[Q] moto q ESN Question - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Hello,
I got a bad esn Moto q on Verizon.
I want to use it on another carrier.
I am not able to understand do i need to monster flash the same and load the generic prl and then play with the carrier operated prl settings or change/repair the ESN for the same.
The carrier is accepting another network phones so its not a problem.
Thanks

Sprint Touch Pro2 on PagePlus?

Can you activate a Sprint Touch Pro2 on PagePlus?
Mine is Security & SIM unlocked, currently using an AT&T SIM card. Wonder about combining it with PagePlus on the CDMA network. That doesn't use a SIM card does it? I switched my network setting to CDMA only, and activated my phone on PagePlus and was told to dial *22890 or *228, but it didn't do anything.
pageplus
Anyone know exactly what you have to do to get a Sprint Touch Pro2 phone to work on PagePlus?
they would have to add the esn or meid to their database and "accept" the phone. good luck soldier.

Don't waste your time. Ive been trying since the 13th to get VZW to add my ESN to their DB. your best bet is to do an ESN modification.
Page Plus will activate any unlocked CDMA phone. It can't be that difficult. Email their customer service and see what they say.
ACtivated but no data
Sprint Touch Pro2 now activated on PagePlus, but only text and voice. I've used EPST & QPST to alter settings, but can't get data.
Anyone successful at this?

Maybe you should flash a cooked ROM on it and do the Verizon provisioning. That might get your data going...

No, I haven't done it. I activated a Verizon phone on Page Plus for a friend a while back, but that is the only experience I have with them.
Maybe put one of the cooked ROMs that is made for Verizon on your phone. That would essentially turn it into a Verizon phone, so I don't see what difference there could be.

I guess that is a possibility as both roms are CDMA. I would research it carefully beforehand. If you can get txt and voice there shouldn't be any reason you can't get data. sd

The Sprint TP2 (which the OP said he was using) is a CDMA/GSM world phone.
Which means it has a SIM card for the GSM radio in addition to an ESN for the CDMA radio.
Just because the phone takes a SIM card doesn't mean it is GSM only.

and i mixed them both! Im pulling my hair out man! there has got to be somebody that knows something.
there is no way we cant find away around this like for metro or cricket. i had a diamond and touch pro with data and mms on metro and pageplus is a very cheap company that doesnt even have a server to begin with. when they activated my phone they got me on file for a samsung flip phone!

I've seen a couple posts on PPC Geeks where people have got Sprint Touch Pro 2's working on Verizon. I would imagine it's probably the exact same process to get it working on Page Plus.
Maybe you should search for people that got it working on Verizon. I would imagine you'll have better luck that way.

htc touch pro2 on boost help

i have htc tp2 on sprint bad esn tryin to connect to sprint boost and anyhelp my problem is esn i dont know if sprint boost going to accept it or not if not i have the incognito can i swap esn# and how
Well, as far as I know Boost only has CDMA coverage in Las Vegas (I very well may be wrong). That would only be problem number 1 there.
Your best bet may be to just look around a bit or use some of the more popular search engines and you should find the kind of thing that you would need.
mayme not
maybe not, since the ESN is bad for activation on sprint, and boost CDMA uses the Sprint ESN Database...maybe you can call sprint cust service, and ask then if the esn is clean or clear, if they say no then try to convince them to try and activate the phone with a "Dummy account", this way the phone gets activated and then released, thus clearing the esn...this worked with a BlackBerry that was attached to another account for non-payment...
you have do a esn swap that is u need to have sprint account,it gives u an option to switch phone and enter the bad esn #,after it goes thru switch it back to the original esn that clear it an then call boost it should go through.

Will that magically change the radio transceiver from VZW's 700MHz to Sprint's 800?
I don't know anything about flashing the phone, but from what I have read, Verizon uses CDMA 800, and I think only uses 700 MHZ for LTE.
I am pretty sure both Verizon and Sprint use the same frequency for regular CDMA.
Sprint's network won't see your phone unless your IMEI is in their list. Boost furthermore usually won't even activate Sprint phones, they usually only activate phones that have their name on the back of them, and therefore are in their MEID whitelist. Your Droid's MEID is not on Sprint's list, it's on Verizon's. Of course, like in some other guides, it is sometimes possible to change the MEID, but that's shifty business and could get you into serious trouble, so I wouldn't delve too far into that.
If you want to verify that your phone is indeed compatible with Boost, you could drop a Boost PRL on it. Your phone will show always roaming, and dialing *611 will bring you to Sprint's customer service instead of Verizon's. (But their customer service will boot you because you're not a customer.)

