Version 1.0.2
Updated 11/12/2010
Screenshots, downloads, and changelog in second post!
Why SyndicateROM?
SyndicateROM is designed from the ground up for stability, battery life, and most of all, speed! The entire system has been slimmed - not merely by APK removal, but from the ground up. Every aspect of the system has been examined - and is still being examined - to find unneccesary components, and root them out. What does this do for you? Simple - it frees up storage for your personal choice of apps, reduces overall memory usage, and reduces running services, thus freeing up CPU cycles and returning some of your all-important battery life.
(Naturally, any ROM is a work in progress - and even more great things are to come!)
In addition to the system-level tweaks and optimizations (including full OptiPNG optimization of APKs, removal of non-HDPI resources and non-English language packs, and more), SyndicateROM is designed to give users choice. Already, we have multiple themes (note - these are coming soon), and three different "editions" - see below! Whatever you're looking for in an Epic ROM, keep scrolling - you'll find it here.
What's in SyndicateROM?SyndicateROM is:
based on DI18
kernel rooted
deodexed
zip-aligned
PNG-optimized
hand-tweaked from the ground up
SyndicateROM includes:
LauncherPro
Evo YouTube (YouTube 2.0.26 is buggy)
Wireless Tether (working out of box!)
Wired Tether (working out of box!)
AOSP lock screen
Astro file manager
ROM Manager
Android 2.2 Market
fully up-to-date Google Apps
Fascinate music player (Disc View works, no Shop button FC!)
Desk Clock (no force closes, music button works!)
GenieWidget
Car Home (From Vibrant, stable and fully functional)
AppWidgetPicker
WiFi Status
Spare Parts
Numerous visual tweaks (new app icons, custom startup/shutdown animations, new wallpaper)
Adobe Reader (fills conspicuous PDF viewing hole!)
Ad blocking in apps and browser
Browser homepage changed to Google
Xtreme Kernel! (undervolt, overclock, RNDIS, and much more!)
ES File Manager (Better than Astro!)
No "battery full" popup, sound, or screen on
Naturally, in all versions, the Sprintware and Samsung widgets have been removed. All but Fully Loaded are nearly Sprint/Samsung-free!
In addition, SyndicateROM "Fully Loaded" includes:
Full line of live wallpapers
Ringtones from Nexus One and Samsung Moment
Thinkfree Office
Flash Lite
Social Network Sync
ADW Launcher
Vibrant TouchWiz 3.0
Home Switcher
AllShare

All of our TeamViper Devs, Themers, Ticket Support Specialists and Testers sorry there are way too many of you to list but thank you all for helping me through what was a pretty rough time with starting a new job, constructing my future daughters room and trying to complete my first of many ROMS to come. You guys and gals all deserve a round of beers....and if you don't drink then Hawaiian Punch it is! If you feel that I have used your work with out proper credits please PM me and I will get it fixed immediately!
Thanks to everyone for being patient with me in this release and not begging for this. Please keep that mentality in the future when I or whoever from TeamViper releases a project or hints of releasing a project.
Last but certainly not least we all know that BThomas22x has been deployed to Japan to help in the relief efforts over there. Lord knows they need it badly. I wish him nothing but the best and hope he returns safely.
I have also taken OP of BThomas22x's Samsung Epic 4G Cookbook Thread . Thanks goes to theimpaler747 for letting me have this and understanding the situation. I am NOT taking credit for this thread but my intentions are keeping it updated. BThomas22x would not want it to go to waste I know that for a fact.
My motivation here on XDA is driven by helping, teaching and learning as much as I possibly can. Other people have taught me and continue to teach me so the least I can do is return the favor and make some new friends along the way. Thanks again to everyone for your support.
Rodderik's Corner: (always under construction)
You guys really need to give it up to tphillips. He has spent many hours preparing the next ViperROM incarnation. With out him it would not be what it is now. Be sure to at least thanks button if nothing else!! Great job TP!
The kernel in this version of ViperROM I have made official as 0.4a so any question or curiosities that are kernel related should be directed to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11491730

Good work TP. Always awesome to see hard work come to a finished product.
Just so y'all know, the wiki (see my sig) should be updated at latest by tomorrow evening with all the latest installation info, most likely it will be up tonight.
As always, check the wiki first, then ask questions here. And for any little nasties that pop up, the ticket system is always available.
Cheers big ears!

