Hi,
I'm still having a problem to hide my videos (mp4).
I have tried to use both .nomedia blank file and .folder naming format on my HTC Desire but it is still not hiding my videos on most of the videos apps - Video and Gallery.
The naming format i was using is:
/mnt/sdcard/.vid/
I also added the .nomedia file into the .vid folder.
I have also tried to restart the mobile several times and it is still not working. All the videos in the .vid folder are in .mp4 format.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks,
ssboyz

I keep loading videos on sdcard2,and they keep getting deleted by the device. I have had it happen on stock and now on vegen. I can watch the videos, they arr found easily in various programs, and other tyoes of files are never deleted, just videos. Divx, avi, mp4 and mpeg. Has anyone esle seen this or now how to fix it?
Opening up es file explorer, browse to your sdcard2. Press menu, choose "new" and then "file" and name it
.nomedia
This will prevent your sdcard from being scanned and your videos will not get deleted (bug with the current software).
I have problem when all pic and small music from games folder appear in music apps and gallery, I try to use gallery excluder and nokumastudio apps that put a .nomedia file to exclude folders from media scanner, this method work in gingerbread but this method do not work in ICS..Is there any other method I can use to exclude folder?.

Use this app
Use Gallery Excluder By Mr floppy Encoding
Confirmed and working for ICS and I use it so I know

Gallery excluder work..just need to clear data..
If you have a file / folder explorer. Create a folder in your /sdcard and /mnt/external1 that could be called
Code:
.NOMEDIA
Note: the period (.) is required.
Place everything you want in there and it should exclude from any application that scans for pictures, music, etc...
Ok
I copied a bunch of drawings, learning sheets to my sd card however, when I goto gallery is there an option where I can just view that folder and not show everything as it does already like mu mp3 album art to videos. Its really annoying gripe but is there an alternative if not?.
Yep, if you don't want the files in a folder to show up in gallery you just create a file and name it .nomedia inside that folder... This means that the gallery will ignore anything in this folder, whether it's images, mp3's or movie files...
Title says it all... Having my music on my SD Card, with album cover in each folder causes each cover to be inside the gallery.
Thoughts?

Put an empty file called ".nomedia" (with no file extension like ".txt or other) in the folder where the cover pictures are
(you can copy the .nomedia file from others folders)
(if doesn't work immediatly, reboot)
Yeah, this is an issue for me too. I want only pictures in the gallery, not my videos appearing too.
I'll try that, thanks.
But I have everything separated by folder with the album cover where the music is for that album.

Click to collapse
The issue there will be if you place the .nomedia file in a music folder that folder won't be read at all by media scanner. So your songs will not be read either. You might be able to use a workaround such as telling your music player what folder to look in but I'm not sure if that will work either with a .nomedia file in there.
Okay, I've got another solution (which takes a bit more time). Let's sum those solutions up now:
You can put a .nomedia file into your music folder. This should stop Androids media scanner from scanning sub-directories, too. Ah, damn. Just read the answer above mine. He's right. This method will "hide" all the files in the music folder and therefore your music player won't be able to find them (except it has an internal media scanner).
Embed the album covers in the mp3 files itself and then delete the cover .jpg file from the directory (most likely this file is hidden). Embedding works with various tools (for example MP3Tag for Windows). This takes way more time than option 1.
I hope this helped
hi all,
i installed an app named folder lock advanced from google play store to secure my media files. after installing it i added my media files in it after which it got encrypted and i was able to access my files only through that app...it was all good.
but the issue i have is that...when i first installed it and started adding my videos it added only few of them and left the rest...so i uninstalled it at once and reinstalled it again.
when i uninstalled it the video files which added at first got encrypted while the others weren't.
i reinstalled the app again and added media files again and this time the remaining videos only got added to it...the encrypted videos were left out...
i looked in some forums on how to run encrypted video files and renamed the file with .mp4 extension/ .3gpp extension and tried to run the file...but my video player says " cant run the file".
since i got pissed off real bad because of this chaos...i uninstalled the app again...now all my video files are encrypted because of it...i cant run the video file even if i rename it with an extension of mp4/3gpp.
In my SD card i got a folder named Folder Lock Advanced in which there are two sub folders. one folder has thumbnails of all the videos while the other had the videos in encrypted format.
please help me to fix this issue.
thanks in advance !:fingers-crossed:
