So I was playing with LauncherPro and discovered there's a 3D gallery in the phone now, and it is much much more sleek than mediascape.
When LauncherPro was set as the default home, press the menu button, preferences, Appearance Settings, Dock Background, select custom, and then the 3d gallery appears!!
Anyone know how to access this gallery without all those annoying steps, and use it like a regular app? Screenshots are posted here:

I saw this last night when i was playing around with the picture frame widget...looks pretty good
long press screen, then shortcuts, activities, then select gallery. Easy peasy
i also saw it last night and it really amazed me, quite fast and looks really good

here ya go
Yeah, I love this gallery.
Two questions:
1. Is there a way to add it to the app drawer in LauncherPro?
2. It doesn't really seem that 3d, as the only time it tilts to show the wall is when I reach the end. What am I doing wrong? I've used Cooliris and know how it should work.
Gallery 3D is only the name, its an CoolIris gallery.
The 3D parts is only when you scroll horizontally in the collections.
No actual 3D presentation more than that.

I get that. I've used Cooliris in Chrome on my PC.
It's kind of hard to describe, but when I pan across my galleries (either using either a swipe motion or the slide scroller at the bottom of the app) they simply scroll by flat. The "wall" doesn't tilt away from the point of view and pan across at a perspective angle as it does in Cooliris. The only time I see the "wall" perspective effect, is when I reach the end of the gallery and try to pan further.
Using readily available online images as an example, this is what I expect to see::

Whereas this is what I actually see:
Very true. Lol.. this question should be forwared to CoolIris forum instead. The other funny thing is that when you tilt your phone, the gallery is also tilted.

OK. Interesting. I hadn't noticed the phone tilt thing. Cool, though less useful IMO than tilting the wall when you scroll.

That DON'T distort when zooming in?

Is there any app that doesn't absolutely destroy the image like this when zooming in? (Why the hell did Google do this crap...)
Any other solutions on the Windows side would be welcome too. (I tried printing to pdf, and printing to 17x22 scaled up, but still looks like garbage when zoomed in on the phone, yet perfect on my PC. Any other ideas?)
Following this subject with interest. noticed my pics from my nikon g11 looked like crap in gallery as well, while beautyful on my computer.
I thought it was just my pictures.
I couldn't understand it as they were taken with £700 Digital SLR.
Thinking about it now they are pixel perfect on my PC also.
Hmmm, disturbing this one.
Great, it's not just me!
Yes I'm having trouble with this too

Thanks, this works a little bit better. Unfortunately, I think this is just an Android limitation.
I did find however, that if I zoomed in on my PC, took a print screen, saved as another png, and then used pinch and zoom on the new image on my phone, it did not distort at all, finally. Quite a hassle, but I guess Android just doesn't like zooming.
It's asinine to load up a 2,000px X 2,000px image in it's entirety to dsiplay on an 800x600 screen.
The gallery probably downscales it to 800x600 size and zooms in on that temporary scaled picture.
(substitiute 800x600 with whatever resolution the nexus is)

Exactly. There should be no "temporarily scaled picture". The picture is *physically and actually* changed, which should not be happening.
Especially on this so called "Superphone", there should be no reason that it mutilates pictures so that pixels are completely destroyed when zooming in.
quick question that doesn't need its own thread.
I am trying to install the Nemo Player .apk
When I download the file it downloaded as nemoplayer.apk.zip So I tried in my terminal while in fastboot ./adb-mac install nemoplayer.apk.zip and it said it could find the file. I had the file in the SD card, and in my SDK folder. And I also tried astro, but that didn't work either.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Cheers!

Unzip it
So I've noticed that with Multitouch Gallery, the picture is the clearest of all when zooming in, but still distorts if it's TOO wide or very square.
It will always attempt to fit the width of picture in the width of the phone. So best bet is to have a picture that's very tall and very slim. A square picture or an extremely wide picture is the worst, and will look absolutely terrible when zooming in.
The fact that Google coded it so that it absolutely must fit width-wize, and then distort when zooming in, is absolutely stupid.
Bump, for that banding thread

I was thinking about a stand alone organized app drawer ( by stand alone i mean like "all apps organizer, you can find it on market).
This was my concept (very childish paint but you shoud get it)
{

