Went from Fresh 3.3 to 3.4 and can not get the app ringdroid to work. It worked fine before the update. I have not gotten a response in the Fresh developer thread so I am putting it here. I wiped before I flashed, and after the update was installed, ringdroid would give force close errors every time. I had someone else with a htc phone to download/installed ringdroid and it worked for him on his phone. I then uninstalled the app, re-downloaded it and reinstalled the app and every time I open it, I get "the application ringdroid (process com, ringdroid) has stopped unexpectedly and my options are force close or report. Reported about 2 days to the developer but no response yet. I like this app for making my bootanimation music file due to my limited computer skills. Working with Mac so, is someone can help or mention a Mac software that I can get the same results would be great. I have tried other ringtone maker apps in the market and they all force close once opened or when trying to save a new ringtone made. Did I lose a file that is causing this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ian B

I just got the SGs4G and was trying to remove bloat, and accidently removed the My Account 1.0 and now I can't use the default Internet app keep getting the (Process com.android.browser) error. This normally wouldn't bother me, but I use the Voice Search often and that's default for the search soft key. Ideas on how to restore functions? I've done 3 factory resets, each doing nothing helpful. I've searched around and could find nothing on restoring.
Thanks for any help.
Grab myaccount from the market.

I have installed it from the market but it did nothing to help. Did I delete something that cannot be replaced?
the MyAccount app shouldn't have dependencies. I'll look into this once I get the loaner device I am being sent to get CWM working.

Try downloading the bloat.zip here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996340
Then get the MyAccount-4-4-25.apk inside there and put it in your sd card and push it to your system/app folder.
Hopefully that will work.
Obviously you have root..
Are you running a firewall program on your phone like "Droidwall" ?
I also uninstalled the OEM version of MyAccount & when i downloaded the OTA version it wouldn't work because the firewall was set to disallow it.
Also when you removed the "MyAccount" what did you do it with? I could be you have a partial uninstall & the browser is looking for a hook that isn't there anymore that it thinks should be there.
The bloatware zip worked. Later for some reason the phone started lagging badly and T-Mobile swapped it instore. Worked for me. Thanks everyone.
When I go 2 cbs full web site and try to click on video, I get a message saying that this video is being blocked bcuz I have an ad blocker or the video is no longer available. I went 2 my apps & uninstalled adfree & rebooted but still get same message. The app is showing up in tb still, but it is showing up as crossed out cuz I deleted my backups of the app there. Can someone please help that knows anything about adblockers cuz I have no idea what 2 do. Samsung advised me that I should probably master clear my phone, but that would b a pain in my azz.
You will need to down adfree again. Open it up and hit the "revert" button. That will restore your hosts. Then reboot and you will be fine. Even though you deleted the app, it still changed your host files. After you have reverted and rebooted, you can uninstall again.

Thanks jayharper...I did a restore of adfree from TB, then hit the revert button in the app & rebooted & CBS works like a charm! Now do I still have 2 uninstall adfree or can I leave it as is since my flash vids r working on CBS?

Phiremod ....- Video, Netflix, Facebook
Running Phiremod 7 Test 2. Constantly getting "android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly." It interrupts my typing. Comes up every 5 seconds! Also, Facebook, Netflix not working. Plus, video on CBS won't play and says "Video is unavailable or is being blocked by an ad blocker on the browser.' Could REALLY use some help!

Running "fix permissions" from recovery could take care of your force close problem.

Thanks, I had already run Fix Permissions and rebooted. The android.process.media error does seem to have stopped. Any ideas about Facebook or Netflix not operating and force-closing? Thanks again for the reply.

I would "clear data" of both applications (via manage applications), reboot to recovery, wipe cache partition and dalvik cache, then reboot (it will take a while to boot).

