Have tested this and it works great. Just follow all the instructions and you will be able to sync Outlook with the X10 (Works in 1.6).

And it's FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
It works great indeed.
But every time you have to give permission within OUTLOOK to make the conection.
Is there a way to beat this?
I looked everywhere in OUTLOOK and in the Android Manager but found nothing.
What Outlook items are synced?
If you want to sync only the calendar, Google Calendar Sync works perfectly...

Missing Sync transfers my photos in both directions between Address Book and my Universal. I don't use birthdays much, but the one I did check was transferred correctly. Be sure you're using at least 3.01, or better yet, the just-released 3.02.
Suggestion: Choose MarkSpace Contacts, click Settings, then click Troubleshooting Options, then check the Force Slow Merge (Refresh Sync) box, click OK, and sync. Sometimes doing another Refresh Sync again will bring everything together. Good luck! Cheers,
I got a new problem :-(
Active Sync went through, after it says, there was a problem on the desktop, nothing else.
I found out, that my calendar did not sync.
What can this be for a reason?
I am getting crazy with this active sync probs!
It´s an old problem that I have from time to time with all my WM devices.
Here is the only way to solve it:
1. Export your personal outlook folders to a new PST.
2. Go to control panel -> inbox -> data file management, add the new pst, make it default.
3. Open Outlook once and close it
4. Go back to the data file management and remove the old pst from the list.
5. Delete parthnership and resync.
good luck

OK. I tried to follow up your suggestions. I exported the pst file from Outlook but I can not follow up your further recommendations.
Can you please explain a little bit more detailled?
Thank you.
I don´t understand in what point you want more details. All those topics have do be done at your PC.

try:
control panel -> mail -> email accounts
view or change existing email accounts
next
new outlook data file
select that file in drop down box next to that button
click finish
click data files
select old pst file
click remove
The aim is to use another lokal store for your outlook data. they are stored in a file with .pst extension. you have do attach a new file and after starting and closing of outlook at your pc you have to delete the old pst-file. use the topics i´ve told. so you surely will get rid of your sync problem
does it work now?

My problem involves the fact my calendar won't sync everything from Outlook 07'. My iPhone does not have this problem. I followed the instructions stated, but this did not work for me. The appointments that aren't syncing involve series from the past, but single occurrences apparently sync. Someone please help me alleviate this issue.
Is there any solution to get synced with outlook/windows calendar and contact?
The focus is on google applications, so if you search for ways to sync them with google calendar etc it will sync that way.

Yes I understand even if, IMHO, they can't loose integration with M$ systems...
However I used google calendar sometimes ago trying to keep synced blackberry, nokia and outlook... it made me a lot of confusion because it duplicates calendar appointments and gave me also other problems...
Now I can give it a try again.
But, what to do to sync contacts?
I found Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook.
I'll give it a try..
If you have any other suggestion you're welcome

I tried.. it requires Google Apps Premier version.. unusable due to 40€/year subscription needed!!
So I need to find another way again.

try this: http://www.android-sync.com/
It works a lot like htc sync. It does contacts and single calendar entries. they're still working on recurring calendar events.
I'm still looking for a fully working solution.
I tried android-sync but I can't get it working. App hangs during sync and I can't have feedback about sync status.
Actually I can't believe there is no official way to get my device synced with my PC... how anyone can use the phone without contacts and calendars????
Do you think this is why froyo is not an official release?
I use gsyncit http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/ to sync outlook contacts and calendars with gmail then phone obviously syncs with the gmail server. Gsyncit works very well and is very customisable. At $15 one off cost it's a bargain in my book. (prob the first software I've actually bought)

Hey
Is there any app out there wich could sync all PIM-Data like SMS,Contacts etc. to Android? I'd love an app that does this since I've got Android on my HD2?
If there isn't any software, I'll try to develop some on my own, but first I need to know a few things:
- how do get the messages (Mail and SMS) in WinMo (.net cf)
- and how to restore them??
- how to register an app to run before shutdown and as startup on android?
Thanks
Chabun
Did you try to use MyPhoneExplorer for syncing Outlook contacts to your Android ?
Hi,
I've search alot around to do that, tryed ogg synch and other stuff,
but now I've found that this way to synch android and winmo is the best (for me):
don't use outlook anymore on my pc instead I've created a gmail accound and use calendar , contact... exactly like on outlook but online.
On htc winmo I've made an activesync account with google server (m.google.com) and synch everything exept tasks.
And on htc Andro synch with google account.
Everyhing works ...

How can you possibly hope to use Android fully without a data plan
Google Sync will do just this !
Yes, i just stumbled onto this:
http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/
I just set up my active sync with m.google.com (follow the instructions, old, but still work) on my Window mobile, did one sync for everything except my email.
That part of it OK, i reboot to Android (MCCM Desire HD), synch my stuff there (using this same gmail address) and yes, all my contacts show up, contacts with multiple numbers, pictures (girls!) included, wow, just wow...
Give it i try, i'll go see if it actually synchs the calendar, my messages from winmo do not show up though.
Edit: sorry, i guess aegidios2 beat me to it, well here are the instructions, if you have no data plan, surely you can sync using Wifi ?
Update: Yes, i tested, it also syncs the calendar back from Android to WinMo, then Outlook pops op on my computer, informing me about the appointment i put in the calendar, wow, i am hooked !