}
The main objective of the app drawer is to have all the apps organized by type in the same "screen" and if they does not fit into one screen you can down scroll to see the remaining apps, just like a normal app drawer. Then to change type (like games, apps, utility, internet etc) just side scrool.
Everything would be organized alphabetically on a screen and there should be the ability to move an app throug the screen to change category. Last "screen" should be uncategorized and over there will be placed all the installed apps to be moved on the right category manually.
i don't know if this has been made but i think it could be a very good app drawer
sorry my english and say what you think about this concept
This post is to find someone that would like to develop this
There is something similar in ADW LauncherEX.
You can create groups of programs and swipe through them on the app drawer. Although it doesn't have any transition between the groups, it just changes, which is a bit dull.
I do love the idea though
i really like the concept!
This is a really great idea!
I think it would be even cooler if the app categorized the apps for you. If it gets a few wrong, you would still be able to move it to a different screen. I would hate going through each app to add it, if you know what I mean.
That's more like the webos style, pages and categories of apps. I like this design a lot.

This is MY IDEA!!
The day I bought my Captivate several months ago, its the first thing I thought of that Android could do with its app drawer that would make it awesome. Have all apps categorized by user created categories and then in alphabetical order with new programs automatically going into these categories or else placed in a temporary folder for the user to categorize them later on.
And then for navigation you could have a side scrolling menu that lists all the categories so that you can immediately jump to that category at the touch of a button. I have it completely mapped out how it would work in my mind, but unfortunately I have zero programming capabilities. Crap.
This is a very neat concept. I think it would be really cool for the app drawer to categorize all of your apps for you by default. Obviously there should be room to reorganize and create your own categories of apps as well.
Very neat!

Categorizing things is annoying just the first time then just install and move the application. With multi select it would be fast to move application.
The only thing we need now is a developer
I agree this is an awesome idea and would be much easier to use than the standard app drawer
By the way, the app AppCat is vaguelly similar to this idea but not very user friendly but i dont know if that helps with anything
RDS
I know this is on webOS phones, but great idea for Android! Sometimes I feel my app drawer is too cluttered, loving the idea.
I'm trying appcat to see what it is.
EDIT:
YEs, it categorizes verything but too many categories and is not ok for daily use as main app drawer. too long to find an app between those categories and interface
take a look at appGrouper aswell it may be closer to what you are looking for
RDS
actually, look at the home replacement tag home. It's app drawer is very close to what you want and is quite a nice launcher alternative

We made a video tutorial on how to use it in case some of you don't get some parts of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGsa-EAtkDM
You can also download it from the market here: <Paid version><Free versions>
Really amazing concept.
What is the difference between the two versions?
I think preference is spelled wrongly as well.
No way to redorder widgets?
Hey! Thanks for the kind words, let me answer your questions:
1. The difference right now is the paid version dosen't have an add in the app drawer, although that add is not producing that much revenue anyway. So the paid version is just basically to support us. So far it's paying the electricity bill but it's only doing that mind you.
2. Where is it spelt wrong?
3. Yeah you can, it should explain that in the video. If it dosen't: you just press the bar next to the widget, and then press the bar of a different widget and they will get swapped.
i like your choice for a name
are you limited to only having 6-7 icons on the screen?
Ads in a launcher are a no-go. Why not just disable an option or add something special to the paid version?
I will never use a launcher that features advertisements - the free version of the W7 launcher is the only other one I can think of, and I used it for all of 2 minutes before the ads drove me insane.
@GoneMADSoftware No you can have as many as you want in that strip in the middle
@Braneless You do have a point since right now we are making nothing off the adds, except people complaining about their existence. I'll think of something that the paid version will feature so the users will use it.
I looks cool

Like the look of the launcher a lot, if we could move widgets themselves it would be nicer, if you only have one widget you can't move it... also not all of my apps show in the list. More home screens and icons would be nice, no landscape mode, it cuts it off and the ability to scroll makes the launcher move around in portrait mode landscape just doesn't look right.
Great concept, keep up the work guys and I agree, great name for a launcher.

