, the installation of an Xposed Framework module, or even just because the battery ran down, I would love to hear what "broke" your records as well.
I reboot as many apps get buggy the longer they are up.

I'm just trying to avoid issues in general. I've been doing this from before my Pure days. I've had a few instances of problems with network connectivity after 3 to 5 days off usage on this device with the only way to fix it is by rebooting. This just reinforced my weekly habit.
I hope that the uptime improves for you

I used to have to reboot rather frequently with the Galaxy Note 2 as well. For some reason, the auto-rotation system would completely stop working within 2-4 days of having used the dialer app. It was weird because, when this happened, the tilt sensor would behave weirdly in applications that made use of it and auto-rotation would only work in the dialer (and a couple of other apps). Even stranger was the fact that it would magically start working again as soon as "auto brightness" was enabled (but fail as soon as this feature was turned back off). It was a known issue with that particular rom, but went on to ultimately never be solved. If it wasn't for that one pesky problem, I could've probably hit a month (or more) of uptime on that phone too.
At any rate, I hope you get the network connectivity issue resolved. You might've seen the long thread on the issue that I posted a few months back, and I never did get to the bottom of it. Hard reset was the only cure. Thankfully, the bug hasn't come back, even though my setup is pretty much the same as it was before.
Endurance record!
Hit another high score! Only reason I shut it down was to replace the battery. Works out to a little more than 50 days.
People have been really *****y about the delayed software release, but I'm glad that they took their time and allowed us to not only achieve this kind of stability, but also multi-window and night mode. The Moto X Pure Edition truly is the ideal smartphone. :good:

Yeah, it's definitely difficult to pin down. I've only seen it 2-3 times in almost a year and a half of ownership, so it's hardly a serious enough issue to raise a fuss about.

Really interested in this phone but obviously worried as it's there first generation phone. So can those who actually have the phone please use this thread to highlight the main issues they have encountered with the phone, to help others decide please.
Vibration motor sounds feels and sounds like theres a poor animal inside being shocked occasionally to cause the rumble (and sound)
When making calls people on the other end I cannot understand or make out what's being said but incoming calls are just fine
Started a similar thread, but getting sidetracked irl..
This thread is only focusing on the negatives to help people decide whether or not to buy it?
What about the positives? (which really do outnumber the negatives by a lot)
I'm also saying this after receiving a defective-speaker phone first time. Still wouldn't trade this phone for any others even if ya paid me or gave it to me for free.
It's like this...

