HELP!!! Cant Go Past HTC Screen - Hero CDMA Android Development

I Followed all instructions to flash the new sense froyo rom, and it wouldnt go past the white htc screen, so i then just tried to install my old rom back and its still doing the same thing. any help?

are you running the FIRERAT's MOD???

Yea i did..

FYI : anytime you flash a new rom after this mod, or flash a new kernal to a currently flashed rom, you will ONLY NEED TO FLASH THE SECONDARY FIRERAT BOOT file named "FR-boot-v1.5.3-CustomMTD_S.zip".
so say after this mod you want to try a new kernal, you flash the kernal, flash boot, and reboot the system.
or say you want to flash a new cm6 nightly update, you flash the new rom/update, flash boot, reboot.
or say u want a new nightly and a new kernal, you flash the nightly, flash the kernal, flash the boot, reboot.
its very simple, if anything u flash overwrites current kernal specifications, u need to flash the boot file to make sure it knows how to set itself up. this goes for nandroid back ups aswell.

[Q][GT-i9020a] How do I reflash back to factory?

Hi, new Android user here.
I was trying to root my Nexus S phone yesterday and I'm having problems. There is a lot of rooting guides out there and I used one from xda and also one from unlockr.com. Managed to root the phone ok (I think), but everytime I flash a custom ROM, the phone won't start at all, it just sits at the boot up screen and repeats itself.
So I'm thinking, I should just start over again. So I flash the stock ROM from xda back to 2.3.1. Everything seems ok, the phone starts up... but it's always stuck on airplane mode and the phone itself doesn't even show stuff like IMEI, mac address anymore.
So now I figure I've probably messed the phone up enough and need help lol. How do I go about reflashing the stock ROM and getting my Nexus back to out of the box condition (Stock ROM and no custom bootloader)?? Any guides or step by step instructions would be very helpful.
Thanks
Did you wipe before flashing roms?
Sent from my Nexus S c",)
Maybe flashing the KB2 modem would help that but the 9020a came stock with 2.3.3 and not 2.3.1 so that could be it...I'm not sure but that software wasn't meant at all for ours so it could be part of the problem. But if I was you I'd take a look at this thread wich has all the stock software for your phone. Make sure you wipe everything in clockework and then flash the stock rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13123996&postcount=39
dsixda uploaded the stock backup and the stock recovery, you can read more at that link, good luck hope it helps
You can download the full stock ROM from the link below:
http://goo.gl/8P8vl
Move the zip file to sdcard. Boot into recovery and flash the ROM. It should get you back to stock 2.3.4 ROM, all locked.

hrm lol now trying to update it to 2.3.4, it downloaded the update, but on reboot i get the white triangle with ! in it :\
this phone is so messed now
edit: well now everything is ok again, wiped data, flashed with CM7 and now it says 2.3.4, go figure.

Sense 4 based ROMs do not start

Hello everyone!
I recently tried to test AOKP and MIUI roms, so i installed them and flashed the boot.img. After I did so, I wanted to go back with a nandroid backup, but the ROM didn't started. Since i read in the MUIU thread that you have to flash the boot.img to start this rom correctly, I flashed the boot.img of the Noble ROM (which I'm using currently), but it didn't help. Even reflashing Noble ROM did not work. So now i have to use AOKP to run the phone, but I want back to Noble Sense 4.
Is there someone who can help me with this?
Thank you in advance
Holger
Sorry for my bad English but I'm no native speaker
Fullwipe, then flash your ROM
Thank you for your advice,
but this didn't work. The ROM gets stuck at the boot animation.
Logcat outputs always the same sequence...
I don't know what to do.
Is there any other method?
But you wiped in recovery right? (data, system, cache)
Data, System, Chache, Dalvik cache, even battery stats.
AOKP starts properly...
Download my Sense 4.0 ROM and flash the boot.img that's inside then boot into recovery do a full wipe then flash my ROM.
Yeah what he said ^^^
you have to use the boot.img for which ever ROM you want to flash.. E.G - You cant flash boot.img from a ROM based on 1.70/8 RUU if the ROM you want is based on a 1.53 RUU..... or vice versa, you catch my drift.
Did this already as mentioned in the first post ... Didn't work. Cannot start Noble ROM, but AOKP
You got bootloader unlocked ?
perhaps you should ask in the AOKP ROM thread...
or the long way is to run RUU and start from the start

Cant restore backup

I made a backup on my phone in TWRP and wanted to restore it to get some contact info that I forgot to upload to my Google account. Anywho, I go into recovery and wipe me squeeky clean then restore the backup. It goes through like normal and I boot up but it doesn't get bassed the HTC splash screen. It turns to a black screen that occasionally has a white/grey bar at the top. I loaded a different backup I had and am running fine, but I still need that contact info.
Any ideas as to get the back up to work or if it is no use?

