I read somewhere that a Nokia CA-75U cable works fine as a TV out cable for the Samsung Galaxy S (i9000) and so did a quick ebay search anf found many "compatible" etc all around £7-20
Anyways did a google and came across one place selling Geniune Nokia ones for an amazing low price of £2.03 I then thought I would get shafted on delivery charges but was even more amazed delivery was £0.01 . So ordered one on Wednesday and got it today.
I can confirm it works perfect, kids are currently watching Toy Story2 from my phone connected to my tv (im even upscaling to 1080p ) and it's working fine

jup, although it disconnect easily, doubt that an original cable would stay in the socket more firmly.. already over 20h video playback through cable with an outstandig picture quality, figuring it's 480p
Anyone know where I can get this same cable for cheap and ships to Canada?

It doesn't disconect easily at all, it's a standard 3.5mm jack if yours is disconnecting all the time its a manufacturing fault not to the correct specification.

Bought one. Arrived today.Works perfect. A big thank you.
Can you guys tell me if there is any "humming" with the sound? I have one of this Nokia cables but it gives me this distortions :/
Probably because of how your volume is set. The idea is to increase the volume on your SGS, not on the TV. If you the volume on your SGS is low and you just turn up the volume on your TV all you're going to do is make the noise more noticeable. Try finding a mid point between too much and too little volume on your SGS. Max volume would be ideal but that would kill your battery.
Just my $0.02. I could be wrong...
Hi, I know what you mean but it's not the case.
It's a strong humming, specially when there is too much "white" on the screen. It varies according to the picture.
Sounds very much like interferance somehow or the cable has the wrong pins set, I cannot really say for sure.
Arkymedes,
Same sh*t
to All: If you had this problem, and it was succesfully solved by replacement of cable , please report which cable did you buy and where.
Still hope it's not a hardware problem, but...

My guess is that's an incorrect image. But that also does suggest there maybe another nokia one that is micro usb that "may" work on the Galaxy.
The nokia one I have is a 3pin 3.5mm jack to svideo and L/R audio
The Galaxy S hdmi out cable uses micro usb to hdmi so it does mean they can output tv from the microsd so the cable you listed could very well work???
And yes if my amp is too high I do get a lot of crappy hiss on the audio I tried a dell cable and that gives the same so its not the nokias fault.
Just ordered one. Cheers OP!

Does anyone know if TV-Out works with this phone? If so, what cable works?
Thanks for any help.
There is no TV-Out port on the Shift. Or am I misunderstanding something here?
On some phones, even though it's not advertised, the headphone jack has a video out section to it... A tv out cable for an ipod or zune (non touch screen versions for both) would work in that case, with rca outputs.
I have no idea if it's on this phone or not... Some phones have had it without advertising it

Yeah for instance on my HTC Incredible it has TV out but is not advertised, so just wondering if anyone knows for sure, before I buy a cable.

But one from walmart, and if it doesn't work, take it back.

Purchased the DINC cables from amazon. They are advertised as microUSB.
However they are not. Will not fit Shift4G microUSB port.
Would love to know if this works!
They might have one through the micro usb, but I think it would most likely be the headphone jack type with the extra section for video, like for an old school ipod

So, Is anyone already tried it..? recently I install CM10 on the device, basically I compared the system with some local phone brand (IMO Discovery S88), it's already ICS Built in and capable to do TV Out through its headphone jack. Can our phone do it too..? hope anyone already test it or just give me some clue on how to do it.

Is the a cable or adapter that at one end is a male micro USB (to plug into the phone) and at the other a female micro USB and stereo port (to plug in a charger and into the aux port in my car)?

Perfect!! That's exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you!!
That looks really cool, does the Galaxy simply send audio out via the 3.5mm jack using the micro usb port? I didn't know that was possible.
Ordered one myself thanks, just what i was looking for my car.
"The set cable can be used for Samsung Galaxy s2 i9100 i9220 s3 i9300 which can offer audio out and recharge at the same time ,however for i9300 OS 4.1.2 or newer maybe can not use!before bid pls pay attention!"
This is off of an EBay listing. Didn't get one because of that.
Can someone please verify if it works?
TIA

I have one, and it worked great with my SIII, but it doesn't work with the S4. Why does Samsung have to mess with stuff that works?
Hopefully someone will release one for the S4, but I haven't found one yet.
Finally got it today, no go. Is there any way we can redirect audio to export via USB? This would be clutch as hell for a car setup.

