Ok I had the titanium backup (free edition) and couple things I didn't like was when it backed up my apps it did it individual and I had to confirm it one by one. Another thing I didn't like was it didn't download from the market it installed like it was a cracked apk. So my question is was I having these issues because it was the free version or is this how the thing backs up. And if so, is there a back up that does it automatically and from the market install.
Try AppBrain.
The paid version is awesome, and automatically restores everything without confirmation. It's totally worth it if you flash new roms.
.
titanium pro...... hands down
Does it install the apps thru the market?
I use my backup pro and it works very well. Paid version.
sent from my iph...wait oops.
Titanium Backup just makes a copy of the app thats installed on your phone on your memory card. Once you restore your apps if you reboot your phone they should all be listed in the market again under downloads.
Titanium Backup +1
well worth the money.
Nandroid.
Also, Titanium Fashow! I have a scheduled backup every day at 2:00 am. And it works when I need my apps and settings back.

One of my favourite programs, never fails.
I have one question though. The program can backup both apk and data if you have root. But if it is restored, is it also shown in the market place?
Anyone with experience?
I know titanium backup has "market doctor" and tells the market which apps you have installed so you may get updates... but i dunno about that program!
Maybe you can run titanium market doctor after installed apk+data with mybackp pro?
Is paid version of titanium required for market doctor to work?

Yes. (Well, I believe the paid version is required for Market Doctor) I have the paid versions of both, but only use Titanium backup. I would only use My Backup Pro if I wanted to back up my call log and messages. It does not back up apps in app-private. Titanium Backup does everything fast and better.
I mailed the devolper to backuppro and he replied that his backup will be reflected in the market as well.
So I guess, since backup pro never failed and is as easy to use as it gets, I will only use this one.
Re: Mybackup pro
Yes, they show back up in the market if the application was downloaded from the market. I use mybackup pro all the time since I flash roms a lot, works great and never failed me. Sometimes though it takes while to show up in the market or may need a second reboot.

If you have root, you can allow mybackuppro to save the market link so that when you restore, it shows up in your market place. It works and is amazing
Ok, I have MyBackup PRO now and it works GREAT, it backups my installed .apk and Market apps and also backups all my settings and messages etc. Only thing that it does not do is Market links and settings in installed apps, but I havent tried it since I rooted my phone yesterday. So, can someone tell me which one is better and why ? I see that most of the people say that Titanium is No.1 but only thing that it has and it is GREAT feature is ability to uninstall default apps with root but MyBackup has much nicer interface. So, bottom line, which app will be better in restoring when we need it, after flashing new ROM, so which will get the phone in exactly same state as before flashing, like nothing happened ?
So please, some comments, I think that it will help a lot of people
Cheers
Well titanium is good for uninstalling apps that ya dont need but don't let that fool ya as titanium has the ability to backup data aswel which allows you to restore ya app back to its usual self with customisations! amongst other things such as settings, wallpapers, wifi, etc...
but to be honest its wrong to compare them both because they kind of do different things, although my backup does a good job of restoring contacts, apps, messages and more!
I think whoever has both, won't have too much to worry about!!

Even though Titanium Backup is voted #1 backup for rooted phones, i have not had any luck with it restoring my data or apps... i get the odd force close during restore and once it apparantly restored my contacts but they were never there
Dont get me wrong Titanium Backup is way above the rest when it comes to backing up your data/links/settings pretty much everything (when it works in my case), however i stuck with My Backup Pro as it does exactly what i want... restore my data lol...
Just my 2cence..
Till now MyBackup PRO has done backup/restore of all apps, settings, shortcuts and phonebook flawlessly ! Things that it didnt do is restored wallpaper, widgets AND market links, that is it. And that was with non rooted phone, didnt tried it now with that feature since it says that it restores EVERYTHING including marktet links. So if, that widget - market stuff is working then it cannot be better than this, so Titanium can be the same. Or it does something even better ?
And I dont think that is wrong to compare these two since they both have Backup in their name and that is their purpose, to backup our phones. Only thing that matters is which is better in doing that ? And I think that is stupid to have both apps if we dont have to, or even if you are sure of that, what app should we use for what ?
I use Titanium backup and it fulfills all my needs ..
Titanium backup looks geeky too. I like it that way .. lolz
And that is why I dont like it Does it restore the phone completely, like nothing happened after you flash new firmware ? I like MyBackup PRO a lot but only thing that I am missing is ability to uninstall default apps from ROMs...can I remove E-Mail, Wisepilot and Voice dialer with no problems ? Also, I am using ADW, it eats my memory, can I turn off default launcher to save some RAM ?
Cheers
You can remove voice dialer, wisepilot, email and more without a problem I think.
I mean I got rid of them, plus quadropop, track id, playnow, mediascape, messaging (seen as I use chompsms), alarm clock (seen as I use kaloer clock) and many more.
also if your on bout removing the default se launcher and only keeping adw then ye you can.
just be careful of certain apps such as timescape and google stuff.. usually linked to other stuff such as phonebook or market.. best not touching them (yet).. also calendar I think!!
Hope it helps!!

Yep, it is better now wothout those apps. Someone should make complete list of apps that can be removed since this is not on that list in root thread.
Tnx
Not sure if it was a network thing or related to maybe removing my messaging app but I used to miss quite a few texts from friends/family :-s different timings an all!

