Hi, I just released a London public transit journey planner app - Pubtran London. You'll find it on the Market. Can you try it and give some feedback?
FEATURES
Intelligent autocomplete with all London stops / stations
Easy to use and neat interface
...more coming later, this is the first version
This is based on my "Pubtran" app (journey planner for Czech Republic, #4 top rated on appbrain.com). I want to create versions for more cities / countries in the future, if you are a developer willing to cooperate on this, please let me know. I'm working on making it really easy for developers to add support for other public transit networks.
Hi there,
Just installed the program. I am guessing the lack of stations is because it is still in beta.
I like the interface, simple is nice.
However, I get constant FC on my Samsung Galaxy i9000. So i cannot fully test the program .
@benG1
Thanks for trying it! What stations are missing and when do you get the FCs? I know that when you enter a station that is not in the autocomplete list, it usually crashes.
I will fix that obviously but I think that users would rarely enter the whole station manually - they would select it from the autocomplete (if it's there of course).
BTW are you from London?
Oh wait my bad. All stations are there. Just only the stations beginning with a are shown in dropdown box with no input into search box which is what confused me.
Fc's when i click find journey...
And yes i am from London but in newcastle at the moment.
Hope this helps.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
The newest version from the Market should fix some crashing issues.
But there is still one bug - it crashes when you enter stop name that contains apostrophe (').
I was asking if you are from London to find out if nearest stop suggestions are working but now I know it doesn't...
Just downloaded the new one.
For some reason, even though I am in Newcastle it gave me my 2 nearest stations back home... whether or not that is because I put in my station last time.
But gave me the correct route, just some buses came up as D...what does that mean? Rail replacement?
Otherwise, gives good routes and such. Looking good, potential app for me to use at home
The stops are sorted based on several factors - previous use, time of previous use, importance (tube stations are more importnt than bus stops) and geo distance. So the 2 were suggested because you used them previously.
What is bus D - I don't know too , probably replacement.
Looking good then, just the apostrophe issue and i say good to go! Loving the simplistic theme so please dont change .
Simplicity is one of my top priorities, so you don't need to worry
But I guess it'll take some time before final release is ready - there are still some minor issues and I want to add some features (search options, add to calendar etc).
Definitely has more stations than any other existing app on the market.
The interface is very simple, which I like, but it takes time to realise what means what. I mean like how the transfers are marked, etc. Maybe you could include some help with the app or starting overview.
And the only visual bug I've noticed on my Nexus One is that if the station name is too long, it goes under delete button and looks a bit messy. I think the button should have a white background, so that it hides text under it.
@Karolis
How should I modify (or completely change) the results to be more understandable? Also please have a look here: hhttp://ui.stackexchange.com/q/2270/1565
The visual bug - it will be fixed in the final version.
Any other feedback is always welcomed!
(deleted my duplicate post)
I think the results are easy to understand imho.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I don't think you should necessarily change anything. It's just that I was used to some other apps, and it took a good couple looks to get used to this one, but when I did, I just love the simplicity.
What I'd like to see in this app is a bit more advanced planning options, so that I could exclude some modes of transportation. So let's say I want to travel only by bus, I should exclude everything else.
@Karolis
Search options are definitely coming in the future (departure/arrival time, modes of transport - bus/tube/tram/... etc). I'll probably leave the layout unchanged for now.
Nice, but needs more functionality
I like it, but it could do with some more functionality.
Likes:
Nice clean interface
Ability to see the endpoint of transit
Could do with:
Ability to record home and bookmark other destinations
