is it me or has the deskclock option been removed? On my previous devices i have had the option to select this so that when it is on charge at night it also acts as as a bedside clock.
On the One s the only think i can see is under 'clock' it says world clock and there is a picture of a planet with different time zones but not actually a digital clock showing the time.
Am i missing something somewhere?
Basically i want a digital clock that can double as an alarm clock to have when the phone is on charge at night....would be great if it could also turn off the home and back button also as these seem to stay on at night when charging with the ones i have tried from the market.
thanks
According to my knowledge they HTC has removed the Desktop clock feature.
Very annoying, why can't they give you an option to switch from 'world clock' ( the planet showing) to a clock like on the older version, at least it would have a real use.

The lack of alarm clock is annoying. I've tried out some clock apps, and those work well enough except the bottom buttons stay lit. Haven't found a good solution yet.

Alarm Clock Plus works best for me. It should not be moved to sdcard, as it breaks like any other app using alarms and/or widgets.
Customizing it the first time may take some time but it can do almost everything so.

There is an alarms section in the Clock app. Nothing special but it works fine.

I know, what I meant was what the OP stated, the desktop clock was missing. I did try Alarm Clock Plus, it worked great except that the bottom buttons remain lit which was distracting.
Interestingly, having now gone a few nights without a bedside clock, I find I'm sleeping a bit better without knowing what time it is.
im using night clock donate at the moment and its a very clean and simple clock which i want however i too have the problem with the three buttons staying lit when its on
If anyone knows of one i want a simple digital clock with the ability to turn off the button lights and also if possible mute notifications when its activated (like email and twitter etc)
Lightning Bug is an app that I use for white noise that also has a fairly customizable clock that goes with it. It has an option to turn off device lights, although that does not seem to be working correctly on the One S (could be something the devs need to fix for Ice Cream Sandwich).
I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum. (Being as I am a new user since I set up this account just to ask this question, I can't really post to many other places anyway.)
So, I use an sms pop up application called Glowfly, which I love most of the time. But sometimes I hand my phone off, etc, and I want to quickly disable it so no pop ups show up randomly in the middle of things. There's no easy way to toggle the pop-ups without opening up the app and going into the settings.
So, I used minimalist text to make a widget, then used Secure Settings to make the on tap function toggle between enabling/disabling Glowfly. It works great.
But, what I would love to be able to do is to use the Minimalist Text variables to change the text from saying "On" to "Off" and back. Does anyone know how I could use Tasker or Secure Settings to check the state of Glowfly, to see if it's running, and then output "on" or "off" accordingly into my Minimalist Text widget? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
No one? I'll be honest, I've been at it for five hours straight now and it's getting me kinda mad. If anyone has any ideas...
No?
I didn't really know what to search to find an answer to this question, so I'm sorry if it has already been posted. I have a full stock nexus and the default launcher, sometimes I notice a little + sign where the home screen indicators are. I know it's used to add a new home screen, but I don't want it there. And when I scroll all the way to the right there's an extra blank home screen. Does anyone know if it's possible to get rid of this?
Question 2: I have a repeating alarm set every morning with the stock alarm app. I've noticed that sometimes the alarm icon in the notification bar will disappear, and only come back up if I tap on the alarm in quick settings. The alarm is still set and still goes off.
Neither of these are really issues, just nuisances, and for all I know they could be "features". But any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
for #1, just place something on the homescreen then remove the item.

Thanks! Will it still pop up anymore or do I have to do that every time?