Hey Whitehawkx, been running this great ROM since you posted it at Rootz. Just curious, what is the reason for steps 5 and 6? What happens after first boot that requires a factory reset?

Someone already answered it, but I would like to point out that the sd read ahead will always say unknown, instead of the 3072 it should say after flashing the shot.
That being said- on rootswiki, someone (possibly White) mentioned that after each reboot, it always goes back to 2048, regardless of what it was set on. Either way, sd read ahead is working, and the shot seems to do what it has always done- make everything just a little better.
Really do not feel the need to try anything else.
Someone mentioned the ADW bug (and I pointed it out in the video too).... I am the BIGGEST ADW EX fan there is.... but the last update left me willing to try new launchers.
Check out Launcher 360. It is in the Androids App section.... pretty amazing performance and it never seems to get reset. Themes a plenty and cool tweaks.
EDIT, here is a link to LAUNCHER 360
I did a video for it too... I only had it for about 10 minutes so I am still learning in the video. Sorry for all the "umms" - I was also trying to watch my 3 year old girl running around, ha.
Wow, 64m heap. Are there any downsides to that?
Very smooth rom I must say. Hope battery life is equally good, will try out.
Thanks for the hard work!
PS: I'm a big GoLauncher EX fan and would recommend to anyone to give it a try.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
So far great this running great, its fast and amazing.
I do have one issue I was wondering if anyone else have had. Whenever I try to download a zip file from the web, it says "unknown file download unsuccessful." I found this out while trying to download zip files from xda, then try it on other sites, the same problem persist.
Things I did:
I followed instructions to the word.
I added lighting zap tweak to remove fps cap which also came with other tweaks.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

FAQ
Q. I try to download from the ota and I always get "download unsucessful. How do I fix this?
A. Many have stated that trying a browser other than stock will help...Opera, Dolphin, etc should work. If you prefer to use stock...try this: Download Astro File Explorer, open preferences, and scroll to the bottom and select "enable browser downloads"...then download like a good boy should!

To start, remember to go HERE and get some fonts
THIS is a great place to get icons which can easily be changed in Go Launcher and ADW.
For Video, Zen Arcade (thank him often for this) did some great work for us and here is some info regarding playback. Via Zen:
stock video player: limited - does not play .avi, .mov, .wmv
Mobo Player: better - plays all formats I tested, but no sound for .avi, .mov
MX Player: best - plays all formats I tested with sound and better visual quality than Mobo.
For MX, you need to download both the MX Player and the MX Player ARMv7 CODEC.
Play with the base for a bit before you try the themes. This one has some good stuff, be sure to check in settings to get to the OTA
Downloading cant wait to try it out

[ROM][2012-12-18 | 2012-12-14] Lewa OS

Lewa OS
I will probably update this less frequently, maybe once or twice a month. I no longer use my Evo 4G.
LeWa ("Happy/Funny Frog") comes to us from China and is a MIUI-inspired ROM based on CyanogenMod 7. It's an incredibly lightweight ROM made primarily for yesteryear devices comparable in specifications to our Evo 4Gs. Don't let its sub-100 MB size fool you, though. It's still filled to the brim with features, such as built-in power and battery management, CPU control, and memory clearing. I can confidently recommend LeWa for daily use.
This ROM is stable out of the box. I try to keep my modifications to a minimum and stick to the spirit of the original work.

