I don't know if it's the phone, the browser, or the OS.
My issue is that I cant download any zip files. I've tried multiple methods and websites. I'm trying to download a SNES rom and when I choose to download the file it will start and either stop at like 23.4 kb or completely download but have a parse error when extracted our when I try to extract.
I've used several different browsers ( T-MO's stock, dolphin, skyfire, byte tornado)
I've also tried several different websites that have the roms I'm looking for but it's still the same problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have that issue with roms sometimes. It will work if you download it from a pc and extract and copy to your sd card but I would just use a different website because some sites are funny when it comes to downloading from the Android browser.Make sure you have Astro installed with the download plugin enabled also you will want download crutch.Good luck.
Thanks for the help ... I've found that an app from the market called rom gripper works damn near flawlessly

No problem mate
Are there any programs out there with the same functionality?
downloading question
can you just choose a torrent website and choose the file and download > open with the torrent program on the phone or is there a special process i might not be seeing to actually download something?
oh wow, soon as you download it, it auto opens, I saved it to the torrent program folder on the SD card, don't know if that makes a difference though
will downloading this stuff be likely picked up by your service provider and get you told on? I want to download UFC112 but it seems iffy
Seems like it was taken down due to legal reasons? Anyway, I'd really like to be able to play this again so any help on how to install this would be much appreciated. When trying to install the wad error comes up as Invalid or missing libdoom_jni.so.
im having the same problem, load a wad, 'missing libdoom_jni.so downloading'
But it doesn't download, anyone have a link to this file? Not the Google code doom page, i haven't been able to access it for the last few weeks.
I have the file....
Hi. I have uploaded the file to 4shared. Search for libdoom_jni.
I tried put in the doom folder, don´t work.
Anyone has a better guess?

couldn't find it :/
Not sure why it was taken down, doom was released under the GPL.
you'll have to drop the file into /data/data/android.game.doom/files
if you don't have root, you're basically stuck right now =(
Got the libdoom_jni.so but whenever I try and start playing the shareware wad it tries to download libdoom_jni.so again into /data/data/android.game.doom/files/ and leaves a 0KB file there that does nothing.
Tried overwriting that file, no dice either. Ideas?

yeah same problem :/
Could someone please either post here or on rapidshare etc the file libdoom_jni / libdoom_jni.so.gz or whatever it is ??
As I cannot find it anywhere its not on 4shared or anywhere ??? I have found only one site but its in russian and I can type in the letters for their spam check as I have UK keyboard.
Anyone please have the heart and upload this file or post a link if allowed.
Huge thanks in advance.

I got the file, and used root explorer to paste it in the appropriate folder but still get the same error when alunching the app. Not sure why, but figured I would share.
Any update on this?
I just got a G2 and would love to play this again. I had it working perfectly on my G1.
I get the same libdoom error
I'm getting the same libdoom_jni.so error. I've downloaded the file and placed it in /data/data/game.android.doom/files/ and still nothing... The game keeps looking for the file when I try to launch it. I even placed a copy of the file under /lib/ just in case and I'm still coming up empty handed. I checked the permissions of the file and it's readable across the board. Does anyone have any ideas?
yeah, getting the same error here. anyone know a work-around?
worked perfectly on my nexus 1. Now I regret switching to a mytouch 4g. didn't know I would have to lose doom
maybe someone could completely re-port it haha
after all, isn't doom freeware?
I've been out for a while but as the person responsible for the google code site and the google group site for Doom for Android (FREE) I've gone ahead and modified the project to include the library in the .apk file.
The library is now included and will be copied to the correct spot when the game is ran for the first time. You can download this updated version @ Doom.for.Android.1.33.666.apk
There is plenty of work to still be done to make this a bit more playable on devices without a hardware keyboard so I'll try to get things back up and running. Feel free to join the google group for all the updates.