For what it's worth i don't have this issue.
I find it's quite a hefty phone - that reeks of quality, but the square angles and smoothness of the build means it has slipped out of my hands a few more times than other phones. Though I am kinda being a bit namby pamby with it till my screen protector and case come through from Amazon, so it's probably just me.
When my phone vibrates, the bottom speaker area is what rattles.. Hold that or squeeze it and it will stop rattling temporarily.
I've been using this phone for two full days now. I love it. Amazing.
There are a few issues I'd like to list and come back too later to see if anyone else is having the same issues, but first let me start with what I love about the phone because I really do love this phone.
What I Love:
Yuuuuge screen. At first I thought I really wanted to go for the OP5T for the 18:9 Ratio. I actually compared side by side and I like this screen much more.
Phone is bulky, yes. But it gives me a feeling of quality. Like its going to last. My last three phones **** on me which were all Samsung. They look pretty, but they aren't built to last anymore. I am certain Samsung builds phones now to be replaced just like apple. My last phone the S7 Edge literally nothing wrong with it. The alarm went off in the morning like always, when I went to swipe the phone froze, got incredibly hot and shut down. After it cooled down I tried resetting it. Booting in safe mode, etc. Nothing it shows a black screen and what bugs me is that the phone works, I can get text message and unlock etc but the screen is black. This bothers me so much because the boot logo and animation shows up so I know its not a hardware issue. Right as the S8 comes out? Coincidence? I don't think so...
Anyways....
The Razer just seems durable to me, No fancy edges etc. (Cheaper to fix a flat panel in the case of cracks as well).
Screen is smooth as butter at 120hz. It really is noticeable, however after the first day I stopped noticing it. It became a passive thing for me. But I do notice when a game is not running at a high fps and it aggravates me now lol. Most of the games I used to play are literally unplayable to me now.
2TB MicroSD - Wow. No way I will ever need all that but still cool.
Audio, Dolby app. So good.
What I hate: Please let me know if any of these have been addressed by Razer.
Phone does get warm in use at, usually when set to 120hz. Like Youtube and gaming. Even regular use like watching youtube videos in HD gets the phone warm. Never hot, but warm.
Bluetooth audio when on youtube can get out of sync. Only way to fix is with restart. Happened twice so far.
I don't know if its just my mind playing tricks on me, but I notice the screen flash to a dimmer brightness at times. It happens in an instant and gradually gets back up. It's hard to explain, but I will be looking at the screen watching a youtube vid or something then look away and when I look back it seems like it's not as bright, but the more I look at it the more I can't see the difference anymore.
So yeah,
EDIT: Also what is ticking me off is that this has the same camera module as the S7 Edge yet better processor and twice the ram yet I can't shoot video in slow-mo 120fps. I know Razer is working on Camera fix, and I sure hope this feature comes along with it.
I thought the phone has a heat pipe or something like that?. Anyway for me seriously am done with phones that generate heat, especially when it's for gaming!

Is this the unicorn you speak of :
I wouldn't rule out this phone based on one or two users experience,at least until they can show how "bad" it is,with some footage/apps that record heating/etc........
Especially if they're charging the phone while playing a grapic-intense game.

No doubt, phones or computers that generate heat are so mid-90's. They're just dumb.
I've had an issue, happened twice now, but it is difficult to reproduce.
Dolby Atmos app open and turned on, wired headphones (Bang & Olufssen in ear buds). I was listening to an audiobook (Audible app, AAX file extension) and after 25-30 minutes of continuous playback (from 1 audiofile), the sound got weird, like it was coming through a drainpipe. This has never happened with music MP3, and only happened twice but each time after a lengthy playback. So far I haven't got it to happen without Atmos running.
Screen touch response seems like it is not very sensitive. Coming from the axon 7 that you could hover over the screen and it would be detected at times, I find myself double tapping home a lot. Really sucks not being able to change nav bar key placement.

I am having more small issues with the razer than I did on the axon. Like auto rotate not working at times, not being able to move files from the internal storage to the SD card listing to headphones and the dongle gets moved to much and audio cuts off. I am hoping that once there are custom roms somethings will be fixed.

Granted while I have not tried the dongle yet I have no problem moving files from internal to external sd and back again (I used a third party file manager). I have to ask the stupid question. Have you tried a factory reset?

It's not every file, some move some don't. No I have not reset yet, have not reached that point of annoyance yet. Don't get me wrong I really like the hardware it's the little software bugs that are what I have trouble with, and that's coming from a guy that usually runs buggy custom roms.

Can't say I've not had the auto rotate not work. It was annoying the home screen is set to portrait in Nova settings.
What files are you trying to move though? From the 64GB internal to a SD?
My only issues are random restarts when I try to wake up my phone, and the metal surrounding my power button being slightly bent.
hello, for my experience, i love this phone a lot, but for downside is,
1. Mirror cast, cast doesnt detect other device on my phone, its like not even trying to find.
2. Bluetooth, so hard to connect audio bluetooth to my car radio, even if i can connect it, it play for just a less than a minute, then it stop.
3. Vibration, yep is kind a anoying vibration.
4. Heat, playing a mobile legends for a minute like playing for a hour, but i solved with using razer phone hard cover, at least i didnt feel the heat too much.
So far is good, but compared to my s8 plus, razer still have a lot to do.
Cheers.