What hboot do you have?
If its 1.14 and you're switching ROMS (your backup is of a different ROM to the last ROM you were using) you might have to fastboot flash the boot.img of the ROM you're recovering.
i think it is a kernel issue
I had to downgrade from jb to ics and I wiped clean, I run into the same problem, I realized jb uses a different kernel, wipe clean flash your choosen Rom kernel update first and then your Rom, it worked for me hopefully works for you

where can i get the stock boot.img or the stock one x 2.20 image to extract the boot.img?
thanks!
is this it?
would this work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812459
if i download the odexed stock rooted rom and extract the boot.img, i can flash that to boot, and then run twrp restore to my backed up stock rooted rom, right?
my stock rooted rom was at&t 2.20 firmware.
Hoping I understood you correct, you basically need to flash a kernel first, so I am guessing you can use flar kernel,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967897
and that should be the stock kernel on steroids, however if that were not to work he has a kernel for jb phones, so I would start by these first.
I really had this issue where I could see my phone in a brick state mode then flashed the right kernel for the right rom, and boom it worked like a charm.

Most of the time yes you will have to install the boot .img manually coming from a different base or Rom... But say if you're on viper and your back up is the same base sense Rom you probably wouldn't have to reflash it... But if coming from cm10 or anything else yes

Be safe and flash it
Is it necessary to reflash rom before restore or can you just fastboot flash boot.IMG and just restore backup?
Sent from my One X using xda premium
I believe you have to flash boot. IMG and than restore according to the comments up there
I just wish we had to option to downgrade the software/hboot without going thru all those steps listed, I remeber i had the htc inspire and you will be able to downgrade hboot by choosing a downgraded version of Ruuu files.

[Q] Changing Stock kernels

Hi,
I have managed to put on a kernel that's not working. Is there a way to revert back to the original kernel? I do have a nandroid backup, but re-installing that didn't put on the old kernel.
I am using Liquidsmooth ROM. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
if you can boot into the rom use flashimagegui, if not do the normal fastboot the boot.img then do it again with flashimagegui to get the modules.
what kernel did you try to flash? the only kernel that will work with new liquidsmooth is cm10.1_vz-oc-linaro.3.zip. it contains modules, if you aren't s-off then you need to flash boot.img in fastboot then flash again in recovery for the modules.

I did exactly that, presuming that it was working... But I have been facing issues. The phone restarts every once in a while and I have managed to get to this condition after multiple wipes and restoring a backup. Anyways I don't know what the issue is I was just wondering how to revert back to the original kernel.
im running Liquid-JB-v2.1-RC2-evita.zip and cm10.1_vz-oc-linaro.3.zip. there seem to be some general issues with the rom that present as basically glitching and gets worse overtime atleast for me. im pretty sure it isnt related to the kernel. but to revert kernel just load the liquidsmooth zip into flashimagegui and itll pull the needed files, let it wipe cache and dalvik then reboot.

Thanks I'll make sure I do that..
also new stable build of liquidsmooth just got released. you should flash it. imma flash it with a clean full wipe. but you should s-off first so you dont have to flash boot.img separately every rom.

Ya, I saw the new version wanted to try that which is why I wanted to got to the old kernel version. I had tried installing it with the linaro kernel but it gets stuck on the boot screen.
Update: - I installed the flash gui image, then extracted and installed the kernel , factory reset the phone, then installed the latest liquid smooth build. But it is still not going ahead of the boot animation.
Update 3 :- Got the old kernel back. Did a restore. Working fine now . But still for some reason I cannot install the new ROM yet.

you need everything. you don't need to extract the kernel. just load the whole zip file.

I did load the full file and the flash gui image extracted the kernel. The thing is I have the kernel now, but still I can't seem to be able to install the new version of the LiquidSmooth build. I am doing a nandroid backup of this thing and try installing it again.
well new liquidsmooth is nice, im using cwm now as recovery since ive had tons of issues with twrp since version 2.2.2.0