don't know what finally made it work in all that mess, but thanks so much!
Ok, someone help a noob. I've installed the apk from this thread but can't get the WAD install to work. I get some java exception error. I've tried following the help me link but it takes me to a forbidden Google page.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I'm in China right now, and i bought the new Samsung Mp4 Player (Samsung Galaxy Player WLAN 4.0, YP-G1) at amazon.cn .
Its my first android device, but iam not a electronics noob. I thought i would get an android market app, but actually theres only a "samsung app store" with a total of 8 apps available...
I found apk links to googlemaps and skype, and managed to install them. But all downloads of the android market failed to install.
Am I not going to succeed in trying to install the app market? I read about "flashing" the zip file, but no guide talks about this player.
Heres a picture of the "about" page:
h**p://i53.tinypic.com/nmagls.jpg
Does the SDK package maybe help? I read thats a way to install packages too.
Thanks in advance!
So far I downloaded many versions of the market apk.
For most of them I'm unable to install them. If i clock on the apk it says installation failed.
One actually worked, at least i could install it. When i want to open it though it pop ups with a white screen and then disappears again.
SDK didnt work so far since the USB drivers aren't working for the Galaxy Player yet, at least Windows says it can`t find any drivers in the extras\usb-driver folder.
I found a guide for the i9000, using the dial pad. But no phone functionality, no dial pad
If I would succeed in rooting my player, is it sure the market will be installable?
No other way?
I followed this guide: h**p://samsung-phones-apps.com/how-to-install-enable-android-market-on-galaxy-s-galaxy-tab.html , but the last step, copying the files with root explorer, didnt work.
I can get R/W root access, but it wont copy anything into the system apps folder.
I tried to flash the zip for the market app here from the forums, but i cant flash it without a valid signature, screenshot: h**p://i54.tinypic.com/x5qo2b.jpg
I will try to sign it with signing tool i found, lets see if that helps.
How can it be that difficult to install the stupid market
I actually succeded with some apk, but when i try to start the market app the screen turns white for half a second and then the app closes down again.
Anyone got any ideas?
Well, in the end i managed to half brick the player. Then i couldnt find an original rom (actually without a nandroid version for the player i also couldnt update the rom before flashing the wrong one).
I also tried the rom from the koren YP-GB1 player, but with that rom the touchscreen was not working correctly, left and right was ok, but up and down where exchanged, try writing on a keyboard thats actually at another place on the screen...
So in the end i went to samsung and they just gave me a paper, now amazon send me a new one.
If anybody gets the same player, dont try something funny until the original rom is out
Thanks for your advice! Let's hope that by the end of the years the pros start developing the samsung players. Then at least we'll be able to get better sound with the Voodoo Control sound app (needs root...).
Is anyone else having trouble downloading the latest Revolver 4 (4.0.2) ROM? I have tried all three download sites, but they all fail at 80 Mb. I have also tried it on 3 different computers and my tablet with no luck.
Well i guess the server has not the complete update rom of revolver. Maybe its still in upload or maybe the server isn't okay with files bigger then <--probably not but you never know
I had no problems with downloading the files. But I downloaded the files on my PC, because I had the same problem by downloading from my tablet.

Clear your download cache and temp in browser, if that doesn't work try another browser (I suggest chrome/firefox, IE sucks) Download sites can be very finicky that way.
I have a question and am curious if others have seen it and know how to resolve it.
I am by far not new to Android and mods, custom ROMs, etc but I ha e come across something that I just can't seem to get around.
When I try to download something to flash via TWRP, or install by most any other method, over 90% of the time I cannot get an md5 match. I have tried Chrome, Dolphin, and a couple other browsers, too. Is there any other way to get a good download straight to the Pixel with downloading on the PC and copying it over??

You sure have an interesting dilemma. You can try download a small file multiple times, then use WinDiff to compare those downloads. If they match exactly, but do not match the original md5, then the issue is most likely local, and not the download source. Or, if they're different from each other, then your problem is also local. Have you tried a different PC with the same Internet connection?
As far as your other question, unless I'm misreading the question, why can't you download to the phone directly? Most of my downloads go directly to my Pixel's external storage. I don't usually touch a PC.
You understand my question. I discovered the issue trying to download TWRP RC1. The file size is 8.65Mb and I cohld never get a good md5 match downloading straight to internal memory. I started to doubt if the md5 mismatch was actually true so I tried to flash it and it failed. TWRP Alpha2 reported a corrupt zip file. I downloaded via PC, copied to storage, and then got a good md5.

So is your problem resolved? They just sound like bad downloads to me, whether that's by unreliable connection (stop and restart of packet transferring), or corrupt packet verification, or some abnormal task on your PC that takes a good download and saves a corrupted copy of it. I know, I know, some will say that there's no such thing as a bad download since CRC and other algorithm prevent that. And they're right. However, a browser can still create a bad file from a valid download.
Not resolved. Until I figure it out I download via PC and copy to device. One added bonus is I can download to a flash drive and use the adapter to plug it directly into the Pixel.
Oh, I did notice that the bad md5 files also differ in size. Seems to happen most when using Chrome.

The other benefit of using an external drive is that you don't run into the TWRP decryption issue, where your folders and files are jumbled up. Data on external drives are not encrypted.

I read that, too. I honestly haven't had that issue. Yet. The first couple times I used TWRP I wasn't prompted for a pattern at boot. I found if I power off then boot to TWRP manually it always prompted me first time. Since doing that about three times I haven't had an issue since.
****Update****
Ok, after sitting back I decided to "Go back to basics". I uninstalled all browsers on my device. I then reinstalled Chrome and tried a download, failed to get an md5 match. I then reinstalled Dolphin and downloaded the same file. Success, I have a md5 match. Seems that Chrome browser is the problem. Not sure why it wouldn't work on Dolphin previously but I have successfully downloaded four times now.