Ability to get geolocation
Transit maps
One of the other London transit apps I use is London Journey, which offers a lot more to me than something like this to be honest.
@adesweb
Ability to record home and bookmark other destinations - I don't think this is needed. The autocomplete dropdown suggests stops that you have used before.
Ability to get geolocation - This is not working for some reason, I can't test that as I'm not from London...
Transit maps - I will add that sometimes.
London Journey app - I hope my app will be better eventually
New version on the market:
* Option to choose departure or arrival time
* New icon
* Minor visual changes
* Nearest stops suggestions should work now
* Improved stops list
* Fixed crash with stops, that contain apostrophe
What should be in the next release?
Downloaded the new version.
Not a fan of the new icon, but minor details.
Like the new journey interface, looks nice and still easy to read. Apostrophe crash sorted on my phone too.
Next release, choose bus or train, direct route/fastest route/less congested route etc? Dont go through station or dont use certain transport ^_^
Try version 1.0 from the Market. What's new:
* Advanced search options
* Route details with traffic disruptions
* New icon (again)
* Visual changes
* All National Rail stations in the UK included
* You can enter postcodes as departure / arrival
I think it's the best app for journey planning now
Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi all,
I just finished writing the first version of TubeRun for Android. TubeRun is a London transport app that aims to present the most important data that TfL offers in a single app. My motivation for writing it was the low quality of similar apps found in the market. Typically they offer only a single important feature (eg a journey planner, a good map, bus departures) but they omit the others forcing you to install multiple apps which seldom work in a straightforward manner. In TubeRun, expect to find everything that matters so that you won't have to have 4 different similar apps installed. Features include:
-A Journey Planner that uses the TfL API for up-to-date travel plans
-Live Bus, Underground, Overground, DLR and Rail Departures
-Nearby Tube lines, Bus routes, Cycle Hire stations (with live bike/dock availability data), Rail stations, Oyster ticket shops
-Oyster Balance
-Underground Refund Claims
-The real Tube Map
-Favorites
-Current and Weekend Status Updates
-Fast ICS-inspired interface that doesn't rediscover the wheel
New: The source code of the app is available on GitHub.
I plan to add more features, and I am posting this to request your feedback on what I should add/improve next.
TubeRun is by no means perfect, however I think that it works really well already. Please, let me know your thoughts on it so that I am able to effectively improve it. My current list of TODOs for the future is as follows:
Improve the UI of the main screen (icons are the way to go). (v1.2)
Add a station chooser that uses auto complete and the current user location to void scrolling. (v1.2)
Add the ability to deactivate the backgrounds (my photography skills are not up to the task) (v1.2)
Suggest National Rail stations in the Journey Planner. (v1.2.2)
Add support for oyster accounts with multiple cards enabled. (v1.2.2)
Add tube stations status. (v.1.2.4)
In the nearby tube stations map, add the ability to show departures when clicking a station.(v.1.2.6)
Show nearby oyster ticket shops.(v.1.2.6)
Show nearby rail stations(v.1.2.6)
Fix the title for manually-entered bus stops in departures.(v.1.2.7)
Migrate to the official TfL API for tube departures.(v.1.2.7)
Add national rail departure data.(v.1.2.7)
Overhaul the departures station selector(v.1.2.7)
Add the option to download the tube map that also depicts rail services.(v.1.2.8)
Migrate to the new Google Maps v2 API.(v.1.3.0)
Make favourites sorted by current distance.(v.1.3.1)
Add nearest bus stop in favorites
Show tube/bus departure times directly inside the journey planner
Integrate data about maximum journey time (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14872.aspx)
Support push notifications for travel disruptions
Support advanced journey planner options
Add widgets.
You may lobby for your favorite feature here and I will do my best to implement it. If you are willing to contribute with code, just PM me.
PS. If you like the app don't forget to rate it. The more people that use it, the better the chances of keeping me motivated.