Tips
- Double-tapping the lock icon on the lock screen will bring up music controls.
- Press volume-down and menu at the same time to take a screenshot.
- Pressing on the data usage statistics in the notification panel will bring you to a screen where you can slide to the right to change your "Monthly data limit."
- Pressing the green orb in the notification panel will kill all open apps. Holding it will bring up its whitelist. (You likely want to add your input methods (Swype, Swiftkey, etc) to this.)
- You may put *.apk files in /sdcard/APK/ to have them automatically install when flashing the ROM.
- If you're a chatterbox, be sure to turn on SMS splitting in Message Settings.
This is a pretty solid ROM. Its official versions are released for both MDPI and HDPI devices, and most of the devices that LeWa supports are on the weaker side of the hardware specification spectrum. As such, there should not be any lag or resource issues with the Evo 4G. Indeed the vanilla ROM weighs in at ~75 MB and with my additions, it weighs in at ~95 MB.
Notable Changes
- Mason-G-d15rc4-sbc-supersonic has been added.
- QuickPic replaces stock gallery app.
- MX Player has been added.
- Mi FileExplorer replaces LeWa's "SD Manager."
- Jorte Calendar replaces "Calendar 365"
- A themed version of Swype has been added.
- Swapper, CStore, Gexin, and other unlocalized apps have been removed.
- WiMAX has been added.
- CMParts has been added.
- Battery Bar has been added.
- PDroid has been added.
- MIUI Torch has been added.
- Modded News & Weather has been added.
- Modded Play Store has been added.
Known Issues
Ordered by descending priority.
[!] The ICS lock screen available in the theme manager will ruin your day. Do not download it. There are multiple reports of it causing the phone not to boot.

Swiperat - remove roaming indicator
ajrty33 - auto-connect to data network without having to go to APN settings
LOTK & Team DIRT - I learned quite a bit tinkering with Deck's ReLoaded.
LeWa OS Team - developing the user experience that's built into this ROM
CyanogenMod Team - developing drivers, APIs, frameworks, and resolving many device-specific issues, all of which made porting this a breeze.
AOSP - developing the core components and framework of Android.
Honorable Mentions
MIUI - provide much of the design inspiration that goes into LeWa OS
MIUI.us, Swiperat, et al. - major kudos to you guys for your work on porting MIUI. I can only imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would be to port one of these ROMs without a CyanogenMod base. You bros deserve special recognition for that.
Common Concerns and Queries
Please read through these before asking for help.
- Circaflex offers some guidance to get Visual Voice Mail (VVM) working.
- s8perman confirms that this ROM works with a2sd.
- Backlight is activated on incoming message, and there doesn't appear to be a way to disable that functionality.
- RockoDev Beats Audio can be added by downloading and flashing "ICS & GB BeatsAudio"
Never was a fan of cm's rc releases so I'm giving the experimental a go. Does 4G work? I see Wimax was added. Thanks for releasing

You know what? That's one thing I haven't really tested. I've used Mason kernel with it, and that seems to work fine. I haven't tested beyond that, though. I'd expect that any kernel that works with CM7 will work with this.

It's the second one with the CM nightly and LeWa 12.6.8. The experimental one will always be more updated.
I'm avoiding more traditional terms like "beta," "final," etc. because those generally indicate stability. The experimental release isn't necessarily less stable than the primary release. It's simply less tested. For all I know, it might offer more as far as stability goes.
How about a2sd? can I flash the a2sd zip by darktremor or no support for a2sd?

Havent tested hotspot but for the apps i found this odd as well, there is no app drawer which i know from MIUI but i couldnt find them on the screens either. Somehow i stumbled upon edit your screen then at the bottom it will say shortcut and you can scroll through your apps and add them to the homescreen. Or just switch launchers and youll get an app drawer.
EDIT: just tried hotspot using the built in utility and I am getting the same error, unable to actually establish an internet connection.
Are you running papa smurf scripts? I am, just so OP has an idea if its the rom or scripts if you arent using them its a ROM issue.