Thanks again, but now again android.process.media is popping up every 5 seconds. The 5 icons at the bottom are now + signs. I found a way to change the icons and have them operate for various functions. I will attempt Fix Permissions again for the error popping up. And Netflix and Facebook still don't run. I just flashed to Phiremod 7 two days ago & haven't been able to get them to run. Re-downloaded them but no luck... : (

That's weird. Did you wipe data when flashing?
Sent from the most interesting device in the world.
I did indeed. So, I re-flashed and got the icons and functions back. Still no Facebook, Netflix, but now oddly, YouTube is working. : ) I'll leave well-enough alone. Would love to get online video running and especially Netflix. But thanks for the replies.

That would've been my next suggestion (re-flashing). I'm not sure about Netflix, but I'd expect Facebook to be working. Hm, idk. I've uninstalled mine because it was holding a wakelock longer than I'd prefer.

Hm, I replied to you but don't see the post. I did wipe data when flashing. It was part of the instructions. Anyway, I'll be happy with things as they are for now, but would really like to get video online running and especially Netflix. Thanks again for trying to help.

No problem. Maybe someone else will know how to completely work out your kinks.
Good luck.
Ok so I have been working on trying to fix this one for a while with no luck.
The sound of notifications and ringtones play while the phone is in silent and vibrate mode. The modes effectively do nothing.
This does not occur when the phone is freshly loaded (Ex: Factory Reset)
It has persisted over rooted stock rom and blazers rom.
I have played with every option in settings I can think of to no avail, though I may have missed something.
I have done fac resets and then restored with titanium, and it happens.
I have done fac resets and manually put back important apps and sound settings and it happens.
If someone can help me figure this out it would make my day.
Here is what I just did with a fresh install, cleared all data/cache through CWM.
Installed ROM
Installed these apps:
adobe flash/read
amazon
andro zip
armored defense
auto sms
titanium backup
facebook
barcode scanner
battlenet auth
bookmarks to sd
cerberus sec
chrome

Signed into facebook and synced contacts.
Signed into a school corporate sync email account via the email app.
Signed into a yahoo email account via the email app.
restored texts via sms.
Restored nova via nova backup.
Set display background/lockscreen.
Set custom mp3 ringtones/notifications. (Checked what is selected has no effect)
If no one has any ideas then it would seem my next step is to reset - then go step by step through all of those processes testing with a test after each. I dread the thought, so please help.
Honestly it sounds like a defect, but I don't understand why it wouldn't be fixed with a flashed rom. Have you tried a new rom and a custom kernal? Or even a reflash of a verified stock kernal should do the trick.
It may sound stupid, but if the kernal doesn't work, I'd say as a quick fix just use airplane mode until you can get into your cell providers store. Just make sure to flash to stock everything before taking it in.

I made a mistake in the op. I meant to say it does not happen when factory reset but just does happen after it is set up so something during that process must be the cause
Changing to cyanogenmod fixed this issue for me.
I have a (4GB) Tronsmart TS7 (some times known as a Alps Glacier TS7). It's a Chinese MTK6589 based phone running Android 4.2 purchased from geekbuying.
For the most part the device is stock, there are next to no pre-installed apps apart from the usual, and the only additional apps I have installed are: Playstation, Steam, ColorNote, Shuttle+, Root Explorer DI Radio, Chrome & Gmail
The problem I have is that there are apps appearing on the device that I am not installing. So far it has been the same set of apps that appear:
Mobo Market
UC Browser
TrustGo Security
DU Battery Saver
337 Game Master
GameCenter
(there may be more)
These apps don't start appearing right after a factory reset, but start to arrive 1-2weeks later. They also seem to be packaged similarly; when I say packaged I mean opening them seems to prompt with the same menu & style (accept licence etc) before it gets to the main app. Also, after you open the app from the app drawer it then creates an icon on the desktop. Maybe opening it actually does the installing?
The apps themselves seem to be legit.
I have factory reset the device (twice), and changed my Google password but they are still appearing. They don't show up in my Play store history so they must be coming from elsewhere.
My main concern is that if it is downloading things without my permission, what might it be uploading ? Not to mention wasting my 3g data etc.
So I have a few questions:
Should I be (really) worried?
Is there a way to monitor this? eg connect to a wifi hotspot and packet capture the network traffic? or maybe use a process monitor (the ones I've tried so far haven't shown anything) to see if there is some sort of script in the background?
Can it be stopped?
Thanks in advance, I would be interested to know if anyone else has/had this problem?
I have the same problem.
I haven't tried flashing some other ROM yet, but I guess that is the only way to get it to stop installing those things.
Have you actually found any other roms to install?
For anybody's information:
You may have noticed how you always end up with a 'Tronsmart.mp4' video file appearing in your gallery app. This is damn annoying since it appears twice, once on the internal and once on the external SD card. There is an '\system\app\CopyTest.apk' file which creates both of these. Should be safe to delete it and thus prevent the file(s) appearing
I have actually decompiled this apk. It works as a service that runs when MEDIA_UNMOUNTED or MEDIA_MOUNTED is invoked, and does absolutely nothing else.
I have the same problem, those random apps installing and the video always in my gallery. I have managed to stop tge apps by using a firewall and allowing only my apps that i want to use the internet. I havent found a solution though to fix the problem. Probably tronsmart is spamming its customers...