wow love u work matey just awsome and tyvm just keep going with ur work and ty again
Good job bro! If I'm ever going to London again I'll take this with me ^^
Great app, shame I just moved out of London though! Would have used this otherwise.
referring this app to all of my friends. you need more downloads. App is fantastic, you just need to improve the main menu layout and give it a more ICS style feel.
Well done mate, I use it everyday
fantastic app, will pass it on to all my mates. love it when someone sets themselves a challenge and sails over the bar.
keep it up
WOW what a potential app. I would like to make a few suggestions
1. UI, this needs a rehaul? Im currently using Tube Chaser https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5hbmR5Ym90dGluZy50dWJlY2hhc2VyIl0.
and it looks very well polished. You can also set it up so that it takes you to a certain menu when you launch the app. So it could take you straight to Favourites or near by stations
2. Widgets. This is what Tube chaser was missing. The first Tube app I had was London Tube Status https://play.google.com/store/apps/...s#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwicHRjLnRmbHN0YXR1cyJd
The widgets worked very well.
But I have to say this is a very comprehensive app but needs a cleaner look, ease of use and widgets.
Well done
Hi guys,
Thanks a lot for your kind words. I did put a lot of my spare time into this, and seeing it lagging in the area of 50-100 downloads is indeed demotivational.

Yes, Tube Chaser had by far the cleanest UI. I went for the ICS+background images layout which I personally like a lot (and it required quite a lot of effort to make it 'work'). What I do lack are some nice icons for the main screen, which I guess is what turns a lot of people off on the first look. As I am not a designer (I more or less suck at photoshop), I didn't want to use some 'not quite right' icons. So I went with labeled buttons. If any of you has a suggestion for a good (+free) ICS icon pack let me know.
What I want to implement for the next version is a quick picker for stations that relies on autocomplete/location and use it thoughout the app. The current version requires quite a lot of scrolling.
As for the "take me to a specific screen", it's indeed nice. However, I think this workflow (quick information peeks) is better satisfied with widgets (see below)

Can you ellaborate a bit more on the wigdets that you need? I personally dislike widgets that require me to 'interact' with them in order to se what's new. For example, I don't think that "departures" widgets is a good idea as they will require me to always hit "refresh" to see what's new. If that's the case, I pretty much prefer to launch the app, hit favorites and stay in the clean interface of the app. I thought about doing it for oyster balance, yet I prefer the current implementation that just requires me to launch the main app. Quering servers on the background periodically or getting your location (thus depleting your battery) is something I want to avoid.
Hey,
I have just downloaded your app and I must say! I really like it. I spend a lot of time in london for meetings etc... and so this will come in very useful!

Take me to specific screen would be handy as when I use it on tubechaser, where ever I am, I would like to see nearest stations first. Its worth having I think

The only thing I dont like about tubechaser is that it doesnt have departure widgets. Isnt this one of the benefits of Android, having widgets?
When I use Train Times UK for C2C times https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5jcm93b3JjLm5hdGlvbmFscmFpbC5saXZlIl0.
I only use the widgets and never the app. All I need to do is hit refresh on my homescreen and that is it. Im sure you can have that the widget doesnt always update unless manually done on the screen?
I've just downloaded this and love its features. On first impressions, it looks like it's going to become my new main Tube app! The only criticisms I have with it are:
1. To reiterate what others have said about the UI on the front page - I think that some nicer looking buttons wouldn't go amiss;
2. I have two Oyster cards linked to my online account, the first of which was lost a long time ago and has a zero balance. Until there's the option to choose which card to show in the app (or TfL let you delete old cards off of their online service), the Oyster balance feature could be useless to a lot of people.
Great work though, really nice app overall.
Thanks for all the feedback guys! I am now able to start filling up my list of ToDos. Here are my current priorities:
Improve the UI of the main screen (icons are the way to go).
Add a station chooser that uses auto complete and the current user location to void scrolling.
Add support for oyster accounts with multiple cards enabled.
Add widgets.
I will add this to the first post and try to keep it updated. If your favorite feature is not quite high up, maybe I will change my mind if more people ask for it.

Yep, I am aware of this and I added it to my todos. For the time being, I am pretty sure that you can erase cards from your online profile. The option may be burried somewhere but I remember doing it a couple of months ago and then fixing a relevant bug in the app.

i mostly use buses and not all bus stops are available yet (app's saying so). on the bus time table not only how many minutes left but also an arrival time information would be nice. and to be honest background photos distract me. i'm telling this to you as a user, who has tried many these kind of apps and to help you to understand what a user wants from a bus tracking app.

I am using the 'Bus stop locations' dataset released by TfL here. It may be slightly out of date (eg released last year) but I wasn't aware of any stops/lines missing. Thanks for bringing this up. I will update the description to mention this. Are these missing stops available in other apps?

I am not sure that I understand you here. Do you mean "the next bus arrives in 13.49" instead of "in three minutes"? Or maybe "buses on route 49 arrive normally every 12 minutes"? As for the second dataset (sceduled bus frequency), I do not know if it is available somewhere (and I do not think it is particullarly useful given that live information is available).

Yep, others have told me that one before (while others quite like them). If more people feel strong against them I will deactivate them. For the time being, I think that they give a unique touch to the app.
Maybe adding a background configuration in the settings to allow users to chose either blank or image background. On/Off toggle basically. I'm about to try this app, judging by the video it seems packed with features so I'm looking forward to having it. The oyster card thing looks good, I don't want to waste time checking at the station all the time or hoping I have enough.
The buses section doesn't work very well. Maybe a compass would help to understand which way is which. I guess we can use the journey planner if we are stuck somewhere. On my road the local bus is only shown as one direction. The tube part is good though, haven't tried the oyster card thing yet.
I use BusCount for bus information, it's pretty good, maybe you would want to look at that to see how they get all the information. Just a suggestion since it's spot on.

Bus number is 462. It shows two buttons but both say "Departures not available. This is Tfl service so be patient". I presume that means it's a problem on their system. It works for other bus routes.
Hi, I recently took an Android Development at my school where I made this Flashcards Study App.
There's still a lot of work I want to complete before I call it finished, but it's a good start I think. I still want to add more quizlet functionality to it (since quizlet.com doesn't seem to have an android app yet.)
Download the App!
Some features:
* Offline Mode to study on the go without an internet connection.
* Adjust card flip speeds in the settings menu
* Long press on a deck to view options
* Shuffle your flashcards
* Search Quizlet to access millions of flashcard sets.
* Edit, Delete, and Create new flashcards with a breeze
* Text-to-speech integration
* Multi-language support
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card.
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
EDIT:
I attached an apk that you guys can use since I can't seem to post a link to the play store.
Or alternatively, You can search for "CardCloud FlashCards" in the play store to get the official app.
I'd recommend it since I'm planning on pushing a lot of new features in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks!

Hey. Sorry. It doesn't seem to let me post links since I'm a new member.
Here's an uploaded APK file you can use in the meantime
Or you can search for "CardCloud Flashcards" in the play store if you want the official version.
Thanks for trying it out!
Definitely let me know if you run into any problems.
So far nice ui
Works good. Is it possible to share own decks with friends? It would be amazing, also an option for read only and read write permissions for shared decks.

Sharing is definitely a feature i'm going to be adding in the feature. Right now i'm torn between integrating some sort of facebook social network to allow for easier sharing. I've been busy trying to learn Ruby on Rails Development and Android Dev at the same time, so the cardcloud website is a bit lacking at the moment. But Sharing is definitely a big feature I want to implement.
Currently I'm in the middle of adding an ability for users to mark each card as easy/hard and then creating an infinite shuffle that will have a smart algorithm to show difficult cards more often.
That should be about two weeks out, and then I'll start working on the Deck sharing.
Great suggestion on the Read/Write permissions too! I think that would be an awesome feature, I've written it down on my notepad, so definitely stay tuned to this thread for any updates I make!
Thanks for trying out my app!
Redesign Icon
Hey buddy I think this app is great for studying and for group activities. Love what you have done. I also like the UI I made this icon for you just cuz i like messing around with Photoshop haha hope you like it

Hi. Great app. Is it possible to manually edit or create a set on a PC and transfer / open / import into the application?
A quick way of implementing this might be to add CSV or XML export and import?
Perhaps a link up to Google docs for cloud storage and on line editing?
Also, would you consider the addition of images on the flip cards? Perhaps a HTML format would make this easy to implement? A picture paints a thousand words and all...
Keep up the good work and I hope its a great success.
Steve.

CardCloud - Flash Cards
CardCloud,
Great effort thus far ... you've added the ability to create card sets! This is HUGE.
Some tips I hope you're able to fix in the coming updates, please.
1. Settings - there should really only be on 'settings' button for the app (the vertical elipses button; top right/bottom right corners).
2. Logon - should be a little more clear "what" service the logon pertains to.
- I thought the ability to logon to Quizlet would work with this ?? I'm an Android newb and I've already realized things are "assumed/presumed" to be known to new users, which its not clear on many applications or the OS itself.
3. KEEP the "skip logon" this is critical and I've come across many notes type apps that I cannot even create a note when in the subway because they require a persistent internet connection = total pain in the ass and useless! You've got a good thing going with this "skip logon" ability please KEEP IT Much appreciated.

Thanks! I'm planning on adding that feature pretty soon. Right now I'm on the verge of adding support for marking cards as either correct or incorrect. Also I'm adding in an in-app purchase to remove ads. I've also been working on the website portion of my app (cardcloud.net) which will allow you to upload your local decks onto a website (once you create an account) once it's uploaded, you'll be able to export from the site.
That's still a work in progress, hopefully in a week or two, I'll have that ready for you.
In the meantime, you can expect an update for marking the correctness of each card in the next day or two!
Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for trying out my app!