Like I said, it worked great with my Galaxy SIII, but for some reason it didn't work with the S4. It drove me crazy, as my setup was so clean before.
Anyway, I ordered the adapter from Grom Audio. (Look it up). It was around $100, and was somewhat of a pain to install and setup, but I have it working now and it works great. My old setup had some hiss/background noise occasionally, but this one does not. The sound is excellent. I have it hardwired to the back of my stock stereo, so there are no visible wires. I simply plug the USB into my phone on its dock, and it charges and plays music/pandora/navigation etc. through the car speakers.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I have a USASpec unit already...I was using a FIPO adapter on the ipod end but it was kinda wonky as far as having a stable bluetooth connection. The GROM is also a PIA to install as I would have to disassemble my dash just to plug it in. (The USASpec plugs in via the SAT adapter in my trunk, G35).
I have a feeling this is just a software issue, or at least a resistor issue...I'm not versed in android programming enough to figure it out so hopefully someone that is can figure it out for us.

I'm guessing it's a change in the pin layout in the adaptor. Anyway, now that I have the GROM AUDIO unit, I'm glad that I made the switch. I had to pull apart my dash to do the install, but it was worth it. The sound is much better now, absolutely no background noise or hiss.
I want to get something to plug my g5 into an HDMI port, but so far I haven't found any conclusive evidence that the g5 supports mhl or slimport adapters. I've also seen some of those hubs for the macbook or chrome pixel, but I can't find any indication those would work either.
Anyone have any on hand that they've verified to work? Ideally I'd like a hub that has a USB 3.0 a port, HDMI port, and another USB c port for charging.
I bought a Cable Matters USB type C male to HDMI female, tried it out, feels like the LG G5 goes at 15 fps or at least lower than 24fps and my minimal testing confirms 2ch (nothing more than that) support, felt a little too disgusted with the quality (mind you, still played 1080p) and lack of overall resolution. I would definitely love to hear others input from other people with different products as well. I'm hoping it isn't like this with everything else.

I'd imagine (read, hope) that would just be a function of a cheap adapter. Due to the fact that the g5 can drive the vr goggles at a decent framrate, I would think 1080p 30hz would be no big deal for it.
I'm going to bite the bullet and buy one of those adapters off of Amazon. Specifically this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01BSJVY7Y/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A14L9DIA3NK9B0

Bad news
Well, only bad news. The g5 doesn't even recognize there's an HDMI port there. I'll fiddle with some settings but I have a feeling it's not going to work. The USB 3 port kept mounting/unmounting every few seconds, and when it did stay mounted, I only got transfer speeds of 2MBps. The charging worked though. 1/3 is a bad ratio IMO.
UPDATE!!!!1!1!1ONE!!!
So I'm slightly retarded, I didn't have the input on my stereo receiver set to the input the phone was on. Once I changed the input, it worked like a charm. It's 1080p 24hz and only 2 channel audio, but I think the audio is an Android limitation. Also I guess es file explorer just didn't like my flash drive cuz an actual portable hard drive worked great on the USB 3 port.

Awesome! I would be so down for this, but I have a surround sound setup and 2ch is something I can't get past, unfortunately. Have you tried the stock video app or VLC to stream for the audio?
I have streamed through the Google Cast, but sometimes my files would be too large over my network or the streaming apps like AllCast would only support some audio types, VLC can stream but its just too muffled and not that great over network.

Way ahead of you, im typing this with a wireless logitech keyboard also mouse works great! I'd never actually used a mouse/keyboard with android before and im surprised at how nice it is.
Update: for those curious, it also suports USB hubs. I only tried a 2.0 cuz I don't have e a 3.0 hub. However multiple USB storage devices gave it issues, but I don't see why one would need more than 1 of those at any given time.
Per the developer website the G5 should have display port alternate mode (maybe only 2 channel) on the type C connector. Some of the mono-price adapters should allow you to use this but I haven't tried one yet.
For video out I got the cheapest usb type c to vga adaptor I could find on Amazon (the brand is Techvilla) and it works perfectly.

With that adapter can you charge while playing video?
For football season I normally find a working mobile version & then deal with casting to my TV, but the casting has been less then stable so if I can hard wire it would be awesome. Need to be able to charge simultaneously though to make it through a full day (even a normal non QC is good enough).

I used it last weekend, you can charge it while using it, but the percentage didn't actually go up. It stayed the same over the 2+hours I was watching. It may have just been my power source though (cheap battery bank). As long as you start with a decent charge you should be fine for extended periods.