I just noticed #2 happening on my N5 as well. I figured maybe it was because I have made some status bar changes with Xposed Framework + Gravity Box, but I guess not. Probably a bug of some sort. What's weird is I've seen it come and go randomly too when just looking at my screen. Oh well. Kind of bugs me, but not a huge deal since my alarm still goes off every morning.
I have the same problem on my Nexus 7 and Nexus 5. I guess it's more of an annoyance than a problem.
I have had this problem for a while now, usually goes away if I bring an icon over to a new page then back, or if I restart my phone.
I have since switched back to Nova as they have implemented many kit kat GEL like additions, and I used this on my nexus 4, missed a lot of the swipe features and icon packs
home screen
You restore you N5 in the company setting....
Many be Issue is the some missing file....
I've had the problem with the blank home page several times on my N5 and adding/removing an item to the page removes it. It's always a extra page to the right of the last active page.
I have a daily recurring alarm and I only see the alarm icon two hours before the set time. In the notifications I have the option to dismiss the alarm early.
I do have an issue with HD Widgets which lives on the home (first) screen. Sometimes the widget becomes embedded on the page -- I will see what appears to be overlaid images. I first noticed what appeared to be two sets of temperatures (I use the weather widget with three or five day forecast). The easiest way to correct the problem is to drag the widget to a new page at the end, delete the home page which now displays the widget as a background image, then re-order the pages. This has never occurred on my N4 or N7 which are set up similarly except that the home page is the middle page.
Does anyone else find it absolutely the alarm's snooze function to be completely ridiculous that the you have to:
1) Enable an option just to be able to snooze an alarm
2) Can then only snooze a preset, non-configurable, three times in five minute intervals
3) Once the alarm goes off the actual snooze button is tiny. Like 1"x3/4" big. You have to try and tap this while fiddling with your phone in the middle of sleep. You can't just slide your finger across the phone to a preset snooze area as you could with all other galaxy phones that I can remember.

Never tried that and I'm not sure. Will try tonight once my wife is home since she is the one with the phone. I was just creating the thread to get discussion going because she didn't know there was no snooze until the alarm went off this morning. But even if the home button does snooze, it will only snooze if the option has been set and then will only snooze three times, and to top it off only in five minute intervals. Why can't that be changed?

i dont know how the alarm and snooze thing work on the S6, but on my S4 i can snooze it with the home button without even waking up, and i can snooze every alarm 10 times, with 3 minutes between every two rings....hope its the same with the S6 because i am planning on getting one soon....

I'll post a screenshot tonight but I do know that when you go to add an alarm that there is an area under the time that you select for 'Options'. That expands the window and you have a few options like vibrate, change the ringtone, increase volume as alarm goes on, and there is Snooze. Selecting it sets snooze to go off three times in five minute intervals....no ifs, ands, or buts about it. It won't go off repeatedly until you turn of the alarm and can't adjust the intervals. That is really my (and my wife's) biggest issue with it that you can change the intervals and that is a preset three times that can't be changed. So you won't be able to set it to your liking of "with 3 minutes between every two rings"

+1 for Timely.
IMO, there's not much use complaining about system apps like this that are so easily replaceable. Just download one you like better!
Yep, Timely all the way. I don't even know what the alarm of my current phone (LG G3) looks like, been using Timely since day 1..
Snooze shouldn't even be a feature at all. Just get your butt up when your alarm goes off...
Maybe everyone should have to go to the military for a few years. That would fix your snooze problem right up. ☺

This. My wife hits snooze like 3-4 times before she gets up, I get up when my alarm first goes off. It's funny and annoying really, we both get up at 5:20 but her stupid alarms always wake me up earlier.
It's a bit ridiculous that they removed functionality from the prior generations. I am coming from an S4 and the default alarm app was perfect, could choose snooze duration and amount of times and setting up a repeat was as easy as tapping the days I wanted the alarm to ring on. I know default apps are easy to replace, it's just unfortunate that I now need to use a new app for functionality that always used to be there. </rant>

It is unfortunate, but as others have said - Timely is awesome.
How in the hell do they fudge something like that up.
Sorry if I'm gravedigging, but the Google clock available from the Play Store allows you to adjust the snooze interval. With root, I was able to uninstall the Samsung clock in Titanium Backup so the Google clock is the default.
Thanks so much for the timely recommendation. I was having a hard time finding an app that gestures would work with.
Really, Samsung?
It seems like a glitch. I can only toggle snooze. When I tap Snooze (not the switch), it should take me to options where I can change the snooze length and how many times it repeats (like all their previous versions of the alarm/clock). But nothing happens other than switching the toggle.
Not a huge deal, but an unfortunate oversight. I've downloaded Google's Clock app for now.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Can't change snooze
I'm frustrated by the exact same thing. I cannot find a way to change the snooze time or how many times it repeats. IS this a bug or they simply do not give the option for this anymore?!

I don't like this either.
Simple solution, I have never used the stock alarm.
