[Q] Use an image for background in mms.apk? - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

I'm wondering if it's possible to change the background in the messaging to app to maybe the home screens wallpaper or any image really. I looked in the mms.apk and didn't see anything about a background. If anyone has any idea how to do this that is great, but if there is a lot coding involved I'm fine without it. I'm not good at that stuff.

[Q] Change wallpaper?

Is there a way to change the wallpaper or colours or themes all at once on Xperia X10 (UI, Timescape, Mediascape)?
I hate having a green wallpaper on UI and then using Sony Ericsson's blue dialer, messenges manager, Mediascape or Timescape...
Is there a way?
THIS might help to get you started.
Hi - You can change the wallpaper easily... and you can download apps to replace many of the standard things, which you can often change the backgrounds colours etc on.....
however, if you really want to get under the skin of your phone, and have some technical skills.. then follow the link in the post above.. if you don't have a tech background.. beware.. in can be a bit scary!

Can you suggest any apps?
I use meridian for my vids, mixzing for music, just pictures for pics and handcent for sms.
Have not found a decent phonebook yet, they are either too complex for my needs, or simply crap.

Handscent SMS - you can customise this a lot!
ADW Launcher in place of the standard home screens.

I meant apps to change themes and wallpapers all over Xperia X10. Modifying everything including SE dialer, messenger, Mediascape and Timescape...
You'll need to check out the link that XperiaX10iUser posted for that. Or check out chewitts Dark10 series, as these are pretty complete so you can see everything that is being modified.
You'll get 3rd party apps to change the wallpaper, but these won't be able to change the Timescape or Mediascape background. It would be possible to write an app to do this, or if you had the modified backgrounds you could maybe use something like ninjamorph to update the background files. I'm not sure if Mediascape would update immediately or after a reboot, and for timescape you would need to go into the themes and reselect the current theme...
Long story short It would be possible to change the wallpaper, ms and ts backgrounds using an app but there isn't currently one (and probably won't be untill 2.1 is out for the X10, I know I won't be doing anything major with ms and ts until the next version is available). You could do it with ninjamorph but you need to copy each file individually.
I pretty much just settle on a theme for a while and if I want a change then I connect my phone to my PC and run a batch to update the theme with adb.
Hope this clears things up, rather than confusing things

[REQ] Inverse Notification Icon Color (Black Status Bar)

I was wondering if there is a way to reverse icon colors in the status bar. I just downloaded a black status bar and a lot of the icons blend into the black bar (if that makes sense).
If anyone can help me out, thanks. I don't know anything at all about coding and very little about the root process, so a Metamorph option would be the easiest way for me, although I can figure out theming.

I saw those. I wasn't quite sure if it changes the Messaging, Gmail, Voice and other icons since all I see is the USB and USB Tethering icons. Do you know if those are changed?
Haven´t checked that...best, open file and have a look before you morph.

Wow that is a great idea. I never thought of that haha (still brand new to this stuff). Well, unfortunately it doesn't have icons for Messaging, Gmail and a few others. Thanks for the idea though. Now I know I can check.
Any other ideas?
Anyone know of anything else to do?
Shameless bump because I really want this.
There is a desire morph around somewhere, locate the files or images you want and I can make a morph, just need to know what rom and icons.
Also bumping. Now that CM has theming, I think someone should have one out.
Use ninja morph and inverse the images u want in framework-res.apk ...really easy

Made this one a while back...

I checked out ninja morph. You're right, it does exactly what you said...EXCEPT you have to modify every icon individually, which ends up being an enormous pain.
Also, I could have missed something but how do you inverse icons directly on the phone? I looked around and still couldnt find anything. Ended up transfering them to the pc and editing them from there.
In the end, I'm just amazed that android doesn't have a unified icon / theming system yet. To edit messages, you have to go in to mms.apk (took me forever to figure that one out), to edit gmail you have to look in gmail.apk, system icons were in framework, etc. What a pain.

add more pages to android home

Hi !
I was looking for a way to add more pages to android home, I use the sense interface and it has some many widget that I think that it's a shame to use just 7 ..
Also I was looking to a way to change background to the all app menu ( I know that probably isn't possible but I really can't understand the thing of the black background...)
any help ?!
Try a different launcher - most of the third party replacement launchers let you configure the number of home screens, backgrounds, etc.
Just open up the Market and search for "launcher" - Launcher Pro, Go Launcher, Zeam Launcher and ADW Launcher are popular ones - have a play with them until you find one you like!
emh actually I forgot to mention that I would like to do this with htc sense....so I think that those app can't help me !

