Any players to run AVI or WMV on the Evo? I pushed the video player from the Epic 4G via ADB but it didn't show up, so that's not gonna work.
Any alternatives? Takes me 3 hours to convert to mp4 -__-

Have you checked media playback compatibility? As I understand it, stagefright removes support for a lot of media formats.

try changing the http to false, then try streaming again.
I noticed less buffering and clearer music (ie pandora, movies, anything streamed)
on some phones that breaks youtube.com mobile site but not the app. doesn't appear to break it on the infuse though
That's actually something I have been doing for a while now. The others I enabled but really noticed no difference enabled vs disabled other than quadrant increase.

H.264 is a video compression standard (such as mpeg4). It's used in blu-ray. You can find a few samples here to test. http://www.h264info.com/clips.html

Its in /system/build prop
Click r/o and change them to

Hit menu key select quit save
Reboot
But I used tweaks and all that jazz to get higher quads.lol so this is at your own risk.its easy to switch back though it saves you a copy

it has always been my experience with Samsung gb that stagefright breaks .flac .mkv h264 .wav and a few others. i haven't tested on the infuse. it may just break. mkv and not all h264. the quadrant increase is likely due to an increase in h264 decoding speed and nothing else but it might be misreporting something or stagefright might not work with the Samsung movie player or the Samsung rom yet still apparently work in quadrant.
it shouldn't be a problem in cm7 where some formats need a 3rd party app that would be supported buy the Samsung app.

I've searched around, tried QQPlayer, Kascend, Rock Player and Mobo and none of them can play the files properly. Either there is no sound or way too much lag.
Dice Player seems to be the only option out there, so since I'm a cheap bastard I want to see if there is a free alternative out there before I shell out the five bucks.
Have you tried mplayer? It's the only way to go on a linux desktop. I'd venture to say it would do well on our phones.

Yup, the only that works for me. I'm just going to stop being cheap and shell out the $5.
I can't believe it's this difficult to get .mkv support. It's 2011, who uses .avi or .mpg anymore? EVERYTHING you download in high def is an .mkv Playing these files should be like being able to play an .mp3
Have you tried MX Video Player, there is a trial version available
that has ads, but I liked it so much I paid for it. I have managed
to get it to play 1080 mkv, it supports dual core decoding...

Wow, hadn't heard of .mkv. It looks good though, I need to investigate further. I guess there are many conflicting commercial aspects to it. A bit like FreeBSD/Linux in their early days vs AIX/SunOS/HPUX.....

.mkv seems to be the standard with HD videos. I don't download anything unless it's 720p+ and every uploader chooses .mkv

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Try it out, it's free and great.
Does anyone Know of a good, working HD video player other than the Stock video player? Ive Noticed that you tube is very slow to load But if I veiw it through the internet then watch it through my stock video player I have no delay or buffer in the video. the only problem is its very poor video quality. But if I watch it through you tube its HD playback but constantly buffers .
I have Dice Player and MxPlayer installed always. If one doesn't work, the other usually does.
Mx player OR vlc are my faves

Oh you can haha, I thought that was implied. There are little togles for full screen and minimize and stuff, you can resize amd move around the small screen like the native video player but can import from youtube easily. Only issue is sometimes resize whilr watching can be a bit odd with an internal zoom on the video faster yhan the mindow size changes. Check it out for sure though, it is a bit fun