MyBackup Root
MyBackup has just released a special root version for the root community for free..
batch backup/restore, scheduler, backup data to move between roms or different OS versions
ex: backup contacts from 1.x and restore on 2.x
it does most of the the pro version does except there is no online and one device support.
I use my backup root and it always does its job to recover apps and their data after flashing new ROM!
Does my backup back up desktop. Is there a way to restore a desktop instead of manually positioning the apps
Titanium Backup rulez men! It's the best backup app, undoubt.

I like MyBackup Root and prefer it over Ti Backup....although now that I have TBP I'm gonna give it a shot next time I got to flash a rom
Titanium backup pro is a million times better.
I had some issues with mybackup..
IMO there is no comparison

I think root version is a limited version?? in description "Will work on 1 device.

Had some issues too and decided to switch to Titanium, which has so many options:: Freezing app, multiple saves par app.. automatic/schedulde..
And the dev is realy responding to user recommandation.
Out of subject: I'm very dissapointed that some app on the market never get updated (i mean real update and not bug fixes) since so LONG and gain profit only because they are in top paid app.. For example Root Explorer 206ko of line of code/ never updated / Poor UI/.. and all of this for 3€.. ... I wish I had skills to developp a concurent app.

Failing that, the, only thing root explorer has going for it is the change rw permissions button. There are dozens of better file explorers that lack this one feature.

When installing a custom rom the recommendation usually includes backing up apps.
However are my apps not on my android market place and if so could I not simply re-install my market place apps rather than going through the back up process?

apps can be found in the market , its the data you don't want to loose try titanium it works well
when I did a factory reset on my phone, all the apps I had purchased in the market remained purchased and ready to install. Titanium is pretty well recommended wherever you search if youre worried about losing anything though.
There's an app on the market called "App List Backup" that will show all the apps you backed up before and it simply takes you to the individual app market link when you are restoring. I like it. Titanium has all kinds of whiz-bang features, but restoring apps does not always have the desired endgame when using newer ROMs.
Titanium is my recommendation. The data backing up is the part I like. You can also freeze the bloatware that comes on your phone.

Be rooted.titanium then your apps will.still be there if not google.will restore.it but not the free apps only the paid
GOING to try titanium.. will post back. flashing a beta rom.
Titanium is the best, I used it and its great I even bought the full version well worth the money.
Titanium is your best choice w.
Ok, I was on factory stock. I had all of the programs I wanted working and functional. I've been using MyBackupPro in order to backup all of my settings and apps.
After I install a new ROM, I restore all of my apps and settings using MyBackup Pro. However, I get nothing but issues. Many apps force close, apps don't show up in the app drawer, and I have to reorganize my home screen due to broken app links. Needless to say, it's a pain in the ass to switch ROMs.
Is there a painless way to backup all of your stuff and restore everything onto a new ROM? Taking hours to restore what I once had is no longer fun.
Now, I know there's Titanium Backup. If you like using it and it works for you perfectly, please tell me the EXACT steps you use to backup your apps and settings. Just telling me to "use Titanium" is not helpful. Thanks.
Nevermind. I just said screw it and paid for Titanium Pro. It cleaned up the mess.
However, I will say that using Titanium Pro is like using a bulldozer to make a sandcastle.

you never want to restore data if coming from one rom to a different rom. you will get lots of Fc's among other issues. just restore the apks.

i was searching all over the net and this forum for a gud one.
i didnt like my experience with titanium.root,mybackup.root/pro,astro and go backup.
i m on latest CM10 nightly by Quarx.
when i backup and restore ..say AngryBirds which i have installed in and moved to sd-card. the restore goes to internal memory again.
the restore fills my internal memory. as i m always on latest nightlies i can keep reinstalling and then moving them to sd-card all the times.
i have a little over 200 apps installed.
2morrow i will try Ultimate backup tools a xda development. hopng for a better result
Best Back up app
I think it's like anything else when you're customizing your phone. A matter of personal preference. Try till you find you you like.
Titanium Backup is the best. The icon system works well.
My backup is great for one click backup and restore, and has very friendly UI. The downside is that it doesn't follow symlinks so doesn't copy app apks but only data. Tibkp is too pricey for an app which still has some major bugs, also it takes a whole lotta time to figure out all the settings and it backs up too much stuff (i switch roms often, so system files can be a hassle). It has some cool feats, like restore from cwm backup and such, but again, it's more the time i spent wiping data due to system fc's than that i would've spent redownloading all the apps. GO backup i used when i was new to android and got the full GO package (launcher, sms, contacts etc) two weeks into android and learning how it works and i got rid of all that crap....To sum it up, still looking for a good app (though i haven't tried many tbh)
I prefer Titanium Backup
Best backup app is apk batch installer for sure
Its not an android app its windows app and works by adb

Titanium Backup is the best!
If you need an app just for backups, Titanium must serve you well... never had a problem using it!
Re:
I also want to go with Titanium Backup app. It really powerful app for backup and one of the special thing of this app is that it just does not backup the apps but also back up the data associate with that app. Additionally, it takes back up of system apps along with user apps. Truly amazing one….
Titanium backup is the most popular. I think that's the best too.

but since it have the paid version, which is not too expensive(i know)the developers deserves it.for now

titanium backup, so many features (if you really know how to use it), never use others, and worth buying the pro version