Hi!
I own the similar noname adapter. It works fine, but sometimes it spontaneously disconnects. And i can't guess is it a problem in the phone's firmware or in the adapter itself.
Have you encountered this?
I have the Samsung Multiport Adapter for my Galaxy TabPro S, so I figured I could hook up the G5 to the adapter. The picture shows up on the TV, but I don't hear any sound. Need to try more when I've got more time. I'm also curious if passthrough charging and USB works... that'd be rather cool, though I don't know what I could use it for. Maybe run Kodi...?
Everyone knows normal 3.5mm audio adapter are not fit for Essential phone due to DAC chipset required. But when you are listening to music, you cannot charge your phone.
Now i recommend a 2 in 1 adapter for you!
What's special?
1. Hi-Res sound quality with a qualified DAC - 96KHz/24 Bits
2. Max 3A PD fast charging
3. You can do 1+2 above at the same time
Here is link for you:
https://amzn.to/2mi2BXL
You will never stop the movie/game on your Essential and pull off the headphone, put on the power and continue with a speaker again.
Thanks for sharing , I ordered one and it works
I'd like to see a video review and some photos of this if possible, the way this post was written sounds like an advertisement of your own product, or a product you got for free from the manufacturer (no offense). Also wondering if it's fully USB-C spec compliant so there won't be any voltage issues when using it.

Happy to tell you, i developed this product, but sell by my friend.
I am open to collect all issues to improve it and listen to public what else they need.
Due to this product needs to be different with normal 2 in 1 usb c adapter (without DAC), the inside design is different. That's why all other 2 in 1 adapters cannot work with external DAC required phones, except for Moshi's. They are totally 2 different stories standing on development point.
For normal usb c adapters, the resistor lays in usb c end, however for this kind of adapters, the components have to put on the motherboard. That is to say, the motherboard will take all the risks and devices won't. The motherboard is 3 inch away from your phone, the heat won't affect the phone.
For voltage issue you are concerning, 5V comes out from power supply all the way, 2A charging into phone. One thing i have to mention: use original power supply to charge!
You are welcome to ask other users from another thread below who got this adapter!

I actually purchased it to test it out. Audio quality is definitely better than the included 48kHz adapter, but I'm running into a problem with it right out of the box. There's a pulsing clicking/popping noise that can occasionally be heard at a low volume in quarter second intervals when headphones are plugged into the adapter and you're on a screen with no sound playing (volume of the phone has no bearing on this) There's also some static when switching between screens with no sound. The OEM 3.5mm adapter doesn't have these problems. Also, the clicking/popping noise can also be heard when the adapter is plugged plugged into the wall with USB-C but not plugged into the phone. So it doesn't really matter where it's plugged into, but if there's a power source, the noise is heard. I'm thinking mine may have been a dud, but would like to hear from you or the seller on wether or not this is a normal occurrence. Sent an email to your friend, the seller, yesterday, waiting for him/her to get back to me now regarding getting a possible replacement.

Your problem should not happen, lets see how the replacement works.
I suggest below plugging steps:
1. plug the wall charger to adapter
2. plug the adapter to phone
3. plug headphone to adapter
waiting for your report on replacement.

Thanks! I'll try that from here on out. I realized I used the wrong words to describe the noise in my last post, the sound is actually more like a digital beep. It doesn't sound like distortion (well, the static when switching screens does), but more like something you'd hear from an error message popup in rapid succession.
The product you developed is very good other than this though. The audio quality is better than the OEM adapter and charging is fast. I'm excited to use this as a part of my daily routine!
I did have some observations regarding the design though if you'll hear me out - especially in regards to the cable you used. The cable is very flexible, which may make it more comfortable to use, but I have doubts on how well it can hold up. In my experience, the thiner and less rigid the cable, the more likely it is to fail. If the cable was more rigid and half the length it may hold up longer. I'm sure you have done more testing than I have in this regard though, so after a few months of use I could give you some better findings.

Thanks my friend. Your voice is always important to me.
For the sounding like distortion when switching screens, lets test the replacement;
For the cable, don't worry, this is best cable we are using. My partner factory is a professional cable manufacturer for 10 years and they has all kinds of cable. This one is the most expensive one. Check the copper inside by cutting it off! Come back to me within 1 year if the cable has problem.

I actually got the replacement very quickly, and I haven't noticed the beeping noise again yet, but the static/white noise is still there when I switch screens. It doesn't happen with the OEM adapter, but it's something that's present with this one. I tried 5 pairs of headphones and found that it varies in intensity depending on which pair I'm using. The best pair I used was a pair of Nox earbuds (discontinued brand), while the worst were JVC. JBL, Xiaomi, and TaoTronics all tested about the same. When switching screens/apps with no volume playing, there's a initial pop of static, followed by a second or so of white noise before it goes away. The Nox buds were the only pair of headphones I tried that only had the initial pop (no white noise following), and at a lower volume than the others I tested. It's almost as if it's trying to pick up on sound that should be playing on the new screen, but once it can't find any it gives up. It may just be a device specific problem as I haven't seen anything regarding this on the Pixel thread, and it's not something serious that will make or break the product, but it is a minor annoyance. Since the replacement had the same problem, I'm assuming it's something that will be true for all stock.
Edit: After a few days the beeping showed up on the replacement as well. Oh well, it still works great if sound is actually playing, but if you're like me and just have your headphones plugged in all the time, it's not something that would replace the OEM adapter (for the 3.5mm adapter only).
Thanks My friend,
It is really a helpful review from you! I have asked other testers also using an Essential phone but they don't have the problem like yours. However, as long as you find problem, i have the responsibility to find them out and fix it. These days i have been looking for several essential phone users to test and waiting for there reports. Meanwhile i am also asking my team to simulate your case and fix that problem, but that need time. Although the phone model is same, it needs time and lucks to re-appear the same problem you have.
Thank you for your wonderful report, i won't ruin your hard work.