Hey! Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words.
I really like the idea of the skip button for logins. The reason the login is there is to allow users to sync their decks with the website portion of the app. (CardCloud.net) But I've been busy working on the app and haven't had a chance to get the webapplication completed yet. Hopefully in the next week or two You'll be able to backup your local decks/cards onto a website, where you can save them on a computer.
The settings functionality is a bit confusing, so I've done a bit of tinkering with it to make it more intuitive to use. Thanks for the suggestions though! I really appreciate the feedback.
In the meantime, I'm working on a v1.2 release which will allow users to mark cards as either correct/incorrect/half-correct/etc, to help with remembering your learning progression. Keep an eye out for that. Hopefully I'll be able to push that up to the google store by tomorrow. I'll also update this thread once that's complete!
Thanks again for trying my app!
Hey. Just uploaded an update to the current App on the Appstore.

* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card. Mark a card as Correct/Incorrect/etc
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
* Settings AutoSave when changed, rather than having to hit a save button
* When Viewing a Deck from Quizlet, download the deck directly from the cardview for your convenience.
* Change your settings (flipspeed and question/answer reversal) from the cardview.

Hi, my girlfriend wrote out 20 sets as study for her exam on Wednesday. Her phone updated your app and it seems her card sets have been deleted (or lost). :crying:
Is your new updated version deleting user inputted card sets?
I'd greatly appreciate a quick response if you have a way to retrieve them.
PS, where are the card sets saved? In files (what location in phone)? Perhaps we can retrieve them manually?
Thanks, Steve.
Hey sd00, I'm really really really sorry that happened.
I found a bug in my code that was clearing the sqlite DB on updates.
I fixed the bug, but unfortunately it looks like her cards have been wiped.
This is embarrassing, I'm a noob and didn't realize that would happen.
There's nothing I can do, but promise it won't happen again.
For what it's worth, If I sent you guys an ad free version of that app, would that help?
Again, I'm really sorry, let me know what I can do to try to make it better.
I'm working on the ability to create decks online and then sync them to your phone, so hopefully that'll make it easier in the future to recreate the decks.
(If you'd like, you can even send me the questions/answers and I'll type them back up for her myself.
if you pm me an email address, I can send you an apk for the free version too.
Again, I apologize for my noobness.
For such a new app - this was an unforeseen mistake by the developer. The fact that he's VERY apologetic and this app does offer some great features over the competition I'll still support this app!
As experience is gained and more testing directly by the developer we'll this app continually excel and grow in feature sets and less bugs. Not many people appreciate developers' hard work and even less developers are as humble as this one.

Hey Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words and support! It's been a lot of fun working on this app and I've learned a lot from the experience. Hopefully as I improve, so will the app. Sorry again to sd00 for the bug. I spent a few days testing and retesting to make sure it wouldn't happen again before I pushed up the newest update this afternoon.
I've been working on the syncing functionality the last week or so and I got it finally working the way I wanted. Not 100% yet, but allowing users to create their decks online I think is a necessary feature, since writing out individual cards on a phone is a pain. I'd like to tweak it a bit to make syncs work faster/better, but I'm slightly limited by my web server since it's a bit slow. Hopefully if I can generate any revenue through the app, I'll be able to put it towards faster servers. I'll keep an eye on the bug log to make sure nothing goes awry though.
I've pushed the new features up onto CardCloud.net allowing users to login to their accounts and create their cards online. Also, I uploaded the app updates to the google play store so users should be able to get the updated app with fixed functionality. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up this time .
In the meantime, I have a couple new features in the pipes that I'm working on that I think should improve the app. Hopefully I'll be able to get these pushed out in the upcoming weeks:
- Image support for flashcards. Definitely a top priority feature, should have an update for this within the next few weeks.
- Rich Text Editing. Another top level feature I want for the app.
- Better Quizlet integration. Search for usernames, and returning public decks, recently studied, etc
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. When I get new features implemented for this app, I will post them here.
Development stops?

If you like to travel and don't have unlimited supply of money this app will help you a lot. Make trip budget plans and track trip expenses in the most fast, easy and stylish way.
For the most fast planning new trip budgets the expenses are divided into categories to be added as quickly as possible. You can create several versions of the same trip and compare final estimated values. After planning you can switch from plan mode into spending mode and log actual trip expenses. You can compare the final trip budget cost with the plan at any moment and access full statistics for each trip expense category.
The app automatically converts expense values into base currency using public rates from open sources (like European Central Bank, etc) which are updated every day (internet connection is required). You can also set your fixed currency rates for each trip budget.
When you travel TripBudget uses GPS to track expense locations. When you enter money amount you can also set discounts and taxes. If you travel with friends you can enter information about expense sharing.
Incoming updates will also provide cloud synchronisation of trip budgets across your devices (including iOS client, which is coming soon).
Supported languages at the moment: English, Russian, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian
If anybody want to help with translating interface to one of the following languages [ Bulgarian, Danish, German, Spanish, Finnish, French, Croatian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Serbian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese ] - there is web interface for easy and fast translation here: http://vitiy.info/localization/tripbudget/
Thanks a lot for your help!