Is There a CDMA On/Off Setting?

With GSM it's easy - you take out your SIM card, and you are off that SIM's network.
Presumably the Nexus 5 will work for voice and 3G without the SIM card. Is there some way to turn off CDMA (yes, I know that if there is no SIM I can just turn off all cellular data. But that's not my question.)
If you mean temporarily, you can always do the old standby of airplane mode. Enable airplane mode, then enable whatever wireless services you want (Wifi, Bluetooth). The airplane mode will keep the cellular modem completely off.

Now that the phone has been out in the wild for a while does anyone know the answer to this question?
The N5 does not allow voice or 3g without a sim for some reason. Perhaps someone will figure out a way to bypass this check at some point.
You can also pick and choose between gsm only, cdma only, lte only etc no problem.

So if you take out the SIM, and you are on Sprint, you can't make phone calls or use 3G data?
I know the Sprint LTE Iphones will work if the SIM is removed, just without LTE.
Maybe that's just a way of keeping things clear to the user - your phone has the identity of whatever SIM you have in at any given time.

I don't think it is compatible with any other CDMA only provider - certainly not with Verizon. Who else is there? Metro is going GSM/LTE.
Or perhaps the SIM is necessary to pick the CDMA provider - most CDMA phones are carreir specific, and they just default to the carrier associated with the phone. In other words, if you turn on an unactivated Sprint or Verizon phone, it automatically goes to the correct carrier. If the Nexus 5 has access to more than one CDMA carrier, perhaps the SIM is the method of selecting the carrier.

PagePlus is one who runs on Verizon and allows any phone. No LTE tho with them.
Also, The carrier on most CDMA phone is determined by the PRL file. This tells the phone which towers to communicate with and it can be changed.

Presumably then the PRL is preloaded on the Nexus 5 - hence it knows to look for Sprint.
I believe Page Plus as a Verizon MVNO and will only activate Verizon phones, or their own (Page Plus) phones.

They will activate any CDM phone for a except few exceptions such as if the phone is ESN banned on Verizon, PrePaid Verizon phones, Verizon iphones and Verizon blackberry devices. It's a well known unofficial policy.

Due to hearing that problem I might look at a S4 or something. I generally like the build quality of Samsung much better than LG.

Interesting, but doesn't really make sense that 3G data is unavailable. If you put a GSM LTE SIM in and select CDMA only, will it make calls on Sprint? (Don't mean to tell you what to do, but I think it would be an interesting thing to find out if you were so inclined.)

I guess I really don't understand how CDMA works. With GSM, if the phone is unlocked, it works on any network. CDMA always seems to involve flashing. Although I believe there is so me sort of lock on CDMA phones as well (after all, MSL = Master Subsidy Lock.) I wonder if the CDMA side of the phone is locked to Sprint (we know from other posts there is an MSL code for these phones.)

In my experience, none of the *#*#xxxxx#*#* codes work without the SIM inserted. You might even need to be activated on Sprint at the time.
Just to clarify, CDMA in this thread includes WCDMA(3g) too?
So the phone will either go GSM or LTE only, which 3g or HSDPA/HSPA are not available by options?

From what I saw online, the moto g doesn't work with tracfone. In theory, if boost uses Verizon's network then it may be possible - eventually.
Funny thing is that tracfone also uses GSM networks but this option isn't available for unlocked GSM phones.

Boost uses Sprint's Network which TracFone, Net10 & Straight Talk(ALL Owned by same person) all use as well. Now if their system will take the Device's meid in the BYOD then you could try it via Stock boost firmware or either load the Verizon Firmware like flashing to Page Plus or Have someone else do it for you if you are not comfy doing it. I have a Boost Moto G I put the Stock Verizon Firmware on & now use it on Page Plus so if you need it done get ahold of me.
TracFone, Net10 & Straight Talk all use all 4 Major Carrier's Towers= AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint & Verizon
What I don't get is Tracfone asks for you MEID so even if you have VZW firmware
