Well i have got this strange situation here...
Basically a few days back i've downloaded some download manager from the market and it doesn't work!!
so i go to the uninstall app and just uninstall it... next i want to change my home so inorder to clear the default Sense UI Home set on my HTC TATTOO I go to the manage applications and it force closes!! and when i go to market i'm not able to download any app...it says DOWNLOAD NOT SUCCESSFUL!!
this is really annoying and after that i find out that my browser is also not able to download anything... so i'm not able to do anything....please can anyone help me out???
Thanks in advance!!
Have you tried a battery pull?
yeah it doesn't work....

Sounds like the app had rights it shouldn't have. What was the name of the download manager?
If I were you I would backup all your the you've downloaded and then do a factory reset, maybe try wiping the cache first before you do it though.
I assume you're not rooted? Otherwise this would be an easy fix.
Name was...Download Service!
I did reset to factory defaults...now everything is working fine...and yeah I've rooted my phone...
Can you please tell me the best way to backup data

I've got a question regarding titanium backup.
I've installed the ARHD 3.6.0 ROM. Installed all my apps, setup my desktop screen exactly how I want it & finally FROZE via titanium backup pro, all the applications I don't want showing in my drawer.
Can anyone give me a dummies guide on how to make a carbon copy of my exact setup please? So that when I install a new update like 3.6.1, I can just run that backup file and it will freeze all my unwanted applications & set my desktop back to how it was..
Do I need to buy a different piece of software to achieve this?
Thank you

Hi,
You just want to be able to port all your settings from one ROM to another.
It all depends on the "base" of the new ROM.
If it's the SAME "base" then you can just wipe your cache partition and dalvik, install the ROM and keep all your settings intact.
If it's a DIFFERENT "base",then there is no way of porting your settings. If you did,it would cause conflicts down the road.
With a different based ROM you can carry across your app DATA using Titanium Backup.
What you cannot do ,is carry across "system data". Again this will create conflicts after a while.Even with a same based ROM.
What you have done with your freezing and everything ,is change system data. This cannot be ported between ROMS.Sorry.
Hope all that makes sense.
Thanks for your response.
I find this incredibly hard to believe.. Im not saying what you are saying isnt true. But surely to god there must be some sort of backup software that can see that I've frozen things like "Dock Mode" & "Downloads" create an image of the files I've frozen, once I then install an update to my ROM I select that backup to run and & goes through & freezes the things I had frozen before...
Im freezing things out of my App drawer, so I dont have hundreds of icons in there... Im not freezing any system files or anything like that...
Its literally things like:
Adobe Reader
Connected Media
Dock Mode
Downloads
Flashlight
FM Radio
Friend Stream
Google Search
HTB HUB
HTC Likes...
etc etc. Just things that create icons with my app drawer that I'll never use.
Thanks
You can save desktop settings and data from apps when switching roms. You would have to freeze those apps again on a clean install of a new rom. Its the best and cleanest way possible to ensure the installation is running at its peak. Just freeze the apps you don't want again. I haven't tried an app that remembers and backs up frozen apps.
I think it will be easier if I get the Package Names of all the Apps I wanna freeze then everytime I install a new ROM, just 'pm disable' the list of package names via the terminal emulator.

Hi,
I know what you are saying.
You just want to get from one ROM to the next with the minimum of faffing around.
Like I said ,going to a new ROM with the same base is easy.
Otherwise it's a COMPLETE re-installation.
On another note ,if you look on mike's [OP] just above the changelog section, there is a thing called "ROM CLEANER"
I have not used this, but I believe you can remove any apk or app you do not want to use ,BEFORE the installation.

that is what I want exactly. Titanium should remember what has been frozen and freeze them next time when I flashed a new ROM.
Any other tools can do this?
This should not be difficult to implement. Any other tool can do this?

In the premium version there is a setting that says Auto-Sync TB settings. Tick this. Then follow this guide and you will Freeze all the apps you had no matter how many Roms you change.

For what you want a nandroid backup is much easier. Just go to recovery and make a backup. If you want to restore just superwipe and restore the backup from recovery again, and everything will be exactly in the state as when you made the backup.

I would like to start by saying this is entirely my fault but I would be very grateful for any help.
So, I downloaded a custom launcher called touchwiz 4.5 onto my phone and everything was working perfectly until I decided to open up root explorer and try to change the name so it would run in the background instead of TW3. So I did it but when I pressed home it asked me which launcher to use and I selected the wrong one and the set as default was checked. Now, I am stuck without a launcher so I can not open anything at all to fix the problem.
I will be extremely happy if I do not need to buy a new phone and thank anyone in advance.

Left Soft Key -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Find & select the TW4.5 launcher or whatever in the list -> scroll down to Launch by default -> Clear defaults.
Thanks, but there is one thing I forgot to mention earlier. I cannot access the main screen because I receive force close messages while the phone is on, and there is no delay between them so I cannot even use it. I was thinking maybe there is a way through the computer.

You have a root so you gave cwm recovery, correct?

Look up Odin in the Bible. You can use it to restore the phone. If you can make a backup of your micro SD onto a computer. Other than that if you deleted your launcher your phones gonna keep FCing on you. Cool thing to try to delete though.
ADB Push the apk(s) back over?
Your best bet would be to just go into CWM, create a NAND backup, Odin a new ROM, and advanced restore your NAND's data. That should clear up everything.
Using ADB is not that easy, especially when you're new to all this stuff.
Everyone should be forced to learn.basic adb commands before being able to root their phones for problems just like this.

My market allows me to download and delete apps, However whenever i go to the section "my apps" the market always force closes. When it does that it says: "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Ive turned mt Xoom off numerous times and still have this problem. Has this happen to anyone else? Does Anyone know how to fix this?
My Xoom is stock. Wifi
Go to settings , applications , manage applications , and finally , click on all . Scroll down to market and select it , clear data , cache , and force stop . When you reopen the market accept the terms and you should be good to go .

I've tried that multiple times and still it does the same thing. Ive done it and restarted the Xoom. Ive done it without restarting. Nothing is working. Any other ideas?
Not really a lot more you can do, you've already cleared the Market settings. next step from here would be a factory reset I think... unless someone else has any ideas?
try settings /applications. Go to market and uninstall updates for the market otherwise sounds like a factory reset.

Go to dataviz and download the documents to go directly from the site and it will fix the fc's.

first i thought u were crazy or just trying to advertise that app, however i went and tried to manually update that app and it force closed, then i went and uninstalled it and now my market is back to normal. Thanx Sir. Cutos to you!!!!
If your having this problem just Delete DOCUMENTS TO GO
OK, Here is what I have: I have a Samusung admire, Metro Pcs. New just rooted today.
I was removing all the metro crap (using titanium) when I deleted the MMS being I wasent using it, I use the go sms pro.
Well to come to find out you kinda need the mms that was installed on the phone, so now im trying to get it back on there...
Here is my issue I am having:
I go to system, apps and I see the MMS there, when when I try and install it, it says not installed. so I extrated files and tryed it again, same thing, of course Im not sure if Im doing this right. By the way I do open the superpermission on it.
What am I doing wrong, can anyone please give me advice on how to install this?
If you didn't make a Titanium backup of your stuff before you started removing things, you're out of luck my friend and it's factory reset time for you
If you ever have doubts about removing things using a program like Titanium, pick the 'freeze' option instead of the 'delete' option. This will halt the process and stop it running in the background and consuming memory, but you can 'unfreeze' and restore it to normal should freezing cause issues.
No such luck with deletion, of course
Let me know how you get on. Good luck!
Try asking someonee to upload the mms apk
Sent from my HTC_A510c using XDA App
That's weird. I've deleted the stock MMS.apk tons of times without a single problem
Do adb push
adb push MMS.apk system/app
After this set permissions to chmod 644 reboot and your good to go

So, I wanted to do a factory reset on My old Sensation so I could give it to my dad. I did it, but I forgot that I removed default home application from it. And since I removed my account from it, there is no GoLauncher Ex on it theat I used either, so I can't see any screen, menus, nothing. All I can do is I am able to use notification bar and view settings. I have no backup anywhere. Why did I ever even root you ask if I am not computer or phoney savy, well, because I wanted to remove some apps, so here I am now. Any ideas?

Could I simply install GoLauncher on it somehow?
IF you have a another android phone or a computer you could enable bluetooth and send the apk file wich is go launcher. You can search Google "go launcher apk download".

Press thanks if it helped
You can install it by using sdk using a computer but my guess is that you dont know how to do that so just download the official ruu if you are bootloader lock or there are many stock rooted roms if u have s-off and have a custom recovery...
I mean no disrespect by assuming u cant flash an apk through sdk on a pc...
Forgot to mention there is a third and easier way which is to find a launcher zip that can be flashed on recovery like touchwiz from the galaxy s3 then you can flash then you can install any other app out of the play store and remove or keep the flashed launcher just in case you reset the phone again...

Best thing to do is. Download golauncher apk file to your computer then either you send it via Bluetooth,or you can create or have account in any file sharing site eg. Box or dropbox. Uploaded to that then make file as for sharing to friends, you will get specific wab address to access that file then download from ur phone. You will see download in dropdown notification menu install file from there.

Thanks guys, you are right, I don't know how to flash, no offence taken, I just wanted to share an easy solution, perhaps someone messes up like I did some day, in settings I went to TTS and pretended to want to download English files. That lauched Market for me and I just downloaded Go Launcher from there. I was just veeeeery lucky.