What Firewall did you use? I might be able to use something like that to pinpoint the app that's causing this.
Sory for the late reply. I am usin "android firewall" free from google play store.
USB debugging disabled stopped it on mine
edit: not that easy, wasn't enough. made some cleanup by disabing/removing some system apps. seems to work so far although there are still some strange events like superuser crashing and right after that system downloader.apk reappearing. haven't seen any other junk coming back
these are the apk's i removed:
systemupdateassistant
systemdownloader
omacp
mtkbt
midtest
galaxy4
fusedlocation
engineermode
engineermodesim
cds_info

Hi, I am running Cyanogenmod 11.0-InstallerXNPQ32P on Android version 4.4.4 on a Samsung Galaxy S4.
I stupidly removed the dialer app and various others that I didn't think I needed (calendar etc) using the System Uninstaller (Root) app which I got from the Google Play Store. I didn't think I needed the stock dialer app as I use another dialer version which I downloaded from Google Play Store. I now know this was wrong!
Now, whenever someone calls me, the screen illuminates (showing my home page) and the phone vibrates as if it is notifying me of the call. However, I am not informed who is actually calling me and I am not given the option to answer or reject the call etc.
When I open the dialer that I use (True Phone) I can dial a number or call a contact etc as I normally would. However, instead of taking me to the screen to hang up, access the dial pad etc it stays on the True Phone page. I therefore cannot hang up the call. So if the person I am trying to call doesn't answer or the call goes to their answer machine I cannot hang up without selecting airplane mode or restarting the phone.
When removing the apps I thought I would be reasonably safe as the app I used to remove them (System Uninstaller (Root)) from the Google play store states that the 'deleted' apps would remain in its recycle bin and could be restored at any time. Maybe I should have known better. When I press on the recycle bin button within the app it says there are no removed apps - even though there are. If I navigate to the recycle bin folder using ES File Explorer I can see all of the backups of the apps that have been removed. But, annoyingly, the app will not recognise the backups - even though it made them itself! The backups are .conf.backup format.
I have emailed the app developer numerous times asking for help but he/she is ignoring me.
I have been researching how to get the dialer app back etc but have now discovered there is also a problem with part of my system. While I can install apps from the Google Play Store, trying to install any other apk file leaves me with the message, "Unfortunately, Package Installer has stopped."
If I go to Settings/Apps/All and select Package Installer I get, "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" and it kicks me back out to the main Settings page.
I would be extremely grateful if someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction as to how to fix these problems and get my phone back working as it was. I know I have been stupid in removing the dialer in the first place.
Unfortunately I am not really that great when it comes to the various mods and will require layman's terms if possible... Sorry

dont worry! the same happened to me. just download the stock rom, extract the apk from system.img its named as like phone.apk or dialer.apk , and install it. this should solve your issue
Thanks very much for replying my post. The post is quite old now and I have sorted it. I had to flash the stock rom back on (i had cyanogenmod installed). It was a pain and took a while but I got there in the end. Thanks again though. I don't know how to close this thread
