I use it and it's always worked great.
I used it when an stock froyo 2.2, and I still use it for missed call and Gmail, and for low battery with CM6 because I find CyanogenMod's implementation of color alerts buggy at times. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Blink always has worked for me. Using a Google Nexus One. The only thing that has never worked is changing the incoming call color...but I don't think Android allows it or something...not sure.
Thanks for the great app.

Used it for quite a while now and like it.
My only request would be to add support for more notifications.
Specifically one for Gmail, so the Gmail notification color can be changed.

It works ok, but I always hv to force close it otherwise the led keeps blinking, even after I hv cleared the missed call/ missed message. Seriously this bug has to be fixed. Thanks!
P.S. My machine and ROM are listed in my signature.
Is this version the same as the market version (1.7)?

FINALLY...
I’ve been using it for a long time now
Here are my comments:
1- Sometimes it doesn’t show me any indications at all as if it stopped working
2- Keeps warning me that I have sms even though I don’t have any new sms
3-Need indications for Gmail, Gtalk, twitter and facebook
NOTE: my phone is Nexus One Stock froyo 2.2.1 unrooted

Would be nice if there where some kind of test button so we don´t have to wait for an incomming mms sms phone call and such to see the blinking speed and color.
EDIT: tested it and it seems it dosen´t work for the Desire with CM nightly.. to bad tho.. looks like an nice app

I've used blink for several months now. Some of these points have been mentioned, but I'll say them again:
1) I like the LED on low battery option, but there needs to be a way to disable both the notification (in the top bar) and the popup that occurs on low battery. I don't want those, I just want the glowing trackball.
2) There should be more options on the LED triggers. Example: Different colour for email/gmail.
3) I'll watch next time I get a call to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure the trackball glows the default white on incoming call, not the blue I've set it to. It does glow blue for a missed call. (I'm on a Nexus One with 2.2.1, unrooted).

Cool, thanks for all your comments here, I keep it to my note and our tech team will make it in the new version to see if all the requests can work. One thing be sure is now it seems that Blink works fine on most Nexus one phones, but other android users don't worry, our tech team will make it work soon......

I used it without any problems on stock froyo on my unrooted nexus one. However, I think it might have drained a lot of my battery.
Since I am rooted now, I just use the cyanogen settings.

I used this for a while on my N1, but, at some point, the LED began flashing even though I had no new notifications, and the only way to make it stop was by killing the program. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't help. After that, I had to uninstall the app so it wouldn't drain my battery.
I loved it when it was working properly, though! If you guys can figure out some of the bugs, I'd definitely download it again. I miss the different notification colors

It has worked well for me but I don't think I can vary the speed of the led blink. It always seems to be the same speed no matter what I set it to. Otherwise a great app.
A similar app also claims to affect the charging LED, could you add this feature? Their app doesn't work for me and I think it requires root. I'm not rooted and I think you may need root to affect the charging LED but if you could add that it would be great. Especially being able to switch off the charging LED when in night mode!

Any more suggestion ?

It's a very useful app!
After the latest android 2.1 upgrade on my SE X10 mini pro I have some issues with call led notifications though: On my phone missed call notifications work only if incoming call led notifications are also activated (and only when the screen is off). I cannot choose the blinking speed anymore.
As others wrote before I'd love to choose the led color for Gmail notifications (possibly in a different color than sms etc.)
Some useful functions may be to let people customize the notification colors based on RGB values/color chart, assign different call notifications colors for different people in the address book, calendar reminders, etc.
Keep up the good work!

Just the Gmail notification. Maybe even custom colors for certain apps but Gmail for me is the biggest. Thanks for this app! Im willing to pay for a pro version with more features XD

I've found it's not working for me anymore since upgrading to 2.2.2
I had 2.2.1 and it worked fine, now I have a rooted copy of stock 2.2.2 but nothing is working. I made sure no charging was taking place but nothing happens when I use the test features.

It was working fine for me on 2.2.2
If you're still taking requests, Nth-ing the GMail option!