Works great for phones with no headphone (3.5) jack. I have the Essential Phone and being able to charge and listen to music/movies via 3.5 jack at the same time has been awesome. The sound is just as good or better than the USB C to 3.5 jack that came with the phone. This should have been included in the box when the phone arrived. I loaded Viper up and it sounds even better. I will be buying again for my other phones..
Thanks so much Johnny for helping test!
I am also looking forward to know whether you have the same problem with the friend in above comments? He is also using an Essential Phone, but he found some problem when using.
I know you are busy, take your time and test it for more days before reports.
As a developer i am eager to kill all imperfect things and make it zero issue to everyone.
Thanks!

I have not had the pop sound/noise when switching apps or anything else. It really has been great. I am rooted running viper though.

I'm going to see if I can record the sound somehow. I'm curious as to wether it would play when connected to a speaker - I'll try that next. Kind of odd that I'm the only one who has reports of the extra noises. 2 out of 2 adapters I've tried both had the problem though, so I don't think it's a coincidence. I've also tried the adapters on 2 different Essential Phones and had the same results.
Finnaly an adapter that looks like it works as advertised .
Do you maybe have an EU store too, so that I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for customs and shipping?
Can't wait to enjoy charging and watching a movie at the same time!
To be honest, manufacturers should include an adapter like this by default if they decide to remove 3.5mm port and DAC.
Kind Regards

For voltage issue you are concerning, 5V comes out from power supply all the way, 2A charging into phone. One thing i have to mention: use original power supply to charge!

So this adapter charges at lower output than OEM (3A)?
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
Yes lower than 3A for smartphones. Only when you use it on laptop like Macbook will reach 3A max.
For PH-1, the max current reach 2.5A max. If you have facebook, i can send you a video showing the charging voltage/current/watt

It's the same, only more expensive. And the eBay one isn't in any fancy packing.

Well, I finally got around to testing the to I have. One is the original that came with my HTC U11. The other is the one that came with the Pixel 2. The official one from HTC is 10x better in sound quality. I was amazed at the difference it makes with a high level audio system.
The one made by Razer sounds amazing too! Much better than using the Sonic headphones that came with the phone.

That's what all of these adapters are for... plugging your 3.5mm headset jack into the adapter, so it can be used with the USB-C port.

Will the inline mic and control buttons work as well? I want to make sure this isn't just for listening only.

Shiiiiit.. It plays awsome!!!!!! ?
since literally noone in the entire forum wants to bother saying the answer, the answer is yes
Do we know if the pixel's 2XL headset Adapter 3.5mm in the box, fits properly with HTC U12+ ?
So that i won't need to buy a separate adapter for HTC
Thanks
It's crazy how much they cost., and it's just to adapt to the majority of headset/earplugs, which have a 3.5 mm jack.
Shame shame shame on those oems who replaced the jack with the USB-C.
here are the ones i bought and they are cheap and work good on the U12+ Unlocked
https://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-C-Adap...var=562800782136&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
I ordered a couple other adapters because I have been looking for one that would charge the phone while listening to it at same time am waiting on those to arrive will update later to see if they work.

I am looking for a adapter usb c also.. Apart the HTC adapter, it does not have much that seems to work. Your link i am not sure is working fine.. also in your link the seller said: Not compatible with Google Pixel, Essential phone, ZTE and HTC phones.
HTC U12+ Head Phone Adapters
I received these 2 adapters yesterday.
( https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-in1-USB-...var=651311904806&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 ) ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Type-C...var=651248873591&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 ) :crying::crying::crying:
NEITHER of these work ONLY CHARGE Phone. Same error POPUP
My previous post for the other adapters DO work but they are only Head Phone adapters ONLY.
( hence this is why I am looking for an adapter that will charge the phone while connected to my home stereo AUX input )
The HTC U12+ is COMPLETELY STOCK (NO ROOT or special software installed in it )
I even went to the point as to resetting and wiping out the phone since i really do not have much on it so I was not going to loose anything .
You can use "Audio Router" app to use these adapters (they are not working because there is no DAC inside).