April 2013: A year ago this month AT&T finally brought Gingerbread to the Infuse with the official UCLB3 release. (We had it two months earlier but that's a different story). This came well over a year after Gingerbread was generally available. Echoing that amazing level of procrastination I present to you, presumably the last of its kind, r.e.v.e.n.a.n.t
Good stuff it has:
New UCLB3-based kernel with features merged in from Infusion-Z and Entropy DD plus additional enhancements and improvements (see Synthesis kernel OP for details)
Self-deodexed stock-based (UCLB3) firmware (using auto-deodex tools adapted from crt60 Captivate scripts)
Customizations (*) - Lidroid toggles, Extended Power Menu, CRT Off animation, Volume key wake (when lockscreen is off)
Themed apks - Frameworks, SystemUI, Settings, Dialer, Phone, Contacts, MMS, EPM, Lidroid/QuickPanel
init.d performance tweaks from Infuse Toolkit
50+ wallpapers
10 additional fonts (*)
Other novel features including - zombies, honeycombs, Voodoo lagfix lady 2.0, and Charles Dickens!
Added apps:
Ad Blocker
AnTuTu Benchmark
AnTuTu CPU Master
Bootlog Uptime
CifsManager
CPUSpy
cron4phone
ES File Explorer
Faster Fix
Tiny Flashlight
GoLauncher
Google Voice
QuickPanel (Lidroid)
QuickPic
SGS Kernel Flasher
Superuser
TextWarrior
Google Apps updated:
Gmail
GoogleQuickSearchBox
Maps
MusicPlayer
Play Store
TalkBack
VoiceSearch
YouTube
Good stuff not included:
Custom lock screens - Sorry , maybe try the pattern lock?
Bad stuff it has not:
attwifi auto-connect (gone!) - you can still connect manually to an AT&T hotspot when needed
wifi battery drain bug - aka bt-amp bug - (gone!) [in the battery graph above, the wifi bug started and was stopped about halfway through]
build.prop tweaks - a mixed blessing at best, if you want them you are on your own
Removed apps:
Including some things you may miss, but in the spirit of bringing things back, commonly used apps (highlighted) can be reloaded, or you can load the whole mess via update packages linked below.

Stuff it does:
Everything the stock UCLB3 firmware does (including HDMI/mhl out, 720p video recording/playback, and household chores)
Stuff it doesn't do:
Unnecessarily drain battery
SOD (your mileage may vary after installing other apps)
Installation Instructions:
Make a backup of anything you might want to recover before flashing (use Nandroid or TiBu)
Full wipe done automatically - sdcard storage not touched - no need to wipe before flashing
Wifi AP configs preserved - if you are currently running a GB rom your wifi access points will be available upon first boot

I realize it's pretty late in the game for a new GB ROM. This one was built with stability in mind and keeps pretty close to stock, outside of theming and added apps. Settings.apk got a smali edit to remove the autoconnect to attwifi.
The real story with this rom is the new kernel. If you are running GB and have battery drain issues with wifi enabled, the new Synthesis kernel fixes them. For more info click the kernel link in my sig.
First!!
Hehe..first!!
Nice Job, Bro.
Drain Free at last!!!!!
All joking aside, this ROM runs on Zen's GB "munge" kernel. Stock UCLB3 GB kernel with different wifi drivers from other later devices. I've noted that it had reduced the wifi drain bug. Zen has included a fix that will also stop the drain once it starts.
...ummmm...does this come in JB flavors?
Thanks Zen :good:

Is there a boot animation, because I flashed this lastnight, had no boot image just the cyanogen mod. Full wipe/cache/then flashed.. Anything I did wrong? Or just gotta give it more time, it sat there for five minutes.

Thanks, really enjoy this ROM
Just now got this on my phone. THANK YOU! loving it so far. Will return in couple of days after get it set up and let it settle in. Looks like this may be my main ROM for a awhile

would google contact sync up with GB? I was thinking going back with this rom for a short time to see how GB was since its been a long while. My only thing s I really like Holo HD launcher that would be one of the things that would keep me going back unless there s a simular launcher for this rom.

On GB, Google accounts will sync contacts as long as you don't have another type of account configured to do so.
As for Holo, the HD version is ICS+. The original Holo launcher, which is very similar, is still available and works on GB --->

This has to be the absolute best video drivers we have had for the Infuse. My graphics have never been this sharp and clear.
Thanks again!
By the way ,I think that is the highest quadrant I've ever gotten with this phone.
Later tonight I am probably gonna delete all my init d's, restore build props.and see how the battery does, I know what kind of performance it is capable of. That score was ALL tweaks in toolkit plus a handful in systemtuner while being undervolted pretty heavy(100 at top and last two left alone) so it's stable no doubt.