[APP] LeoExtendedNotifications, blink keypad on missed call, sms, email, more [v0.92]

At request of the people in this thread, I made a small app that blinks the keypad when there are notifications.
If you also use KeypadLedControl, you may get some irregular blinking during notifications. Nothing serious.
Features
- Blink keypad on: unread sms, unread mms, unread e-mail, missed calls, reminders (if rom supports it), voicemail
- Configurable via registry & seperate Config application
- Notification timeout after X seconds (300=5min by default)
- Stop notifications after unlocking the phone (only works on compatible lock screens)
- Temporarily stop notifications during phone call
- Configurable blinking sequence (also per notification type)
- Configurable time between repeating sequence
Changelog
v0.92
- Some small fixes by 3dfx
v0.91
- Hopefully fixes issue where keypad wouldn't blink on notifications if there were no specific sequences for that notification type configured (in registry)
v0.9
- Added configuration application
- Popups now automatically close again after a second or so (except for errors, they stay)
- Added nicer icons in start menu/sense (if you're using WM6.5+, might require device restart)
v0.3 to v0.8
- App configurable via registry
- Add support for reminder and voicemail notifications
- Notification timeout after X seconds (300=5min by default)
- Stop notifications after unlocking the phone
- Temporarily stop notifications during phone call
- Configurable blinking sequence (also per notification type)
- Configurable time between repeating sequence
Additional credits
Big thanks to 3dfx. He added a lot of features as you can read throughout this thread.

i am also a little bit worrying about eventually led malfunction when using it all the time.
however i would like the idea to be able to configure a notification timeout.
imagine you get a mail late night and the leds would permanently flash until next day.
best regards, Olioaglio
Thank again Netripper.
Nice addition. Thanks. I see Disable notifications after X minutes is at the top of your todo list. That's fine by me
Really hope Disable notifications after X minutes are made fast

I'm not really worried by that. I think they're regular LEDs and they have an awesome long lifespan. Also the light doesn't really look bright, so I think the leds are very far from being stressed. Although I don't guarantee anything (obviously), I'd be very surprised if any keypad light would break because of this.
I have a little problem here!
I just put your program in my startup folder and now it blinks all the time, although I don't have any missed calls, unread SMS, MMS or email.
What's wrong here?
Already deleted all my messages just to be sure
EDIT: Oh wait, now that I have gone in my call history, it suddenly stopped.
Strange...
Thank you for this great app NetRipper!
thanks to Netripper I don't need the green led to flash any more but can't turn it of tried to turn it off in BSB tweak but it still flashes anyone know the reg to disable?
Works like a charm, thanks!
Very cool.
Cheers mate
just email?
Is it also possible to have just the bar flashing for email only?
Nothing else?
since that is the only notification that isn't working at the moment..
Thanks.
Works Fine.
Thanks.
Hi NetRipper. I have a Touch Diamond 2 (Topaz). When I run the LeoExtendedNotifications_calls_sms_email.exe program, my LED's blink continuously even though I have no notifications of missed calls, emails or SMS's. I have tried the trick by xILukasIx of visiting my call history page, but this has no effect.
I have a WM6.1 stock rom and (if it makes any difference) I use Phonex (which I prefer) and so have my HTC dialer disabled to save ram.
I would love your program to work on my TD2 if possible!
Thanks
Edit:
I think I have solved it now. I created a mortscript to run your program NetRipper. So far, I have managed to do this with emails only. My mortscript goes:
NOTIFY = RegRead (HKCU, "System\State\Messages\totalemail\Unread\", "Count")
If (NOTIFY = 0)
Sleep (2000)
Run ("Program Files\Mortscript\LED.mscr")
EndIf
If (NOTIFY >0)
Run ("Program Files\Mortscript\LeoExtendedNotifications_calls_sm s_email.exe")
Sleep (2000)
Run ("Program Files\Mortscript\LED.mscr")
EndIf
Obviously I have put the above mortscript in the Program Files\Mortscript folder and called it LED.mscr. I have also put your program into the same folder.
Thanks again for your program - I really like the outcome!
Edit 2: No, it doesn't work.... Any ideas anyone???

[APP] Flashlight Alerts 1.5, now supporting lots of phones + email + Google Voice

Hey all,
You may recall the Flashlight Alerts app I released last year for the HTC EVO and a few other phones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6855234&postcount=35
Originally, the app would flash your LED when you received a phone call or when you got a new text message. Right after releasing, I got a bunch of requests for new features and supporting new phones.
Well, I finally found the time and I've now expanded the app so it works with many more phones (including the latest EVO 4G update and Nexus S), and added support for Gmail, Email, K-9 Mail, and Google Voice!
As always, the APK is attached for XDA members.
The app is also available in the Market for $2.99 if you would like to donate:

Let me know what you guys think!
I've been waiting for this to be upgraded for Gingerbread for awhile now. Thanks a ton!
I can see how this can be really useful. Is it possible to make it automatically activate when the phone is set to silent mode? This way when the phone is set to vibrate or sound it not light up?