Could you implement the ability to snap receipts in each category? I don't take trips like this app is designed for. But I travel for work. And it would be great to use this as an expense tracker and logger. If, you do add the ability to snap pictures of receipts. Could you make it work like the app Handy Scanner? By the way, this app has been designed excellently. Thank you.

Yes, the pictures are in plans - as ability to attach picture to any expense. I will try to check out this app you mentioned to get some hints. Thanks for your suggestions.
keyboard
I'll try it for my next trip but I already have a few questions :
Why did you implement a keyboard in the app ? I'm too used to swiftkey to use anything else (and I'm used to AZERTY not QWERTY so mistakes are guaranteed)
Is it possible to remove a trip ?
The transparency creates a great WOW effect but dometime it is not very clear what is in the interface and what is in the background.
Because of the keyboard I created a trip without name, now the buttons to list trips and edit trip are not available anymore.
The currency screen can be greatly improved, I think 2 lists might help. 1 list of currencies (full name and short name) and one list of countries (I have no idea of the short name of the currency in Hungary for example). A search field can be helpfull too.
I'm already trying the planning part and see how well I manage to stay in budget ^^

Thanks a lot for your suggestions - they are very valuable.
Keyboard, as it implemented now comes as part of my cross-platform engine - but, probably, i will attach standard keyboard soon as you are not the first who talks about this problem.
Removing trip is not yet possible - but i will add this function for sure. It will be possible from long touch in the list of trips (with confirmation) i suppose.
I will look into the problem with empty trip name. I expect it to be fixed easy.
About currencies - you are right about the need of country name there as hint. And its important to make usage as fast as possible. Also not all currencies are supported yet - only the public list from European central bank. Im in search of good public data for additional currencies.
Awsome design!!!
Vitiy, thank you for your prompt response in the Play Store. I am really enjoying this app and the potential it has. I also bumped up my rating in the store, because it is obvious that you are pouring yourself into the app and you are very proactive in addressing feedback. That is a great sign for the future of TripBudget!
I agree with the comments of @Jaytronics and @supermamie and was glad to see you address those comments. As far as my comments in the Play store, I am basically in the same boat as these two commenters, considering using this for both work and personal travel. The "reports" I mentioned really comes down to a way of either downloading, printing or exporting the data that you are already gathering with the app. It would be a shame to put in all of the budget and actual info and then have it locked away in the app.
That would go along with @Jaytronics point about the receipt captures. On a side note, and I am not a dev (at least not a good one), so I don't know the logisitics/challenges of OCR, but things like Neat Receipt and Evernote that integrate OCR are incredibly useful and productive tools. Perhaps you could consider that as a longterm idea. It would certainly take your app beyond anything that is out now.
As far as the "Fact" vs. "Actual" I see your point. Still, I think "Fact" is an odd label. Perhaps "Real" or "True" as in "real costs" or "true costs", which are recognized and common financial descriptions?
I'm sure you have a vision so my input is more ideas than requests. I know my ideas may not fit in with your vision and the app is already great. If you do plan on implementing an "expense" aspect to the app, there are plenty of examples out there, but one I have been using since 2008 or so is Xpenser. It is one of the more unique models, that I originally used on a Blackberry before anything else really existed. Worth looking at.