If you only have one widget you can move it arou... I don't follow. It's a widget list, like an app list, a lists start at the top therefore the first (and in this case only) widget would be at the top... where else would it be? I mean it's clearly a list of widgets so where else would you have it?
The fact that not all of you apps still baffles me. I just can't seem to find a way that works to get all the apps, properly, on all model phones. The way its done now seems to be the standard one and it works on most phones... what model phone do you have? I'll think of something... I do have 2, 1000-or more page android books lined up to read, if only my E-book reader would arrive this century, but i digress.
More home screens... i'd rather use the one home screen that exists already and expand it sideways with more branches. So you can add more icons and what-not. If i just add more screens it's like every other launcher out there.
I don't want it to have a landscape mode and i will probably remove the dodgy landscape that it has right now since it looks very wired. The launcher moves a bit in portrait mode because on a HVGA or QVGA screen the picture itself is bigger than the screen of the phone therefore a QVGA user won't be able to see all the icons without scrolling. I do admit that the slight movement of scrolling that it dose right not is a tad annoying and i will get around to fixing that; but there are only so many hours in the day and i've been having huge issues with sony xperia phones not displaying the icons of apps since yesterday so... need break!
Cheers for your feedback though!
Suggestion
Cool concept. Being able to select the icons on the home screen would be nice. Like the look of the stock ones from the launcher but prefer to use different SMS and Launcher apps. Having those apps Icon's mixed with the Stock phone etc. is less clean then it could be. Keep up the good work
Floating Paint. Trace anything you want to keep in a picture.
- floating windows (StandOut 2.1 by Mark Wei/pingpongboss)
- change transparancy of each window to trace what's laying under the window
- select one from several colors
- resize, move, shrink windows
- save, rename, delete, send pictures
Download on Google Play :good:
I appreciate any kind of feedback

Wow that app is really cool and unique! However there is one big problem when I'm using it, okay it's maybe only whem I'm using it! Its really annoying that the backscreen is black-transparentblack, I would love the app if I could change it somehow to white! It would help when reading white pdfs etc. and making notes. It would be really good change for all tiny apps but I for my use it only bothered me when I was using the painting thing... And then eraser is also missing, but thats not as bad thing!
If set up like this will be transparency.

PrecieUX: Opulence is a one-click-applicable home screen decoration pack for BuzzLauncher users. Even if you have never used BuzzLauncher before, you can easily apply this beautiful home screen on your own device (whichever phone it may be) with a few clicks. If you do find it appealing, how-to-apply procedures are prepared for you at the bottom of this post.
Before moving on, please watch the teaser video I've prepared for you. I took time and care producing this video, so please watch in HD!
As the video read, certain privileges are available to only a number of special people. . . people like you. Opulence will bring the luxurious life-style that you deserve to your phone.
Ground up photoshopped matching pixel-to-pixel accuracy, tile-icons boast elegant details in even the phones with the highest resolution available in market today: Full HD (1920 x 1080). Designed and developed using Samsung's flagship Galaxy S4, Opulence is compatible with devices with other resolutions such as but not limited to HD (1280 x 720) or WVGA (800 x 480). Do not worry whether Opulence is going to look the same on your phone, because BuzzLauncher will automatically adjust layout and size of icons for your phone, whichever screen-size or resolution it may have.
Opulence is composed of 3 tabs: Main, Media and RSS. When you're in each of the three tabs, bottom of the tab you're in will glow to indicate the tab you're in. To switch to a certain tab, simply touch the tab you wish to switch to. Switching tab-to-tab is simply gorgeous: it feels like turning on a light-bulb by pressing on it.
The first tab of Opulence is "Main". Graceful widgets intuitively deliver to you information regarding date, time, your schedule, location and the weather. It has never been easier to see the important information so conveniently and so tastefully. Bottom third of the screen has short-cuts to the most necessary functions of your smartphone: downloading new applications, contacting your friends through social network services (folder containing short-cuts to different apps) and using your telephony services. The bottom dock is constant in all 3 tabs. Left tells you the percentage of battery you have left, and right tells you the time. Pressing the "Apps" icon will summon your phone's app-drawer that has all of your applications.
The second tab is your playground. It is worth a lot to live up to tight schedules, but sometimes you should enjoy good music or watch sensational movies. A big album-art of the album you're listening to decorates your second tab, so this tab will be automatically personalised to you individually according to the music you prefer. Without having to leave your home-screen, you can control your music player using the stylish control-icons already prepared for you. The Internet icon connects you to Google Chrome (but the short-cut can be directed to another application if you prefer another browser), and the Multimedia icon is a folder that contains apps most frequently used when listening to music or viewing your pictures and videos.
The third tab, as its name implies, has a gigantic RSS reader widget. Just pull out your phone from your pocket and unlock; the information you want to read will be updated and ready for you. (Press the bottom right corner of the RSS widget to add/remove RSS feeds). If the website you like does not support RSS, you can also choose to make bookmarks to your favorite websites and store them in the Bookmarks folder on the same screen.