Thanks for letting us XDA members have this for FREE.......really appreciate it dude! This is one of the best features on my EVO!! Every time I'm in the club or somewhere I can't hear my phone, this is ALWAYS a life saver!! PLUS is a great way to piss off iPhone users....they're like, what's that.....AND I just laugh because they're totally clueless..hahahahaha.....THANKS again dude!!
Many thanks mate. Been waiting for this king of application. Works perfectly on my HD2.
I love it!!! Two thumbs up. Will definitely buy it on Android Market.

I totally agree!
Actually I believe the best feature (in my case) would be to allow the LED to flash every xx seconds. So when my GS2 lies on the table and when I have unread SMS / mail / voice message or a missed call it can remind me to check it!
Perfect settings would allow to set the flash rate (like .-.-.-. or .-.) and the timing for the reminder in seconds (blink every xx seconds).
Anyway that's a great app and a great job!
Works fine on my GS2 2.3.3
Thanks dev!
I have been waiting for an application like this since the day I first tried Android on my HD2.
Thanks for creating this app.
This is terrific and I am going to try this out on my Incredible, as the EVO and Incredible are basically the same.

Would need a time limit too so you could have blink [whatever pattern] every X seconds for Y minutes. Oh and if possible, create different blink patterns for different types of notifications
Works fine with Desire and ReflexS ROM
Thanks so much, I really like this program.
Now it works again also with Gingerbread ROMs.
Best regards
this sounds great can you make this availble for more devices???
Can you add support for htc mail, please. Thanks!
Tested and working on Moto Atrix! Thank you for the great app!
works fine on SGS2

Thanks. Works in my G2X. Now when my phone is faced down I can see the alerts.
Thanks again.

Has anyone encountered a bug that stops your HD2 from charging when this application has been triggered?
I have actually had to disable the app due to this issue. My battery was warm at the time so I will test again tonight.
The orange LED would go out, although android recognised USB was plugged in it refused to charge until I unplugged the cable and put it back in.
I know it has been mentioned in the various threads already, but it could REALLY use an interval setting. Like one flash every minute or something. Personally, if I am there to see the flash in the first place, I knew the phone rang anyway. It's when I wasn't there for the ring, is when it would be very handy to have it flash every few minutes. My phone sits face down in a holster so, I really can use an app like that.

[2.3+]NightLamp: Sleep better at night!

NightLamp turns your phone into an intelligent night light and clock, allowing you to sleep with ease.
If you need a little bit of light before going to bed, this app is perfect for you! It will automatically fade to black after at a preset time. Woke up during the night? Simply tap the screen or activate one of the sensors to turn the light back on again.
If you need a brighter light to move around the house, just flip the phone over and the flashlight will turn on! Woohoo!
You can control the light using various sensors on the phone:
-Flip the phone over to activate the camera flashlight
-Shake the phone to toggle the screen
-The phone responds to the ambient light, turning on and off as needed
-Voice recognition to turn the light on/off using hotwords
Note: Voice recognition is very beta right now.

***Alpha software, may blow up.***
The Android API that involves camera and sensors is a pain to support on all devices, because there is no unified way to do something like turning on the flashlight. So it would have to be supported for each phone model, which takes some time, so be patient as I work the kinks out.
Please do not give negative reviews due to crashes, because this app still needs testing to support a lot of devices...
If you do use the app, please do shoot me an email about your experience with it if possible
Tested to work on Galaxy Nexus so far.

Since it puts the screen at full brightness for a while, I highly recommend hooking the phone to a power source. If you have an AMOLED screen, the power drain from the app while the screen is dim would be small, but it would still drain the battery faster than if the phone is sleeping.
as I tap on Start, it shows a grey clock on white background but I hear a continuous BEEP once every second almost. Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 latest stock firmware ITV
that's the sound the voice recognition beeps to tell you it's listening.
disabling the voice recognition, the sound goes away as well.
You should also enable the android power saving so to reduce cpu and network usage like it almost does in standby.
Nice little app.

Google borked the speech recognizer code in recent versions (since Android 4.1) with a forced beep sound, I tried to mute it but it doesn't seem to work uniformly across devices, so I will have to change the speech recognition engine in the future.
I will look into power saving, thanks for letting me know!
You're welcome!
very nice UI =)

Added a new version where you can swipe the screen to adjust brightness of the front light. Additionally, speech recognition is no longer enabled by default due to bugs.
Cool app. I ended up using it for reading so I don't have to turn a light on but if I fall asleep then it'll fade down and all is well.
Works well on an Asus TF101 running 4.2.2 (katkiss v224 based on eos4). I can confirm the continuous beep bug too with the volume to silent fix.
One thing that would be awesome down the road would be to have a continuous fade of the display brightness over the course of the time you set. For example say you set the fade for 10 minutes, three minutes in it'll have reduced to 70%. Don't know if it's doable but it's just an idea.