Thanks for your thoughts!
I thought about making reports visible through some web interface later (after cloud synchronisation will be implemented).
OCR would be nice indeed. Cant say anything about recognition libs yet, but its sure have to be included in longterm plans.
'Real' was my first variant, but my friend told me that Fact should be use instead because he saw it inside some Microsoft app Should i switch it back? Even more problems will arise when there will be more translations - and there will be no short words at all... I plan to make online translation service (as i made for my another application - http://vitiy.info/public-localizator-web-service-for-online-localization-of-applications/) to translate the app to wide variety of languages.
I will try to get as much useful features as possible from that app you mentioned, as it looks like old project with big budget. I will not create client for blackberry in near future (not sure i will make my engine to support this platform at all as their sells fall rapidly)
Thanks for your suggestions again

Again, thanks for a prompt reply, it is impressive.
I agree with your thinking regarding the reports, it will be a good addition and much more logical after you have finished the cloud implementation.
The OCR is really a wish list item, but if you can make it happen at some point, and make it work well unlike most other apps, your app would be hard to beat.
The Real, True, Actual label thing is just personal preference. I think you should go with what you feel comfortable with and the users can adapt. I will say however that these three terms are far more common in relation to costs/budget/etc. in the business world than Fact, which I've actually never seen used relative to an expense sheet or budget. Again, I think this comes down to your perogative.
The Xpenser app is as you mentioned a very mature product. It was actually 2008 that I started using it not 2003, but still it's been around awhile. I was definitely not recommending any development for Blackberry, just mentioning how far ahead of the game Xpenser was, having a mobile expense tracker before iOS or Android had any market penetration. It is really just a great example of simplicity married with functionality and might give you some ideas on various methods/opportunities for data gathering and input.
Anyway, I am going to use TripBudget over the next few weeks and see how it works for real world trips and planning. Best of luck!

About OCR - right, the main problem is to make it work well.
I will write about the list of ideas i might borrow from Xpenser when ill finish exploring it.
Please write any ideas which will come up while you will use the app in real situations. Im sure there will be a lot of things to add/fix.

Hi,
Nice app! Easy to use and has wonderful a UI.
Minor issue: No way to edit the planned time and actual time it happened? Anyway, will it be possible to have a time-based budgeting? It will be easier, at least for me, to edit expenses. For example,
7:00-8:00 Breakfast @ restaurant A (20 USD)
8:00-12:00 Island hopping (99 USD)
> boat fee from island A to B (20 USD)
> boat fee from island B to C (20 USD)
> boat fee from island C to D (20 USD)
> boat fee from island D to A (30 USD)
> tip (9 USD)
"Meal" is more generalized than Dinner.
There are other public vehicles here like jeepney, tricycle, and pedicab especially in rural areas ^_^ An additional means transport "Other" will be more apt, in my opinion. OR Land / Air / Water then a list of every means of public transport possible for each category.
And also, a weather forecast from forecast.io for the destination+specified travel date+a day before and after the trip will be handy. For example,
destination: Tokyo
travel date: Jan 2-5 2015
weather forecast: Jan 1-6 2015
Maybe it is too much to ask. I should start looking for a trip organizer to fully track the trip rather than a trip budgeting app But yours is the best looking one. You couldn't blame me for trying

Thanks a lot for your attention and suggestions.
There is very thin line between trip organizer and expense logger, especially when logger has strong 'plan' part. So i will add as many organizer features as i can while maintaining simplicity of the application.
Surely, the ability to change date of expense will be added (as its not a big problem to implement).
About the mode when you have some kind of timetable - i have to think how its possible to integrate it. Any suggestions are welcome on that part.
About 'Meal' - may be good word. May be to add restaurant / cafe. As for transport - may be ability to add custom categories would be nice (but im not sure what to do with icons yet).
Forecast is possible feature to add - but im not sure where to place it. And what to do if your trip contains several places?
Great looking app.
It would be great if you could add the following two features:
A) Sum all trips to show total spent and budgeted
i.e. I'm budgeting a multiple city holiday, with a total overall budget I'd like to track.
If the "The LIST OF TRIPS" page had a sum at the bottom for plan and Fact for each of the holidays would be perfect.
B) Also the ability to enter my own FX rates for the currency exchange.. i.e. the market rate isn't what I paid so the conversion to my local currency is to high or low...
Keep up the good work.
Hey,
This is my first major app I've produced by myself - it's called Shuffle My Life, and it generates random activities for you to do depending on where you are, what time it is, the weather conditions, and so on. For example, if you're near a park, there'll be outdoor activities. If it's after 10pm, you tend to get media-based activities like news, new music discovery, and so on.
It's currently in beta and being heavily developed, so I'm looking for feedback and ideas for where to take this in the future!
PS - here's some info about the permissions used:
Location - used to determine what places are near to you, to feed Google Places API (e.g. are you near a bakery? a restaurant? a park?) - Location is only stored on the local device, so if you delete the app, the data goes with it. You don’t need to use the app with location if you don’t want to.
File storage read/write - To be able to save images/videos you’ve taken with some tasks (this is upcoming for an expanded sharing functionality)
Find/use accounts - used for Google Play Games
WiFi connection and disconnection/network access - This can probably be removed, it was a relic from when the built in web browser needed to check if you were on WiFi before automatically loading a page (it now always prompts before loading a page).
Control vibration - For some fun feedback when completing tasks
Some ideas for the future:
- Localization and better support for other currencies
- Lots more tasks
- Some multiplayer element
- Better task submission system
I'm hoping I can take this idea and run with it, expanding it as I go - but I wanted your feedback first! Thanks for checking it out!
Oh, and the Play Store link is here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gadsby.shufflemylife
I like the idea but I think users need more info (may be more screenshots) about app.
Is it global? What about preferences? Why isn't it in Play Store?
It is in the Play Store, but I'm a new user so can't post direct links yet - I'll update it when I can!
It's not localized, if that's what you mean? The app should work anywhere in the world, though currency (I.e. the estimated time it takes to complete a task) is in dollars only at the moment. I'll add an automatic conversion at some point!
I'll add a couple more screenshots, good idea!
I just updated the app with a few fixes, including the ability to opt out of Google Play Games, faster loading times, a new splash screen, and crash bugs resolved. Any other thoughts?

