It was opera "mini"
To be honest, I find it a bit lame and slow. The only plus side for most users will be that it does have pinch to zoom. But aside that it might be pretty it really is not a step up from stock. Try the muiu browser it is a bit faster but more intuitive.
Loving it
I find this version is a bit slow on loading, but when the page is fully loaded there is no equal for panning around and reflowing text. However, this is the first beta and functionality can only increase from here! I'm just glad to have my Opera Link back! The functionality is better than stock imo, but the Desire Browser is still the best experience I've had on the Nexus. Although I'm trying out Cyanogen 6.1-RC1 and will be using Opera from now on
I've tried to install it but if failed (because of low memory) and now 5MB disappeared... and even after 5 reboots and deliting few caches i still can't return them
I really like it!
It fast, and beautiful.

The miui browser can't block ads. I can add a urlfilter.ini file to Opera Mobile the same way I can with Opera on my desktop and ads are blocked.
Working on getting it to use a custom style to reflow the page so that blocked ad space is used and not just a bunch of empty negative space. That part isn't working so well
gggggooooooooooddddddd

Due to the lack of multi-touch the better browsers out there can be pretty limiting. So I wanted to share two Gems that I've found so far. Perhaps you'll like them too.
For the best

1) xScope (I use xScope GL (was the one from 1.6) and it works just as well in 2.1 without the whole "Trial" nonsense that xScope 6 likes to add to it.
With this you double tap, upon the second tap slide your finger right to zoom in and to the left to zoom out. This works, in my opinion, better than multi-touch zoom (no need for two hands~) and works really well.
It also has a quick menu where you can list your favorite sites and go from there. Browser is as fast or faster than those that are out there . And I mean, really. Who needs gestures?
2) Miui browser (Found this via xda's front page. If you don't check that often, do. The xda staff do an amazing job recommending kick-ass apps ^^)
For this one, it has the same type of "home" area like xScope and then some extra treats. The zoom works well too. Double tap to zoom in, double tap to zoom out. I just downloaded it a few days ago but it'll easily become my main browser. I'm still finding out neat things to do with it so it could get even better.
I should mention that miui is in beta as well as when you're adding your favorites sometimes they won't save right away. Exit and restart and they should be there. I've also found I can't remove the Music short-cut but >.>; Should work eventually (in an update?)
But yes, give them a try - you probably won't be disappointed. (Although some of you are married to skyfire - i'd say use it when you know you'll be visiting flash movies sites )
For the worst
1) Firefox 4 beta 2 -
Slowed my phone down to TAR. Really really bad. Looks nice though (albeit a bit too much of a clone of dolphin hd) but what it does to Xperia is well... enough to make me uninstall asap.
thank you for the recommendations. i just tried xscope and i have to say, im impressed haha. i tried dolphin browser and hated it. there was just too much going on. i love the simplicity of xscope and the zoom is rather intuitive
Miui translated is really good. I downloaded it a few days ago and it is the best browser i used so far..

Xscope is the sh*t. I ended up buying the full version (the demo graphic was really annoying).

Not sure, but i do remember Cyanogen proving Quadrant gives bugged results if you mess with partitions.

Yeah, i remember that as well. Probably a similar case here rather than a real boost.
may not be completely relevant, but I've eventually got a successful run of it on the G1

scores don't really matter. And it doesn't seem any bit faster, but then again I can't really tell since I haven't gotten it stable enough to test normal apps. The UI feels more smoother-ish, not quicker just less jumpy. *note i said "-ish", because there are no apps installed so obviously it's not gonna lag.
so far for me I have only gotten it to work on the first boot, and for some reason only when I don't flash gapps (and fyi, I'm using CM 6.1).

Still, that's amazing.
Here's a link to what I posted in the N1 forums containing the update.zip with some fixes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9937499&postcount=105
This is not my work, its just some fixes on others works.
Have you tried any heavy duty real world applications? Like Angry Birds or Gallery? Kwaak3 would be another application that relies heavily on loading. Maybe a web browser.
Those are the only apps that I can think of that would benefit from faster loading.

Thanks, that's looks really useful. Just wish I could download it.

Just wanted to share with you a beta version of my new app called Quicker Settings. It's quite stable and almost ready to use. Although it's not a home replacement, you can add move or delete settings as if it was a normal home screen - everything starts with a long tap on a home screen.
Required Android version: 2.0 or higher (sorry 1.6 and 1.5 guys). It would be great if you could try it and share your opinion (or report issues) via embedded Menu -> Share option.
Latest version is always available here for download: http://code.google.com/p/quick-settings/downloads/list
Have fun!

why delete? was stoked for that app =/
What app was it?
This did look really interesting... Where'd it go?

Ah this app isn't new, I've always used it.
The new app like it says on that site is "Quicker Settings"
Looks interesting.
What happend? Would like that app i think.
ya, that one from code.google.com is the same app, just tried it, works great on stable 2.0.1, very nice and easy to use, wish it could be used as a full page widget, then would be perfect, but for now, a shortcut works =)
Nice app, the torch schould be integrated as in the old app.
direct apk dl: http://quick-settings.googlecode.com/files/com.bwx.quicker.settings.apk
Is clunky and doesnt really do anything better than smaller apps out there.

Sorry guys that I had to remove the thread. Now it is back again.
Trying it on a LG O2x... will let you know how it works, if you like
It's pretty choppy on the LG Optimus 2X on Stock Rom V10B (latest baseband)

Thanks! Useful feedback!
I'll Try It
Nice app, it would be really good to have it as a 4x4 widget.
Works flawless on my LG P500 running CM7
Wow I really like this app. No issues here at all. Looks much better on the eyes than similar apps and its super easy to use the large buttons/sliders.

Is there a way to remove the "suggested" add-on's from Dolphin Browser such as Evernote, TrustGo, Phonegap, and Pocket?
They sure are cluttering up my stuff.
Or are those like ads and that's part of how Dolphin makes its money?
Any input would be appreciated.
When I did use an play store browser I switched over to boat browser because dolphin started acting funny but now that we have ics I just use the stock browser because it does everything I need it to.
But when I did use dolphin browser I remembered that I was able to uninstall the plugins through the regular applications manager.
Also I just downloaded dolphin browser to check it out and it seems like it might be cross app promoting because the add ons aren't installed they are just available for download through that link

That's what I'm talking about
It's really annoying.
That it all.

indeed it is
Ugh, this is a frustrating development. Dolphin is my favorite browser, but I'll abandon ship if I can't drop the fluff.
I find these 'default' add-ons too very annoying!
Giving me again the feeling of not owning my device . .
Of course I gave dolphin a try after realizing an enthusastic usership,
but now I'm starting to doubt the concept!
Gestures and voice could be nice but I would again have to learn
one technique to be able to control just one app . . .
Btw. the scrolling works nicer with the default or firefox - even chrome
is now giving me a better feeling.
To accept one Amazon bookmark in firefox is bearable.
Still I'm too curious how the default add-ons (especially the antivirus!)
If you install the advertised app, it will let you remove it.

Hi,
I am on stock android on my new gem, moto g there is this alignment problem i am facing , a common issue for me on xda-developers website. You can see on the image that lines are overlapping.
Sometimes zooming in and out and scrolling make the problem go away but it really is annoying

This happens to me only on Chrome Beta and only for the xda site. Working fine with Chrome though
Happens to me quite a lot on Galaxy Note 3 using Chrome so it can't be the Moto G

Same problem here on my 2013 Nexus 7 with the latest Google Chrome browser (not beta). Please figure it out, XDA Developers.

Same on nexus 5 with chrome. I think it is only when certain ads come up. XDA really needs to get their ads under control. It's such a crappy experience here these days. Floating banners, shadowbox popups, flashy adds, blech...

Yup, I agree. These ads are really getting out of control. Sites with invasive advertising like these are the reason I use Adblock on my PCs.
Seems auto rotate to landscape and back to portrait after the ads load will fix this by forcing redraw of the page. Xda web devs: just add a function to fix content div heights after the page is done loading.
Fix from this thread: https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/chrome/5y-9z0eyO-w/Edhx4RJEY6cJ This is the only site I've seen this on, can't believe it is s chrome issue...
Often same problem with stock, chrome no beta and xda site i.e.