I can do that, yes, but I want to be able to switch between them at any time - even if I'm not at home and no free wlan net is in reach!

Since there were only f****** expensive offers when I bought my hd2....
So I'm currently trying to develope an app for that, but I'm stuck on creating sms on WinMo (I tried the InTheHandSDK, but on my HD2 (latest Artemis ROM with WM 6.5.3) it crashes and in the emulator it fails to store the body of the sms). Does anyone know how to do that??
So I think there's no app which can handle that...
Now I'm wondering if anybody else would like to have such an app?
And I have still the problems with reading/restoring sms (on winmo), anyone who could help me?
Did you try mIQ, search for it on google
Only downside is you can sync only one device
I use Google Calendar Sync and Contacts Sync.
Done completely offline via your home PC. Works flawlessly as long as you have Outlook on your home PC.

Hey guys,
my conclusion to this thread is, there's no (portable) alternitive way of syncing with your 3g-network, if there's no app.
And that's the point, imagine you're on the beach abroad with your phone in your palm but currently winmo is running. So you start android and after a few seconds (SuperRAM is awsome) - f**** the sms from your GF/BF is not there...
Noway to sync with the net if you aren't a millionaire (roaming is s....).
And that's why I need an app, so I started to develop. I alreadey managed to get ceampi succesfully working. My winmo client is nearly finished. Now I need some android gurus to help me.
So anyone interested outthere willing to help? I need to know how to read all mesages stored in the folders (inbox, drafts etc.) and how to create new messages which are stored there as well.
Thanks
Hi guys,
I might get a WP7 device soon, only thing that still really bugs me is the missing active sync connection that I oved over the years! I know I could use google or hotmail to sync my Outlook with a WP7 device but I refuse to give in on that one. So instead of argueing why I should or should not want that I'm gonna try to find some solutions. I am not afraid of some not-so-easy way if at least we find one.
The following ideas came to my mind:
1) making use of the pim.vol file in my current winMo Phone.
somehow copying/converting it to the WP7 and than using it. afterwards copying it back to WinMo and sync it with my PC. a bit messy, but how about this? Further info could be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072796
2) Host a (free) exchange server.
We all cann't afford MS Exchange for sure. but there's a open source alternative or two: http://oxpedia.org/index.php?title=Main_Page_CE#quickinstall
Even better would be to have it running on the same PC so a server of some kind is not required...
3) sending all contacts via mail to the phone and having a seperate emailadress where all outlook appointments are sent to seperatly as invitations. Not really syncing though...
4) Get someone to programm a solution...
Have I missed something? are there limitations I for some reaseons was no aware of?
Thnaks all!
Use the Outlook Connector with your Windows Live ID; when you add a contact in Outlook, copy & paste it into your Windows Live contacts (which appear right in your Outlook on your PC), and then when Outlook sends & receives, it uploads your changes in your contacts to your Windows Live account. As soon as your phone syncs your Windows Live account, the new contact will show up on your phone. I use this method and it literally takes less than a minute from when I add the contact in Outlook until it shows up on my HTC HD7s.

thanks for your replies! Unfortunately I'm still looking for some kind of solution so if anyone has a hint of some kind... keep 'em commin'
hi,
you can install zarafa ww w dot zarafa dot com (new user -> you have to fix the link). There's a community edition and an outlook connector which replaces an exchange server and is free for up to three users. I installed it yesterday and my omnia7 could sync the calendar. However, I don't have outlook and could not check if that works. I didn't try to send/receive mails because I already use a separate IMAP account.
Zarafa runs on linux, so you'd have to create a virtual machine or install it on a home/root server.
The manual explains the installation very well and ubuntu provides packages in its canoncial-partners repository. But if you don't have any linux knowledge that might not be the easiest project to begin with.
HTH
You HAVE to assign a live id account to a Windows Phone; that is the only way to use the marketplace, to add social integration etc. That said, you can add the live account to outlook, install outlook connector and your info (calendar, contacts) will be in constant sync. Its a better solution to synchronize than active sync was.
Why are you trying to complicate the process?
@ShakaMan: Thanks! As far as I understood this is basically a exchangeserver (which I could instal on my own PC / Webspace /server), right?
@TechJunkiesCA Jeah, I know that it's easy. I simply don't trust MS or Google to keep my data. I have no problem with said live account But I do not want to give all my caenders and details of my contacts (friends and family) to a company of any kind. Thats the point.

exactly. probably there's a better solution which doesn't need a virtual machine or server and can be run on windows.

well, when you have (many) contacts with private data (name, home/company address, birthday, ...) you should care what you "publish" about other people. I don't care if others put their own data on the web, but they shouldn't do that with the data of their contacts.