Wow, that's crazy!
Last night I updated a lot - 1.7 should be a lot smoother, have a look!
As i'm sure others were, I was disappointed to see AppChat go away. I've been working on a much larger scale idea, but figured this could be a good starting point.
talk pseudo is an anonymous chat app that creates rooms based on the apps installed on your device, location, device information, and your interest. While most chat apps (and social media in general) require a login or sign up, I wanted to try a new approach. Everything is anonymous. For each room, you are given a randomly generated ID (and color). These identifiers are also periodically regenerated. While I can't make any guarantees towards the long term direction, I can assure you that the platform of anonymity will ALWAYS be here (looking at the like of yik yak, which started forcing profiles/usernames). While in a given room, you are able to chat as well as optionally attach images to your message.
With talk pseudo you can also add custom rooms, tailored towards your own personal interest. You can add your favorite artist from Spotify, favorite bar from Foursquare, tv shows, or websites and subreddits. All of the rooms can also be toggled. So if you'd like to hide location based rooms, simply select to hide them in the settings. Along with that, if you select to hide location rooms for example, you will also no longer be prompted for location permissions. Everything permission/data wise is used on an AS NEEDED basis.
Available Rooms:
- Apps installed on device
- Device information (model, brand, etc)
- Location information (city, street, etc)
- Network information (Provider, timezone, etc)
- Nearby Foursquare places
- What's trending
- Twitter trends
- Foursquare trending places
- pseudo trending
Available Custom Rooms:
- Spotify
- Foursquare places
- TV Shows
- Reddit / Subreddits
- Websites
An extra feature that I saw people were requesting from AppChat was an "app search" functionality, allowing you to find discussions on apps before you were to buy one for example. talk pseudo has a built in app search, that leverages the created app based rooms. I found this to be the best approach, as this guarantees that there are users for that given app already. But keep in mind, this means not ALL apps will be available, though the list will continue to grow as time goes on.
Please also keep in mind this is in a very early state. I do have a rather large long term plan for features, but I am also looking for as much feedback as I can get. I've found that community driven apps tend to have great outcomes, and i'd love for talk pseudo to take that approach.
That app is now live on Google Play. I will also be publishing talk pseudo to a few other Android app stores here soon. If you do not have the Play Store on your device, I can also get a link up to a direct download. Along those same lines, that app uses but does not require Play Services. Everything should have graceful fallbacks in the event Play Services is not on the device!
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.gopseudo.talkpseudo (or search talk pseudo)

Already some feedback! There will be another build that goes up later tonight that will fix the icons used in the App Shortcuts!
v1.0.0.2 has been pushed up to address some issues when declining location permissions, as well as fix the icons used on the App Shortcuts! Should be live within the next hour or so!
V1.0.0.7 has now gone live!
Changelog:
- Reduced app size
- Can now open apps, websites, and subreddits links from within a room
- Improved Foursquare search
- Improved rooms sorting
- Intro notice
YikYak has returned the option to remain anonymous actually.
Edit: If this takes off, I'm set, lol.
