Installed rogers Rom on my i897 have you? - Captivate General

so I just installed the Stock rogers Rom on My i897 and will be running some gps tests. so far all the normal stuff works, locked on 10 satellites in about 20 seconds after deleting gps data. was able to root with CL's superoneclick without too much trouble. anyone else with similar experience. Maybe we can compare Jupiter files?

where did u get the rom i wanna try it.

Yes mobile AP and sideloading work by default. I just checked mobile ap and works fine.

okay. that's good... i have downloaded rom posted above... any other precautions? 3button mode working after reflashing rogers firmware?

Does the Rogers Captivate have HSUPA??

NO it doesn't
only galaxy s AFAIK support HSUPA are with european modem, but with it you can't call (if you place eu modem in us phone)

"okay. that's good... i have downloaded rom posted above... any other precautions? 3button mode working after reflashing rogers firmware"
Make sure you back up your EFS folder. just as a precaution. this stores information about your product code and emei unlock code ect. this is very difficult to recreate.

There is an issue with the 850 band using an HSUPA modem.bin, but there's a wor-around for that. It doesn't prevent you from making calls.

apparently is does, noone can't hear you and you can't hear anyone...

thats odd, I just made a call on mine and it worked fine.

Captivates don't have any sd card issues, just the bell vibrant. Rogers did say in the first half of 2011 you'll get the update, were just 4 days in though so keep waiting.

Can we flash it back to stock ROM though? I remember there was talk here about the stock ROM and how we can't flash it back to stock or something, but that was a couple months ago... and I've started to lose track of things here.
Edit: Hmm... Looks like I found a thread on how to get back to the Rogers ROM.

i believe it was infact the kernel that caused the issues, did you build the kernel from bell sources?
DG pulled perception 9 which was not even i9000m based but i think the kernel he built was. perception 9 was rereleased as 9.5 with a different kernel. there were users on that thread reporting sd card problems but very few, still risky. that said the telus rom didnt cause any problems and neither did the i9000 international so i think the captivate is safe. as the software is ready you guys might even beat att to the punch this time! if you get hsupa enabled this time ill definitely flash a rogers rom.
Ignore this message because of a double posting.

I was able to get mine to stock Rogers ROM but I dont know if its able to get EXACTLY like how rogers has. Mine looks like the rogers one but I think it was made off the AT&T one because it has their logo on the bootup and its not JF6 (mine says JI2 unless thats how it is on a stock Rogers I didnt check before I did flashing), I was able to get rid of the AT&T logo but that still bugs me unless someone can confirm this for me.
Yeah. You can get the Rogers stock files somewhere on the forums and just flash it all using Heimdall. Thats what I did after Odin bricked my phone twice ;D. Also, no Froyo yet. Don't expect it any time soon - this IS Rogers we're dealing with.

It isn't Kies that was the issue. This was happening to people well before the 2.2 update and at random times. My girlfriend's Vibrant has gone twice now. Once just randomly force closing everything and then dying while on 2.1, the second one which came from Samsung with 2.2 on it also did the same thing. She is now waiting for phone #3. Hardware has to be a factor.

EDIT: It seems I cant connect to my Vodafone network. Everything else seems to be working.
EDIT2: Root is gone. See if Super One Click can bring it back...Yup got root back .

Hmm, my phone only reads LG-P999-V10f in the Factory Version part of settings. There was a screenshot in an different thread of the Factory Version being LGP999AT-00-v10f-TMO-US-MAR-27-2011. Now this one is LGP999AT-01-V10f-310-260-MAR-27-2011+0.
Does that mean there is 3 different versions of the firmware out there? If so I wonder if any have the 850 Band for AT&T available to select?

It is thought that it may take a modified baseband to make them accessible (although one post in the general section sounded like he received a SIM unlock code from TMO and was told to activate it with an AT&T SIM in the device).
Related to that, the flashing of the G2x Firmware on the Ox2 probably screwed up the baseband on it,as they use different bands. Someone on the Ox2 Forum did the reverse - everything worked but the network connections also

OTA Firmware update UCKH1 released

today I received an Infuse replacement (my old infuse just stopped to connect to data network...) so it was all stock out of the box and it prompted me to update it. It was a 14800KB (ish) download, rebooted, installed it and it is the UCKH1 version.
Hard to tell what new or fixed at this point.

Actually I have confirmed that they have all of the same issues as us. Slower HSPA+ speeds than other phones on their network, lockscreen lag, 15fps video recording, no HDMI, probably other crap I'm forgetting. It was just a half baked release on the part of Samsung and Rogers. The issues just aren't as obvious to them because they never experienced the phone without them.

IIRC, packages for stock Froyo harken from the age where bootloaders were cooked into everything. Flashing incorrect bootloaders is asking for trouble.
Plus, just flash some other ROM for WiFi calling.
I'm having troubles using kies to upgrade to 2.2 froyo. Spoke with tech support and live chat so many times. Followed instructions but still couldn't get it to update.
I'm on T-mobile and really need the wifi calling feature. I thought maybe I'd be able to install T-mobiles version of 2.2 froyo from their Samsung Vibrant on my unlocked Captivate.
Please instruct me on what I should do first? Or is there is a better solution, please advise.
I really like the Captivate and would like to get it to go!

Not 100% true because you can now get bootloader free stock flash packages on this forum.....
But generally, I think this OP is looking at a bad idea.......What to you mean WiFi calling? If you want VoIP, then there are captivate ROMs that are worth looking at that have this feature turned back on.
Good luck !
