[Q] SD Card - Read Only - General Questions and Answers

I rooted my Desire, yesterday and installed Leedroid. When I start the phone it 'prepares the sd card', but then tells me that the card is read only.
What did I do wrong and how to fix it??

I've run into this a couple times when a file becomes corrupted on my sd card. Try to copy the contents of your card to your computer, if a file is corrupted a warning will pop up. Delete the corrupted file and your card should mount again. There are other possible causes, but you could try that.

[Resolved] Card won't mount

So I'm fairly new to android phones and my GNex doesn't have an SD card so I don't know what to do. My friends HTC Desire HD keeps saying the SD card is unmounted and when he goes to mount it in settings, it keeps saying it is safe to remove it. What can I do? I tried putting in another sd card and it worked but this one won't. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I put the sd card into my computer and saw that all the files were still there. I put it back in the phone and now they've showed up. Why did this happen and how can I avoid it in the future?

did you try to reformat sd card

Damaged SD Card

Hi guys,
My phones micro-sd card has been acting strange and was not being recognized at times by my phone. I then proceeded to put it in its SD card adapter and put it in my Mac and got an error saying the card was unreadable. I then put it in a reader on my PC and everytime I try to access the drive it gives me the 2 errors, "You need to format the drive...etc" and after clicking cancel it says that my drive is an unrecognized file format.
Recuva says it can't read the boot sector and running chkdsk gives me the message that the file format is RAW.
Just tried running ReclaiMe file recovery and it says the card is only 30.6MB while it is actually a 32GB card.
Do you guys think there is any hope? Or should I just move on?
Any help would appreciated. Got a lot of pictures and music I would love to save on the drive, plus ROM backups.
Thanks so much
Bump
I've killed an SD card before.. not sure how.. it had been partitioned EXT3 for a rom on a desire.. then re-formatted to normal..
but the problem came months after without notice one day the camera was failing and the gallery wouldn't open..
I tried a new SD card and things were fine so I figured the SD card died
Try to use MiniTool Partition Wizard on your pc, and delete ext partition and swap stay only on fat32. if that does not work format your card to exfat. If that doesn`t work try use program "winhex"(before i used it, my computer hadnt read my card). I repaired my card 3 times these methods.
You can use this ONLY on memory card reader.

[Q] SD CARD problem

Hey there
I have an HTC Sensation XE
I used an 8GB SD Card which worked well until suddenly it started giving me "Sd card unexpectedly removed" , so I had to remove it and reinsert it and restart the phone to make it work again. When it stopped working on my phone, I got to copy the files to my PC, and I got another 8GB SD Card, which I tried to copy the folders from the pc , but no files showed, and it auto-deleted the folders,I installed a large application from the market and the part on the SD Card was deleted.I got a 16 GB SD Card, but same problem, I erased it, still I can't get the files from my pc to the Card and get make them work,so got any answers?
And thank you

Can no longer write to sd card?

I'm going crazy here! Out of no where my 64gb card would no longer allow me to write to it or delete anything from it. Probably had it for about a year without one problem. I tried wiping it, reformatting it, and no matter what I was sick with what was on the card.
Figured the card was corrupt so I bought a brand new one. Formatted it fat32, installed it and transferred a bunch of movies & pictures to it on my pc without a problem. Now I'm trying to transfer a movie to it I downloaded to my internal memory & it fails. Trying to download a movie directly to the external sd card I keep getting the same error "no such directory".
I'm rooted running liquid smooth, & checking root explorer it is mounted as rw.
What am I missing here?

Can't Install Healthy .ZIP file from SD Card

Long Version:
----------------------------------
Hello. I was preparing for a full wipe of my phone (Galaxy S3 i9300) for a clean flash for my next ROM. So I did was I got a SD Card Reader and plugged my SD Card in and put it in a laptop to copy the files, while suddenly, my SD Card got corrupted. I tried to format the SD Card with the same SD Card Reader (not knowing the Card Reader was faulty) but it made things worse. So, I took a different Card Reader, and formatted the SD Card and now all seems well. Until, when I put the .ZIP file in the SD Card, put the SD Card on my phone, and install .ZIP from SD Card on my phone using TWRP (2.8.6.1), it displays the error "E: Zip file is corrupt!" So naturally, I restarted the phone into recovery, formatted the SD Card using TWRP, changed the file system to FAT (vfat) and it displays the error "E: Unknown MTP message type: 1", then I tried repairing the file system, and it was successful. So I did was put the .ZIP in the SD Card again and try it again, with no luck.
I have already used all of these to format the SD Card and the phone still thinks the .ZIP file from the SD Card is corrupted:
Diskpart
Chkdsk
EaseUs Master Partition
Windows Format
SD Formatter (v4.0)
---------------------------------------
TL;DR
Phone got fully wiped, SD Card got corrupted while transfering files because of faulty Card Reader, SD Card got formatted a lot of times, Finally got the SD Card running, but now, if I put it inside the phone, it thinks the .ZIP File from the SD Card is corrupted.
What should I do?
p.s. (I already downloaded the same .ZIP file multiple times to make sure it was healthy, and it is)

Yes, the .zip file does work. I can open it on my pc
Sadly, I can't get a new SD Card. Mainly because I need this SD Card because it is a 32GB SDHC Class 10 SanDisk SD Card, and it's not cheap to get a new replacement (of the same SD Card).
I would like to know how to fix this corrupted SD Card. Because everytime I plug it into my PC (and use Windows Check Drive for Errors, and Chkdsk) and find there's no errors. And then when I finished placing the files into the SD Card, when I plug it the next time, everything got corrupted, but Windows still does not detect any errors on the drive..... wut

Copy paste via USB cable? The ZIP might be corrupted in a way that the script is broken or somehing. Try copypasting the file via USB and if that doesn't work download a different ZIP.