You might consider sending a pm to CookieMonster. He did things with HTC Sense on Windows Mobile that nobody including HTC could do.
He doesn't seem to be around much anymore but here is his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792303 Maybe someone from his team may have some thoughts.

i know but I doubt that he would like to work on this considering that hasn't been active for a while. anyway I'll give it a try.
and yes manila was much more better in my opinion...android is to close and some of its properties are bad...it's not possible to have a menu app with forced black background...also the stories of only 7 pages is stupid...
No customization at all !!
I use adw launcher and its great. You can change the icons on the bottom row along with a main button. You can change the amount of icons that are horizonal and vertical. Change scrooling all kinds of cool stuff.
Here is the .apk. Not sure if any other files need to go with it as I havent installed it in awhile.
Numerous different ones. I actually might try something different.

does it work in combination with sense ?
sadly I'm still without solution

I made some brushed-aluminum Beautiful Widgets clocks for 720p. (still tweaking)

I'm still tweaking these (landscape mode is a wreck) and I have zero idea how to upload these in an easily manageable way.
Let me know if you're interested in more or have any suggestions.
If people actually want the folders to add to their BW data folder while I work out the kinks, let me know and I'll post them.

they look nice, but i think it would be better if they were all one color like the silver ones
I've already tried the single-color thing, it doesn't really look good on anything other than grey/silver.
I'll have a ton more colors as I work the kinks out.
This one's a bit better, imo.
More ICS-looking, whatever that means.

OK, i look forward to see more clocks

Once I get the landscape mode tuned-up I'll post them all.
The clocks look amazing I hope I can download them soon.
I think I'm done tweaking, now I have no idea how to package it as a "skin" (settings and all...)
Once I get it figured out, I'll post packages.
In the meantime, here's the "final" in black (my favorite, so far):
Argh, so this is turning out to be a nightmare simply because of Beautiful Widgets itself.
I've created these to look great with MY settings, but any time I change anything it just looks wrong. This widget is definitely not up to the task.
I use Apex with a grid of 5x4 and use the 4x2 Super Clock widget, and it looks great, BUT, if I use the standard 4x4 it stretches and looks bad. If I change the margins, it stretches and looks bad. If I look at it the wrong way, it stretches and looks bad. I also can't embed any of the clock's settings (text color, alphas, etc) into the skins, so color options are basically nil.
Does anyone know of a skinnable clock widget that has a 100% static size no matter what home settings you use?

Changing Background Stock SMS in Jelly Bean

Is there anyway to change the background color (white) of the stock SMS program in jelly bean? Coming from the high contrast black background from ICS's SMS program to a white background is a tough pill to swallow. And I really don't want to use an alternative SMS program if I can avoid it.
TIA

anyone?
hard time believing i'm the only one that finds this annoying!
Naw I'm with ya drives me nuts too. I still haven't found a solution though. Also bothers me that I have to use a 5 dollar launcher for unread count. You could try various skins on Apex/Nova launchers, though I havent found the right one yet
Decompile using a Appmanager and look for the background image to replace

I'm on Samsung Galaxy Note II, Jelly Bean 4.1.1 stock, I believe I've made changes but not sure how to get back to them. When I first go into the stock message app and see the list of message that I have, the background is black. I believe this used to be white. How can I get this back to white? I did have GO SMS installed but have uninstalled it an am back to stock messaging app. I know this is how to change it to black, but hoping I could get help for vice versa.
Interested also
I'm also quite interested about this issue. I have two DROID DNA phones. One let's me use my gallery and the other won't. Really strange.

Does this replace the existing stock SMS app? Exist in addition to the stock app? Just theme the existing app? And would it be undone by any updates to gapps? Thanks.

Yes it would replace the stock sms app. Just check the gapps if it includes the mms.apk file. Usually it doesnt, maybe. If mms.apk is included in gapps then it would overwrite this but if not then this themed sms app would stay.
