Hi everyone.
I'm on an HTC Ozone provided by verizon with windows mobile 6.5. I understand that there is supposed to be an internet connection sharing app with my phone, although I can't find anything supporting that. As per recommendation found here, I looked in the windows directory, but no luck. (So I did my homework.)
In the end, I'd like to be able to use my phone and creat an access point, allowing devices to connect and use my data plan.
If anyone knows what free options I have in terms of this, your input is greatly valued

I have an iPod Touch and want to be able to access the internet wherever I go. I originally thought that it was only possible if I was within a WiFi "Hotspot", then I stumbled upon "TalynOne"'s post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341398
This is exactly what I would like, however, I am very much a novice with this sort of thing! I have managed to jailbreak my ipod touch, so I'm not an absolute novice, but I have some questions that I would like advice on please:
(I am in the UK)
1. I know I must get another phone (as the mobile I currently have is not suitable for this job). What is the most economical phone for me to buy (I prefer no contract as I already have a contracted phone from my company)?
2. Is there a "Dummy's" guide to setting this up? (I have downloaded the file, but I have no idea where to put it or how to execute it!)
3. Is this probably beyond my capabilities?
4. Am I in the correct forum?
Many thanks for any replies and I apologise if I'm out of line here.
Guess I'm in the wrong place. No harm in asking though
Hey there XDA,
I have just recently bought a 'Samsung i600 Blackjack' phone and it has Windows Mobile 6.0 on it.
I've installed SkyFire Web Browser on it and I find that pretty good, but the next thing I want on it is the "Windows Live Messenger" so I can talk to friends while I'm doing work etc.
When you go onto the Microsoft Mobile website, you look around and you have to enter your mobile number to get it (only available to American's not Australian's) - So does anybody know how to do this?
I really want it.
Thanks guys any help would be appreciated.
I wouldn't mind putting a Linux based OS on there instead of Windows Mobile or whatever it is called.
If there is any info on a different OS or how to get Windows Live Messenger on my phone that would be bloody appreciated.
Thanks!
I am sure there is a cab file around somewhere. Try using the search link in my sign!

I have just discovered Open Market and it is quite frankly a bit more reach in free apps.
Look for OpnMarket
I would like people to use this thread to share the best apps for HTC HD2.
Come on have your say.
Mine so far is WIFI Remote Access v1.00
Enables to browse the content of your Windows Phone 6.5 or Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 device from your computer's web browser using a WIFI connection without installing anything on your computer!
Hi Ive tried the open market and its ok , too bad that there aint more like open market where you can get more apps .

People would benefit from searching xda developers a bit more thouroughly (or in some cases, at all!) before looking elsewhere for applications. This community has much more to offer than any other single location on the internet (including Wifi Remote Access v1.7)

totally agree with you. whatever i'm looking for i usually end up finding it here anyway.
I'm still anxiously waiting for XDA-Marketplace.....! Already there isa version for Android, I'm wondering how long it will take for a WM version, since originally xda-developers was intended for windows mobile... That's the one I want to have!
Can't seem to get Omarket to function properly on my HD2. It requires a login or registration and attempt to register, but it says my information is incorrect...LOL
At first it would say my email was incorrect, and I tried 3 email address, then it says there's an error in the fields.

Just go to www.freewarepocketpc.net and register there. it worked for me
first I look at openmarket and after here bc I way easier then here to search the forums. OpenMarket is a must have.
PS: a shame that they try to make another one and dont work together. One place with all stuff, that must be the target
I went from iphone to android to webos to comeback to android.
I use google voice. I use last.fm to scrobble. And pandora.
None of this are on windows mobile marketplace.
I just got the htc hd2 today while i love the hardware and everything. Comparing other mobile os's windows mobile sucks in terms of
app choices.
Can somebody please guide me in the right direction for replacements
or if the programs are available please tell me how to get them?
I also noticed my email inbox looks like it never left the 90's. Html emails are not being displayed and pictures are not loading automatically.
Trying to adapt need it for work so i must make the best out of it

Okay... look here for all the apps we use on our hd2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603880
On Windows Mobile.. you can look for apps outside of the "marketplace".. you download them as a .cab file (on pc or phone) and place them on the sd card if you want... which out the box is unique to windows mobile (doesn't eat up phone memory (but not that we lack it on the new hd2 lol))
Once the .cab file is on your phone/sd card... in the phone you go to file explorer (in the start menu)... click on it and navigate to where you placed the .cab file and run it. You can save the installation to the "device" because there is plenty of memory and tends to run better.
To awnser your questions;
[1] Google voice idk, but im sure google will have a wm app out soon (if not already, im not 'in' google voice so dunno)
[2] Last.fm Googling around a bit i see they (or someone) released a windows mobile app in 2008, but all links to it trow a 404, so check out their mobile forums, specifically this sticky
[3] Pandora, just read this; http://www.pandora.com/on-windowsmobile (Point your mobile phone's browser to www.pandora.com)
[4] Incomplete emails Thats just a setting since most people use gprs/hsdpa, im sure you can change it, either somewhere in the settings or trough a registry edit
Though i just have to say/write this, DONT GET ME WRONG but honestly, you shouldn't try to make this like your iPhone, although Microsoft/HTC are clearly trying to 'collect' some iPhone users, overall the HD2 isn't user friendly enough to be a iPhone (yes i sayd it) That doesn't mean you shouldn't stick with the HD2 though, just forget the iPhone
To put some strength behind my 'user friendly' statement, if your ROM is from before 1.66, the HD2 will have quite some silly bugs, like SMS messages that get stuck in the outbox but only (if your lucky) send 3 weeks later, problems with the camera, not beeing able to read/write large miniSD cards & more.
On the other hand, if your in any way IT related or just in general good with computers, this is currently the best phone on the market (counting HD2 and HD2b as one) it does the latest wireless connection methods, has build-in gps, compass and g-sensor, a 1ghz gpu, a 'gpu' (kinda) and more geeky features, and hey, it can emulate most psx games at full speed (www.fpsece.net)
I'd just strongly suggest you to get a new ROM from the HTC site, assuming you have a device with pre 1.66
I hope the above helped a bit, not trying to make windows mobile even more confusing for you, just trying to tell you that it cant really be compared to iPhone/Android, it can be compared to windows, there are actually millions of apps, nobody ever felt the need for a windows marketplace until iPhone got one and Microsoft had to compete, at which they currently fail hard i agree, the windows marketplace thing is a joke, just use google.
Greetings friends,
I currently have a Sprint branded HTC Touch Pro 2 on Boost Mobile CDMA. I have everything working, but I can't seem to get the Tom_Codon Mobile Wifi app to work.
I installed the app, located it, set my connection name and WEP. I used my son's PSP to test the connection and it is not recognized.
What can I do to fix this?
I am preparing to get an android tablet or the Blackberry Playbook. I want to have this working in advance so I won't run into any issues later.
Thanks in advance for your help...
I'm assuming you've already figured this out but if you haven't well here are the facts. Our old TP2 WinMobile can only do WEP. Since WEP is easily defeated it is not support in current new tech. Therefore tablets with Android OSes only support WPA. There are two ways to overcome. 1. Root your Tablet and make the modifications necessay. You can search here to find the answer. Or install an Android OS on your TP2. Again, in Android WPA is supported so it can be enabled to become a WPA Router. This way you won't have to root your tablet if you don't want to. What! I'm kidding! Of course we want to ROOT! LOL
the sony PSP wont work with the TP2. i have been trying for years with no luck