No Notification LED for Outlook Emails (OOS 5.1.8)

Using Outlook for Android official Microsoft app, not getting any notification LED lights when I have new emails or reminders. I get the screen off messages coming through on the display, but those only show up for like 5 seconds at a time. With Gmail and other apps, I get those and the notification LED to light up. My settings for LED notifications are normal, and Outlook should be showing, but it isn't working.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix? I'd rather not get some 3rd party LED manager app for one application issue, but I am willing to try.
Saw one other thread on this, but I don't want to factory reset right now. Too much important emails and stuff going on at work to risk the pain of setup again. I also seem to have an issue with notification volume being really loud for Outlook.

Did you ever get an answer? I had to switch over to the Outlook app for work and was having issues as well.
Found some very important things:
LED notifications were disabled in Outlook notification preferences
You need to click on "Event Reminders" and "Mail" (not toggle buttons) in order to see LED notification option to enable (have no idea why it's disabled by default)
You ALSO need to make sure notification sounds are set inside Outlook (I think this issue is Android related)
I set the notification preferences for reminders and emails to be the SYSTEM DEFAULT and after these changes above, LED notifications work for my reminders and emails
Let me know if you want some screenshots! (I'm on OnePlus 5T w/crDroid)

Hmm. I don't see those advanced options in my version 2.2.200. I'll probably root this phone eventually and wipe it clean and start over with either the stock rom + custom kernel or a custom rom/kernel. Maybe that will fix it.
Surely you should try a 3rd party app before wiping and starting over - get lightflow it works great and will get your LED working as you want for any app youd like.

working normally here, maybe this helps

Thank you so much, installed and sent a coffee instantly. I can confirm that it works perfectly for me.
A suggestion:
I am glad that it does not switch on the aod when charging, but some people might want that as an option.

Why wouldn't you want that? You still need to be notified when charging?
Your apps are very useful! Thanks again friend!
Since the proximity sensor is not working properly at the moment and I'm forced to keep AOD off your app is very useful to light up the AOD when my phone is on a table and receives a notification. Thank you very much!!!
Also the instructions and the UI of your app are very easy and intuitive. Great job.
Great work! One issue is any notification from within secure folder will not work with app.
Also people who like me want AOD while charging their phones try Bixby routines.

Because the S10 doesn't have a notification LED i missed a lot notifications.
So i created a little app that uses Samsungs Always On Display (AOD) as notification indicator.
It turns on the AOD on notifications and turns it off when notifications are cleared.
The app has almost zero impact on battery, but gives you a clear visual feedback on incoming notifications.
Sounds simple, but works even better!
Simply select which apps are allowed to turn on Always On Display and get notified on important notifications.
Furthermore you can ignore notifications when the phone is unlocked, so they wont activate the Always On Display.
FEATURES:
Activate Always On Display on notifications
Disable Always On Display when notifications are cleared
Select apps which can turn on Always On Display
Minimal battery consumption

Iam afraid not, otherwise it would be in iPhone sections [emoji14]
Kidding obviously, should work ofcourse. Probably on all versions of the S10, it's posted there as well.

cleverrrr
because at mine doesnt work
I was pretty sure I posted in a thread exactly like this.
Anyway, thank you for your work.
Two important ideas:
1) When I get a notification on whatsapp, it turns AOD on. Great. But if I read the message on Whatsapp Web, AOD stays on until I turn the screen on,. It should disable AOD when the notifaction goes away.
2) It needs a schedule. I want AOD on tap to show + on when new notifcations, except when I go to sleep, then I want it off.
It's a great idea and has future, but for now the Automate flow "AOD LED S10" actually works better for me.
Its the first release, more to come soon
gathering some feedback atm

Sorry, bad wording from my side. I meant, I would not like to have AOD set to 'on' unconditionally when charging. Of course it should do the normal job and come on when a notification comes when charging.
i think its the best app for s10 Notification
Please add the option to just turn AOD for 15 seconds... Not just leaving it on while if have notifications! Great app, thanks!
Tnx for this app.
One question: how setup the AOD Samsung using the app aodNotify?
Awesome app so far! Thanks for creating this. Is it possible to create a setting for timeout feature? For the display to turn off after a period of time?
